Cannot speak highly enough of my visit here; the beautiful location, food was great, and above all, the exemplary staff and customer service that went above & beyond! I won't stay anywhere else when I'm in the area. 😍

A Dream Wedding Venue! 10/10 – I cannot recommend the Joseph Ambler Inn highly enough! From the moment we began planning our wedding to the very last dance, this venue went above and beyond to ensure our day was absolutely perfect. First and foremost, Michael, the hotel manager, and Jamie, the banquet manager, were phenomenal to work with. Michael was attentive, professional, and made sure every guest felt welcome and cared for. Jamie handled all the banquet details with a level of expertise and grace that made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Their combined efforts made planning a breeze and ensured our wedding day went off without a hitch. One of the things I loved most about the Joseph Ambler Inn is how they truly cared about their couples. There was no sense of being nickel-and-dimed at any point, which is so rare in the wedding industry! They worked with us to customize our day in a way that felt thoughtful and personal, without ever feeling pressured to overspend. The attention to detail was remarkable. From the beautifully arranged tables to the flawless timing of the event schedule, every aspect was handled with precision and care. Their day-of coordinator was a lifesaver—professional, warm, and on top of every detail, making sure we were able to enjoy every moment stress-free. And let’s talk about the landscape—wow. The grounds are stunning, with picturesque gardens and a serene atmosphere that made for incredible photos. It felt like we were in our own private oasis, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the beauty of the setting. With everything taking place at one location, the rehersal (and rehersal dinner), the ceremony, the reception, all of the guests in bed and breakfasts, the game and pajama night, and post-wedding brunch, it was perfect for our needs. Lastly, the food was out of this world! Our guests are still talking about the menu, from the appetizers to the main course and dessert. It was clear the culinary team takes pride in their work, and it showed in every bite. If you’re considering the Joseph Ambler Inn for your wedding or any special event, do it. This venue is the complete package: exceptional service, breathtaking scenery, incredible food, and a team that truly cares about making your day unforgettable. I attended a wedding at JAI recently and it was an amazing experience. Above and beyond all else, I was so grateful for the banquet manager Jamie’s care and attention to detail. I have a tricky and unusual set of dietary restrictions and Jamie made sure I was able to eat and did so without any judgement or frustration. Would recommend!

My best friend got married there and it was an amazing venue. They were super flexible, it was an all in one experience, and it was very cost effective. We rented the entire Thomas Wilson house, highly recommend to rent an entire house for the night before and night after. It gave us more flexibility. The food was great!! And the breakfast next day was exactly what we needed!! The place has beautiful details that makes the entire experience feel like a magical place. Her photos were amazing with the sunset. The videos are from when we toured the place.

This place is very beautiful. They were able to accommodate our party of about 22 people after a funeral. The service was phenomenal and we had a side room to our selves. The food is fantastic as well. My mom is handicapped and the manager was kind enough to open the bathroom in the big hall because it was more handicapped accessible. That is most kind. Thank you Joseph Ambler Inn for your kindness.

Joseph Ambler has always been a favorite dining spot. We had a terrible meal. The food was poorly prepared. We didn't eat our meals. No one from management spoke w us to make amends. Dirty dishes left on our table while bus staff walked around oblivious. Very disappointed after over 30 years of fine dining at Joseph Ambler Inn.

Amazing wedding venue. I didn't get a chance to go to the restaurant, but the food at the wedding was excellent, which is always a good sign!

We went for my son's birthday. The food was delicious and he got a lime cheesecake to take home. That was so good. The waitress was very friendly and very good.

Love love love the JAI! My husband and I would go here on dates early in our relationship, and I knew right away I wanted to get married here...and we eventually did! The charm in and of itself is so unique and comforting. With my family all being from out of state, it was so nice and easy to have everyone come in and stay on the property together for our wedding weekend...especially having our reception and after party when the guests can wobble back to their room! Whenever my husband and I want to get away for a night, this is our go-to spot. We have never had a bad meal in the restaurant (one of the best filet mignons I've ever had!) and the staff is SO amazing. The feeling you get when you step on the property is unparalleled and we can't wait to continue to celebrate our anniversary at our favorite spot every year. I would recommend this place 1000 times over, whether it be for an event or a night out!

Wanted to love this place. Fell in love with the photos and was so excited to arrive. Such a shame to find a neglected place. Lobby reeked of urine. Room wasn’t cleaned for us. Had our room switched but wasn’t able to use our upgraded spa tub due to electrical issues? Possibly a ghost? Then the breakfast served in the stinky lobby…. Mold. Serving moldy breakfast in a urine soaked lobby. Beautiful location. Staff seemed helpful. Worst stay of my vacation. Would not recommend.

Just what me and wife needed for a relaxing couple of days. Restaurant was very good.

I was in Philadelphia to visit my son and future daughter in law, with a bridal shower in Doylestown. I'm always interested in finding smaller, local accommodations when I travel and the Joseph Ambler Inn did not disappoint. I arrived, exhausted, after a lovely yet long day spent outdoors during a summer heatwave and was delightfully welcomed by the quiet, farm-house atmosphere and shaded spaces. The brick & stone buildings were all quaint, and scattered about creating "compound" of sorts. The staff was professional and helpful, the room delightful & filled with antiques yet with a large & beautifully updated bathroom. It was, thank God, nicely air conditioned. The breakfast was satisfactory with fresh fruit & all the normal offerings however lacked a toaster for the bagels they offered. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a more "local" experience.

I staid at the joseph ambler inn for a wedding recently. Lovely farmhouse looking place. The room was goregious and It felt nice. What wasnt nice was the $20 in hidden fees tacked on at the end. It wasnt a problem but maybe show the full price at booking or check in.

I have loved this place since in inception. It is amazing how they brought all those gorgeous old buildings to the property, fix them up so beautifully. The food has always been spectacular. I’ve never had the chance to stay, but I’ve seen some of the rooms and they’re so beautiful and look comfortable. The service has always been top notch. I attended an event there last weekend and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive and. Hard-working.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our wedding was at the Joseph Ambler Inn - start to finish! Jamie, the Catering Manager and Carol, our Banquet Hostess went over and above to ensure every detail was addressed. They are true professionals and a pleasure to work with! I went to a wedding and stayed here. It was amazing! I had no idea this place existed! The wedding they hosted was amazing! All of us staying her were in the same old farm home. Being able to have the ceremony, reception, and after party in the same place was perfect! The food was some of the best I have gotten at a wedding in sometime. Salad with walnuts, filet, dessert were all delicious! After the reception they took the rest of the desserts to the farmhouse foe the after party where we enjoyed the house and patio outside. It was an amazing evening with friends and family !

We are locals and on occasion eat dinner here. In general, the food is OK, not a wow and not bad, just OK. Here’s my issue: what is described in their menus is not what is served. 1. Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass over Sweet Pea and Crab Risotto, ** It is NOT served with risotto, but long grain “instant” white rice with peas and a seafood stock, cream, and butter. It’s NOT Arborio rice and traditional Italian risotto. 2. House Cut Prime 12 Ounce NY Strip ** It is NOT a prime cut of beef and it is previously frozen. I had one piece come out that was the width of my pinky cooked well done (asked for medium rare). Sent it back and then next piece was maybe thumb thick, cooked rare. In both cases the meat was grey and dull in color, even the rare piece. Zero seasoning other than a lathering of a home made sauce. 3. Half pound Kobe beef burger for $20. ** It is NOT authentic Kobe beef, as a 1/2 pound of Kobe beef for burgers runs around $50. Kobe beef in the US market is very rare.

This is a review of the restaurant only. Our experience was very mixed. We were having a family lunch celebration for my wife's birthday. I had the petite filet mignon and beet salad. The steak was so salty it was inedible so I asked for a redo. The next one was delicious and perfectly cooked - medium. My wife had the fish and chips. Fish was unremarkable but the fries were good. Service was excellent! However, not one of the 6 of us felt that we could recommend this establishment.

Sister had her wedding there last weekend. The Wilson house was absolutely filthy, water damage on the walls, and just not well kept. Food at the ceremony was far from top shelf, and was probably the equivalent of a Golden Corral buffet. The best way I can explain it is the Joseph Ambler Imn is like Peddlers Village, without the shops, and just missed the mark on so many levels.

I was there for a Celebration of Life. The outside area was perfect for displaying photos and for announcements. We went inside for food and drinks. The food was good and the dessert was good also.

The venue was beautiful, We rented the John Robert’s and everything turned out really nice

We were there for an outdoor wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, then inside for the main meal. The food was superb, the staff handled everything so well. Plan on going to there for dinner soon.

I want to so badly write a wonderful review of the JAI. The grounds are beautiful! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. Where it fell extremely short was the service. The front desk ladies when we arrived were lovely, helpful and professional. The restaurant staff was absolutely awful. In sum, staff was more interested in hanging out with each than working. There were so many issues, I would have LOVED to have spoken with a manager but we were told the hostess was the manager and she was at the host stand reading a book so I figured it would be pointless. I will stay at the inn again but NEVER will I hold an event or eat at their tavern/restaurant again. Which is a shame because the food and atmosphere were amazing. I am just so disappointed in the horrible, neglectful, and inhospitable service. It does not stand up to the rest of the property.

The inn and grounds are fantastic, our room was neat, clean, and comfortable. The pub/dining facility was pretty awesome with plenty of seating in the pub and diningroom. There is also an abundance of outdoor seating. The food was top notch though the same could not be said of the service. We were seated immediately and the server (who was also the bartender) took our drink and appitizsr order. We got our drinks quick enough but waited 45 minutes for our appitizers only to find out our order never got to the kitchen due to a problem with their POS system. Once we got our appitizers and placed our order we were kind of forgotten as no one bothered to check to see if we needed anything. At on point there were 5 employees behind the bar joking around. The manager or hostess (we were told they were the same person) was not any better as she seemed much disinterested in what was going on. The hotel receptionist that first greeted us was friendly and professional, as well as dressed as one would expect for such an establishment. The person that was working the desk when we checked out looked as though they were at a rock concert and, much like the hostess/manager of the pub, seemed very much disinterested. Overall, the inn itself is really nice however, their staff could do with some refresher training in customer service.

This is often a spot my husband and I will come to for a special occasion. We always sit at the bar when we do. Austin is our favorite bartender and he always does a great job of serving, conversing, and tending to us when we go. We appreciate him so much. The food is always on point. Tonight we had the tuna and avocado tostados which were amazing and the filet. We split our dinner which was more than enough for both of us.

I had my daughter's bridal shower at Joseph Ambler Inn. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious and the staff was tremendous! Jamie was great to work with and always responded quickly to any questions! Thanks to the staff at Joseph Ambler Inn for making this a memorable Bridal Shower for my daughter! I would definitely recommend this venue for any event!

Food was good but not great. But everything else about this place is high class. Staff was very helpful and considerate. They have ample tables on the top floor and on the lower floor, rooms that were very good for private events

Reception was nice. Had difficulty finding the "ballroom". Because none of the signs were marked as Ballroom.

Excellent food and top notch service! I just had my daughter in law baby shower at JAI and if was perfect the food delicious the menu had something for everyone and a a fair and reasonable price.

We go here every year for birthday weekends. Fave room 115. Has an amazing two person, stone jacuzzi. All of the rooms are great and a lot of them have Jacuzzis. Michael is amazing and extremely helpful!

I came here for a funeral luncheon. The food was very good. I enjoyed the steak they had and the desserts they offered. The location was very nice. The architecture of the buildings and the views of the woods and creek, I can only imagine how beautiful this place would look in any season other than winter.

We all (8) had a wonderful time. We had the octopus and egg rolls for appetizer. Food was very good and service was attentive.

Well, its an old historic hotel- Beautiful grounds and buildings. We had a maintenance issue that was quickly resolved and we were compensated for our issue- who could ask for more? BTW- the restaurant was incredible!

Today 12/27/23 we celebrated Christmas with our family it was a wonderful day. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. I would recommend the Joseph Ambler Inn for any occasion.

This is a special place to come to anytime! Always terrific food and cocktails, and the seasonal decorations are spectacular. Hosted a brunch for 40 people and they did a terrific job, thanks !!!

We had our company holiday party there and the atmosphere, food and service was excellent!!

HOTEL REVIEW, did not eat at restaurant. It was EXTREMELY loud until almost midnight, and then the next day from 11am-4pm. The walls are incredibly thin and this wasn't disclosed to us when I specifically called and asked about noise before booking. Spoke to front desk and they offered no solutions at all. Super expensive for a room with barely any amenities besides the bathtub. Ambler inn, if you are going to have a tile shower, please clean the grout. It was stained black and brown. The "fireplace" advertised was basically a flickering LED that made a constant and annoying clicking sound. It was very uncomfortable leaving our room because there was a wedding going on most of the night and another next day, we had to pass through it to leave the building. NO fridge, NO ice machine, NO room service. Plumbing sucks. Oh, and to top it off it is on a very busy road with sirens and car noise all night. Enormous waste of money. Since the restaurant reviews mix in with the hotel's, it's very misleading to see such a high rating.

Great evening with friends recently at the Joe Ambler Inn. Service, food, and atmosphere was exceptional. So lucky to have the Inn literally right down the street.

Extremely poor service and no heat. This appears to be a nice setting with historic buildings but beyond that be warned. I checked in on a chilly 35 degree night at around 9pm. As others have noted this property needs a lot of TLC and is in poor to fair condition at best. The heat didn’t work in the room and after giving it over two hours and freezing it was unbearable. I called the front desk to request a room transfer and was advised “we don’t have any rooms”. I then advised I’d need to be refunded and check out because the room had NO HEAT. The manager “Mike” was called on the phone which made a bad situation even worse. Fortunately there are many better accommodations within close proximity and they have HEAT! Hopefully this property gets new management or redevelopment soon.

Joseph Ambler Inn was a dream come true for wedding venue! Working with Jamie and the rest of the staff was so easy and stress free. We had a lot of requests such as specialized meals for guest with food allergies, how to set up the décor for the reception, and space for hair and makeup. All of these requests were accommodated with no issues. One example of how Joseph Ambler Inn went above and beyond, was about 2 hours before the wedding we realized the petals for the flower girl had not been delivered. At this point our entire wedding party was having their photos taken. Without even being asked Jamie and her team had gone to a local store, bought roses, and prepared them for the flower girl. I think this just illustrate that at Joseph Ambler Inn they truly care about your special day, and you are not just another event. Outside the wonderful staff, the location is also just perfect. Most of our guest were arriving from out of state so having the opinion to have our guest on site was perfect. We also were able to have all our events on site including rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, ceremony, reception, and afterparty. On top of all of this the food was just amazing!! I cannot count the number of people who told me how much the enjoyed the appetizers, meals, and drinks. If you are looking for a venue that truly, does it all and goes above and beyond on your special day, Joseph Ambler Inn would be the ideal place for your big day!!

I wish I could give it a good rating, but I was very sick 7 hours after eating there. Could be coincidence, but I think it was the salad.

Attended a funeral lunch in last week. The setup was beautiful the grounds are breathtaking. Such a cute little place to have a get together. We had the choice of two menu options a herb chicken or a salmon. The salmon was wonderful the sauce was delicious. The staff and bartenders were very professional and everything was perfect.

We went to their restaurant to use a gift card we were gifted.

This was a quaint Inn. They had houses you could rent out for an entire party, they had rooms in the general houses. We were there for a wedding and had three other weddings with us that weekend. The walls were very, very thin and you could hear EVERYTHING. To give an example : I was on a work call in the room and was concerned about my volume disturbing others. The breakfast was great! I was shocked at the offering. We came in the fall and the weather was perfect and it was so pretty with the trees and deer out in the field. The staff and folks working at the Inn were very kind and accommodating. I would recommend staying here!

I take my parents here for lunch regularly and we all have a great time. The only reason I don't give service full points is because sometimes restaurant service seems to compete with event service. It makes sense that event service is given priority, and the food is so good it has never been an issue. Highly recommended.

Step back to colonial Buck's County at the Joseph Ambler Inn. An event destination, as well as a bed and breakfast, the Inn houses a bar and restaurant in the original, rennovated stone banked barn. We'll suited to large groups due to their event hosting pedigree, the restaurant at the Inn is the place to bring a large party to celebrate your special occasions.

Lovely suitable please for team lunch or dinner. Staff are very courteous. Presentation of food was excellent and tasty too.

we reserved a room in the restaurant for a 90th birthday party. It was lovely and private and the service staff was fantastic. The fillet is the best.

Celebrated my wife’s birthday here. Nice outdoor dining and seating. Fresh bread and salad with walnuts and fresh berries. Good drinks. Filet was cooked to perfection. My sea bass over crab risotto was very good. Complimentary dessert for my wife’s birthday. Great service and friendly conversation by our server, Denise. Will definitely be back.

First time there, even though it is close by!! Started with a glass of wine, warm bread and butter. Entree was their chef's special - crab imperial stuffed lobster, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables (green beans & carrots). Creme brulee for dessert. One of the best meals we've had in quite a while. Food was delicious (compliments to the chef), and the service was excellent!! We will be returning!!

Nothing compares to Joseph Ambler Inn! They have everything you could want for a perfect, small to medium rustic wedding. There are great options for both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces. The whole campus is gorgeous and well kept. The food is SO GOOD!!! Having on-site accommodations was a major plus for both in and out of town guests. Walking across the courtyard after partying all night was the perfect commute. Their wedding package includes so much: Open bar, all food, champagne toast, day of coordinator, wedding cake, bridal suite, honeymoon suite for the couple(!)... I'm sure I'm missing things. Jamie was very responsive and really worked with us in terms of budget and logistics. She was great. I saw a few reviews saying they aren't very responsive, but that's not true. I will say I was very pro-active in setting up my own times to talk with Jamie, and I think that may be important to do, rather than waiting on her to reach out if you're an antsy bride like me. Meg, our day-of coordinator was a total rock star! There were quite a few moving parts I was concerned about during the day, but the whole thing went FLAWLESSLY. My husband and I (and our guests!) can't stop raving about this venue. We can't wait to go back just to eat at the restaurant.

The hot water in the shower in my room did not work during the weekend that I was there even after I reported it twice. There was black soap scum in the shower door and dirt on the bathroom floor. There were ants in the kitchen area. At breakfast there was no oatmeal (the only carbohydrate options were sugary buns and scones). I would give it one star, but the grounds are beautiful and the food items they did have were high quality.

A great place for Weddings, banquets, parties, a great place to go for dinner, lunch. Or a great place as a getaway weekend for your wedding anniversary. Lunch and dinner are not very expensive. Excellent service, excellent food.

One of our favorite go to's... Enjoy the food, the place, the people! We go here for our ANNIVERSARY whenever we are in town! Always perfect! Great happy hour at their bar weekdays 430 -530. Breakfast is lovely. Grounds gorgeous. Just a great local getaway!

Funreal celebration. She loved comfort food - grilled cheese and red soup, pizza, pb&j's, and waffle w/ ice cream. Great food and the when restaurant inn was very quaint.

The grounds are beautiful. Went for dinner and wasn’t impressed with the food we ordered - clam appetizer, lobster roll, pasta primavera, and schnitzel. The one dish we all enjoyed was the baked Brie and garlic. We also enjoyed the wine selection and cocktails.

It’s a shame because it has such potential. Positive aspects of the stay. It’s a beautiful place, very comfy bed and lovely staff. Negative aspects of the stay. Restaurant not open on Mondays with no warning. After an 18 hour journey I had hoped food and drinks would be available. But no. No drink making facilities in the room! In all the places I’ve stayed this is a first. Unbelievable. Not even the ability to make a quick coffee or tea. Obviously no fridge in the room either. Light right outside my window and no curtains makes it feel like daytime all night. Not enough hot water for a bath. Heater is at ceiling level and noisy. As heat rises it feels permanently cold and with the outside temperature at 0 C heating would be nice! Room not cleaned during stay. Doesn’t really bother me too much. But instead we should at least have a place to dry our towels (heated rail) and somewhere to empty bins. No safe in the room to store valuables. Large gap around the door and lock doesn’t feel secure.

We came for a funeral repast and everything was ready & waiting. We had our own house all the staff was so accommodating, especially Eileen, our hostess. I would recommend the Joseph Ambler Inn especially for this type of occasion.

Great atmosphere and the food was excellent!

We hosted our daughter's wedding here in December 2021. The event was beautiful and it came together perfectly in the end. Jamie did a wonderful job in pulling the event together and Meg (our day-of coordinator) was incredible and very calming. The food was delicious, everyone was served at the same time and the waitstaff and bartenders were attentive to everyone. The only reason for a 4-star rating instead of 5 stars was because I thought pre-wedding communication could have been a little better, especially regarding the rooms. Our room blocks were a bit muddled and the front desk staff did not always seem to understand the specifics of our contract but, in fairness, some of the guests did not help the situation. However, Dana got that together in the end as well. There were multiple staff changes in between the scheduling and the wedding and I think this resulted in some of the miscommunication. Having said that, the most important part of the experience (the event itself) gets a 5 star rating so I do recommend the JAI as a wedding venue and I thought Jamie was really patient when working with me and great at pulling it all together.
