Yesterday I was in this store for our Christmas shopping. I would like to understand, who controls, with what criteria they allow certain things. Me, with 2 children, one by hand, one in a baby carrier. A Doberman dog, without a muzzle, only with a leash, wandering around, next to us and at the cash registers. It was yesterday, Friday morning, super crowded store. Love for animals is admirable, but safety should come first.

Visited here travelling from the North of England.. heard really good things and the size of the store I was excited to see what was available for Christmas. First let down was the SMELL. It smelt unequivocally of faeces.. absolutely disgusting beyond words. Rotten and repugnant sewage... totally throughout the whole store. Even staff were covering their noses... burst pipe apparently??? no contingencies... no air fresheners.. totally disgusting... smell was lingering and affecting their products including BABY ITEMS!!!! Surely this is not ok?? BIO-HAZARD!!! Speaking of baby items.. went to this aisle and the children's aisle above.. their selection of Jellycat teddies could be held in one hand.. abysmal. JL is listed as an official stockist on the JC website too!! Disgraceful beyond words. Save your time, money, nose AND health!!! Do not bother visiting here!!

How far has this once great business fallen .No wrapping. It looked like a box from the back of a market trader , from 50 years ago.

Apart from the Department Store areas being clean and tidy, I find the restaurant on the top floor to be very good value for money and very professionally run by the staff. They are always friendly and more than happy to help if needed. A great selection of food is available, I highly recommend the breakfast, which you can build yourself from the Buffet style area. A great example of a British Department Store!

Ordered an oculus 3s for me mates son I work away all week and decided to pay 10.95 for a delivery window on a specific day that i would be home. Waited in till the time had past so like anyone would do I rang John Lewis and to be fair it had been dispatched and was with the courier they use and the courier could and would not be delivering till Monday after 9.30 so an all day slot. I was not offered to have it redelivered on a day I was going to be home it would have to be a refund then reordered which is a pain as when uou order it says might be out of stock if just in basket so must be in high demand 🤔. Cut it short I was offered a refund on the delivery cost to which they offered a gift card to which I refused and asked for a refund on my card to which she asked her manager to authorise. I then received an email Dear Ian Jones, This is to confirm that we’re processing an amount of £10.95 as a gesture of goodwill. You'll receive this amount within 5 working days. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. Now is it me or are they laughing 😃 at me a gesture of goodwill it's money 💰 I paid for a service they did NOT provide leaving me sat there thinking I paid for a service it will happen. So next time folks if you are ordering for a specific day beware or they might be doing you a favour and giving you a goodwill gesture.

Failed delivery 5 times. Some staff in store are rude, and some helpful. Things missing from original order. Poor quality goods arrived plus the wrong colour. Failed collection after having to wait a week, which meant waiting longer for a refund. Google 'Top Secret Furniture' , they were excellent and got us the correct John Lewis sofa and on time as promised. Plus we saved about £300! Also recently saved money buying toaster from Amazon, that they wouldn't price match. Staff seemed unknowledgeable.

DIOR COUNTER - occasionally as a more mature lady (!) you tend to find some staff at the make up counters don’t seem to take as much time with you choosing foundation etc. This was not the case at Dior counter in Liverpool store (26.09.24). The lady was so understanding and took her time to go through foundation options with me, colours etc despite being on her own. She gave me samples to take away and try at home which has been so helpful. I will be visiting her to purchase the full size. Thank you x

I was going to buy a well deserved weekly "something" for my self, acompanied by my best friend. This week we stopped at John Lewis for some perfume. And here we were asisted by none other than Jo, a lovely mobile manager, and honestly If you are lucky enough to be served by her you will have had a wonderfull day. Very polite, high quality customer service, down to earth attitude and with a practicall approach Jo was able to pinpoint a lovely perfume fragrance suitable for each of us. Experience in telling the fragrances by heart as well, that is skill indeed! Plus, the small coffee jar helped as well, Thank you Jo and John Lewis!

This is a review of the cafe. I went in with friends yesterday and the service was embarressingly chaotic, and that's me being polite. The middle "service" station had 4 or 5 staff on but there was no teamwork going on, one till had broken apparently, ok these things happen but no one took ownership and advised customers which side to queue on or served them in any kind or logical order. The cakes on display had no corresponding labels so customers had to ask what they were, which caused more hold ups in an already slow queue. When I finally got my slice of cheesecake it looked like it had been dropped from a great height onto the plate, so much for presentation! Due to the chaos on that counter I then had to go across to another counter to get my coffee, where the two staff serving seemed distracted (again I'm being polite). When I asked if it was always this busy I was told footfall had increased due to the M and S cafe being too small. No apology or any kind of warmth from any of the staff encountered. Management here in John Lewis should be turning this increased trade into an opportunity , but these staffing issues need addressing as it was truly awful. Do they have team leaders on the floor, or do the staff recieve adequate training, as no one could have walked into that cafe yesterday afternoon and thought it was running well, quite the opposite. The only people who seemed focussed on their jobs were the people collecting trays and clearing down tables. Very,very, disappointing.

I always enjoy my visits to John Lewis Liverpool but I really don’t like that dogs are allowed to walk amongst clothing, particularly on the ladies Departments. Today a dog was particularly distressed which was ignored by his owner but spoilt other customers shopping experience. I am a dog lover myself but would never dream of walking him amongst goods that customers are browsing and possibly buying.

Absolutely shocking experience. An old women who worked at the store followed me around the store, even following me from one floor to another took my items off me and insinuated I would attempt to steal the items as she told me “if you really want these items they will be waiting for you behind the till” I only had two items in my hand as I was looking for items to help decorate my living room and had full intention of buying lots more. After the altercation I went to the till to claim my items back payed and then left straight away. Only reason I still bought my items was because I couldn’t find them anywhere else, if I could I would have 100% gone somewhere else to buy them I then told the person at the till that I wasn’t sure why she took my items off me and how this has never happened before and the till worker looked very uncomfortable and then said that she was probably trying to get me to buy more by freeing up my hands. If that’s how the store trains their employees to try and increase sales then the sales team needs sacking I have never felt so uncomfortable in a store before and I believe the staff need a lot more customer service training if they believe that’s a polite way to talk to a customer

I wanted to use this space to convey my gratitude and appreciation for the help I got from an employee named Paul, I was looking for a suit for my graduation and had no idea what I was looking other than colour. Paul approached me and asked if I needed anything and I hesitantly replied yes as I have had bad experiences with other places in Liverpool, such as Moss Bros who belittled me as I asked for help looking at suits and maybe help getting my measurements taken and they said "we only offer measurements for people buying suits" . As soon as I asked for help Paul was immediately helping me figure out what sizes I needed and what styles would fit me best, and he did so without being demeaning or judgmental. A process I thought would take a whole day or a couple of days was figured out and settled in roughly 30 - 45 minutes. I will definately be coming here in the future if I need any formal clothing sorted again. Thank you again Paul.

My boyfriend and I went in looking for a suit and didn’t know where to start. Paul came over and asked if we needed help which we gladly took! He was WONDERFUL! My boyfriend wasn’t sure what sizes he would need but Paul seemed well versed in estimating sizes and we quickly found a shirt, jacket and trousers that fit. He offered to let my boyfriend try each item on to check the fit and to see how they looked together and even brought a pair of shoes close to the ones my boyfriend had at home to get a complete look. He clearly has an eye for fashion as the tie options he brought over were stunning and we quickly settled on a new pattern that goes so well with the suit. Overall an amazing experience, especially after being turned away by Moss Bros because (even though we went in to buy a suit) they said that they only help paying customers. Paul was efficient, polite, well informed and overall a joy to have help us. He apologised for being held up by customers when selecting items from the floor but we didn’t mind one bit as he was still so quick! If you’re looking for a nice suit, go see Paul in John Lewis!

I was trying to source a discontinued John Lewis wallpaper range in your Liverpool Store, Augusten the assistant was extremely helpful, looked up the range, despite there being none available at that store he advised & emailed the Reading Store as they had some available there. I was advised that Reading would be in touch, which they were within 2 hours. Augusten was extremely professional & took the time to explain the process. Visited today to have something to eat in the café. The set up of the café is chaotic and a bit hard to get used to and people were jumping the queue - it honestly made wetherspoons look organised. The staff in there were great, one of the servers found us a table for space to put the pram and the staff behind the counter were friendly enough. The food was nice and not too badly priced. We made use of the parent room to feed and change our baby. It's good that they have got the room for parents to use, but the room needed to be twice as big as it was a bit cramped.

Bought an air fryer which was never delivered. Contacted Evri and they stated John Lewis never sent them the item. Then contacted John Lewis and they stated Evri lost the parcel and I could either exchange the item for a more expensive one and pay the difference or have a refund. Had food here and the rice was so bad - it was a mushy soaking wet consistency. When you pushed the fork into it, it disintegrated into watery sludge. Cooked with far, far too much water. The meal also had one half of a mini potato in - should have been at the very least 4-5 half potatoes. Really felt like a total waste of money. Very poor quality food.

Lovely visit to John Lewis, Liverpool today (21.12.23). Always enjoy a lovely latte in the Café and I bought some gorgeous perfume (Burberry Goddess) - the ladies on Beauty were very helpful! I also bought a Quality Street Xmas cracker (£7) which I had filled to the brim with the new Quality Street chocolate (coffee cream) which are only exclusively available to buy from John Lewis - will enjoy them with a coffee! Wow what a wonderful experience my young daughter had today at the Dior counter in John Lewis Liverpool. My daughter is quite timid but she really wanted to have a look at the Dior lip oils. Louise welcomed her, sat her in the makeup chair and let her try out the testers to see which lip oil she might want to buy with her Christmas present money. There was no rush and she was made to feel super special, my daughter has not stopped talking about her experience. Louise and Rachel are fantastic ambassadors for Dior and their approach is spot on to attract the new generation and new customers to the brand. Well done Louise and Rachel, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool and I shall definately be telling my friends and family about you. Two assistants left leaving one woman looking me up and down …… go on - she said What happened to …..can I help you? I asked her for the boots I had in my hand in the size I needed. She directed another woman to find them - they fitted and a bought them. All in all no help offered - I felt as if I was an annoying distraction from the fun I had obviously interrupted ! John Lewis your assistant training needs reviewing.Shops are struggling to get customers these days with the rise in online shopping , at least provide helpful, polite assistants.

Had the Korean style BBQ Chicken bowl and the Cambodian style Vegetable and Coconut curry. I doubt if any one from Korea would recognise the Korean chicken, but it was nice. The Vegetable curry was poor. It was mainly potatoes (so lots of carbs in the rice and in the curry) and was tepid....

The girl who served me at around 7pm Tuesday 7th November in the tech department was amazing, although I did not buy anything (I did come close to getting some expensive headphones haha...), she was super helpful and knowledge about the tech and made me smile and laugh when I'd been feeling lost shopping for hours on my own. As someone with adhd and shopping can make me feel overwhelmed and impulsive, she made me feel very welcomed and like I was a "normal" person! I hope she is acknowledged and praised for her great customer service skills! Thank you :)

Terrible, I visited the restaurant in John Lewis yesterday with my mum. The staff were very friendly but the food was awful. The quiche was tasteless and I thought it could be off The salad was bland and unappealing. I eat hardly any of it and so did my mum. My mum was going to complain about it but it wasn’t the staff who were working there’s fault. What has happened? I used to love this place for lunch. Never again !

Just bad customer service.Bought 2 full English breakfasts with my wife and they didn't give us toast,we had to ask for it and had to argue with them after telling them they forgot to put mushrooms too. Bacon was dry and hard,not the same as our John Lewis in horsham which we are used to.

Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the very helpful lady in the underwear section who assisted me in finding the right size bra. She was very knowledgeable and happy to go backwards and forwards trying different options. When my final choice wasn't in stock in my size she ordered it online for me to arrive the following day. Excellent service which is why I always go back.

Called in for breakfast, we should have kept going, the food was cold, toast cold and not even toasted just warmed. Staff seemed uninterested or over worked. I have been before and it was better this was the worst experience for a high end store I would have expected more. In contrast the staff in the store were really good and helpful

NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE… Just got thrown out of it for my child being a little difficult. A unwanted staff thought that my child was in danger when I was trying to get my child calmly off the elevator. She came and treated me like I was putting my child in danger. Talked to me in a unfriendly manner. Talked to a manager then when to customer service to get the name of the person. But the person refuse to give the name & the management not listening to us got security to remove us and only hearing a witness that probably saw half of the story & threw us out of the store. My child sometimes is a little excited at things. He’s not diagnosed yet but we think he might be Hyper & we are trying to handle him as clam as we can. The security said he had never had any of his 3 children run off… as if indicating “IM A BAD MOTHER” So JOHN Lewis is not a store to go for special needs people. STAY AWAY.

Not even worth one star. Bought a washing machine from John Lewis eight weeks ago. On Thursday it failed - so practically brand new. John Lewis attitude to our situation shockingly poor with one member of the customer 'service' team particularly unhelpful, arrogant and rude. Always been regular customers and supporters of JL but not any more. We will be taking our custom elsewhere.

The order missed a lot of items I paid for . There was no coke , sauces etc. To top that off the food was too cold for it to be freshly made. The greater cheese didn’t even melt .the cheese bites looked like they were cooked in the morning .The cookie was rock hard .

Came here on Friday 29/11/2024. I bought the Donner barm meal deal. Price seemed great until I took the top part of barm off to see only a few little slices of donner meat with mayo sauce on, no salad, that's it! Barm was soggy yuk, had to cook myself something when I got home, I won't be coming back here again that's for sure.
