Jinseon Korean BBQ Restaurant & Bar in Coventry

The Korean BBQ was great. The atmosphere and food was excellent. Although the Korean Fried Chicken was not up to expectations but the Meat Platter we ordered was fantastic. The staff were friendly and polite despite the bustling restaurant.

My husband and I went for a dinner at Jin Seon. This was my second time having their barbeque after 7 years as I moved to Scotland. We went for a visit to Coventry, and the only place I missed is Jin Seon. The quality of the meats are amazing, and they have proper coal and the meats were grilled on charcoal directly instead of a pan. I love the little fan on top of the grill that absorb all the smell and smokes from the grill! Husband ordered the korean fried chicken, and he said the portion and taste are incredible! He loves it! Not only the food is amazing, but they properly thought of all the other aspects of cooking and its authenticities (bowls, cooking utensils, cutleries, etc..are from South Korea) We then ordered a desert - croffle biscoff! Oh my God…that was one of the best dessert I have had !!!!!!!! Will defo come back!!!!!!

Absolutely delicious! The Korean BBQ was flavoured to perfection . You cook on authentic hot coals 🔥🔥 (which isn't the case at most Korean restaurants). Lots of great choices on the menu, we will be coming back! 🤩😇

The attendants are wonderful, friendly and attentive. The barbecue on the table is very tasty and well served. I highly recommend it.

The food was ok, as a regular costumer, I can say one year ago was better than this. Also and more importantly, the service was very bad from my last two times experience. First there were no seasonings on our table, the waiters did not even notice and I requested it the first time. Then we waited for 10 minutes for the heat with the BBQ meat already served. After that we waited for more than 5 mins because we didn’t have scissors and tools to make the bbq. Yes, I requested the scissors again because the staff didn’t even notice we were sitting there just waiting, only for scissors and tools. Also, I feel very offended that our table got differently treated. Waiters came here and ask two tables around us if they were satisfied with the food, but not us. They did not even ask if we need anything else. In the end when we requested to takeaway the rest, they gave us the tray without the take away bag, so how do you think the costumer can take out the tray with meat inside???? So I requested the third time. The meal was more than £70, and of course we paid £7 for the service charge, but I DO FEEL WE PAID FOR NOTHING. Very disappointing experience.

Me and my friends have frequented Jinseon for over 2 years now, and each visit is as marvellous as the last. Their service is wonderful and the food is cracking. I cannot recommend it enough.

Weren't seated when we arrived when there were plently of spaces - we weren't told why. We also were not seated with any menus - we weren't sure if the waiting staff would give us some. A waitress left some plates and cutlery on our table - she didn't notice. After about 10 minutes, I had to ask for the menus, and then a further 15 minutes later I had to go up and ask to order; the waitress who took our order didn't seem to care in the slightest. People who were seated and ordered after us received their food before we had even ordered ourselves. Drinks were brought promptly and were correct (bar was on the floor at this point). My partner received his food in good time, mine about 15 minutes later when he had finished and the waiter just dumped it in the empty space next to us and ran off. Although there are signs as you walk in, and by the kitchen to wait at the door, delivery drivers just barge in when no-one is on the door, and just stand at the kitchen shoving their phones in the poor chef's faces. This also meant, as we were sat on the left as you come in, we had loads of people linger around our table waiting. It was not a pleasant experience. Will not be returning. Nice food, but small portions and abysmal customer service.

The food was ok, but the service was too bad. We were two people, ordering 2 BBQ dishes, and black bean noodles. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly, but the hostess couldn't be ruder. They required min 2 orders of meat dishes for BBQ and the waiter seemed not to know that, or either did we. The hostess then told us to order one more portion, which to me, was understandable, but she rushed me to order immediately, while I was telling her that I wanted to discuss what to order more with my friend who was in the restroom at the time, so I'd make order more once they came back. She seemed not to listen to me at all and couldn't wait for 3min while she could have told the kitchen to hold our table's order. This was disappointing. The kitchen served the meat just under 5min after we finalized the additional order, so it proved to me the issue was their unprofessional service quality. Anyway, recommended for those having Korean BBQ craving, worth a try. I'm not sure if I will come back.

The food here was absolutely delicious and arrived super quick. For once we got regular food and not BBQ and it was really tasty.

The food was nice. Service was ok. We were sat in the back conservatory with a white piece of wood attached to the table as a partition. It was very annoying and atmosphere was very dull. I didn't enjoy my time there at all. The red date honey tea was heavenly tho.

Great food, both qualitatively and quantitatively!!! 😊 I drank plum sake, for the first time! It's like an easy liquor!! 😊 A nice experience, I will come back for sure!

It is honestly such a lovely restaurant to go to when you want to indulge and just have a chilled afternoon/ evening out. I had the Beef Bulgogi, BBQ Pork Shoulder and the Korean Honey Butter Fried Chicken which were super flavourful and really tasty! I had the garlic belly which I unfortunately found lacked flavour.. that’s not to say I wanted it to be infused with garlic because I’m not really a garlic fan but I could taste any seasoning and had to use the sauces they provided and the sauce from the fried chicken to make it taste nice. However, because the other items were amazing, it wasn’t too bad. I also had the Strawberry Cocktail as a pitcher and they reaaalllyyy need to share that recipe because it is *chefs kiss*!! That one right there is a creeper because it honestly just tastes like juice aha! And lastly the service was amazing.. it was swift and the food came quick and timely fashion. They are doing a spectacular job, I hope they keep it up because I’ll definitely be going again!

The food is some of the best Korean food I've had. I've been here many times and will continue to go back in the future. The downfall is the service, 50% of staff are lovely and 50% are not. Some very accommodating and some not. Tables can range from secluded, comfortable and friendly, to in the middle of the restaurant with metal seats and being knocked into by servers regularly.

The food is not authentic Korean. There was pickled yellow radish in Bibimbap (why?) and the spicy Bulgogi looked and tasted like a Chinese stir-fry (very oily!). Also, why is a pineapple stir fry on the menu? Nobody eats that in Korea. I can only assume this restaurant is not run by Koreans.

Korean fried chicken was excellent, still crispy with sauce. The food overall was too salty for me, maybe beer is needed with the food

How rude! I called 3 times to try and book a last minute table. The first time I called I was hung up on. The 2nd time I reached voicemail. The 3rd time someone answered and proceeded to tell me how fully booked they were, and then hung up on me without letting me speak a word! SO RUDE!

Great food great atmosphere. Reasonably priced food quality food. portion sizes on the main meals are big and you can box it up for home. what more do you want. 👌

Very enjoyable meal, the Korean fried chicken was delicious, nice and spicy, also tried the Seafood Pajeon which we particularly enjoyed It was certainly a busy place and I understand why as it was tasty and excellent value

Food was good, kimchi supremacy. But the kitchen noise, the table right beside the kitchen was awful. It was just constant noise from the kitchen. We don't know why they were throwing things.

There was hair in my Food and staff and the Manager accused us of putting the hair the food. Not Acceptable

Went to JKB restaurant a handful of times and their food is toooooo good , the food is amazing and authentic, I always eat soo much to the point where I feel like my stomach will explode but I still eat anyways… that’s how good they are make sure to book beforehand cuz it gets really busy

Loved it! I took my daughter for her birthday. We went for lunch. Relaxed dining. We had the meat platter and a few sides. A staff member helped us cook, after that we asked to cook for ourselves. Nice vibe inside. Would definitely go again with friends and more family

Food here is absolutely gorgeous, I had fireworks chicken and belly pork bibimbap. I have had the barbecue here too which was divine. It gets busy. You can choose knife and fork or chop sticks.

I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago with some friends visiting from out of town. This restaurant completely surpassed all of our expectations. From the moment we walked in, there was a lovely cosy atmosphere. The staff here were very attentive to our needs, and we received everything we ordered and our BBQ grill being lit promptly. Korean BBQ is such a relaxed dining experience that really allows you to socialise and enjoy your company whilst grilling food for each other. If booking in advance, you can make requests for your table online. I'd recommend considering the season and requesting something away from the door if it is cooler, it does get drafty with delivery people collecting orders. I expect this might be a desirable spot in the summer when things heat up though!

Amazing experience! The quality of meat is really good and the barbeque it makes even better. Nice atmosphere and be prepared to smell like smoke once you get outside the restaurant. If you order the meat platter, will arrive with some sides which are really good but also you can order more sides if you want. The cocktails are really big and tasty, highly recommend to try this restaurant and their barbeque.

Great restaurant, variety of marinated meats available where you can also cook it yourself in the middle of your table. Good selection of sake, wine, beers and cocktails. Wasn't expensive either. Busy with a great atmosphere.

The portions are ok for two people. Taste is a let down even if there is salt and pepper and some condiments provided, it doesn’t help. Price is high if you expect me to cook my own food.

Great place, friendly and helpful staff in the beginning, but only downside they closed the restaurant at 10pm but didnt. We were still eating and wanted to order more food around 9.30pm, but the waitress didn't come back. No one prewarned us that the kitchen will be closing soon so we could put in any last orders!!

We visited for my husbands birthday as we have become interested in Korean foods. We do not live in Coventry so we found parking for the restaurant not very easy at all, especially given the two car parks that the restaurant list on their website don’t exist. So we ended up getting to the restaurant late and it was stressful trying to park and walk through the centre which isn’t very nice at the best of times… The restaurant itself was a lot more busy and loud than I expected that being said we were served quickly and chose the mixed meet to grill ourselves on the bbq, you get some lettuce and randomly some egg they pour round the sides to eat as it cooks. I found the food good and its a bit different cooking it live on the table yourselves. They also have a good selection of Korean drinks to try, we had the cass beer and a lychee cocktail which was lovely. We were in out very quickly but found the price reasonable. There isn’t a bar area for an after drink and if your vegan there will be very little for you. I am lactose intolerant so I could eat alot of the Mains but there was not any desserts for me. A different experience but I wouldn’t go back not quite as good as we thought and the location and non ease of parking would put me off but if your local not such a problem I should imagine.

Fantastic place! The food is great, the KFC is great but it could be more spicy. The meat options for the Korean BBQ are very well thought and varied. My only complains would be that they had a so called sesame oil that tasted as plain neutral oil and that the standard BBQ add-ons could be better, surely pushing you for getting the premium options.

I was impressed that they actually used real charcoal instead of electric like most of the other Korean Bbqs i have been to in this country. The food was decent however i did feel it was overpriced for what it was. £75 for what i felt was a £50 -£55meal at the most.

Nice place, nice staff and good food. However, a bit expensive for dinner. We enjoyed the opportunity to meet the Korean food culture, very interesting.

Foods great. Service is attentive. If you are not having bbq, it's a quick qr code to order. Atmosphere is very lively with music all around, there are some quiet spaces.

Famous restaurant They did great on food presentation enjoy the traditional Korean BBQ atmosphere here However, the quality of the food is just fair, but to be honest, the portion are generous which fair enough to the price

I realised after I had experienced Jin Seon that it was more in line with a fast food restaurant than anything else, I was in and out in 45 minutes. The speed of food delivery lined up with visiting a joint like Five Guys though the service style is obviously like a restaurant and in this respect it was one of the better fast food experiences I've had. The noodles and korean fried chicken that accompanied the BBQ were nice though could have been seasoned better. The BBQ itself is fun and I had the pork belly and tiger prawns, there are sesame oil and other condiments on the table, it would have been more interesting if there were some cooking tips to give the BBQ a more authentic flavour. The quality of the product sings through anyway so it's not a problem. All in all a good fun restaurant with fast service, solid food options and a burning bowl of hot coals to play with, which is great in my opinion. The east Asian community seem to have turned priory place in to an Asian food quarter and having a hot bed of authentic experiences like that can only be a good thing.

We loved the experience of the sit-down bbq, but as it was our first time, it was a bit nerve-wracking being so unsure of what to do. Warm atmosphere and the meat platter was delicious with tender well Marinated meat 🍖 Passion fruit soju was quite refreshing as well, got two pitchers 😅

Bad service, worse food (cooked dishes), expensive cocktails that are wayy too bland, way too expensive. The self service BBQ is better but I won’t recommend it.

Had a couple of really nice meals here and have been regularly ordering takeout Dirty KFC - shame it's so inconsistent. Obviously depends how long food has been sat about, clearly not always freshly prepped. Today's was awful - sauce watered down and tasteless, chicken and batter really chewy, food was barely hot when collected. You've lost a regular customer.

The best Korean BBQ I’ve had. If you’ve got space, I’d definitely recommend the Canadian Croffle for dessert which is fantastic.

Went tonight with my son, we had such a wonderful time. We wanted to try the bbq but were a little unsure how to go about it. The staff were really attentive and helpful, happily showing us the ropes. The meat was delicious, too delicious really because we ordered a lot but couldn't say no and we were stuffed! Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Will definitely return, so many yummy looking dishes passed by our table, I'll have to return lots to try them all!

It’s always nice to visit this restaurant to enjoy yummy Korean food. The Korean spicy fried chickens are tasty. The staff are friendly and proactive. They were caring and efficient. Thank you for providing us the excellent service. The environment is amazing with different Korean pop songs as background music. The washrooms are clean and up to standard.

I called at 5pm to book a table for 2 and they booked me in for 7:15. But they said I didn't book a reservation because my name is not there. Clearly they made a mistake but the way they say it is that I didn't book a reservation!!! I have the call history on my phone!

3 of us called in without a booking on a rainy Sunday evening. We were hoping for a BBQ meal but all of the BBQ tables were full... instead we asked the waiter to recommend 3 starter and mains that we would all pick from, and we were treated to a fantastic feast of delicious food, almost a banquet.

Came here at the wknd for some food. Wasn't too sure what to expect but the waitor was excellent and helped us through the menu and what was available. The table has space for a BBQ style pit where you can grill your own food, so you get served raw meat but cook it yourself on the grill. Very engaging experience, very helpful staff, a bit pricey but enjoyed what we had, recommend for up to 4 peeps but not sure what happens with larger groups as tables are set for 4 people.

This place gets busy quite quickly so would recommend booking in advance! Excellent korean BBQ food, very attentive staff who definitely would make sure you are not going to burn down the place with cooking the meats on your own carelessly. Absolutely delicious, recommend!

Nice food and drink well worth a visit.

I owed my dad a belated Father's Day meal out, so it needed to be somewhere a bit special, so I chose Jinseon. Neither of us had been here or tried Korean cuisine before, but I'd heard positive things about this restaurant from friends. I booked a table a few weeks in advance (and was sent a reminder email a few days prior to the meal in case we wanted to cancel). I was aware there'd be a grill on the table to cook the food; the menu is in both English and Korean and says a minimum of two dishes for the BBQ option, but doesn't fully explain how the system works. Probably best to go with someone who's been before on your first visit. We guessed that the meat platter, some king prawns and a bowl of rice each would be enough for two (it was). There are dipping sauces and oils provided on the table and you get a small bowl of snap peas and something that's similar to pickled ginger as an appetiser/to go with the meal; you also get a full lettuce to share, to use the leaves like a wrap...which gets a bit messy, but we maybe did it wrong! If you lift up the metal plate in the middle of the table, you see some oil further down, and it's not clear how the cooking will work. Above this is the extractor tube, to take away the smoke. (The fire - a bed of glowing charcoal-like stones - is brought to you in a steel cauldron after ordering.) We were advised to cook the meat a little and then cut it up halfway through to make sure it's thoroughly cooked. (Tongs and scissors provided, although the scissors are a bit blunt.) The fattier parts obviously encourage flames and smoke, so you have to be vigilant above turning the meat and moving it around - there's time to chat in-between, but don't get too distracted! The extractor also moves lower/higher and side to side. If you need help, it's fine to ask the servers - they are happy to talk you through it or to do the majority of the cooking and cutting for you. The prawns and meats were all tasty and tender. At the start of the meal, staff pour liquid egg from a special kettle into one compartment at the side of the fire and some seasoned sweetcorn into another compartment - these cook while the meat cooks. It was exciting to see the scrambled egg forming, although taste-wise it was pretty bland, but the sweetcorn stuff is nice. One of the few criticisms is that it's a bit tricky to use a fork or spoon to get into the narrow compartments and dig out a portion without flicking it into the fire, and the bottom layer burns and sticks to the metal. (Felt bad for the dishwashers!) I saw some of the reviews on here were negative about Jineson's staff and service, so I made sure we each ordered two drinks plus water at the start of the meal, in case we didn't get served again - but there was no need to worry. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and had a sense of humour; they checked several times if we were enjoying the food and needed anything else, and also stepped in a few times when we were doing a bad job of barbecuing the meat/prawns. We went on a Friday night around 7.30PM, it was fairly busy but plenty of staff were on duty to keep an eye on everything. If you get ignored when signalling for the bill, just go up to one of your waitresses/waiters and request it politely; they brought it to us straight away. Please tip if you can, because those young women made cutting the meat over the fire look easy but it's not, they're skilful!

Went for dinner with a group of friends and had the table were you cook your own meal. What a complete rip off £12 for 3 pieces of fatty lamb and a whole lettuce. The meat was so bad I asked for it to be changed. If you were having your own BBQ at home you won't give that meat to your dog! Save you money and have a BBQ at home with quality meat and a whole lettuce. Can't believe they charge this money and people want to eat here. I am sure this fad will die off soon. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Best korean restaurant hands down 💯 Bbq here 🔥🔥🔥

I have seen lots of videos online of restaurants in Asia where the customer cooks the food and have always wanted to try it. I was very excited to find we have such a restaurant here in the UK during a work visit to Coventry. The staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate our large group without a booking (please don't make the same mistake as us and instead book in advance!), we were shown to a table and after a few minutes another staff member turned up to add the coals to our grill. The menu is extensive with a wide ranges of meats to cook. The food arrived quickly and we were able to start cooking our meat. The food was delicious and easy to cook, but it is important to make sure the food is cooked throughly before eating it (this isn't too hard and you get the hang of it quickly). A bowl of boiled rice was a perfect accompaniment to the rich meats especially those marinated in soy, garlic and ginger. The overall experience of Jinseon was fantastic. I really enjoyed the social aspect of cooking the food with those in our group and the taste was amazing. The meal was quire pricey but I think it was well worth it.

Food didn't have that much flavour unfortunately and they got my order wrong and just said sorry for the misunderstanding and didn't correct it

We love this place for take-away but eating in was even better! We booked a table for 7 celebrating my husband's birthday. The service was fantastic, the staff were very attentive, the food came really fast and tasted delicious as always. The food was well priced and the staff cleared away our empty plates very diligently. We'll definitely be back again!

The food is really good! but the lettuce with the bbq is more of the stems rather than leaves

Absolutely the worst food in a long time! The quality of everything has dropped dramatically. The sweet and sour tofu should technically not be classified as food. Gloopy, full of pineapples, and really dire. The spicy Bulgogi would be right at home in a cheap Chinese all you can eat. Really nothing in common at all with its famous Korean original. We really came away angry, hungry and disgusted. The service levels from the lacklustre staff makes Ryanair feel like luxury! Never ever returning again. Purely pathetic.

We had a family celebration (birthday) and we wanted to try something different, this time. The choice was quite random: we had never been there before and no one had anything against Korean cuisine. Bull's-eye! The arrangement of the restaurant is very good for family celebrations and the food was excellent. You probably need to be Korean to fully appreciate and use the advantages of this place (like grilling ordered food, in the middle of the table) - despite the fact that none of us are of Asian descent, we enjoyed both the food the place a lot!

First time visit today, the food was delicious and worth the cost! Definitely recommend it, staff were really friendly and provided a great service. I’m from London but I’ll to Coventry for the food and atmosphere.

Not great for vegetarians, quite a few options but is is all meat susbtitued for tofu. If you dont like tofu your kinda stuck. Drinks also pretty expensive. However very busy and lively place think would be good for meat eaters

Amazing food as always, definitely recommend getting the meat platter and trying to KFC and cheesy ramen, but everything is delicious. The servers will teach you how to cook if it's your first time/you don't now how to! The atmosphere was a bit loud and hard to talk and hear eachother but besides that, it's great.

I went a few times, the food is fine, however, the service is terrible, it seems that the attendants are doing you a favor by serving you. Yesterday, 05/13, we arrived at 2:30 pm and were told that the kitchen was closed, so why do they say they are open until 3 pm on the website/google?

I'd never been to a Korean barbecue restaurant before. My son and daughter out-law took me for a birthday treat and it was brilliant. Very casual (which suits me perfectly. I put clean jeans on but could have worn my shorts) the food was fantastic. We were Biden a charcoal barbecue in a 'fire pit' in tbe centre of the table with seasoned pork and beef to cook along with a couple of Korean chicken dishes, rice, noodles, a seafood omelette and cheesy sweetcorn with a sort of scrambled egg dish which both cooked on the barbecue. I can't wait to go back!!
