Terrible! Waited in the queue for about 20 mins. They decided to open another till which I had gone past so those behind me got served before I did. No hot food left other than soup. Cold food was egg sandwich or bagel. The glass was open on the customer side and previous person took with his fingers as staff took tongues away. Feels old and miserable inside. At a time when retail is at an all time low, you are doing nothing to encourage customers back. John Lewis - try harder to keep the customers you still have.

It is a quiet day at the Trafford Centre and decided to lunch with JLP as usual. The food selection was minimal - mostly cakes and the sandwiches had sold out at 12.25. I then had to wait 20 mins to be served before being embarrassed by a member of staff. She opened up another till so I moved toward her before she started yelling that she would come and select people from the queue to serve them. I was the next in line and had to insist that she serve me. Horrible experience and will never visit again.

I will never set foot in this cafe again. The member of staff I spoke to was nothing but rude with a terrible attitude. I’m not being accused of queue jumping when I’m not. At one time they used to have someone asking if if you were queuing for hot food or cold food and would quite you to a counter to order but this doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. I put my tray back and left as I won’t be spoken to like that especially as a regular and loyal customer to John Lewis. Unfortunately there’s not an option to give this review zero stars or I would have.

Service very slow we waited 25 minutes! John Lewis has gone down hill. Cheadle branch too. Go elsewhere. The coffee didn’t taste very nice, had to take it back.

Poor service... staff member at till, not serving at counter, when we approached to order drinks and pay for our sandwiches, she walks away. Then she returns and asks if we were asked to come to her counter, to we said "No"... she follows up with... "well the queue is there".

As loyal customers of John Lewis and Waitrose, we decided to choose The Place to Eat as there were very few options for food in the Trafford Centre without going for greasy fast food. We've been to the M&S Cafe before and as with their cafes, they are all enjoyable and the food is of high quality, similar to the food hall. The difference in quality between John Lewis Cafe and Waitrose is much bigger, the food was just poor. Greasy toastie with very thick slices of ham which weren't even warm and soggy bread. Scones had very little flavour and were stale albeit large. The range of drinks was poor, a large amount was out of stock and had no type of frappes or milkshakes, why didn't they serve these instead of prosecco? Who would want to have prosecco in a substandard cafe? The ordering experience was unorganised and very busy, took about 30 minutes alone just to order. Very expensive too for what you got, ended up not eating the food and grabbing a Starbucks on the way out. Just skip John Lewis and go to M&S next time, so much better.

Typical John Lewis Place to Eat. Fairly small serving area but nice up to date seating area. Stopped for a coffee which was OK but the person cleaning the table next to us sprayed disinfectant over us but at least my wife got her coffee replaced.

Food choice terrible. A lot of things unavailable. Wanted the children’s meal bag but no sandwiches available so asked what was available on the children’s menu- only fish and chips and cheese toasties. Chose the fish and chips. Pathetic portion size even for a child and fish was really greasy. Service was good but let down by the choice and quality of food.

Stood at a counter waiting to order drinks & ignored, then realised drinks were ordered at the payment till. The till operator stopped taking money to serve hot drinks when there seemed to be enough assistants who could serve drinks - confused !!!!
