Only place in London that serves the best sandwiches prepared from fresh ingredients. Burned aubergine sandwich is my go-to at least twice a week.

Amazing selection of fresh food from salmon, roast lemon chicken, fishcakes, sausages and more. Each day a new soup. I wouldn’t get my 5 a day without it. Why eat lunch anywhere else?

I'm sure I've had better lunches, but if I have, I certainly can't remember them! The smoked fish platter is out of this world, cannot recommend enough.. keep up the good work guys! Can't wait to come back 😀

The best lunch spot in Clerkenwell/ Farringdon area! All sandwiches are really fresh, made to order, and a huge range to choose from. I’ve been working my way through the specials and other counter items and they are yet to disappoint. Never need to go anywhere else.

Fantastic panini ! Went for the first time ever today as I’m working in the area for a few days . Really was something special . No idea why it’s called John Charlick Foods because this is totally old school London Italian and absolutely fantastic . È stato un piacere : Grazie 🙏🏼 mille ragazzi !

Best sandwich in London hands down. Very reasonably priced as well for the portion size. Owners and staff are also the nicest people, friendly atmosphere everytime. Can't recommend this place enough!

I used to haunt this sandwich and salad place. John Charlick really understands quality simple food. In they 80s and 90s John Charlick himself used to order in wholemeal bread from a French Chef's bakery in the early 90s. The bread was to die for - dense but not heavy. Nutty but soft and made the most wonderful egg mayo sandwiches. They the chef closed his bakery so no more supplies. Still- the alternative bread was excellent. I have often tried to remember the name of the chef who had the bakery. Was it Marco Pierre White who also had patisserie. I can't recall. I would walk miles to buy a John Charlick salad or sandwich.

I have used John Charlick for catering lunches for groups of 10-12 people and there is always more food than we can eat. Their famous Chocolate cake is the talk of all my guests. If you happen to be around Grays Inn Rd don't miss a chance at a real treat that is John Charlick's food. Really Value for money.

I had a sausage baguette which was delicious, freshly made and reasonably priced.

This is, quite simply, the best sandwich and salad shop in central London. High quality food with sandwiches made to order, everything is beautifully seasoned and very reasonably priced - you'll never waste a penny on Pret again. My favourites are the roast chicken and avocado ciabatta and the sausage and hot chutney sandwich.

Best place in the area for lunch. Great selection of fresh salads, sandwiches and hot meals. Reasonable prices and the nicest staff!

I order lunches from Charlicks for my meetings and Training Days at work. I am Celiac (no gluten) and vegan, which I understand is quite difficult to cater for and many caterers in the past have served a very basic salad. The salads provided by Charlicks are delicious, with roasted vegetables, green leaves, lentils, avocado (i could go on) and a fabulous dressing. It feels as thought every ingredient has been cared for... 5 stars!

He estado yendo a John Charlick para mi almuerzo durante años y tengo que decir que la consistencia de la calidad es extraordinaria. Deliciosa comida con un toque y sabores "caseros". Fresco y saludable. Las ensaladas en particular están llenas de bondad. Además el equipo es una delicia. Amigable y siempre dispuesto a bromear o reír contigo. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Un gran almuerzo a un precio muy razonable y un poco de bromas alegres a la hora del almuerzo.

Mi experiencia aquí desafortunadamente no fue tan buena como la de los otros críticos. El dueño fue grosero y trató de cobrar de más por un Americano cuando cambié la leche por la crema. No tuve problemas para pagar esto porque me di cuenta de que la crema cuesta más que la leche, pero el dueño comenzó a hacer comentarios sobre la "olla de proteínas" de Pret que estaba sosteniendo: 2 huevos hervidos y algunas hojas de espinaca en una olla pequeña. . . dijo que se veía asqueroso y que no debería dejarlo en el mostrador mientras espero mi café porque contamina su comida. . . No estoy seguro de por qué el propietario fue tan grosero, excepto que tal vez él no aprobó el hecho de que le compré el almuerzo a Pret y que fui a su cafetería solo para tomar un café. Esta fue una mala experiencia y no recomendaría este lugar. Had a fantastic lunch here the other day. I opted for the chicken salad and it was one of the best I have ever had. The chicken was well seasoned and the vegetables tasty and fresh. Recommended.

Recently discovered this fantastic little place on Grays Inn Road offering a rotating selection of salads, made-to-order sandwiches and hot dishes. Delicious food, always something new to try. Makes you wonder why anyone would go to Pret across the road - can't fault it. Old-fashioned (in a good way) and without that corporate feel of some newer sandwich shops. Popular with the ITN and Channel 4 newsreaders and journo's working up the road.

Charlicks is something of an institute in the Holborn area. It's serving upnconsistently high quality, fresh food with confidence. I have eaten here countless times. Take your takeaway salad or sandwich selection to the local park and enjoy. Far far better food than Pret.

John Charlick is a lunchtime favourite. High quality ingredients cooked with care. Wednesday lasagne with salad is a particular favourite.
