Jumbo Chinese Takeaway in Birmingham

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Me and my partner got a takeaway here. It was bland and cold, and we barely ate anything. Plus, I think it has given my food poisoning as within an hour of eating I have began to feel ill. Hoping to get a refund from Just Eat. Please save yourselves money time and health. The only positive was the most lovely delivery driver.

Treated myself to a meal on Friday night as it's been over a Year since I last had a Chinese takeaway, the take was Quite in the way of walkin customers just a few popped in after me but they seemed to be busy on just eat , on looking through the menu all the prices were fairly priced considering the constant price rises from suppliers, the man who served me seemed friendly though little lacking on customer interaction the order took around the right amount of time to be cooked and bagged , the establishment was clean as far as the dated decor would allow but the place could do with a refurbishment as you could see the long term term staining and fading of walls and tiles in the kitchen I could see and may be a good steam clean through out the food and meal itself was very tasty and wasn't swimming with oil like some other takeaways , needless to say I will be returning for more takeaway

One of the worst take away I have ever had, chicken in the curry is square, obviously frozen, and as for the chilli chicken, it's just covered in chilli powder literally, and it's not cheap either, a portion of mushrooms £5

Used Jumbos a couple of times recently. Great food plenty of it no complaints really, not tried everything yet but I feel like I should! The place itself does look a bit shabby which is a shame. As a side note, I hope the scores on the doors rating will be fixed on next inspection ( 1 star last month is not ideal! ) fortunately it wasn’t hygiene that was the problem.

My fave Chinese in Birmingham with the nicest salt and pepper chips around! Their spring rolls are lovely and crispy with a great crunch. Owned by a lovely family who work hard

I ordered just after 5pm when they opened so had high hopes of hot fresh food. Bitterly disappointed. Yak!!!! The sauces were cold and the food was barley warm and had zero flavour. No flavour!!!!! ALL the food I ordered tasted like it had been in the freezer for years and heated up as the order comes in. I just want this food out my body. I don’t even want to drive past this place as the memory of what I ate might come back. Horrible. Horrible food. Ugh To end on a positive, (because I’m nice) the portions were a decent size, (not that it mattered, no one like the food).

Sorry Jumbo you just cant deliver literally, don't subscribe to Just eat and the likes if you are flippantly turning down orders through whatever ever plight you may face, you are either a delivery service or not,..its not the first time this has happened. Iam going elsewhere now, unreliable service..don't give the generical response "we were busy" ive already searched companies house in relation to footfall on the day i ordered..No excuse.

We order takeaways quite often from Jumbo and it never disappoints. It's excellent value for money. The portions are big, the food is always tasty, and they are always on time.

I visited this takeaway a couple of weeks ago. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was greeted with a smile. The menu is very extensive and I didn't have to wait too long for my meal.I will definitely be returning as the food is truly excellent. I would recommend this takeaway.

My first time here last night. Had chicken chow mein.. Delicious but requested it without oyster sauce how I like it, chips.. Perfect.. Prawn crackers.. Delish and bbq sauce which I'm on the fence about.. It was very dark and overpowering compared to others I've tried!! Good portion sizes, great prices and able to order online.. Definitely will be trying out more soon!!

A wonderful place! I got some food there on my first evening in Birmingham when I visited for a course at the university. The service was swift and very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, I think I have to go there again before I leave :) mlem!

I waited 90 mins for a luke warm meal. I wouldn't mind but I was only staying 1km down the road. Pretty poor really

i can only describe the food as totally bland no taste at all apart from cooking oil, not happy with this place, in fact i think they should change their name to yuk..!! we had to throw the food away it was that bad, do not used this place if you have taste buds because they wont be tickled with flavor

I can't believe how many poor reviews this place has. I have eaten my fair share of poor takeaways but this place is a breath of fresh air. Beautifully cooked, hot and on the doorstep within half an hour along with a friendly service, both on the telephone and the delivery driver. I opted for the Salt & Pepper King Prawns with a fried rice. 5 huge stars from me

Compared to London portion sizes are big but not jumbo. Food is piping and average. New as in rebranded, familiar welcoming faces

The order took a hour and a half some of it was cold. The worse meal I have had. The duvet was polite. Food gone downhill since I last had a meal from here won't be back

Jumbo used to be really good but now I would just OK. We found the sauce was very watery.

Unimpressed came across as though the food was reheated... curry looked curdled within 3 hours, food was tasteless. Will definitely not be ordering from here again and Will not recommended this piece of crap to anyone.... Don't waste your time..

Been going here on and off for years changed hands few times but not what it used to be.

Well, to be honest I am new to the area and this was recommended. Hot, fresh and very quick delivery! It's not cheap, however the portions are great and never had a bad meal so far.

Best takeaway I know of, have and will recommend it to friends and family. Without a doubt the best tasting Singapore rice noodles I have ever had.

It might be under new management but not for the better. The worst Chinese takeaway we've had for a long time, possibly ever. The Yuk Sung was inedible. We'll not be going again.

Ordered via just eat, order confirmed at 22:11 and delivery time given for 23:00, then time changed without warning to 23:30 on a monday evening (?!!?) ( was a coincidence i clicked to checked the delivery time otherwise would never have known delay) finally was delivered at 23:58. Delivery guys gave us someone's else order to start with, then the right order, then demanded money, when we said he was very late and asked why he said he was just the driver and demanded money again that he was supposed to finish at 23:00 and was working well after he was supposed to ( im sorry for him but thats a problem with the restaurant). Restaurant just happened to have closed when we called at ab 23:40, and im pretty sure the website said "food on its way" at about 23:15 and it does not take 45 min to go to a place thats 2 or 3 miles away. So all in all terrible delivery service! Then all the crispy chicken was soggy, warm ( not hot not cold) but clearly had been staying there for too long! Sweet and sour chicken looked liked jelly, spring roll was bad, the sauce with the other chicken dish not sure what it's supposed to be but its wrong/bad. To sum up, a long wait, unpleasant encounter with delivery person, dissapointing meal, regretting accepting the delivery.

I've always ordered from Jumbo and loved it but my latest order was very poor. The chips were extremely dry it was like eating crisps. The chicken wings were under cooked and had a smell like they were off/out of date. I am disappointed!!

Came really quickly in about 20 minutes, but they forgot my drink which is a shame

Excellent food, a shame about organisation and delivery. They added an extra 30 minutes to the delivery time and it ended up been nearly an hour, when phoned up to enquire they had no idea of the location of the order even though I received notification 20 minutes earlier that the food was on its way, they said another 10-15 minutes even though we were only 5 minutes down the road. Got the impression it was missed as no labels on cartons when delivered.

Delivery was sooner than stated as always.

Worst satay skewers ever!!! I don't even know how to describe how awful the sauce tasted.... chicken fried rice was so dry it was clogged together. I will NEVER EVER order from here again. Took ages to come, and it was vile. Hang your heads in shame whoever owns this place.

Really disappointed. Chips were stone cold and tasted like they were from yesterday, curry was leaked in the bag so hardly anything left, chicken in black bean was thick and congealed. Called the restaurant offered a free dish next time but I wouldn't order from here again. Worst Chinese I've ever had. Gutted. Waste of £25

Vegetarian Yuk Sung is totally delicious with a balanced satisfying flavour & texture further enhanced when wrapped in a lettuce leaf. Excellent! The King Prawn balls have a good taste with moist tender delicate texture ... one thought ... the batter can be soggy so could it be made more crispy because that would improve it dramatically before coating with the sweet & sour sauce? Singapore Vegetable rice stick noodles are fragrant with a light spicy heat with crunchy mixed veggies. If possible a little more sauce at the bottom of the container would be a welcome addition. Overall flavoursome quality cooking - will be back soon for another order. Thank You!

Quick delivery but the food quality was not so good, the squid smelled old/even reused, the rice was stodgy and cheap quality. Have had much better from other restaurants at a more reasonable price.

Hadn't had a Chinese in a while, & after trying a few different places I was put off and disappointed but I really really fancied one! So read some reviews for this place and decided to try it. Very glad I did! Best Chinese I've had in ages! Won't be going anywhere else from now on. Everything I ordered was lovely! It came hot and before the delivery time! Only fault was the salt and pepper chips were soggy but the taste was still there! Lovely! Thank you for your service 😍😋

The delivery was really fast, and by fast I mean fassstt.. The food was nice, fresh and hot. The only thing is I said no Mushrooms but they put them in anyway, so they didn't read my notes. Other than that 'twas great.

Food was delicious.. delivery was quick.

All the flavouring in the chow mein was in the bottom half of the food for some reason. Apart from that everything else was really good.

Ken do ribs are very meaty and very tasty but couldn't make up for the extremely greasy and soggy chicken balls and very greasy and tasteless chow mein. Also had to wait for collection (on an order of only 4 items one of which was prawn crackers).

1st and last time chewy rewarmed chips not very big portions ànd cold food.

Lovely food, and loads of it. Too much to take on in one sitting, but great day after too. No glutinous sauces, fantastic crispy sweet and sour chicken, ferocious red Thai curry. Will definately be re-ordering soon.

Delivered half hour earlier than the 1hr predicted time. The crispy seaweed needed nutmeg on, and the crispy chicken could have been crispier but on a whole it was tasty and hit the spot!

Disgusting, just eat text 25 minutes before the food arrived to say it was on its way, the restaurant is a 5 minute drive a way. Needless to say, the food turned up cold and absolutely disgusting! Curry sauce was hard and had obviously been sat there ages, chips cold and didnt even look cooked and the chicken was disgusting.. if it was even chicken.

Absolutely disgusting. I my curry sauce wasn't actually sauce as it was solid! It took over an hour and 20mins to come and restraunt didn't want to know when we complained. Disgusting food and disgusting service.

Really lovely food, just took a long time to come - just after order an extra 10 minutes was added and it took another 10 on that (over an hour to come), but tasty all the same - ordering again!

The salt and pepper chicken had changed recipe and was far too salty and chicken was dry and overcooked. Cheap quality duck with lots of fat
