Block in North Devon

Delicious! Really glad that we opted to be more adventurous than the usual hotel breakfast. We had the Huevos Rancheros and Francesinha Waffles, and they were both outstanding. The coffee was very good too. It's a really funky little place too. 10/10

The best meal I’ve had at a restaurant in ages. Couldn’t fault the front of house staff or the food. An absolute unexpected treat. We only booked a couple of hours before and were so glad we did.

The coffee menu was so tempting however I love an iced coffee and was drawn to a “Vietnamese style iced coffee”.I was blown away as it was the best I have ever had. I only wish I lived closer to Barnstaple as I would be a regular in there. The normal lattes apparently are superb too. Highly recommended establishment. Well done to all staff.

Nice little intimate place, food was fantastic with lots of choice and the staff were really nice and friendly.

Breakfast was good, still hot. Whilst the breakfast was tasty, the order was 2 coffees and a fry up and a bacon roll. Would’ve been a bit better if the portion sizes were larger, as £30+ for what I ordered was pricey already. Taste wise, didn’t realise there would be pesto sauce on the egg and rocket? Did taste a bit bizarre but overall still tasty.

I was greeted by a very friendly delivery man, my breakfast was warm and delicious. The bacon bap was the best one I've had through Just eat. The bacon was thick and really tasty, the avocado mayo, just made it that extra special. Block has set the bar high. At last, someone has got creative, and shared a great breakfast. Thank you for restoring my faith in food deliveries again

Great food and service and highly recommend - wish there were more places like this in Barnstaple. We had the Kimchini Balls and Bao for starters and Katsu Curry and brisket burger for mains - both delicious and packed with flavour. Fries with Chinese 5 spice inspired flavours. They do an amazing Vietnamese Espresso Martini too - super chilled and strong coffee flavour. Perfection.

Great food and service - the menu was like a global greatest hits of dishes - wanted to try it all but settled on the barbecoa, pork belly noodles and shawarma and left full and contented! Wishing this place continued success!

Food was absolutely amazing! I had the avocado on toast with an extra poached egg and bacon and it was 10/10 amazing would definitely have again, the flavours the portion the quality. Amazing. My partner had the block breakfast and the portion was incredible, the sausage was huge!!! So yummy and he’s really picky but thoroughly enjoyed it! Coffee is amazing too, would definitely order again. Lovely breakfast.

This fantastic restaurant has a carefully chosen menu full of flavour and inspiration from around the globe Home to, in my opinion, the triple B - Best Burger in Barnstaple! Every dish I have tried is perfection and the service and staff are second to none.

Great service, lovely food & really good coffee. Had the poached eggs on sourdough with bacon, it was very good though I would prefer my eggs runny. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient.

What a find. Friendly service. Amazing unusual choice of breakfasts. The vegetarian breakfast was the best I’ve ever had. My family all loved their choices. We were all full to the brim but all the plates were empty.

Unfortunately the chicken in one of the starters was raw we complained to the staff and the manager came over and said oh It does look a bit raw it’s because there is a wooden skewer and that doesn’t get hot. I’m sorry it’s a bit of a poor excuse all food that needs to be cooked thoroughly should be . We all were very worried that the rest of the meat may have been undercooked also as we had all tried it including a pregnant lady. We shall never return.

Barnstaple is full of great restaurants but this is one of the best. Great ingredients, with great spicing cooked brilliantly. Food is extremely cheap for the quality. If you like your food covered in a 50p sauce don't come here. Don't expect fast service but take the time to savour the taste.

What a hidden treat! We recently travelled to Barnstaple for the Theatrefest weekend & stumbled upon this place whilst wandering around looking for somewhere to have lunch. It's very discrete from the outside, but the food & service was exceptional! Probably a good job we live far away, otherwise I'd be in here most weekends. It's definitely worth a try!

We were passing and smelt something delicious which was coming from here. We were looking for something different and The Block delivered! We both had Lebanese chicken with jewelled rice and fattoush. It was fabulous and tasty The owner (I think) came over to speak with us and was lovely. It was a great meal, just what we were looking for and didn't include chips! Thank you very much.

Firstly, I want to highlight the friend staff. They were polite friendly and very quick. Though it's a small restaurant it was popular and it was easy to see why. We had ordered the pork belly with noodles, bao bun, gyoza and the kids had a chicken burger and hotdog. The food was some of the best I've tasted. The gyoza was without a doubt the best I've tasted and the dipping sauce was to die for. Everything was cooked to perfection and in a timely fashion. Everything on the menu sounded appealing and the portions were generous. This will definitely be a regular eating spot when we next go to Barnstaple. Thank you Block

We were greeted and had drinks quickly although drinks are extremely pricey. Then our orders were taken. Waited over 45 minutes for food to arrive as the just eat orders seemed to take priority. As I looked around at one point not one person in the restaurant had and food in front of them. My beef dish I forget the name was mediocre. Chips were dry and overcooked like lots of little scraps. The beef in a brioche bun was ok but again quite dry. The salad was just quite plain. There was no toilet roll in the one toilet either! Had it not been a family celebration I would have made a complaint then and there.

Nine of us enjoyed our lunch. Food was filling. Choices for all. Staff accommodating --- re-arranging tables to give us all elbow room. One friend is gluten free and the kitchen prepared a small sticky tofu as a starter. The rest of us tucked into gyozas with a dip and spicy arancini balls. The mains were timed perfectly. Lots of conversation over a lovely lunch. All of us were well looked after.

Expensive. Lady serving me was arrogant and not nice. Not sure if she’s the owner, coz shes acting like one, but if you are an owner you should be nice. Guy in the kitchen was rude to my friends. Seats are uncomfortable. Salad is too sour. Chips have some spice that arent very nice.

Wow…….what a find. We chanced upon Block after a trip to the cinema, and I’m so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were a delight. It felt like a trip into Camden, with all the great smells and tastes of an international menu. Can’t recommend Block highly enough

We love this place, always go when we are down in Devon, food is immense, great atmosphere and good coffee too. They always accommodate our two border terriers.

Bit chilly down the end, but cosy blankets provided. Food great, even for group members with special diet requirement. Staff service excellent. Nice to see kitchen and cooking happening, really shows they have nothing to hide. Great place.

Incredible food. Went for the first time today after drooling over the menu for a while. Staff friendly, efficient, and made sure we were OK. It is more expensive than other local places, but that is 100% reflected in the quality of the food. Happy tummies all round!

We went to the Barnstaple branch. Top notch food and very friendly service. We had the English breakfast with oki and it was 11/10. Everything was cooked to perfection. Coffee was also fantastic. You need to make a reservation for Saturdays and get there early-ish in my opinion.

Five of us dined here in the evening and words cannot describe how thrilled we all were to find this gem in Barnstaple. The menu was amazing and we all struggled to choose as we wanted everything. What we did order did not disappoint. If you are looking for an authentic meal, all freshly made, with incredible flavours Block will not disappoint. Cannot recommend eating here highly enough.

Beautiful anniversary dinner at Block. We shared the Korean burger and the Barbacoa brisket, both totally delicious. We loved the fries and salads too.

I finally managed to get a table today and it was definitely worth it. I've seen lots of write ups all over social media, all good. The food was absolutely amazing right up my street. Healthy and a great taste. My daughter had the block burger, it was the best she had had for a very long time. The chips had a seasoning on and they were delicious. I had the chicken shawarma which was chargrilled spiced Lebanese chicken in a beautiful light baked flat bread, which was huge. The salad was lovely and fresh. Busy small clean restaurant with very friendly staff. I will definitely be going back.

Searching for breakfast on a recent trip to North Devon we came across this little gem in Barnstaple. We gobbled it all up before thinking to take any pictures but I had the Menemen with chorizo and the other half had waffles with bacon, egg and maple syrup:- both were fresh and really tasty. We went back for more on our last day but they were unfortunately closed so check opening times beforehand.

In the area on holiday and we wanted something easy for dinner so we found Block online and I'm so glad we did. I had the chicken burrito bowl and my husband had a schawarma and they were both absolutely delicious. Wish we were here longer to try some more of their menu. I always have the veggie burger - the seitan one I think it is. The food is good and clean! It’s always consistently good either. I haven’t eaten in yet, but definitely would do. Highly recommend, especially if you’re trying to be healthy or are a veggie. So good!!

What a find. Happened upon this place today. The aromas were amazing as we opened the doors. The staff were brilliant we hadn’t booked and did all they could to fit us in and we are so glad they did. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, each plate delivered to every table looked delicious and our orders were so tasty. This place is faultless, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and our kids loved it too. Only downside is we live too far for deliveries! We’ll be back.

I don’t know where to begin with how amazing block is ! I’m a Full English connoisseur and have travelled far and wide to find the best breakfast the planet has to offer … too my Amazement it was a five minute walk away. Terrific local produce cooked and seasoned to perfection, service with a smile and always friendly even when it is full to the brim … which it usually is. Don’t even bother going anywhere else if you’re in Barnstaple area I assure you there is zero competition !!

Shocking experience here after we asked nicely if we can move to another table. We are on a table of four and we just ask to move by the corner for more private space. They said four people have made reservations too. I said I’m not comfortable as people passing by behind me and next to me is the coffee machine area where staff is banging the used coffee. I felt like a child that I’m not allowed to move and questioning me how come I feel uncomfortable. I feel awful. It’s just so disrespectful. Won’t recommend this place anymore.

Just discovered this amazing place to eat. The food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, beautifully presented and imaginative. I had a main of Chicken teriyaki with sticky rice and kimchini balls to start. The flavour and aroma of the dishes was amazing. The staff were very friendly and had good knowledge of the dishes (which was really helpful when trying to choose what great food they had on offer) and all washed down with some very nice beer too. I throughly recommend as we will most definitely be returning!
