Forgotten what a gem this place is. Great food at reasonable prices

My family and I have dined here multiple times- Jackie and Julian are great!

What a truly fabulous evening. Welcome was warm and friendly. Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. Definitely worth our five star review. Oh and try out the liquorice ice cream, stunning. 😍

As always a lovely meal. This time brought my husband as it was a Valentines day meal.Next time will be back to my daughters with me! Very busy night, lovely friendly service and tasty proper home cooked food.

Absolutely fantastic evening food is just exquisite

This is oddly only the second time we have been to Julian's. The first time was many years ago and given what a wonderful meal we had last night, we are bemused why we have not been more frequently. We will be making an effort to go more regularly.

We visited during The Open mid July 2023 and ate from the special Golfers’ 2 course menu. I had the pork dish while my husband had the slow roasted lamb. Both were beautifully presented as well as delicious and served with seasonal vegetables cooked to perfection. Homemade bread and butter pudding and baked Alaska followed; both were the best we’ve ever tasted! We were told that this place is all about the food and indeed, the food wouldn’t have been out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. The service did not disappoint either. Julian and Jackie are a fab team. Yes, the decor/ambiance could maybe do with a tweak or two but this place is a hidden gem on The Wirral and great value for money.

I can't believe you've been open 19yrs and this was my first visit. Absolutely faultless, gorgeous food and service. Everything was just perfect and we'll definitely be back!! Thank you Jackie & Julian, and it was lovely to meet you both.

The chateaubriand is to die for. The duck was not the best didn't think the masala jus went well with the duck.

Fancied somewhere different and Julians had good reviews so we tripped over from Liverpool. Restaurant was bright and airy with a kind welcome on arrival. I had the Lamb and Wife had Rib Eye, both where cooked perfectly, served with selection of vegetables and all arrived hot, which is always welcome. Wife had some dietary issues which where accommodated without issue. Definitely recommend.

Lovely food every time we have dined there, staff are very attentive and pleasant and chef Julian always comes out to seeyou and to ask you if your meal is ok, highly recommended 😀

Our second time of visiting Julian’s and we weren’t disappointed, after returning from holiday we decided to end the week by taking our friends to sample Julian’s excellent cooking. Jackie is an amazing host, always a friendly welcome and nothing is to much trouble. Our choice of food was excellent, the goats cheese tart was amazing as was the pork and steaks that we chose with the freshly prepared vegetables and to finish it off we couldn’t resist the Baked Alaska which was delicious. Thank you Julian and Jackie for making the evening so enjoyable, we will definitely be back.

Attended for a family anniversary. Customer service and attention to detail absolutely fantastic. Food was amazing!!!!!! The chateaubriand was delicious and the nicest steak ever tasted. Both starters and desserts were fabulous. Can’t wait to go again.

I ordered a two course takeaway for two as a birthday treat. It was delicious, a starter and main for two which was very well presented and good sized portions. The prosecco was a lovely touch, thank you.

A lovely meal as always. I had the pheasant, very tasty with some seasonal veg and potatoes. Also had a lovely cheese board to finish. It's always fantastic here and we are always made to feel very welcome. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area!

A beautiful meal at Julian's this evening. This is the first time we've been out since March but we needn't have worried as we felt very safe, everything was well thought out without detracting from the lovely atmosphere at this pretty restaurant. The welcome is warm and the service is very efficient. The food was excellent particularly the lamb and the pork medallions and we left planning our next visit. Thank you both so much.

Had a take away meal tonight as in the middle of Coronavirus Pandemic. Very efficient system for ordering and paying. Food was ready exactly on time. It was delicious and both my husband and I enjoyed our meal very much. As we live about 10 miles away from Julians we ate our meal sitting in the car on Meols Prom, so we had the added pleasure of a sea view while we ate.

We have Just had a takeaway from Julian's, lamb and all the trimmings, and a cajun chicken .well it was to die for ,Meat just melted in your mouth.So yummy.

If you haven't tried the takeaway menu that Julian is offering I recommend you do so. Obviously not the feel and wonderful setting that is offered in the restaurant itself however, the food is from the menu and maybe familiar. It does change so do check. Very easy to order and payment is just as easy. Taking in the smoked salmon starter and followed by chicken supreme was a joy. You can only get good food from those that offer it, in these times it is a wonderful boost. Thank you so much Jackie and Julian.

Our first visit to Julian”s Restaurant and it certainly won”t be the last. I had salmon encroute and my husband had beef. Both were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent too!

Visited for my wife's birthday so wanted something a bit special but not "over-the top". Booked by telephone three days before and felt valued from the first contact. Welcomed as we walked through the door and offered a choice of tables. Only two other tables occupied (7pm on a Saturday) although other people came in later. Offered drinks straight away and menus; given time to decide what we wanted and we both chose from the two course menu which had a good range of options for both starters and mains. I chose a haddock Quennelle followed by white fish and my wife had the duck pate followed by lamb. Chose the house white (a very palatable pinot)The starters were good portions and very tasty. The main courses came with a seperate selection of vegeatables which were cooked to perfection and there was just the right amount for the two of us. Throughout the meal the waitress was attentive, but not obtrusive, and we were given time to enjoy the food which was excellent. We declined desserts and coffee having eaten enough for our appetites. Julian's is a small but highly professional restaurant which offers a very personal and welcoming service. It has a quiet and comfortable atmosphere which suits our own preferences and feels clean with good attention to detail.We will certainly go back again.

Good service and excellent food

I’m a fairly new customer to Julians but this restaurant is now one of our favourite places to eat. Julian and Jacqui are so welcoming and the range of food on offer is amazing. Equally amazing is the quality of the food. The meat is so fresh no matter what you pick. If you are ever thinking about eating in Wirral, check this place out first. But ring ahead!

We visited Julians this evening, and although it was some time since our last visit, the standard was still extremely high. There was a great menu choice, with some good value offers on the table d'hote menu. All 4 of us chose the Lamb Estofado for our main course which was well cooked and presented with a good helping of vegetables included. Jackie was very helpful at front of house and our meal was served at good pace, with no rush. Julian spent some time with us after our meal, and before leaving we were able to sample some of Jackie's favourite gins. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening and will not leave it too long before our next visit.Julian's has always been a very special place, with excellent food, staff and ambience. Long may it continue.

First time visit. Certainly won't be the last. The service and the quality of the prepared food sets this little restaurant aside from any others

Oh my god !! That was the best dinner we've had in literally 12 months. And we eat out every other weekend all over the world. Julian is a top class chef. All prepared and cooked fresh. You would pay five times the amount for this quality menu in the South of England. A small place with warm personal service. Julián will come out and chat his customers and his lovely wife Jackie makes sure you're having s lovely time. I wish I could give Julian's 6 stars.

From the moment we entered this jewel of a place we were looked after extremely well. Front of house was exceptional and very attentive. The food was absolutely superb. We all enjoyed everything that we ordered. Definitely a pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended

Top notch grub with excellent service

Visited Julian's again last night - you know it is always going to be good, however Julian exceeded his usual high standards. I had the rack of spring lamb. Simply extraordinary and almost impossibly good. The lamb was tender, sweet and perfectly cooked. The mustard crust and the gravy lifted the meal beyond pretty much anything I have eaten before. He is also very modest; following service - he always pops out of his kitchen to meet his guests - he was happy to accept the praise, he also insisted that his butcher should get great credit for selecting the meat in the first place. The rest of our party also commented how tasty his food was, from the beef bourguignon, through the salmon wellington to the jerk chicken. The starters were delicious too. Great service from Jackie and her sister - a real family effort. If you're in the Hoylake area, feeling peckish or want a special night out, give Julian's a call and book a table. You won't regret it. He's probably the best chef in Wirral, despite what the Michelin Guide may say.

I know Julian through his volunteer work as a Blood Biker, we were both on a call out to deliver breast milk to the neonatal ward at Arrowe Park hospital and he mentioned he ran his on restaurant and if I’m ever over in Hoylake then to call in and have a meal.Well, on Friday I booked a table and enjoyed the best cooked meal I’d ever tasted and believe me I’ve travelled the world and rate myself as a good judge when it comes to food.Everything was cooked and presented perfectly, the service was exquisite and the bill was very reasonable too and for those of you who are Blue Light Card Holmes then there’s an additional discount too.The husband and wife team that run the kitchen and front of house are exceptional and it was a privilege to spend time with them.Will I be going back, you bet we are, I would highly recommend this establishment to you all, fresh food, bought locally and cooked to your liking and presented in a manner only accustomed to high end restaurants.

Warm reception on arrival and attentive service all evening. We ordered from the table d' hote menu . Whilst waiting for our starters enjoyed the complimentary crudities. We both enjoyed our different homemade soups followed by my three melt in the mouth lamb cutlets. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his haddock served with a cream white wine and grape sauce I finished with a soft fruit Pavlova. Food was delicious service great lovely evening thank you

We visited Julian's for a family birthday at the weekend having not been for a couple of years.

My wife booked table at Julian’s as we were staying nearby and so glad she did.

Scrummy food. Amazing scallops which cut so easily, like a knife through butter. Duck with vegetables and dauphinois potatoes; finished with chocolate fondant. Yum.

It is some time since we last visited Julians, I am pleased to say that it is as good as it has always been. We had the early evening menu and the three courses were all very good, Julian certainly makes some of the best soup I have ever tasted. Will not be leaving it too long before my next visit

Birthday meal for my wife at a place wanted to try having not been before. Sure it was a little quiet being a Wednesday but we rather enjoyed that, probably because we were made to feel so welcome. There was a clean cheerful feel about the place made all the better by the quality of the meal, which was excellent. We both enjoyed the food, the service and the visit and look forward to returning sometime soon. Based on our experience we would certainly recommend.

Generalmente mantener a un régimen bajo en carbohidratos, pero algunas veces podemos estar tentados a apartarse! De pasada el otro día julian y miramos el pescado 'n' menú chip (5 pm - 7 pm) junto con el budín de pan y manteca. ¿cómo podríamos resistir, así que reservamos para este viernes. Jackie era muy atento y profesional y pedimos la comida. El pescado rebozado (buena slosh de trampero del sombrero en la pasta) era excepcional! El mejor de todos. Yo estaba deseando el pan 'n' budín de mantequilla y no me decepcionó; mi mujer y mi hija no hablaba en todo como lo eran en el cielo flan! Julian, como de costumbre, salió para charlar, que no ir a cualquier otro sitio. Una comida fantástica y experiencia.

Went there last night, lovely atmosphere, food was excellent, good choice on different menus. Staff very attentive and friendly and very efficient. Background music but does not get in the way of talking with your friends. Have been before as the menu regularly changes, high standards every time. Julian has on previous visit taken into account specific dietary requirements of members of our party with no problems. Will be there again in the future.

I have been to this restaurant quite a few times so this is not a review of a one time visit. Everytime that I have eaten here whether with friends or family the experience has been fabulous. The menu gives good choices and there is plenty on the plate if you have a big appetite. I recommend Julians.

Went for a wonderful meal on 11 April 2017 for my birthday. Two of us had the set menu and the other two had table d'hote. Everything was freshly cooked, wonderfully presented and tasted lovely. The service was exceptional. Julian even came out to check everything was in order. I even got my dessert as a birthday present which was a lovely gesture. The whole meal was reasonably priced. Will be going again!

I liked the restaurant and would applaud the enthusiasm of the staff. I thought that my soup was really very nice ( a chicken and coconut broth). I liked the steak main too although felt it was a bit pricey. My 2 friends did enjoy their main courses. I was however disappointed by the baked Alaska which was not done in an oven but with a blow torch. My beer was also too chilled though I liked it (trappers hat). Bill £106 for 3 diners. Quite a lot for the provinces and I also noticed that the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night..?

Myself and my wife ate here last Thursday night and we enjoyed it greatly.Got parked right outside.Greeted upon arrival by our Waitress/Server, she was very professional, pleasant and chatty - we liked her a lot.I had a soft drink but my wife had a cider, thankfully there was a few different ones to choose from, often there aren't many different ciders to choose from.Menu was varied, we decided on the mushrooms and the soup, we both really enjoyed our starters, my soup (beef and tomato) was especially tasty and wholesome.Mains arrived, I ordered the mixed grill (think it was £2 more on set menu) and my wife had Lamb, we both really enjoyed the mains, cooked to perfection with particularly tasty and nicely cooked veg.Once finished we chatted to the Waitress/Server who was really nice, the chef even popped out to say hello, he chatted to a few other diners who were obviously regulars.Bill paid, meal done and off home.We will return, a very enjoyable meal with nice people.Well done to all.

A visit to Julian 's on 7th March was a tasty treat. This jewel of taste never fails to deliver, from the service (professional, friendly and attentive without being invasive) to the mouth watering delights that are served. I opted for Salmon, my husband, the lamb, both were perfection, tasty, well - presented and excellent value for money. The atmosphere was pleasant , the music, low and in the background, the lighting just right. If you want a treat, a celebration or simply good food, then a visit to Julian 's is highly recommended - you'll not be disappointed. Angela

Brilliant. The ability to not only deal with a serious food allergy but know the contents of all the meals cooked, in terms of listed allergens is something many places still struggle with. Great atmosphere in a very pleasant dining area. The quality of the food served was outstanding and enjoyed by all. We will be back (soon).

What a find. Julian's is a real gem. Beautifully prepared food by someone who really loves what he does. We were treated as special guests and talked at length to the owner and only chef about his food and how he prepares it. Julian is very aware of how carefully food has to be prepared and how allergies have to be catered for. I would dully recommend this restaurant, and it is worth asking about the master classes.

We visited Julian's on a trip to the Wirral, the food was excellent, all perfectly cooked. Julian offered the vegan among us a wide and wonderful choice of dishes that were 'off the menu'. Although we were all totally full we HAD to have desert as we knew they would be good... and they were!

This must be one of the best restaurants in Wirral.The food is really good and innovative. the staff and Julian himself are very welcoming,friendly and passionate. we truly do love this restaurant.

Had a booking here 9th Jan. Good varied menu, lots of things we would not, normally have at home. Well cooked and good value. They sell bottles of Trapper's Hat, Brimstage Brewery, excellent line of beers from this small local brewery.

Went to Julian's on Christmas Day. There were 5 adults and one child. We have been before and were not disappointed. The restaurant was full, plenty of atmosphere and enough waiting on friendly staff. The meal was all freshly cooked, 5 courses, good selection of reasonably priced wines and local beer. All in all a very good time was had by all and we would recommend Julian's.

We went as a family for a James Bond themed night and to celebrate my birthday. This was a really enjoyable evening. A mid courses Bond quiz was great fun and well thought out. The food was from a set menu, plentiful, well served and very tasty. Staff including the chef were so hospitable and respectful. Great value for money. Would we go back? Most certainly !!

We should have known when we walked into a restaurant bereft of any customers. We had booked the day before for a family occasion. The welcome was nice but it was downhill from here. Suffice to say the the food was awful. Leathery pigeon and overcooked 'hake', for our fussy and discerning child greasy disgusting chicken nuggets, a plate of brown food the she couldn't eat. Boulengier potatoes (unpeeled spuds sliced, dry and slightly burned) greasy belly pork minus crackling. On the upside the nibbles, tzatzike and crudités were OK and the haloumi starter was passable. Great shame for the proprietor as we eat out frequently but won't be going there again. As an interesting aside Julian's offer a 'masterclass' in the culinary arts!
