Kabul City is one of our favourite restaurants to visit so it's wonderful to enjoy their very tasty food again during lockdown too. Our top picks are the lamb and chicken karahi, chicken tikka masala (a recipe I normally stay well clear of), aloo sabzi always with naan bread as we like to mop up. If you do go and visit, then I recommend the grills too! Enjoy!

Just brilliant. Amazing quality of food and the finest tasting Qabili Palow I have ever eaten. Hand on heart. I have tried a number Qabili Palows from different restaurants and Kabul City Edgware is the best in my opinion. The owner is a great man with a real passion for the food he makes and serves, he truly cares about the quality of the food he prepares and customers he serves.

Kabuli rice and Burhani was ok but Mix Grill was really disappointed. Meat and chicken wasn’t cooked properly and chops were very hard. We didn’t enjoyed bbq mix grill because of undercooked meat. Only the kebab was ok in mix grill.

Although we found the food a bit oily it was really delicious 😋

The food quantity mailnly meats has gone down a lot in the biriyani and the mixed grill :(

We went because of its recent Best Kebab in London Award and, as it's local, we thought we'd try it. We weren't disappointed. We'd booked a table, but not really necessary, midweek, I suspect. Ordered the mixed platter to share between 2-3people. Excellent value, great choices of chicken, lamb and perfectly cooked, fragrant rice plus a little salad garnish. The starter was enhanced by the Management to provide us with two instead of just the one listed. Matoom - totally delicious. Aubergine dish - great flavour. Expect friendly service, eclectic decor and good size portions and value. NB - no alcohol - which didn't come as a surprise to us. Good array of soft drinks etc on offer.

great experience of authentic afghani cuisine. sat on raised platform with folded legs.different experience altogether. ordered seekh kebab and mutton kadhayee. kabab was great. in mutton kadhayee, portion was good. service was good.

A very strange experience if you like you can sit on a raised platform and eat cross legged, the food is hot and plentiful the only problem with the restaurant is it shuts down for the month of Ramadan, if you're in Edgware it's a five minute walk from the station.

We went here on a last minute treat. We were my wife, my 16 year old son and myself. To be totally honest, the portions were enormous. Both my Son and my wife loved their food but I was a little disappointed with the Chicken Tikka which I ordered. There was no problem with the colour or the portions of both Chicken and the sauce, but the sauce I think was a little "bland" for my taste buds. Other Tikka Marsala I have has was more Spicy which is more to my liking. I did say the portions were huge, in fact enough for us to take a full meal home home with us as a takeaway. All in all, a very pleasant experience but next time I will skip the Chicken Tikka Marsala

Great place for great food. Portions are very generous at reasonable prices. Try their mantoo and you won’t be disappointed. Been quite a few times throughout the years and service has always been lovely.

I have been there quite a few times the food used to be much better but not anymore The service is nice but this was the second time my mix grill was over cooked specially the kofte was burned and the lamb chops tasted funny rice looked like microwaved many times and saggy the second time disappointed

Visited here with family for our grandson 1st birthday. The food was plentiful and super delicious. The only complaint is they have one toilet used by all and needed to be cleaned.

Go here regular it's our favourite Afghan restaurant it's a bring your own booze which makes it very reasonable food very tasty staff very friendly and very reasonably priced

Four of us visited on the strength of the restaurant’s reviews and would endorse its high rankings. Our (mostly vegetarian) starters and mains were all of a very good standard. Generous portions too. Service was friendly, if a bit haphazard (but that seemed mostly due to one inexperienced person who was learning the ropes). The restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol but they do let you BYOB. The only real downside was the toilet which wasn’t very clean or in good repair.

Originally we picked up some food about a week ago to come home and realise we had the wrong order, it was fortunately the alternative we order from the menu - so not too too disappointed (we live about 20mins away) restaurant phoned us just as we were about to and apologised for the mix up and offered free food next time. A bit dubious if they’d remember.. but just finished a lovely free meal that didn’t disappoint. This honestly is the best Afghan food in the uk. Will always go back for more!!

This place is popular with Afghani diners. The portions are generous and vegetarians are well catered for. I tried a Paneer tikka which was very tasty. You may bring your own alcohol.

An interestijng place! They have tried very hard to creat an Afghani ambiance which is commendable but it didn't hit the mark. However, we had a very enthusiatic waiter who did his best to please even though he was somehewhat absentminded. The starteers were very good and my prawn curry was delicious but not everyone one thought the food was great. One in our party had lamb cube kebabs that were somewhat tough and tasteless. I guess it is a lucky dip.

I ate lamb chops with rice. The lamb was really fat and it came with a small portion of salad. The waiter came to take the order after 10 minutes and the all the people working there were not smiley.

The owner is very arrogant and unprofessional. Food is horrible, tasteless, undercooked and contaminated with unknown objects. Total waste of time and money

If you are in Edgware and want good value, fresh food, then check out Kabul City. It is not licensed, so if you want a drink, bring your own. I had the mixed grill, which is a feast of meat. My wife doesn’t eat meat and so was pleased by the extensive selection of vegetarian options and loved the aubergine and walnut starter. We bought a couple of beers with us, even including these the food worked out at Under £20 a head, which is a bargain.

I must’ve been here at least 10 times since my husband introduced it. I’ve taken visiting family there, friends .. everyone! The food is just outstanding, so much flavour, simply delicious.

We visited this restaurant as a family and ordered meals for 5 people. The service and the decor was very nice, the waiter was very good at explaining things. But unfortunately, the food wasn't so nice. The Kabuli rice wasn't fresh and warmed up in a microwave, Kebabs were either dry or under done. Though the chops were very nice. They can improve things as they have the capability, experience and location

I came here after reading a magazine this Restaurant was once own by George Michael the singer father jack. Now it a Afghan restaurant. I came at good timing because it started to get busy. I dine alone I ordered Chicken biriyani came with rice naan bread and salad. Came freshly cooked big portions. The staff were very friendly and helpful I like the dinner it was Delicious taste. I will come back again.

I have been to Kabul City on numerous occasions and I love the food there. My favourite dish is the lamb biryani which is done in the most amazing sauce. I took some friends there recently on my recommendation and I'm pleased that they all enjoyed the food and the service very much. I sat watching the chef cooking the meat over the charcoal grill and I could see he was taking his task very seriously to ensure everything was cooked to perfection. The grilled meat and different skewers are all delicious. I would recommend Kabul City to anyone who wants a delicious Asian meal with an Afghan twist. The prices are very reasonable which makes this place even more appealing.

We came here recommended by my brother, and I'm glad he did. The food was amazing, everthing we ordered had so much flavour! We ordered the mix grill which came with rice, £15 worth the money, it can feed 2-3 people, defo recommend that. The sevice was great, staff were very attentive. They gave us complimentary Baklava. Defo would come back here, the atmosphere was great.

We recently ordered a fine feast including lamb chops, jumbo prawns, varied vegetable dishes, kebabs. All came with nan/rice and salad. Portions were generous and qulaity was top level. Looking forward to next order that pleased 3 generations. Enjoy

Food arrived cold/ hardly warm. Asked for plain chicken wings for kids but these were not plain at all. Main lamb dish didn’t impress either.

Food is on point! The family meal deal is great value for money. The qabli pilau is delicious. Meat is juicy. Take away food after 15 mins of driving home the food was still piping hot.

We have ordered the same dish many times and really enjoyed it. This time having ordered the same dish we were totally disappointed as the amount of lamb was greatly reduced, there was hardly any and not only that but two big pieces of fat. This has put us off ordering from here again. Very very disappointed

I have been looking for lamb chops and kebab and tried few places and was always disappointed until I tried this one. a lot of choices to choose from, ordered lamb chops and lamb fillet one with naan and one with rice, they were very tasty and tender. chicken biryani was good too but a bit spicy. qabili palaw was delicious but very little meat inside. the portions are huge one dish is enough for 2 persons to share. we ordered at 15:12 and the place confirmed our order immediately to be delivered 16:15 and around 15:30 it was out for delivery and arrived within 15 minutes. a bit pricy but highly recommended place. will definitely order again. thank you.

We had a large family gathering at the restaurant. We had ordered takeaway before, and choice was plenty. It's simple to say, it's one of the best afghani/persian restaurants in London. Kabuli pilau was excellent, mantoo was unusual, never tried previously. Mixed grill was standard. Mandi was a slight disappointment, compared to mandi in UAE. Shami kebab wasn't the one served in Pakistani cuisine. The shami was more like kofta kebab. Kofta curry was good. This was just another version. Decor was traditional, and service was swift. Excellent value for money.
