John's Supper Bar in Liverpool

Words can't describe how horrific this chippy is. From the staff getting the order wrong twice . To dropping half the food and having to re do it . Chips whiter than the boiled rice . Warm and soggy well undercooked even the bin refused them . Definitely wouldn't go backnor recommend . Stay away

Waited almost 10 minutes for just chips and gravy. The chips could have done with a minute longer in the fryer. Seemed a bit expensive £6.50 for 2 portions of chips and gravy but there was plenty of gravy

Just been charged £6 for a chicken burger and chips they were both rock hard with icy cold lettuce that lost the colour

Just paid £5 for small fish dinner all went in bin fish was disgusting looked as if had been lying in warmer fo a while .

Great food with great prices. The staff are friendly and they work so hard. This is our favourite chippy now!

Going quickly downhill after approx 40 years of almost 5 star quality and service.

Just paid £20 for 2 portions of the grossest fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Anemic chips, fatty soaked and covered “fish”. Not sure what the curry was meant to be but nevertheless it all went in the bin!! I will not be returning here again.

Orderd 3 large meals £21 pound only had boiled rice but they only give you small rice with the meals surely you should get large rice aswell ? Dont think the staff new what they was on about i did try and question it but they said they don't make the rules!Loads of meal left with no rice ile be going back to yummys down the road

Disgusting undercooked chips. But before I got them the staff were really snotty and rude to me when I didn’t have cash. Patronisingly telling me it’s cash only like it’s a known thing. It’s weird that in 2024 this place is cash only. As I was walking out unable to pay a kind customer stepped in and paid for me. That was nice and good karma will come to him but I won’t be coming back anyway. I think it’s stuck in the past. It’s no byrnes

Edited my review as last 2 months the chips haven't been that nice and was going to start going another chippy but went in tonight and they was perfect. Was a different girl cooking tonight hopefully they will stay enjoyed our meal tonight ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If I could have leaved zero stars I would of it's discusting food uncooked chips curry sauce and gravy sauce like a brick of jelly before the owner says it's not this chippy it is John's chippy facing farmers arms pub ladbrooks betting shop is few doors away and the old funeral parlour is over road hardachers it used to be. so stop telling people there wrong it's Ur shop mayby you should put more effort into your food than you do saying it's not my shop.and train Ur staff to cook and mayby yourself as you lead by example.

Always a great meal from John's. Girls are great and serve quickly. I particularly like the small meals, which are not exactly small !!

We booked our meals by phone ,it was ready when i arrived ,only 10 minutes later ,and the food is delicious, good prices too

Tried about 20 places around liverpool for chicken fried rice. This is in the top 3.

Could taste the old oil on the chips Iv only ever got fish cakes from there there decent but what I had today has made me Sick can’t say I’ll be going back

First time here last night had char su mushrooms salt and pepper spring rolls fish chips 2 fish cakes (savoury) and chopsuey roll peas and curry. Got served by Tracey who clearly new her job all food was hot and tasty will definitely be coming back 5 stars all round

This is one of my local chippies and I have never tasted anything like it. Appalling chips that are like rubber and the fish cakes have been kicked along a curb then put through the drain. Ended up feeding to dog but he didn't even want it. Will not be going back but such a let down considered the staff were friendly.

Just been ordered King Prawn omelette half rice half chips with peas young tall girl took my order I asked if the peas were on the meal she bluntly said yes got home no peas talk about dosy gone down nick since other girls left, chips were fry ups going to find a new chippy one were they understand your order and get it right and food tastes 100 percent better

Just been to this chippy and ordered a meal and being the first in the queue thought ok won't wait long.... people came in ordered meals and went home..I'm still waiting 10 minutes in...the assistant asked what are you waiting for..told her and hey presto there's our meal coming out.. everyone else has been served and gone..I ask can I look at my meal because it's just come from nowhere including a cup of curry so who poured that out because I never seen anyone doing it...sorry about that ...here's a bottle of lemonade for waiting so long...stick it where the sun don't shine..won't be going there ever again ..right down the nick since it's full of new people...highly not recommended

Got curry an chips, absolutely VILE. It was the chip shop by the farmers arms near queen's drive on townsend were I live, It wasn't an on line order I called in.

Member of staff who took my order apeared unclean Wiped face with bare hand and coughed over my order no masks or any covid restrictions disgusting walked out

In response to the owners comment stating I ordered from Anfield...no I didn't...you are opposite the farmers arms...I ordered the food from your store...

Hot char,sui sandwich with fried onions and salad fab curry prawn green pepper fried rice wonderfull and not forgetting the cream soda excellent food 😍😍😍😍👍

First time here today got curry and chips , a portion of potato scallops and chicken and sweetcorn soup prawn crackers and to my amazement the original cream soda which I haven't seen in years so got 3 bottles of that for ice cream soda food was lovely 10 out of 10 fab 👍👍👍👍

Horrendous meal delivered 90 minutes after ordering cold wrong starters and rice missing. No vegetables in meal and soup full of msg. Never again

Over 2 hours waiting for delivery. Was told "it's out with the driver" 3 times. Fair enough if up against it. No need to lie to customers tho. Joke of a place

Friendly chip shop which we went to when visiting Liverpool... amazing chips, gravy and curry sauce and as a 1st timer trying Savoury Cakes.. they were very tasty... would highly recommend, especially on a wet winters afternoon. 😬

This the third time now you serve kids old food. And dont pretend you dont know! Its not always the kids eating the food you sell to them. Shame on you. Cant even serve proper chips. Ridicilous.

1st time being in there on Tuesday as it's not near me and could have stayed all day. So funny, all me and my mate done was laugh. The girls were so funny with some old man and it made my day. Food was nice as well but even if it wasnt I'd still go for a laugh x x x

Waited over two hours for delivery & when it came it wasn’t all there

Delivery never turned up. And they never called me to say driver didn’t turn up. Waiting over 1 hour and 15 mins till I called.

Love the mini meals, chicken foo yung and salt and pepper chips are my fav. Would recommend.

Half cooked chips full of eyes, flavourless gravy and staff who look like they'd chin you if you said anything. Once found a huge black hair in a meal. Also had items left out of orders in the past. If you have an allergy you'd end up dead going here. Find all manner of extra unwanted additions in the Chinese meals.

Rude and unhelpful staff who preferred to talk to their mate than take money, the scallops dripped with grease, literally, and were just slices of raw potato inside. Horrendous, will not be going back.

What has happened to this place . Was really good at one point. Now the chunky arrogant woman behind the counter couldn't be arsed with anyone. Good luck with tge business if she's just staff. and you come out smelling like the fryers. Try changing your oil. Filthy and never a gain
