Jilani's in Edinburgh, City of

The food here is what you'd expect. Various levels of sugar and sweetness, which, if this is what you are after you are in the right place. The reason for the three stars, was the restaurant was not particularly clean. Tables were sticky, receipts were left on floors, floors were grubby, toilet was dirty. To be fair, there was only a single person working and he was doing his best to cover everything, but he really could've used some help.

Walking back to the hotel after a long day this place was a godsend. If you need a sugar hit, or sugar explosion, this is the place to be! For a smallish place the menu is massive with more desserts than you would need in a lifetime. Very large portions as well!

Just walking around Edinburgh when we wanted a drink so we stopped at Jilani's. My 2 children had an ice-cream each and a hot chocolate, my hubby had a coffee and I had hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows then we had a lovely slice of chocolate cake it was so moist and tasty. The owner made us feel very welcome and even gave the children some cream for their hot chocolates. Would definitely go again when next in Edinburgh and would definitely recommend for people to try.

My friends and I have been here a few times and love it. The staff are extremely friendly and the deserts and drinks are beautifully presented and delicious. There's lots of seating and great music too! The amount of choice is almost overwhelming, imagine any flavour of ice cream and they will have it, you can create your own sundae or milkshake and they also have delicious waffles and crepes that they make fresh for you. I can't recommend this place highly enough! Their hot chocolate is amazing as well.

Right! we took a carrot cake and a black-forest. both super-dry and not sweet at all. Black-forest is supposed to be moist and spongy, this one was anything but that. It seemed as if they have used one recipe and used for all cakes. Having said that the carrot cake did not have any flavour of carrot, the black-forest, I don't know what to say! Total waste of money. The portion was big but honestly we could not eat more than 2 teaspoons. The cost was cheaper than most other shops and the cost reflected in the quality in the cake. The staff was very friendly. We are not going back.

I am EXTREMELY upset and disappointed with this business and their management. Two friends and I came here to get ice cream one day. They began to order while I whisked myself away downstairs to the bathroom. I went inside, closed the door and was disgusted by what I saw. I immediately turned around to leave until... wait for it.. the handle had become completely loose and the lock was stuck. I began to freak out. I yelled, knocked on the door but no one was downstairs to hear me. I then tried to call and text my friends but guess what... there was ZERO cell phone service underground. I was in full on panic mode. I attempted to call emergency services but they could not hear me. I began hyperventilating. I did not know how long I had been down there for or how long I would be stuck there. Something overcame me and I ended up kicking the door open. I proceeded to find my friends and have a meltdown outside. I then went up to the employee working and asked where the manager was. He said that the manager was out but would be back in 10 minutes. Ok. When the manager returned, I calmly went up to him and informed him the bathroom door needs to be fixed because I was just locked inside. THIS GUY did not even have the decency to look me in the eye. He then proceeded to tell me that this is an "ongoing issue" but he doesn't know the about the problem until some "tells him about it." So apparently he did not know that his only bathroom door was broken until well... someone got stuck inside! He never once apologized. Did not offer to discount my friend's food. Then tried to blame his employee for not knowing about the issue either. I'm sorry but you are the manager. This is not your employee's fault. Take responsibility. Make this right. He did not. He did absolutely nothing. Did not show one ounce of sympathy for me while I was struck with panic. What would have happened if the place caught on fire in that moment? I would have been stuck and died. I will never return to a place that has zero human decency. Does not care about its customers' safety or even their employees. DO NOT GO HERE.

We took slices of Chocolate cake and it was amazing. It had a lovely taste and the staff was also very good.

The desserts are absolutely amazing this is my second time there now, the two gentlemen that have served me one of them I presume is the owner are very friendly and welcoming although the lady that was there I think she just started needs to smile a little bit more and at least say bye to their costumers, apart from that little mistake that place it’s very clean and modern great location, great food and great service I will definitely recommend it to anyone and I will definitely come back again.

Had an icecream sundae and tasted really nice! Staff was friendly. Was reasonably priced too. Wish had this place in lincoln.

Please don't waste your time. Poor service half finish premises and horrible desserts. Got a cookie dough to takeaway presented as though it had be throw up was diagusting, owner then said have you never had cookie dough before this is what it looks like..sub standard ice cream cheap nasty tasting...go to Scoops much better service.

My partner and I visited by chance after a meal. The man who served us was lovely, the portions were big and it was great value for money. We will definitely be back

Would recommend desert place to everyone wonderful desserts and service is great as well the ice cream was great

We popped in after needing a drink after a heavy meal. My daughter had an ice cream sundae that she enjoyed. The rest of us had milk shakes which we love liked. The service was good as we got our orders in before a large party did. The price was rather reasonable for this type of dessert place.

The food especially the cookies and ice cream was amazing and the staff was very friendly. Will defo be back.

The staff were lovely and kind and even offered us free cake but the ice cream quality was so poor that even a family of ice cream lovers did not want to finish the ice cream. The cake smelt of nail varnish. Wonderful staff but we won't be back. Sorry. Our advice would be to make your ice cream more natural and more tasty even if it means investing more. That way you might get more customers returning.
