The food is absolutely good and definitely taste the "chicken quesadillas". On the other hand, the portions are very small. Advice order two right away and take your time because it doesn't go very fast. Perhaps because of the online orders because as said, the food is certainly good.

Lovely staff… food was ok hot but cooked breakfast was average… sausage precooked and was only Luke warm. Didn’t like the egg covered in bits!

Spotted JJ’s en route to Team Valley retail centre and so glad we stopped! What a lovely vegetarian cooked breakfast and such good valley for money. We were asked if we wanted to add eggs onto the vegan breakfast and there was no extra charge. Piping hot, beautifully presented and tasted every bit as good as it looked. The team serving were so friendly, ultra efficient and nothing was a problem. The only way the cafe could be improved would perhaps be to have sanitiser on each table. I’m aware this may not be required by 19th but would still be appreciated for a while yet, Look forward to another visit soon.

Stopped off for lunch at JJ’s Team Valley today, I’ve never had Jerk Chicken in my life but WOW how delicious this was it came with rice and beans and homemade ‘slaw’. Highly recommend this cafe I’ve been a number of times and never been disappointed , great staff and wonderful food.

Come across this lovely cafe on a Saturday morning. My partner had the big breakfast which was 2 of everything and toast and either tea or coffee. I just had the small one just enough for me one of everything. I must say its one of the nicest breakfast I've had in a while we both enjoyed it will definitely be back, Staff were all very friendly.

There's a wide selection of tasty food for lunch (I recommend the lasagne or chicken burger / chips and salad) and you get a free hot drink with your breakfast roll in the morning. The quantities are great, it's cheaply priced and they've got all the combination of sauces you can imagine. The girls working there are lovely; you order at the till, sit down anywhere and the food is brought to you; or you can take away. There's cool nostalgia in one corner and plants everywhere - it's really chilled. Would recommend!! The only minus they've got the "Daily Star" newspaper (the world should be rid of that immediately)... but they've also got "The Chronicle" - so it's all good!

I’ve been coming to JJ’s Kitchen for over 2 years now and can probably count on one hand how many days I have gone without the amazing, home cooked food from the guys here. Every customer is made to feel welcome and at home wether they’ve been every day for the past two years or it’s their first visit. A relaxed atmosphere with good variation on the menu, good pricing and even better portion sizes. Hayley and her team make every dinner break a joy for me, breaking up the day with hilarious tales, pearls of wisdom and plenty lasagne, chips and chips. It’s the beating heart of our tiny part of Gateshead and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Recently visited this awesome cafe for breakfast with my mum after dropping my dad off at the airport for an early flight. After getting up at 5am a decent breakfast was required! What a find this cafe was! Breakfast was so good!! And very reasonably priced. The cafe is modern inside and very tastefully decorated. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Was on a 12 mile ramble today and this was my half way point. I’m glad I chose it. I had the poached eggs. Very tasty food, friendly service and fab value. Coffee was good too. Recommended for breakfast and lunch.

We had a great family breakfast! A full English, vege breakfast and a kids breakfast. Great value and cool interior. We will be back soon!!

I will give this high marks for being what it is - A friendly transport cafe with great value for large portions - it is not , and doesn't pretend to be haute cuisine - so if you want a huge breakfast or sandwiches , to eat in or take away , with tea in mugs this is for you - the pretentious keep away - busy working people this is your heaven - served freshly cooked and very affordable

Unusual in that it is called just a Cafe, set in a commercial area with usual list of van drivers and factory workers as main customers..yet it has a Lot more space inside than you would think looking from the front, it is Really really well decorated and very nicely laid out. The staff are great but the menues are massive..everything from a lomg range of Breakfast options , 20 plus sandwich combinations, 6 plus different Hot sandwiches, long list of baked potato options, 12 plus different full hot meal options a very long list of burger and hotdog options along with all the usual hot and cold drinks and nibbles..the place inside is very much an upper class beach side bistro look and feel..really the nicest Cafe Iv seen in 3 years on the rd non stop eating out 7 days a week in the UKNOT TO BE MISSEDOh and try the coffee and walnut cake with a latte;)

I recently started working in the Gateshead area and have been looking for a place to go at lunchtime. The venue is lovely, the staff are friendly and the food was excellent. The menu had something to suit everyone, will definitely be going back!

Ever read the hype about something and then, when you finally get to try it yourself are woefully let down? And it’s not the fault of the owner; what we have here is a Listing which sits alongside restaurants and Bistros when it clearly a ‘Caff’. I’m not sure if Trip Advisor is serving the owner or the visitor very well here at all.Because given the Ranking, it is crushingly disappointing. Tea is a tea bag plonked in a mug (with not even a saucer to put your teabag on). Sarnies are OK, not awful or anything, but...well...just ordinary. And there’s nothing wrong with that if you go in the knowledge you are visiting a Caff. This said, the decor is well above an average Café; look at the photos and it looks like one of the trendier rustic ‘kitchens’ that you’d find in Newcastle. Indeed, as you walk in, the tables at the front are very plain, but a look around the corner is like peeking into Narnia. You’d easily imagine trendy folk enjoying antipasti over a bottle of Red, instead of the stream of van drivers, manual workers in overalls and the like that you’ll actually find.So there you have it: not the kind of Café for a quaint tea or a relaxing lunch; this is a place for workers looking for a meal in nicer-than-average surroundings. But most definitely a Caff.

Been many a time and can't recommend enough the quality and diversity of food on offer either eat in, delivery or take out.The staff are so friendly all emanating from the Boss ,Hayley who creates an enjoyable eating experience. Top Cafe in Gateshead and the toon and all so reasonably priced. Get yourself along!

Ive been coming to JJ’s for lunch for some time as the food is always delicious, good value for money, and Hayley and her staff are always helpful. My colleague and I called in for a quick lunch and ordered a jacket potato and beans each which was ready for us in minutes. The jackets were oven baked and filled with beans, and the accompanying side salad was fresh and crispy served with jalapeños and homemade coleslaw. The range of homemade meals that they have are incredible non more so that the deep baked pies which always seem very popular. Excellent value and service.

JJ's Kitchen is simply great, had many lunches here and the staff are awesome Haley and co are just superb. The food is no nonsense, but big on flavour. From a sarnie to a massive wedge of pie with the trimmings, look no further.

Si después de un desayuno en la zona de Gateshead, no hay nada mejor que un completo JJ's inglés de una rebanada de pan tostado y todo entre lo tienen. Tuve una salchicha y bacon con una taza de té por £2. 60. Establecimiento limpio...

Creo que este es un pequeño café que sirve genuina, grub honesto - nada sofisticado y lo que ves es lo que obtienes. Perfecto cuando necesiten de un bocado en el almuerzo.

Stopped for soup and a sandwich. The cafe is really nicely done out, original and welcoming. Service is extremely friendly and quick. The food was great value and I really enjoyed it. The soup was home made, the sandwich made to order and there are loads of options, including some for vegetarians. I will definitely be returning.

JJ's Kitchen serves up amazing homemade food, with huge portions and cheap price tags. It will cost you the same as eating in some dreary greasy spoon, but you'll get to sit in this great cafe that has all the style and panache of its manager.The staff are all really friendly and clearly love their jobs, and get to have a laugh at work. What a great atmosphere.

Popped in to JJ's Kitchen to grab a quick sandwich and coffee whilst at work. Although mine was a take away, I was impressed with the decor and layout.Had a bacon and sausage sandwich and a black coffee to go. The bread bread bun was fresh, with tons of bacon and sausage. A bargain at £2.60 for the size of it.....even more so when the coffee is chucked in for free!It was early morning, but the staff were all chirpy and friendly and I was made to feel very welcome, even though it wasn't much of an order.I took a few minutes to read the huge menu on the blackboard. Plenty of choice, I'll definitely be making a return visit when I've time to sit down and sample a meal.Worth going back for the redhead's smile alone. ;)

Called in here for breakfast last week. 2 small breakfasts, coffee and toast for £7! Couldn't believe how cheap it was. Even so, the quality was good, it was freshly cooked, the service was good and with free papers and wifi it's one of those unpretentious places that thrives on doing the simple things well. Loved it!

What a gem of a place, don't let the fact that you drive through the industrial site to get here out you off. It's so worth the visit! Stayed in a local hotel and didn't want the usual "kept warm forever breakfast". JJs was a great find. Excellent breakfasts (small or large) with everything cooked fresh as you waited, papers on hand to interest you in the meantime. Everything was piping hot and delicious, and probably paid for two of us the price of one hotel breakfast. Special thanks to Hayley who went out of her way to provide parking info ahead of our trip up from Yorkshire. Will definitely recommend to fellow rugby travellers who are frequent visitors. My family and I were in Newcastle for the Rugby World Cup and wanted a proper breakfast to set us up for the day. Asked around and JJ's Kitchen was recommended. The little cafe is located in an industrial park but don't let that put you off - the cafe is super sweet and the food AWESOME! We all had the Full English Breakfast, which came with tea or coffee and toast and was well cooked and huge. Ate breakfast at 10.30am and I didn't feel hungry again until around 4.30pm!

2 breakfasts and 2 mugs of tea for under a tenner. Warm and friendly service. Free WiFi and papers. You can't go wrong at this price. Only wished it was open longer on a Saturday.

Had a fantastic breakfast here. The food was made quickly and brought to my table while still piping hot. The staff we're friendly and very accommodating when I asked for extra bacon instead of having eggs.

I am a busy tradesmen so always pop to JJ's when passing to grab a bite to eat (sometimes i take a detour just so I can pass). Their extensive and quirky menu means there is always something to suit my mood or fancy. If it's a Winters day I would highly recommend a big slab of homemade pie or one of their whopping Mince and Dumplings or if it's a Monday and I feel like something healthy I love to choose something from their colourful salad bar...honestly, there is something for everyone!!Their portion sizes are perfect for a big lad like myself and their prices to suit. Always greeted with a smile from the lovely staff, I am more than happy to support this family run business. I hope to visit one day when I'm not working to take advantage of their cosey dining area. Popped in for a bite to eat with My Father and Little Nephew who is 7 he had full on Hot Dog with chips the bun was so Fresh which he devoured with no complaints washing it down with a nice cold chocolate milkshake Me and Father decided on the HOMEMADE MINCE AND BLACK PUDDING PIE WITH BEAUTIFUL CREAMY MASH which was so Rich in taste and flavour with Two types of fresh vibrant coloured well cooked vegetables will be back a lot more in the future TREMENDOUS also the Decor is next to none this is not your normal run of the mill café /dinner this is well managed thought out and Best of all executed to perfection well done to the owner and staff Of all Levels

this is a cafe not a restaurant so mixed reviews first off the foods good for a cafe but not for a restaurant the prices are cafe prices so thats good but really there should be a takeaway/cafe category and if there was this place would deserve its high recognition

Found this place on TripAdvisor as we didn't want to pay the exorbitant hotel prices for breakfast. Tucked away on an industrial estate, but en route to Gateshead Stadium, was this excellent cafe. Small English breakfast (not sure that small covers the large plateful of egg, sausage, black pudding, baked beans, bacon, tomatoes and toast) with a large mug of coffee at £3:50! Speedy, pleasant service in this clean, bright café. Highly recommended

I've reviewed JJs before but it really has got better. Just tried their chicken kebab with homemade coleslaw and salad - what a great healthy option. Think I'll be back again tomorrow!

I have reviewed JJ's previously having tried & enjoyed the breakfasts. I'm on a health kick at the moment but saw that Hayley had posted images of their healthy range.The real thing never lives up to the images does it? Well in this case it did! I had the chicken kebab,with a baked potato & salad. It was very tasty; well seasoned with a lovely spicy kick, reasonably priced & healthy! What's more, it's the little thinks that make for a great eatery. Friendly staff who put thought into what they do. Where else do you know where they don't just simply pop an iPod on shuffle but play vinyl records & the customers can choose the albums?

Popped into my favourite cafe in Gateshead to have a catch up with my friend - diet out the window the homemade Corned beef and potato pie it is just so tempting, delicious and filling, the coffee is the best in the North East.

When visitors arrive, I take them here as the food is at reasonable prices for tasty food. My guests usually comment on how pleasantly surprised they were at the food. Have one of the pies; they are the business. Take a bow Hayley and see you soon!

Having read the Reviews I looked forward to a hearty breakfast at JJ's. We found thus Cafe hidden within an Industrial setting and were not disappointed. The interior is very interesting and spotlessly clean. We received a warm welcome on a chilly Saturday morning and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. My husband opted for the full English and I ordered the poached eggs on toast. The food was very well cooked and we were offered top ups on our tea and coffee. With good food at such good value I recommend you search out JJ's for a real treat. Only wish I had been in the area longer to try out their lunches.

Just had a breaded chicken and cheese wrap here that was absolutely fantastic. Lovely friendly staff and a nice little chipper atmosphere. Will most definitely be back again when passing as the paninis and breakfasts looked amazing too.

booked a buffet for 40 people Great pre buffet service and advice. Food turned up on time and perfectly presented. The quality cannot be denied. It's a lovely cafe - perfect environment for chilling out, reading the paper and eating great eggs! I had the full English, I could park v close by and am used to London prices so it was amazing value for money :)

As regular customers to this lovely cafe we cannot fault it. The staff are great providing excellent service and the food is plentiful hot and very tasty. There's always a good choice of menu with daily specials. And to top it all the prices are very good for what you get. If you haven't tried JJ's yet then I recommend you give it a go.

I had my mother in law with me on my visit to JJ's. This was an unplanned trip as we had 'time to kill' before an appointment - we are both watching our weights and thought we would just have a coffee however the smell of the food cooking and the look of the food that people had ordered put paid to the diet ! We both enjoyed our meals and will continue to 'pop' in.

Have been back to JJ's again today to see what all of the fuss is about with their new interior, and it looks better than ever. But the main reason for the review is the quality of the food. This is starting to become my regular lunch time haunt now, and feels more like a home from home. Very friendly, top notch menu, and great customer service - you always feel welcome back.If you are in Gateshead and want to try a new place out for lunch, then head over and give it a whirl. Haven't been in here since the revamp of decor, and literally could not pick a single fault. I feel like I'm walking into a home from home. Comfy sofas to snuggle up on to read our magazines on while waiting on our meal, and there is even a fab little gem of an outdoor area to take advantage of in the warmer months.The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Especially with my little one. Most parents will appreciate how uncomfortable you can feel when dining out - it all depends on the staff and how welcoming they are. I've got to say my daughter seemed to enjoy her trip to JJ's just as much as I did. I ordered black pudding dumplings with mince, and my daughter had good old bangers and mash. We barely came up for breath it was so damn tasty! Hadn't had the black pud dumplings since my grandad was around to make them. It was a hearty meal with a hint nostalgia, and there was nothing left on my plate! Prices are extremely reasonable and the quality of the food is top notch. I'd quite happily dine here every day. All in all the entire experience was faultless. The only regret I have is not allowing myself enough room for pudding - always a good excuse to return though :-)

What a find. Great food breakfast is fantastic well cooked and have been a few times and it's always great. Don't be put off by it's location on an industrial estate , go in and you will get a pleasant surprise . Pick a book to read in the larger comfortable room off to the side, we always pick one of the sofa's . Staff are great and very friendly, the food is always cooked perfectly and the coffee is from a local coffee manufacturer ( Pumphreys). Will go every time I'm in the area.

The food came late aand was not hot like it had been in the hot pass for a while. Service was good but thats the only good thing i have to say. Will not be going again.

We come in here everyday for our breakfast and lunch. Never had a bad meal yet! Love the decor, the staff and most of all the free wi-fi :) Without a doubt the best cafe I've ever been.

I'm a regular at this cafe & can't recommend it highly enough, if this was half a mile away at the Quayside you wouldn't be able to get in without a reservation at these prices! Mind you, you also wouldn't be able to find free parking nearby on the quayside. I regularly travel between Newcastle & Sunderland which is ideal as a small detour away from the by-pass takes you to what I agree with others is a hidden gem. Friendly staff, homemade meals at cracking prices. It's being refurbished at the moment & I'm looking forward to seeing how the interior can be improved. Oh did I mention free WiFi & plenty of seating with a mix of chairs, stools & sofas to suit varying preferences.

I go to JJ's for lunch at least 4 times a week and have never been disappointed. What they have on offer exceeds in both quality and variety to any other cafe I've ever been to. The staff are always so pleasant and friendly, even when they're rushed off their feet.Personal recommendation: BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw sandwich (not to be eaten when wearing a pristine white shirt), or mince and black pudding dumplings.

What a find - the food and service at JJ's is fantastic. We visit a few times a week now, and occasionally for a brunch on the weekends. Try the home-made pie and mash if you are really hungry, or the full plate of salad for a lighter lunch. The only downside to JJ's is that it is too close to my home, this means too easy to visit if we can't be bothered to cook!

You wouldn't normally head to an industrial estate for lunch, but it's worth in this case. My wife told me about JJ's, as it's a firm favourite where she works, and you can see why. There's a big menu of the usual breakfast and lunch standards, which they make on site. The portions are pretty big, and the prices low. It's not fine dining, it's a good, local cafe. Inside, it's a bit sparse but it's clean and tidy and you're made to feel welcome. Even my 2 fussy kids like that... and believe me, it's rare they agree on anything!

Just had a healthy salad at JJ's Kitchen - absolutely fantastic with the largest variety of ingredients ever in a salad - staff very attentive and service excellent.

Do not be put off by the location of this cafe or how it looks from the outside, we were amazed by the interior as we have driven past many times on the way to the Baltic or Sage. We only decided to give it a try after reading the reviews here we weren't disappointed. Excellent food, service, also loved the fact there is a book exchange.

We were staying in Gateshead so decided to walk over to this cafe for Breakfast . After a few wrong turns finding our way through a fairly uninspiring industrial estate and children beginning to grumble that we must be in the wrong place we chanced upon it. Well, on the outside it is just what it says but once inside there is an extensive menu written on a blackboard and round the corner in an adjoining room there are sofas with colourful cushions and, most surprising of all, a very erudite bookcase with a book exchange system running! There are newspapers to read too. The wall is covered in Kitsch pictures and there's a fifties fireplace with colourful flowers...The food we had was good solid breakfast ( bacon, eggs. Sausage etc) but there were jacket potatoes and other lunchy things available with quite a few office workers as well as the truckers passing through too. Well worth a visit, not least because the whole meal for six of us cost us as much as a meal for one in some of the other places I've reviewed!

Fresh made rolls and wraps, chips and gravy, baked potatoes, pies, lasagne, breakfasts, the list is almost endless.Have tried all sorts over the past few months without a duff meal ever.The staff are always cheerful and friendly and it is clear that many people are daily visitors.Have also had buffet meals supplied to local businesses and the quality and variety is better than anything I've experienced before. Justifiably one of the top ranked eateries in Gateshead!

Found JJ's on the net, it was only around the corner, and so glad we did. In the middle of an industrial estate on a quiet-ish Monday morning we surveyed the vast menu. In need of a full carbo reload after the race I plumped for the full English. My wife went for beans on toast. Lovely place, very clean, nice comfortable table to read the papers at and what's more, a fabulous breakfast. Nice ladies in the cafe who seemed mildly interested in running the GNR next year! We decided to add some butties for our stopover lunch in Sheffield on the way south. Great place, will call in again when we are back up here for next year's race. See you then!

Having been here on a number of occasions I took some lovely people including Children. My favourite has to be between the full English ( the sausages are fantastic) and the Corned Beef Pie. My young guests opted for Chicken wraps and considering they don't have 'huge' appetites ate every last morsel except for the tomatoes ( none of them like tomatoes!) on our next visit the staff remembered and presented the girls with Chicken wraps minus the tomatoes, again devoured and thoroughly enjoyed - caring staff and a lovely atmosphere awaits - such a gem of a place

JJ's offers a variety of home cooked food...a pleasant change from local fast food and convenience stores. The generous portions are always served with a friendly smile adding to the comfortable ambience created with the trendy and quirky decor. Food is available to sit in or take out depending on your mood. Their extensive menu often leaves you spoilt for choice!

Being not far away from where I work, I visit on a fairly regular basis for lunch. The food is always tasty, the portions always 'substantial' and the staff always friendly. I've never eaten in the cafe part having always preferred to take my food away, with one exception, where on a lovely sunny day we all sat outside and ate 'al fresco'. The surroundings, being slap bang in the middle of an industrial estate aren't anything to write home about, but the food - the reason why I visit - is good home cooking.I have had both hot meals and freshly made sandwiches to order from there and each are equally as tasty. If you're in the area, either working, or passing through, give JJ's a try. You'll not be disappointed.

From atmosphere to service to,most importantly,good food,this cafe has It all.I cannot rate this cafe highly enough.Just go ! You won't be disappointed.

So pleased we found this quirky cafe on a quiet industrial estate not far from the Sage and the Baltic (staying at hotel down the road) It's a great mix of deli food (a great choice of meats and salads) as well as proper home cooked food that is fresh and tasty. The decor is a bit of an eclectic mix but it definitely works. The staff team are friendly and welcoming and there's a really nice feel to the place whether you're running in for a quick sandwich or having a good sit down meal. We have to travel regularly now to Gateshead and I'll make an effort everytime now to pop in for either a full cooked breakfast, healthy lunch (sometimes) or one of their fab home cooked dinners - give it a go you won't be disappointed.

This family run cafe provides lovely home cooked meals, the best breakfasts & a wide selection of sandwiches. The service is excellent from very friendly staff who make sure you leave feeling satisfied. The cafe has been decorated in a stylish way which draws on the local area. There's a large seating area which is always clean & welcoming.I would definately recommend JJ's & I believe my husband is their best customer!

excelllent food, lovely and clean, quick service, good value for money, near to athletic stadium so found it while we were visiting a sporting event last summer, we had a cooked breakfast done to perfection would definately call again if back in the area.

This place is great. It's a lovely place to chill out with friends for breakfast or lunch. It's a very relaxing atmosphere with cozy sofas to relax with a coffee after lunch. I went with my friend for lunch and couldn't decide out of the range of sandwiches, salads, quiches, pies or hot meals but eventually decided on a gammon quiche with salad (not your normal soppy lettuce leaf and soggy tomato but full of red cabbage, carrot, home made coleslaw and jalapeño peppers etc totally delicious! My friend had homemade chicken and leek pie (huge!) with chips and vegetables which she loved. We sat for a while and chilled with coffees a very relaxing lunch. It was great value for money and I would highly recommend the food, we will be back!

The food & staff are wonderful, the environment is very comfortable and warm, would recommend to everyone because if you want home cooking at its best this is the place to be.

Been in here a few times as its local to me and near my gym. easily the best diner I've eaten at. Great space, great décor, great people, great food!

What can I say about JJ's kitchen? I stumbled upon the shop whilst out on deliveries. Expecting your ordinary diner type shop, imagine my surprise when I walked in! The decor is very stylish; blending quirky design and local history. It isn't a case of all shirt and no trousers however, the food is stunning! A whole range of eats, from your standard working class builder type baps to more cultured deli scran. This place would be more suited to a busy high street rather than an industrial estate... But this way at least in can remain my tasty little secret.

Just had the best breakfast i've had in a long time in this lovely unassuming cafe...great value and excellent ingredients in a chilled out, spotlessly clean environment, I would advise anyone who wants a top notch all day breakfast to give jj's a try!
