Friar Tucks in Newry and Mourne

I've visited this place at least 3 times now It's a great family friendly place to eat. All the food I've had has been delicious and probably beyond your "average" fast food I consider it value for money and look forward to coming back when visiting the local area

Upping my score again to 5 stars. Cooking food again the way you ask. That's all you want for your tenner. As the food has been the same for decades. To be fair the good staff at FT's has always Great.

Probably lasting years, in the heart of this town, is one of the best places for a nice meal at a reasonable price with one of the best milkshakes I've ever had.

Used to go here frequently years ago. Portion sizes seem to have halved. The dining itself was drafty. The fire door to the side of the room was very breezey and sitting away from it just got a breeze from the door. The servings used to satisfy me which used to be a tall ask. This evening I wanted more food straight away afterwards. The toilets were rough. I left them feeling dirtier than I did walking in. I only went in because Maya Cafe was closed. I won’t be back.

We got the chicken supreme meal. The curry/gravy (not too sure what the sauce is) is EXTREMLY salty, but apart from that, the flavour is there. Without so much salt, i would give the extra star. The chips are fab. My son loved the chicken burger meal.

Great food crew seating and decor well worth a visit

Absolutely vile. Inedible. The coleslaw is white muck. No actual mayonnaise used and no lettuce or or pickles or anything with burgers.

The changes made to Friar Tucks where great from the original set up. You now have your own space, individual booth or tables, soft seating, pick and pay at counter and they bring to your table. Food as always is great. Their new coffee machine turns out a great cuppa.

The sight of pink, slimy meat was not only unappetizing but also a serious health concern. How a fast-food establishment could fail so spectacularly in basic food safety is beyond comprehension. To add insult to injury, the fries accompanying the burger were soggy and clearly over-fried. It was as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours before being unceremoniously dumped on my tray. The entire meal was a testament to the lack of care and attention to detail in the kitchen. As if the unsavory conditions and unappetizing food weren't enough, the staff's lackadaisical attitude only exacerbated the issue. Attempts to bring these concerns to the attention of the employees were met with indifference. It was as if customer satisfaction held no importance to them. In conclusion, my experience at Friar Tucks in Newry was a regrettable journey into the abyss of subpar fast food. From the filthy environment to the shockingly undercooked burger, the entire ordeal was a showcase of negligence and incompetence. I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Friar Tucks to think twice and choose an establishment that values the basic tenets of cleanliness, food safety, and customer satisfaction. One star is a generous rating for this dismal excuse for a fast-food joint.

We had a wonderful family meal here. The sandwiches were great and the fried chicken was the best I had eaten in Ireland. The service was wonderful. This is a nice place to enjoy a meal. Revisited Friar Tucks tonight 12/10/2023. Great food and atmosphere. It's just a good place. I didn't have British Sterling coins to park and a good man paid for my parking. Newry is a nice town

Friar Tucks legendary super FT Meal... Chicken burger with coleslaw and chios covered in chicken gravy. Honestly....its cracking.

Always the 1st stop back when I'm back from Australia. The chicken burgers and chips are the best here.

Lovely atmosphere. Staff very attentive to my young children and I. Only reason for 4* is kids chicken nuggets were too over done and my twins wouldn't eat them. Other than that was good

Our days shopping in Newry would never be complete if we didn't go in for our usual chips curry & tea before we get the bus to the train station. The staff are always so nice & the food hot.

3 staff on 12 Oct evening slow beyond words - ice cold chicken burger - staff farting about chatting hanging about making milk shakes for 10 minutes whilst hot food for others sat out for 10 odd minutes without the heater lights even on to keep it warm a poor run shambles of an outfit with lazy disinterested staff

Lovely food, comfortable, spacious environment, plenty of food choices for a range of prices and very attentive staff.

Decent Chippy. Wasn't blown away, but likewise, nothing to complain about in the food. Staff friendly, service standard quick speed. 4 outta 5 is my result

Gorgeous food, coleslaw, chicken only downside is it's expensive.

Not as good & portions not as big as I remember from years ago but that may be rose tinted memory glasses. Coleslaw still great though.

I got a delivery for a garlic cheese chip and I could of walked there and back and it would of been quicker it was the worst food ever I was near sick I cried because it was so bad I wouldn’t feed it to a dog it shouldn’t even be a restaurant it should be a good recycling place when I ate it Greece was sliding of it and it felt like I just ate a tub of garlic dip I would give it a 0 star if I could

Anytime I visit N.Ireland, the first food on my mind is always Friar Ticks. I never miss it! I have tried various menu’s and they’re up to a good takeaway standard. I like their coleslaw and signature gravy sauce. Looking forward to my next order.

My spouse loves this place and we always visit every time we come up. They do an amazing chicken fillet burger with enough coleslaw to feed a family.

We went to it at roughly 3, got told was too busy. Came back later got kicked out. Nearly got voice raised at. Near banned. Not happy with this experience.

Not great. Sent cheeseburger back as wasn’t very warm,got replacement wasn’t much better,there was also a hair in the bottom of the chip container that my son had.

Just ordered a quarter pounder beef burger. To be fair it was not bad. At £4.29 price was ok. And burger when it came was fine. Staff were nice. Will try again.

I'm from London and live in Belfast. Was in Newry for the afternoon. This place exceeded my expectations and made my trip much more enjoyable. Absolutely gorgeous! Will definitely get chicken fries with gravy sauce again. Best chicken shop of all times!

Great food, super sauce is ace and chicken burgers are to die for. But they do have a tenancy to re cook food leading to dry and soggy food. (4/5) Update 2022, They're legendary chips are no more 😭. Food nice...portions have got smaller

Had a takeaway on Sunday,, What a disappointment,, I'd a chicken box and I'd say there would have been more taste of the box ,, Super sauce on chips had no flavour at all,, Coleslaw not the same as it use to be ,, Disappointed is not the word..

Food was good but let down by the staff, for whom it seems like a chore to be asked for anything extra after having what seemed like an awful long track carrying the food to our table..... definitely wouldn't make me want to return anyway soon.

Unbelievable food, got a chicken mix which costs £6.59 and it was definitely worth it, so tasty and filled me up. Defo would recommend anyone to try it.

On my last visit, the truth is that everything was very bad, service and food... we ordered the recommended specialties... potatoes, beacon, cheese and garlic sauce and another with chicken aggss!!! so much oil in everything... the weight was heavier oil, that the food...it's my last time there...it wasn't just one thing wrong, it was the whole thing...attention (bad faces) for saying that they had made a mistake and on top of that I had to pay £2.40 for extra that already I had paid when placing the order.

Nice food, but what's going on with the customer toilet that's adapted for everyone or so it seems? As it's missing a bar, which is broken off and the hand dryer in the way, oh and not work. Not making it easy to use, also no pull cord/no emergency assistance caller if it was needed.

You can't go to Newry and not go to Friar Tucks it is a BIG MUST DO ! My favourite is a chicken burger meal, I always ask for PLENTY on the Chicken burger which means loads of Friar Tucks famous coleslaw you won't regret it. The Monaghan Street branch has a large seating area where you can enjoy your meal but I've had many a chicken burger take away sitting in the car. I'm sure the other choices on the menu are good but I've been stuck on the Number 1 with plenty from when Friar Tucks opened in Sugar Island in the 1980's !
