Joyce's Palace in Croydon

Ordered from uber eats the worst tasteless food I have ever tasted especially the okra soup no flavour meat not cooked properly very chewy I threw away everything after 1 bite the tomato stew burned again no flavour tasteless no wonder it’s cheap not worth a penny wasted my £51 NEVER again

Amazing food!!!! I can’t stress how amazingly delicious and yummy the food is at Joyce Palace is. I give it 5 stars ✨ Anytime I’m in Croydon that’s where I eat ❤️🩷❤️

I ordered peanut/groundnut soup from Joyce's palace, I was speechless I couldn't swallow the soup which had no peanut in it and oily. It's shocking what they sold me as peanut soup so disgraceful. Why open a restaurant if you can't cook. Peanut butter is not expensive so why serve that revolting soup. Shame on you. Their meat pie,kebab and tilapia is editble just okay. Watch sweet Adjeley and learn how to cook and stop the embarrassment, African food can be scrumptious if cooked by someone who can cook.

Ordered through uber eats to my workplace, have typically eaten more Nigerian food growing up because of friends but for the love of food this meal I had was a blessing, so tasty and incrediblely satisfying, not too oily like some places I've tried before and we'll packaged, food arrived within a reasonable amount of time and both me and my colleague who ordered enjoyed it thoroughly. Will definitely be ordering again!! I ordered the mixed peanut soup and fufu btw 🤤

First time visiting this establishment and it certainly was not disappointed. Order turkey tail and a meat pie for starters which were both delicious. The pie had a nice crumbly texture although the filling to crust ratio was off and the turkey tail was deliciously seasoned. The people i was with ordered waakye, banku and tilapia and i ordered fufu with peanut soup and meat. My meal was delicious. Good portion size, ample amount of meat and very filling. I tasted a bit of the waakye which was delicious - marked down however as there was no spaghetti accompaniment. My friend enjoyed his banku and fish, which i tasted and was nicely seasoned. The service was good and the food came within a reasonable time. Main downside was that some of the items we wanted wasn’t available. Would recommend this place.

Love the food, staff were nice, definitely a place to spend your money

Food was nice and all, but I had 2 pieces of meat which were both 90% fat and the rest was bone. I asked if it can be changed. The owner said no, no apologies or anything. Staff are not lively including owner. I asked for container to put remainder of food in, I was given one but I told the lady it wouldn’t be ideal for the soup and lo and behold my okro soup spilt. Went back to the shop and showed one of the waitresses and the way she behaved was not nice. She went to get another container (the same one) and thew it on the counter and transferred my food in it. I had to ask her to wrap it in cling film .. Their food is nice but staff are not friendly.

Food and services are great definitely recommend.

Joyce palace outdid theirself with the banku and okro, Omg so tasty and the portion size is very generous, I don’t even wanna talk about the meats and fish , gosh it was a lot , would highly recommend

Best Ghanaian food place in South London if you ask me. And I am a professional chef. I think their Chofe portions are very small,that would be my only criticism. To serve a grown man such a small portion is unacceptable!

Small and unassuming place but excellent food! They do the best tilapia if you go early as it gets sold out as that good. I love their yam chips as well and those beans... I could go on! The customer service could be a bit sharper but it seems like a family business so not many hands but no complaints from me.

As a Nigerian, I'm fussy about my food, but I'm impressed with the quality of this food. I approve, you won't be disappointed.

I haven't had such a meal in like 2years. I had to ask them to put up a better sign that will give people better direction

Don't eat here if you can't take pepper. Not suitable for people suffering with stomach ulcers, acid reflux, late pregnancy or persons sensitive to spicy food. Unfortunately the food at this place though very delicious is ridiculously peppery. This food is not made for the general publics pallet. Its made for people with fireproof mouths. I've never been to a restaurant that puts this amount of pepper in their food. It's almost not edible. Its strange because usually you would have a separate pepper source that the customer can put in their food to taste. I would have rated this resturant as one of the best Ghanaian restaurants in London based on taste had the food not been so peppery. When I ordered waakye it came with shito, I can't imagine who can endure that kind of spice when the tomatoes source is already extremely peppery. We also ordered banku and okra stew and this too had alot of pepper. Please reduce the pepper in your food as its really tasty but unfortunately not edible for many.

I had waakye with fish stew and it was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place.

The place is casual. I came after 9pm so I learned it's just to-go orders after that time. Once I could get the server pried away from watching the soccer game :) , he was very kind and helpful. The food was delicious, the tilapia was cooked perfectly, crispy skin, soft and perfect inside. and yams were crunchy. They were out of plantain that late, my main reason for going, but I guess it's a good reason to go back, and I will they had an amazing selection of Ghanian food at reasonable prices.

From the reviews I was worried that the service would be bad but they were quite nice! They dint have that stupid attitude that a lot of waiters in African restaurants have. The food was very nice and excellent value for money. Our main meals cost less than £15 each. I would thoroughly recommend you try them!

My favourite African restaurant. I'm from Sierra Leone but Joyce Palace cooks the way I like my food to look and taste.

Fantastic meal and service we had at Joyce's Palace. This my first time but I'll definitely be back. The only slight negative is that the plastic cups they supply with their soft drinks are too small. There's no alcohol license so BYOB. 😉

Visited this place today. The Jollof rice was hard, I politely informed the lovely waitress. Joyce, the owner came out of the kitchen stated that in her view it was not hard. I politely asked what do I do about it, Joyce replied, "I do not know" and walked off. I was just left sitting there, Joyce could not careless. I was indeed surprised that this action was taken to see clients treated as nothing. Well, she did me a favour, I went to get a Caribbean meal a few doors down, which cost less, customer service, good portion size, & delicious. Retaining customers is obviously not a priority here. This is certainly not a palace.

Wooow, this was my first experience eating at this establishment having found it randomly online. The food was amazing, hospitality second to none and the service time on point (and I'm Ghanaian so I know what I'm talking about 😊). Would definitely recommend to everyone.

My fried plantains & tilapia fish arrived on time, nicely packaged and at the right temperature. Except for some scales on the fish, it was well cooked, a good portion and the fish well seasoned and very tasty. I would have given you 5 stars but for the scales on the fish which wasn't pleasant. I had to take all the skin off the fish. That being said , I will definitely order again from Joyces' Place. Thank you for delivering good quality food.

My favorite all the time. Am from Botswana but Joyce’s Palace is my forever restaurant. I sometimes order a lot to go freeze at home. I’ve dined in aswell. Taste!

Food was perfect but worst customer service. The waitress were rude and terrible that they didn't want to be inquired from.. The Alvaro drink bottles were very dirty and when spoken to answered rudely as stated one with braces on her teeth asked me to come wipe them instead of airing it out

Wow... just ordered jollof, turkey tails and meat stew and the food was fresh and so delicious.

Anyone who says the food isn't good is a natural born hater lol. The food is superb! Nicely portioned, fresh and seasoned to perfection. If I could eat here everyday I would. Tastes like home cooking. The service has always been great and welcoming. The only thing is they need to make a social media account lol. Apart from that this place is 10/10!

The food is okay at best, they intentionally delivered an incomplete order even though that is what they clearly advertise on the menu. When I informed them they couldn’t care less even though what they omitted was for a child and fully paid for. Customer service gets a zero the girl for sure was dismissive - management need to level up but personally I won’t be returning unless it’s for a refund.

Love this restaurant! The food is amazing and the staff (including the owner of the restaurant) are very kind. Prices are reasonable and the staff deliver food very quickly. Overall this restaurant is my favourite and I would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting to try Ghanaian cuisine.

Terrible customer service. One of the staff tried to accuse me of stealing/owing money when this was not the case. Too much oil in the jollof rice causing diarrhoea.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The service was poor - the girl in there was extremely rude and I paid full price and didn't even get my complete order. This is the first and last time that I will go there.

I took my Family here for a Sunday afternoon meal. The Service was quite good and the food was quite nice. My only concern was when I asked for the Bill, I was given a Post it note" with the amount hand written on it. I was told the machine was not working. Overall I would go again.
