We were looking around for somewhere to have lunch and were so pleased to find this place! Friendly, calm atmosphere and welcoming staff. Nice decor. Wide range on menu. Partner and daughter were delighted with their ‘full English’s’ and I loved my chicken ciabatta. Great portion sizes and well priced. Food was good quality and nicely presented. Happy to recommend!

Wow….this place had everything…the sandwiches were so out of the box..something different…forget your usual sandwich fillers and the portion sizes were like a meal…for a veggie they had so much choice…loved this place!…busy but accommodating as they managed to get two tables pushed together for our small family even when busy…the staff were so friendly and we felt like we were a regular…loved this place! Walk into town, away from the sea front and hopefully you’ll have the same experience! They have the visitor at heart! Keep doing what you’re doing! We will be back soon!

Wonderful little bistro. Great service. We had a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon and the biggest bacon sandwich. Absolutely delicious. Will look at coming back later in the week.

Excellent Full Vegan Breakfast. Johnny C's offers an amazing Full Vegan Breakfast - so good in fact that we have been back twice in 1 week - and will be regular visitors from now on. It's nice to have able to have a proper Full English 'veganized' with delicious plant based 'meaty' sausages and bacon, together with excellent scrambled Tofu and the usual accompaniments - plus a great Oat Cappuccino. Since their makeover, the decor is modern and clean with a good atmosphere, prompt and friendly service and reasonable pricing. A real asset to visitors to Ilfracombe and locals alike. Top marks.

Popped in for a coffee after a cold walk on the harbour, and wow what a fab find! Recieved a very warm welcome, lovely coffee and gorgeous cake! Returned a few days later to try their breakfast, and wasn't disappointed. Gutted that we were only visiting the area, as this would definitely become a regular spot if we were local!

The smell of coffee made us walk I. And find this amazing bar. Cakes were amazing, coffee just right and the crunchie milkshake was delicious. The atmosphere is v cool and chilled. Johnny is just fab with a great back bar and gin selection. Next time we visit we will come for the evening.

Lovely service & great food. Will definitely visit again. We went there for brunch & there was a great choice - I chose poached eggs , avacado & bacon. Eggs were cooked spot on, runny when you cut into them.

This place is a hidden gem. My partner and I were looking for a place to work from whilst away from home and I can not recommend this place enough. Great food, Wi-fi, and excellent service.

We were previously regular visitors to johnny C's Diner before it was transformed. Still highly recommended for really good food and coffee and now has lovely ambience; warm and welcoming. HIGHLY recommended for couples but also for families.

Stopped by for a takeout almond milk mocha with the family. Children had choc orange milkshake and hubby a tea. Best Mocha I have had in ages very friendly staff will defo be back in for food :)

Went there this week and last for spicy chicken-y stuff, good service from Lucy, the fake-blonde waitress who is hotter and sweeter than the chilli sauce she brought over with a smile. Also served by owner's son who is very entertaining on his father's ,er... adventures. Food was tasty, good quality and portions, fries and coleslaw were free with my order.

Insanely good value for money, five of us came in for lunch and left full to the brim with smiles all round. The pancakes are huge with super tasty syrup on the side, the cheesy piggy fries were deliciously tasty and such a big meal for a great price. The staff were absolutely incredible and lovely people to chat to! Even the pup was taken care of with a big bowl of water! Would highly recommend this diner to anyone looking for good grub without putting a hole in your pocket!! Thank you!!

We left absolutely full, and very happy. My daughter had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup...they were HUGE, 3 massive pancakes with 2 rashers of bacon, butter and a jug of syrup. She couldn't finish it, although it was so tasty. I had the chicken salad, again a big bowl full generous with the chicken and a nice mixed salad with plenty of tomatoes and peppers etc in it too. Also, an Oreo milkshake and a coffee . The only disappointment was the coffee which I found to be slightly bitter for my taste, but others may be fine with it, just a personal taste/preference thing. Service was quick, and staff friendly. I hope it is busy for them, it's a bit tucked away up in the High Street for a lot of the tourist trade who seem to stay down by the Quay, it's well worthwhile going up to the High Street to visit this place.

If you love a good coffee you really should go here. There is a surprisingly varied menu and all the food served is of the best quality - and lots of it! Give it a go - you won't be disappointed and I'm sure will want to go back.

Went to this diner for the first time today. Had a vegetarian breakfast . Absolutely fantastic food . Very good value for money. Staff attentative and very friendly. The decor is amazing with lots of American themed items including Elvis Presley. Would highly recommend a visit.

I haven't visited for a while, The last time I did it was busy full of life and a pleasure to visit. This time, on arrival there was one other couple who were getting ready to leave. I place my order and went to the toilet which is down 2 flights of stairs looking right in to the kitchen.... As I opened the door to the toilet I was hit with an overwhelming smell of urine. The whole place looks like in needs a good clean and a make over. The food was also quite boring. We waited at least 20 minutes and I only had a Prawn Salad which came in a bowl with some cucumber, red onion lettuce with the prawns on the top. It was just a large prawn cocktail without the bread. Not a lot of choice for people trying to eat healthy.

I visited on a Monday early lunchtime in half term and was very pleasantly surprised! Amazing menu - very varied with lots of breakfast and easy lunch options. I’m always a bit dubious about greasy spoon type diners but the food was fab quality, and crazy generous portions. The staff were super friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Although I didn’t have a vegan option there were so many! And they all sounded delicious. Am only here til Wednesday but think we’ll be returning for another meal before we leave 🙈😀👌

We regularly enjoy a takeaway/delivery from Johnny C's - and we always enjoy it thoroughly. It's great that they offer quite a few Vegan options with plant-based Hot Dogs, Burgers and Wraps - all totally delicious and top quality. Be warned though, the portion sizes are VERY generous. Delivery is always swift and on time and the food is always hot and well presented. Great value and fresh - highly recommend.

Nipped in here for a takeaway coffee, very clean and Covid friendly and friendly helpful staff, and the best decaf and normal coffee served with a smile 😊

The menu is pretty wide and varied so take your time as we ordered the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen! You literally need 4 hands to eat it so sharing it makes better sense than trying to eat it all yourself! Also the side order...

Dropped upon this special place during a day out to Ilfracombe. Outstanding diner food. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Kids food was great too and the drinks we had were fantastic. Freshly made smoothies and shakes. A real gem if you are visiting North Devon

Johnny C’s did not let us down, adult portion is 5 American style pancakes which beat us all, me and the eldest had bacon on ours which was top quality, drenched in maple syrup set us up for a days body boarding. We will be back.

Stopped for breakfast in this American style diner. Scrambled egg on toast and french toast were both well cooked on good quality thick harvester bread (not anaemia sliced thin bread). Good value. The raspberry milkshake was creamy and fresh. Ok place to stop.

Best breakfast ever We visit our son regularly here in ilfracombe. But never used this cafe before my goodness it was amazing all cooked to perfection perfect egg. Thick uncut bread toasted with butter tasty sausage the full english.we will definitely be back. great value it was massive came with a tea coffee or can of pop and toast all this for £6.70 the guys who served us were pleasant and we didnt wait long to eat. Top marks guys

Came to the restaurant for breakfast after reading the great reviews. They kindly saved a large table for us in the centre of the restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes from breakfast wraps to pancakes. The food was fresh and came with large portions making it great value for money. Will definitely visit again.

This has a nice easy vibe. The food was yummy and huge portions - very American. We had wraps with chorizo cheesy chips. You could share and be full!

A cup of coffee here on a cold Sunday morning turned into a treat as we admired the decor of Johnny C's diner, retro style with a life-size Elvis proppping up the bar and a customer-friendly juke box, with all those old hits from the 50s and 60s available at the touch of a button. Good vibes from staff, who cheerfully sang along. Loved the ambience - and people around us seemed to be enjoying their breakfasts too.

For two mornings we took breakfast here as our hotel kitchen was having a refurb.

Once again a lovely meal this time a wyle coyote burger, never had a bad meal here , the chille is the best around for miles.if you haven't been here its a must .great drinks also.

I was down In Ilfracombe for a few days and couldn't resist NOT visiting "Johhny C`s Diner" for a delicious Milk Shake. Again It was as good as my last visit but this time I took a Picture. This Is my ONLY place I would visit for a great service and a yummy treat for the day. It Is £3 but trust me It Is well worth It.

Popped in on a Friday morning, good selection of Papers, really good coffee served hot! And lovely breakfast sandwiches from a comprehensive breakfast menu. Lots to look at and quick friendly service in a clean environment.

Took our daughter for her birthday breakfast and wow service was good and quick. The portion sizes blew us away even my daughter couldn't finish her big breakfast, I recommend it to anyone but don't eat for a couple of days before you go. 5 star

We found this diner by chance this morning and I wish we had found it sooner as we are nearing the end of our holiday. The pictures and records from the 50's are so good plus the furniture makes it a great experience. The staff are great and the food is not over priced. 10 out of 10 from me.

If you are looking for an authentic America diner, then you have definitely hit the jackpot here. The atmosphere was great and friendly helpful staff. The food tasted amazing and really good portion sizes with cheap prices! I've only given 4 stars, on account of the you Let facilities. It wasn't very well maintained, the toilet didn't flush and no toilet roll. If they were to put as much effort into that as they do the rest of the place, then it would be fantastic. That said, we will visit again, but won't be using the toilet facilities

We went into this diner as we were going to the cinema and needed something to eat close-by beforehand. The menu was far better than I expected (as a vegetarian), quite extensive and the portions were huge! The staff were so friendly, nothing was too much for them. The chef broke an egg as s/he placed it on my plate and so I was given another. The shakes are really tasty too. The music is also fantastic, but not the generic stuff you usually get in 'American' diners. We would have gone back again if we hadn't found this gem so close to the end of our holiday! Still, there's always next year!

We were really excited about this place but were left a little disappointed. My husband had the pancakes which were clearly freshly made and nice and thick. Huge servings with FIVE pancakes too! However the maple syrup was very synthetic tasting and runny and if we’re honest tasted more like washing up liquid! I had the waffle which was good but nothing amazing. It was presented nicely with chocolate drizzle, ice cream and cream but the waffle didn’t taste freshly made and the ice cream wasn’t a particularly creamy one - I’ve had better shop brought ones. Hot drinks were good and plentiful and were each serviced with a chocolate digestive bar which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and there was a nice atmosphere in there - sadly we just weren’t blown away by the food.

Have been here twice once when we stayed in Devon the second time we stayed at butlins in minehead and knew we would have to drive all the way down for something amazing to eat the food is 10/10 (especially the pancakes) along with the drinks and the price.

I was having a bad day. So i decided to have a cheeky burger at this establisment. I am caring currently so on minimum wage and part time hours, so the burger, fries and a soft drink for over 9.00 was a treat. I was politely served after the young lady finished with her mobile. The food was served within 12-13 mins and looked good. However after one bite i realised that rather than cheese, Jalapenos and onion rings like i was expecting i had received cheese and a particularly soggy hash brown. When i complained the waitress spoke to the cook who offered to cook some onion rings, as the cheese was of the same type. When i enquired about the chillies, i got a slightly irritated response. The key thing for me is i am not that fond of soggy hashbrowns in a burger. As.the cook left to "remedy" the mistake i reconsidered my options took my plate up to the counter and left explaining that i no longer wanted to eat. In fairness to the team i should of demanded a replacement. In fairness to me, i was having a bad day and did not want an argument about a burger. The bottom line is the product should of been replaced with no fuss.

Located in the High Street Ilfracombe this is highly recommended. If you are just after a good old fry up then you can get it as big or small as you like. Here is the first good bit, I never order one of the set breakfasts I always tell them what I want on the plate and they come up with a price - I don't care if it is not always the same! Giving me what I want is far more important!!

Have eaten here 4 times now! Hot dogs are breast and burgers are large. The portions and size of everything has it that I seem to over order every time I have been here so far! I couldn't resist onion rings and chips and desert and it was all too much. Really yummy all of it but I just odered too much!.

Have had lunch and breakfast here - both amazing. Freshly cooked. Hotdogs are great and the American Pancakes with Maple syrup are the best! Get a extra hole on the belt before visiting, the portions are large - superb value. Good kids menu as well.

After a fishing trip on a short break to Ilfracombe I decided to venture out Into town and came across this Diner. The first thing I noticed was the milkshakes so I ordered one. Strawberry. They had other flavors. Anyways, I paid for It. £3.00 and sat down near the window waiting for my shake. All around you was an American theme plus of course the music playing In the background. Here comes my shake and do you know what It was the tastiest shake I have ever tasted. It was Ice cold, thick and you could taste the Strawberry Inside of It. The service was really good and everything about the place was really good. Now I wish I had something else. I highly recommend this place. When I visit again I will definite try something else. After looking over the menu the prices were quite reasonable. Back to my shake It came In a see through cup with a dome kind of lid plus two drinking straws. Do try It If you are visiting. Five stars to this establishment.

Top marks to this classic 50's style American Diner. The owner has worked extremely hard and made this a great success. Service and cleanliness, food and atmosphere - all great. Nice size portions at a reasonable price too, and you can get a healthy option with a wide range of drinks. It really feels like "That'll Be The Day" here.

I've eaten here lots of times (about 20) and love the huge portion size and atmosphere,, think I was born 30 years too late because the 50/60s are right up my street and the American influence ticks the box,, Johnny and his team should be proud

My husband wanted to visit Johnny C's as he's a big fan of fifties music and we were pleased when we found that they were dog friendly. (I noticed a previous reviewer was not happy about the dog policy appearing to suggest that there was possibly a hygiene difference between guide dogs and 'ordinary' dogs. Basically, unless the dog goes into the kitchen and helps to cook your meal you are not going to come to any harm). The staff were very friendly and our order arrived quickly. My husband had a vanilla milkshake and a cheese-burger which he enjoyed immensely. I had sausages, eggs and chips and a lovely pot of tea. Both me and my dog thought they were very good sausages. My only slight niggle is that the fries could have been a bit crisper. Portions were huge so good value all round. And the music was great.

Food was fab, fast, hot and plenty of it! Excellent team, chatty but not annoying & very understanding when I wanted a veggie meal and a soya latte (which was delicious). Only let down was a lack of customer toilets but was allowed to use the staff loo in the basement down some slightly dodgy stairs! Would we go back? We're definitely thinking about it!

I've been a few times now and never been dissapointed. Lovely decor when you go in, a real niche of 60's rock 'n' roll to greet you with comfortable seating. A nice selection of food which is excellently prepared. all in all a top notch place for ilfracombe, well done Johnny and the team :)
