Love this place .. the staff are the best around. So energetic .. we travel from Slane at least once a month to have our dinner ;! And have done for over 7 years ..

Beautiful food and surroundings

Went on Thursday evening and had the Steak night special. The steaks were excellent, cooked to perfection with onions and mushrooms on a sizzling griddle. The pints of Guinness were the best I've had in a long time. Definitely worth a visit. Been back for the steak a few times and they've never let me down. The bar area is nice and cosy with a wood burning stove and the pints of Guinness are great.

Outstanding little gem of a bar with outstanding food, fantastic starters and the filllet steak was cooked to perfection, not many in on a Wednesday put who were in were very welcoming , service from the 2 girls was excellent, lovely roaring fire too. Been in this business for 40 yrs and I don’t please easily but this little place is definitely a place that needs to be recognised 100%

Lovely staff and amazing food. No bother at all for them to do dairy free food. Always big portions and lovely selection of drinks. Guinness 0.0 and regular Guinness the best about.

I have been here 2 weekends in a row, one was a Sunday with my mother we went for the turkey and ham, food was beautiful as always, such a lovely atmosphere and vibe in Johnny murphys, the service is fabulous we were also here tonight for a steak night and it was excellent, we would like to thank the waitress with the glasses as she is very pleasant and helpful x thank you

Had a really enjoyable dinner on a Wednesday evening. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Massive portions for the dinner and good selection on the menu.

We called in to the takeaway for food after a long day at Slieve Gullion Forest Park. This is a great takeaway which caters for all e.g. chippy, chinese & pizza’s! We got chicken fillet burgers and chips. Food was amazing and portion sizes were huge. Staff were very friendly. Only down side is they only take cash - hence the 4 stars otherwise I probably would’ve given 5! Will definitely call here again the next time I’m in the area.

The takeaway doesn't take card payments the restaurant takes card payment but once you have ur food and drinks they take payment after that cash only

I walked into the bathroom to find a dead rabbit and a young lady lying on the ground with it in her mouth so I went out to complain and I was given hush money and told to just eat my meal so when I was trying my best to ignore the body being carried out I decided it best to order my meal and I was horrified to find out that they didn’t sell mc chicken sandwiches. Like come on what kind of McDonald’s doesn’t sell mc chicken sandwiches, I then accepted this cruel reality and instead ordered a chicken nugget happy meal but then I was told there was no Johnny Murphy’s and that in reality I’m locked in a mental institution eating my snots and toenails.

Called in with family, had a lovely meal and service excellent. Great family area outside with animal farm

The food in johnnys is always good and I have been going many years, but my recent visit has ensured I won’t be returning again any time soon purely down to a complete lack of consideration for social distancing and COVID-19 safety measures. There were no signs to prompt and remind people about social distancing which I’ve seen in most places. Both staff and customers were roaming about with no regard for social distancing and people were crowding the bar to get served drinks or pay for their meal. Tables were not distanced far enough from one another and waiting staff were even too close to customers when taking their orders. Waiting staff were not wearing PPE and whilst it’s likely to be impractical (I think many places don’t use masks etc)....I’d have been satisfied to see them sanitising their hands between orders and keeping their distance from others (as best they can). There was no evidence of availability of alcohol gel for use of customers or staff. A one way system would have stopped much of the roaming of customers in tight spaces. Many people were drinking due to the bank holiday weekend, therefore the business should have had measures in place to ensure guidelines were being followed. Seemed very much as though it was business as usual. Such a shame!

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here, had not been in a while, and the food is always consistent and good quality, worth a visit if you have been hiking nearby on slieve gullion

Refused to serve myself as well as two of my friends because they wouldn’t believe our ID’s stating they weren’t our own ID’s. Completely ruined our night. Would not recommend to anyone who has got a haircut and looks even remotely unlike they’re ID, or looks under the age 30. Bad service and rude staff. Completely dissatisfied.There was one member of staff who was particularly unreasonable and unwilling to cooperate, Damien

Had a great lunch at Johnny Murphys. Alison and the staff were excellent and laid out the garden for us to use. There were 40 of us and they were really obliging. Food was tasty and we were able to get away on schedule for the rest of our run. Great venue, well located, Guinness was fresh and well looked after. All our group had a great time and we will be back again. many thanks

Stopped by today not expecting it to be just as busy as it was place was flat out but after a brief wait playing in the garden with my wife and baby girl. We were seated and served very quickly. Good food great service lovely coffee definitely stop again

We dropped in as a group of 7, and within a very short space of time, our order was taken, and piping hot homemade food arrived on the table. It was as totally described on the menu, and it didn't disappoint. I had the hot & spicy beef with a fried rice half and half, meaning fries accompanied the fried rice. It was exactly as it did, Hot, very hot, and spicy. Loved it. Friends had a wide sample of the menu, and each and everyone enjoyed their choice. Highly recommended if you are viewing sleeve gallon scenery, visit Johnny Murphy's. The staff are pleasant, knowledgeable about the menu, and recommendations are spot on. Im hungry for Johnny Murphy's typing this. Gorgeous :)

Myself and husband with two young children went there for New Years Day dinner. We didn’t have book table however staff said it is extremely busy but they can try to organise table for us. They sat us in bar part and gave food for children and drinks for us. After about 30min they had a table ready for us. Overall service and food was fantastic for such a busy day. Also atmosphere was good and all decorations were lovely. We will definitely be back.

Strawberry daiquiri was just water and strawberries complaint and was told to stir it made no difference.Also my potatoes were cold.
