Some bartenders at Jupiter are stuck up and rude. One day a female bartender asked my spouse for his order and he replied that he had not received a menu yet. She got mad at him and somehow with help from other Jupiter staff kicked him out of the bar! Outrageous! As long time Berkeley residents we've tipped very generously at Jupiter many times, but they will no longer get our business.

A wonderful beer garden in Berkeley with a great selection of beers and pizzas. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this for a casual night out in the garden where there is sun and shade.

Review of experience from August 24, 2023: We were so glad that Jupiter survived the pandemic. This place is a Berkeley staple and a fantastic place to go and sit outside on a very beautiful patio to enjoy some delicious pizza and beer. For those not in the know, they have a huge gorgeous patio! Since we had not been back prior to the pandemic I was unclear how the process worked. Turns out that you scan the QR code on the table and the rest is a breeze. In my attempt to find a staff member to answer a few menu questions, I was lucky enough to meet Serenity. She must have been able to sense that I looked confused and needed help because with an arm full of drinks she popped right in front of me to ask if she could help me at all. What an awesome surprise to meet someone so eager to help. She jumped right over to our table, answered all the questions we had and let us know she would be happy to help us get the order in correctly. I cannot say what a breath of fresh air it was to get service like this! It made my day. We went on to have an awesome dinner consisting of their delicious House Salad (don’t let the name fool ya, it is unique and quite delicious) and a Xanthia pizza! They also have some great cider options for the folks that need a gluten-free cold one. I highly endorse grabbing a pizza at Jupiter and by all means, sit in Serenity’s section if you want two scoops of awesome service. I mean, who couldn’t use a little serenity?! :)

We came to this restaurant for lunch during a college tour for my son. I had read it was a local hangout but I if you don't know the process you are treated like an idiot! When we arrived it said seat yourself so we did... it was nice space but lots of bugs. No one greeted us and we sat there wondering if anyone would. After about 10-15 minutes we tried to flag a waited and he just waved back and said hi. Not ill be with you in a min. Rude actually. We were going to get up and leave when we saw a QR code on the table we are suppose to order online. We did nut no where can we order water and items like that. Eventually someone delivered a soda we ordered and we asked for water which we received but no refills or customer service for that mater. JUst ok and not worth the rudeness.

Went about 730p on Friday, was chaos as you are to "seat yourself". Multiple people walking around through restaurant. No direction or priority as who was waiting first from staff. We were a party of 3 and found a small table finally and was abruptly and confrontational told by waiter we can't have the table as it was for 2. JUPITER needs to spend a little money and hire a hostess. Local customer lost.

Great patio which alone makes this place a "go-to" place. Presently they have serverless ordering and runners for food due to a low time and probably post-covid period. Quick service, good cold beer and drinks. Pizza very cheesy. One thing...forgot our water. We enjoyed our patio time. So relaxing. Will always come back!

It is good place to go for good pizza, good beer, and good friends. The patio is nice. The music is loud and the atmosphere is very laid back. We went twice and had good service and good pizza both times.

The atmosphere, the menu and the service is great, especially when sitting outside in the garden area.

I came here by myself after work while visiting Berkeley on the recommendation of my lyft driver from this morning. This is a really cool environment. They have a huge Courtyard with open seating outside surrounded by plants and cool people. I got a small pizza and a small salad. I ate most of it but I definitely could have shared it with another person. It's the thin pizza that does not have a ton of cheese or toppings on it so it's the right amount to not get stuffed. I got the one called Perseus. It has bacon, shaved Brussels sprouts onions and a lemon Ricotta cheese. It was a really crazy combination I would never think of but it was actually very tasty. I would get it again. I also got the spinach salad which was good as well. The mushrooms were a little bit too much for me and in big chunks but otherwise it was good. They also have live music on certain nights here. I would definitely come here again. It's great for dates or meeting up with friends after work to have a drink. They have a nice drink menu with the beer, cider, wine.

The food and wine are very good. Pleasantly surprised that their house wine 'canyon road' was very delicious. The Bay Area has some very good food and this is a place that we frequent on a regular basis when we are in the bay area.

Close to the hotel, so stopped in for dinner on a week night. A bit chilly, but enjoyed the outside seating with colorful lights (one section has heaters). Menu has a nice selection of appetizers and mostly pizza. Pizza was great - really ideal crust and tasty toppings. Good beer. Really friendly service. Will definitely stop in again.

Spent a lovely lunch on the patio. Loved the fountain, the menu was inviting and lots of things I wanted to order. Waiter was friendly, fun and helpful. Ordered the Eutropia pizza thin crust-YUM! Little spit of champagne, heaven on earth. Will go back the next time I'm in Berkeley.

This was our first time here. We met up friends and had trouble deciding what to order -- because everything on the menu looked so good. When we finally decided, everything was delicious. Their choice of craft beers is somewhat limited but the diversity of types hit most of the popular beers. They have sours and even an alcoholic kombucha on draft as well.

We stopped in here just before lunch on a very wet Sunday. Not quite ready to eat yet, needing to get outof the rain, having a beer sounded like just the thing. Our bartender, Rourke (? Not quite sure that's right, but close), was a friendly guy with a good vibe. He seemed happy to talk about the characteristics of the various brews with us, and was even able to tell us where to find a peanut butter porter they weren't currently serving. I had a dry stout, my wife had a pilsner, one of our friends had the dry stout and our other friend had a porter. They were all full flavored and well balanced. I thought the dry stout was maybe a little lighter in flavor than I like a stout to be. My wife and the friend who had the porter especially liked theirs. Nice end to the stay- shortly after we came in and sat at the last available table, a couple came in with 2 very young kids, and had to sit at the bar. They were obviously worried about the little ones falling off the bar stools, so we offered them our table and sat at the bar. When it came time to pay our bill, Rourke had seen the exchange and comped one of our beers. Life as it should be.

Wonderful lunch - salads and tuna melt. Personable server. Fast service. Watched the wonderful world of Berkeley pass by for entertainment out the window.

We stopped in for a bite, the pizza was very good along with good service, nice establishment. Thin crust well done

A great guitarist was playing with a little combo on the outdoor deck. It being Saturday night, it was packed. We found a table (after about 15 minutes) and ordered a hummus appetizer plate and a couple glasses of decent pinot. The food was fresh and plentiful. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and it did not break the bank!!

We stopped in on our trip through Berkeley...we had to use the restaurant as a pass through, due to construction. The outdoor courtyard seemed pleasant so we stayed for lunch. We shared the pizza of the day and a beet salad. Great food! Pizza crust was light and the toppings were premium. Best pizza I’ve had in a long time.

I was in Town for work and was staying across the street at the Shattuck. Saw the sign and wondered in. Pizza was great, Service was Friendly and Atmosphere was Electric. Great Local Spot.

Went here on a date night with my bf. Loved everything about it except the fact that outside seating is first come first serve self seating, so you’re standing there like vultures watching people waiting for them to leave so you can grab their table lol. Other than that the ambiance was beautiful, we sat next to the fire pit. The live band was great. The pizza was good. I wasn’t sure what to drink, so our excellent server brought me 3 taste samples of the ciders to try.

Very lively, packed with students. We sat on the patio near the fire pit on a cool evening and people watched. Delicious and unusal pizzas...a nice casual place for a pizza and beer.

Second visit - and many more pizzas to try. Yummy, unusual pizzas. Easy walk from Hotel Shattuck. Fun, noisy atmosphere.

We stopped in on a weekday for a late lunch. We immediately found a spot in the back patio. I felt lucky but Jupiter's does a good job of turning tables...plus there are several tables.

My dad, brother and myself were in town for a few days and ate at Jupiter two times. Love, love, love the atmosphere (you must sit on the patio)! Food was great, I had the artichoke and spinach dip and brother/dad had pizza. Each time it was fantastic. Staff was attentive and friendly. Our hotel was basically across the street and there may be a lot of restaurants but this was a pleasant surprise! Thank you. Hope to return again soon.

Late lunch as a family on a Saturday. Nice feel to the place especially outside. Good range of beers for an American restaurant/bar. Service is pretty good but food itself only very average. The Caesar Salad and the wedges were poor but the pizzas were good. So, OK just overall.

This place has some very unique pizzas. Most recently I had the xanthia which has thinly sliced potatoes, with bacon, mozzarella and ricotta cheese. It was delicious and tasted even better the next day. My husband chose the eutropia which has house made fennel sausage, bacon and pepperoni. He is a big fan of their Quasar IPA. I liked their selection of wines by the glass. It can get crowded here at lunch time, so arrive early to get a good table on their lovely trellis-covered patio.

I had the Apollo pizza and a pomegranate cider. Wow! Great balance of sauce, toppings, and crust. Among the best in town. Gotta do that again next time I’m in town!

Stopped by here after a quick visit to the campus. Place was jam packed and we had a long wait for a table. The outdoor patio looked nice but was booked. We finally sat inside after a 45 minute wait. Pizza was just ok. Not thin and crispy like we like it. Service was poor and it was very noisy. I can see this would be a good place to hang out if you are a student or when it is less crowded.

The food was good, however it was very noisy! The evening that we went there was a live band playing which I thought was very loud! It was very hard to communicate with the people at my table!

¡En un día cálido y soleado, este es un excelente lugar para cervezas al aire libre! Tan cómodo y cálido que podría convertirse en muchas cervezas. Buena selección de lager a Ales, las opciones locales son abundantes. Puede ser un poco ruidoso. Pero en la parte trasera del restaurante, ¡el ruido de Shattuck no molestará!

I usually don't like eating outdoors, but the seating outside at this restaurant was delightful! The food was excellent!

The first round of going, we waited nearly 30 minutes without so much as a 'hello'. However, we left and returned later to find delightful food. The pizza was delicious and the back patio was amazing! Great ambiance. If you're torn, it's well worth the visit.

Had lunch at Jupiter for first time. Great home brewed beer. Big big Caesar salad and a very tasty Mexican soup. Inside is a big wood room that looks like it could stand any earthquake. They have a beautiful outside setting as well.

Very good food and our waiter was great. We had two different pizzas and both were great. Mostly young people since we are in a college town and had a very cool vibe. There is a nice patio also with a fire pit and lights strung across the patio. A pizza and beer place with an upscale feel.

Had a few beers and pizzas here - even though they were short waitstaff and it’s a big place, service was excellent and super friendly. Changing beer selection features numerous beers on tap, and the pizzas seemed good and fresh. Outside seating features overhead heaters, so choose wisely or wear a sweater!

My husband and I came for dinner on New Years Eve, it was crowded but the service was very good. We ordered a hummus appetizer that was filled with greek olives, pita, red onion, feta, etc. We also split a large house salad, lightly dressed with greens, shaved carrots, seeds and more. It was a generous portion. The pizza dough was flavorful, crispy made in a brick oven. I’d definitely come again!

Our daughter took us here for pizza and beer. It was good for both. We shared a Galileo and a Eutropia. Both excellent. The patio was pleasant, even in December. Service was good.

Went with grandson to Jupiter's for a very good California style pizza and a few beers. We enjoyed a Capella and a Eutropia. Both freshly prepared and quite tasty. Of course, they went well with a couple of tall Jupiter IPA's. The outdoor seating is generous and hosts a lively crowd.

I went to Jupiter with a couple friends after deciding we wanted a nice sit down meal and hearing good things. Upon sitting down and selecting our menu items, it took forever to flag a waiter down to take our order. Had this been a one time occurrence I wouldn’t have minded, but every time we wanted to ask the waiter something, it would be nearly impossible to track one down. Furthermore, upon asking a server for a coke, we were told that he “can’t take orders” and that he’d send someone over... this person never came. After we got someone else’s attention, the coke (a fountain drink mind you) took almost 15 minutes and 3 inquiries about where it was. The pizza I ordered was satisfactory and my friends were both pleased with their food too, but it was not worth the stress of dealing with bad service.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch. Beer is available. Good menu and attentive table service. Nice ambiance. Very close to UC Berkeley. Close to a BART station.

There was live music and it was very noisy. So you go there for a lively evening, not to be able to talk to someone. Food was OK, mostly stuff to graze on.

My daughter and I have been here quite a few times. Have sat inside and on the patio. The menu is mostly pizza, salads and hearty appetizers. They serve lots of craft beers & have a decent wine list. We always enjoy our favorite dish - the Salmon Salad. We usually split a small one with either the artichoke dip apetizer (comes with 2 types of bread) or the garlic/cheese bread appetizer. This baked garic is heavenly!! The Salmon salad is lovely...the dressing is light and delish! We usually come here after hiking! So dress is totally casual to say the least. The patio is sunny/shady with a fountain, beautiful brick walls with lots of pretty plants and a big redwood in the back corner. Service is always good (did experience slow once), staff is attentive and nice.

Pizza was a wet mess. It was more of a stew than a pizza. Tasted okay. Chicken wings were slightly south of mediocre. Tasted like something you'd buy Frozen and microwave. But the icing on the 2-point cake was when they charged for the second Diet Coke. $6 for two 8 oz Diet Cokes. And they weren't really good Diet Cokes. They were watery and lacked fizz.

Late night meal with a couple of work colleagues. Really nice craft beer (amber for me) and wood fired pizza. Nice outdoor setting and solid service. Live music complemented the nice meal.

Just great!! The pizza was sumptuous. The ingredients were fresh and well cooked. The olive app was wonderful and they had great salads. Their garlic bread and hummus apps were also quite good. The biggest advantages Jupiter has are its staff and the beer list but most especially how well the staff knows the beer list. We were given several spot on recommendations to try. They were as described and we loved them all. In four nights in Berkeley? We went to Jupiter three times and it was wonderful each time.

We were in Berkeley for our son's college move-in and were looking for a good place for dinner. It's easy to be drawn to this place because of the vibe and action. There are a lot of choices in the area and on a Monday night it's pretty easy to just walk in anywhere and get a table. Jupiter was pretty full though and because its human nature to be drawn to a packed restaurant we stopped by. They have both indoor and patio seating. You're instructed to seat yourself as you walk in. On a Monday night, the place was packed. We eventually found a table on the patio after about a 15 minute wait. Great beer and bar food selection. We ordered a couple of appetizers which arrived pretty quickly. But we also ordered two pizzas. It took about an hour for the pizza to come out. Really? I'm glad we ordered the apps otherwise we would have passed out. The upside was that everything tasted really good and pizza crust was light and crispy.

Decided to try Jupiter based upon the reviews. We were a little disappointed in the food and the service. It's probably a good college hang out but missed the mark with us. The courtyard looked like the place to be. However, the family wanted to sit inside as it was cooling off and the band was about to start.

The menu is limited, but this is really a pub with a terrific selection of beers. Went there on Mothers Day for a more upbeat experience, and it didn't disappoint. Pizza was very good. There are vegan options so my daughter was delighted to have good vegan food to eat. Very popular place so there can oftentimes be a wait for a table, particularly in the outdoor courtyard. Seating outdoors is on the customer to find a table. Still, nice experience and fun place.

I have been here many many times for Cal football games and other events on the campus. The food is outstanding the craft beer is even better. Inside and outside seating is available. Outside is preferred. You cannot go wrong with any type of pizza.

This place has been around for a long time and offers the usual pub choices of salads, pizzas and burgers. It is a bit of an upscale pub/bar atmosphere. They do have a great garden and patio in the backyard. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat prior to seeing a show. The service was efficient and friendly. The pizza's and salad were good and worth going back if in a bind.

Every summer, when the undergrads are gone from Cal, we try to go to restaurants in downtown Berkeley that would be more crowded during the academic year. This summer, as part of a quest for decent pizza in the East Bay, we decided to go and pay Jupiter a visit at lunchtime. It was a somewhat warmer than average day, and so sitting outside on the patio was a quite pleasant option.

We stopped here on the 4th of July after attending an A's game while visiting our son. The place was hopping at 5 but we found a nice table under a small tree outside. Great beer selection, lots of terrific local and national craft beers to choose from. Our salads were terrific, great sized, all fresh and tasty, and our pizzas were equally great--again, all fresh, perfectly done, tasty and enjoyable. Very attentive wait staff, especially on such a busy day.

We were walking to the BART when we say Jupiter...what an excellent stop this would be. The place was crowded...both inside dining and the "large" outside seating area. We found a table off to the side with NO chairs...along comes a most friendly waiter and he quickly went and found two chairs for us. The experience continued to go up when we met our waited EVAN!!! He was most friendly and very helpful in making our selections for dinner. As an appetizer we went with one of his favorites and we quickly found out why...Garlic Bread covered in cheese with two cloves of garlic to add to the topping...yum, yum good!!!! From there we selected (again w/Evan's help) the large Xanthia pizza....from the crust to the toppings so good!!! The description...thinly sliced potatoes, bacon, garlic, mozzarella, ricotta cheese and red chili flakes...this was soooooo good!!!! They also had a large selection of alcoholic to non-alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere was great...tons of folks enjoying "fantastic" food and interacting with each other. Thanks Evan...with Oregon Duck Ladies winning the the PAC-12 softball Championship and capping off our day a Jupiter...couldn't have been better!!!

We enjoyed a drink and apps on a sunny afternoon in Berkeley. The outside patio is very pleasant and has both sunny and shady spots depending on your preference. The food and drinks were a good selection and the service was attentive.

Fun environment and the food good. It was very busy so our server had a lot on his plate. As a result we had to wait for attention longer than we’d like. There was a leak coming from somewhere out on the patio so the soles if our shoes were wet—not too inviting. There was no ackowledgment of this problem by the staff! All said nice local place and we will try again.

Went to a movie in Downtown Berkeley and was looking for a good place for lunch. We found it. Good Food. Good Service. Especially good atmosphere. We sat next to the fireplace in the courtyard. Couldn't have been more lovely.

Nous étions à deux pas du Jupiter pour affaires. Nous y sommes allés sur le conseil d'une collègue. Le lieu est vraiment chouette ! Une brasserie qui propose ses propres bières, un beau patio où manger et boire à l'extérieur dans un cadre sympa, le service au top. La carte est très satisfaisante, les pizzas excellentes, pas mal de plats sont proposés avec deux tailles différentes selon la faim, ce qui est très appréciable. Un très bon rapport qualité/prix et un très bon moment.

Un bel endroit, animé, chaleureux, bonne ambiance, bonne nourriture, bonnes bières proche du centre de Berkeley, à ne pas manquer.

I always feel like I'm back in college when i go here. Dark wood, smell of beer, cheap eats. I went to see my guitar teacher play. Fun, casual, easy to relax, even when crowded.

Great food, service, drink and atmosphere and Live Music. 5 stars is not enough. Salads, soup and pizza were all top notch. Check this place out on someone's birthday. Can't say enough how much fun Jupiter is. You may have to hunt for a table but it's worth it!!

Wonderful ambiance, fantastic array of beers on tap (along with a few wines). Would have eaten, but already had a dinner reservation nearby. Placed was packed, everybody seemed to be having a great time.

The first time we went here, we arrived after the dinner rush had started and were not able to get a seat outside. The inside is really cool, to be fair - but this place gets busy! The second time we went, we were able to grab a seat outside which was really nice (Berkeley weather FTW).We had the pizza twice, great both times. My husband really enjoyed their beers, and we had the fondue which was pretty good! This place is dog friendly if you can get a spot outside - just plan ahead in case the patio is full.

Assim como minha outra experiência (não sei se é moda), muitas cervejas locais no cardápio e eu provei uma a base de banana, muito boa! Além disso, pedi uma pizza individual, 9", 4 queijos, estava ótima. Preço justo.

Stumbled upon by mistake as we hunted Indian food on a visit. The vegetarian pizza which tasted wheat crusted was outstanding. Roasted vegetables vs typically raw ones couples well with thin crust and marinara. Dip it in the cilantro sauce for the kick. The Garlic bread with roasted garlic shells has a nice rosemary aftertaste. I don't think I've enjoyed pizza like this in a while. Try the roasted olives -- goes well with the light beers.

While parking can be a bit of an issue on this busy strip, Jupiter is actually a perfect place to meet for food and fellowship. I enjoyed a beet salad and ginger beer while my friends took advantage of the great pizza menu. we loved the ambiance and the energy of the location which has both covered and patio seating in the interior of the restaurants. The staff was great with good service. We stayed here for over 4 hours. At no point did the service level change.

Pleasant and friendly. A nice place to have lunch. Food was good and prices were also reasonable. Will visit again.

Stopped in after getting into town for a quick lunch. Food was good, hummus was tasty for an app. Good beers and service made for a nice stop!

WARNING! Check your Bank Account after you leave this Clip Joint! This place uses unethical practice's . I was in their on July 15th and paid the bill with my Debt card. I left a cash tip. A few days later I was online checking my account and my server J Llach looks to take it upon himself to add a tip of $6.00 to my bill.. WTF!! Pay by cash or you are going to get ripped off! Will be contacting the BBB about there shady practices...

This place has great food and a large selection of beer and wine. The waitstaff were outstanding, with prompt service and helpful answers. We had a pizza in the courtyard on a sunny afternoon and went back for riblets and drinks late in the evening, when there was live music. They really get the ambience thing, with tiered seating and good lights. A delightful place to discover!

This place is bustling on a Friday evening. Perhaps a little too crowded indeed. I wouldn't leave any personal items unattended. But food and drinks are ok and service is efficient and friendly.

Jupiter was jumping on a Friday night, especially on the lovely outdoor patio in the back. Live music, great brews, and excellent pizzas made it a memorable evening. The mushroom pizza was a big hit.Lively if noisy atmosphere.

Great ambiance, live music, awesome for groups, and gluten free/vegan pizza options. Staff was excellent. Loved it!

I ate here at least 2x each visit. The food and atmosphere is great. Staff are run off their feet - but great people! It can be pretty busy and tight... but well worth stopping in!
