August 2024 Updates: It seems I do come every 2 years. Anyway, the food is super delicious. Super tasty and flavoursome. Although the waiting time still seems longer - i don't know why that it - if you can look past the waiting time, you'll enjoy the meals. Strangely, the pricing seems to be different from what is on the wall/board to what you're charged... or maybe it's be that didn't pay attention. Ultimately, the meals are good, and the ladies do have a good chat open to feedback that will help the business and restaurant improve their service and that's great. Updated comments 2022: I've been here before for a takeaway, and the food was decent. Well flavoured, but this time having waited for 30min, I was told food is not even closed to ready... not good experience. As we had to go asked for that update even. Customer service needs to be better, and food has to come out on time. Customers have travelled from a long way - we came from constable to rochester for this, and we could have gone anywhere else. Anyway, like I said, good food and tasty you'll find here. Adios 2021: During the pandemic, we came for a takeaway, and it was a lovely meal. It's really tasty and all. Prices seem to be quite higher than I thought, but no complaints here, and the meal was good.

The jerk chicken was perfectly spiced and tender, and the generous portions were great value for money. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean flavors, this is the place to go.

We went to the Jerk Cafe for the Medway Cocktail week. We thought we would start there as local to us. They were very hospitable and made you feel so welcome. There, Bob Marley cocktail was the best of the night would recommend to anyone taking part in Cocktail week.🍸

Ordered food for collection. Very disappointing. Escovitch fish was very dry and did not taste fresh. 2 dishes missing from order. Standard of food has definitely decreased as I have eaten there many times before and quality of food seems to have gone downhill...

Everything was 10/10 tonight. 8 friends had a great time. And the well done to all the staff, especially the lady who kept making are drinks (rum punch)😜. They kept us going 🤣👌🏼👍🏼

I couldn’t eat the callaloo patty - it had a strange/odd flavour I - couldn’t work it out but it spoilt it for me. The curry mutton was so so salty I couldn’t eat much - but the beef patty and roti were delicious.

For collection they will say to you 4 min but you have to wait 40 min🤬

The fault of just eat not the restaurant, I don't see how me waiting 2 hours for my food is justifiable!

Wow wow wow, amazing curried mutton tonight!

I recently went to collect an order and the older lady working there overcharged me for something as small as a bigga. When I checked on just eat, and realised it was down for £2, it made sense as she had charged me £2.50 and I couldn’t believe it. It makes me realise in general, after adding things up that she overcharged me for what I bought by over £3. If this is done with multiple orders, I can see how money can be made dishonestly. Please be mindful of this if you read this. And as you can see by the response, extremely rude and unprofessional. And as you can see by the screenshot, there was no choice for a large or small bigga, this is an absolute lie. I bought two biggas which cost me £5 (not a ‘large bigga’ and a ‘large d and g’ then retrospectively went to check on their just eat and realised I was overcharged and it costed £2 on their site. For me it wasn’t about the money, but the principle, and this response sums up the kind of person that would do this. The irony of this response, talking about business. Just looking at the picture will clearly show. Notice theres no denial of being overcharged. It’s not about ‘costing too much to pay’. That is clearly deflecting from the situation. It’s about being dishonest and charging more than the actual cost. Trying to charge me extra, when it clearly shows on just eat for less. A clear dishonest move, which you have not denied. This is just someone who thought she would cheekily get away with it and not be challenged. Well, you thought wrong. Next time try fi nuh rob yuh own people!

Absolutely love this place! Authentic and tasty food every time. I recently had a family bday celebration here and the staff went the extra mile to make it a great one. I recommend to anyone and everyone to come and try for yourself. Thank you 😊

Macaroni cheese purchased today was terrible, they hadn’t used the macaroni pasta it was just normal penne with mountains of cheese. Normally the roti’s from this shop are exceptional, however really salty today. Food is quite average, but sometimes when you can’t be bothered to eat you take out. It’s hit and miss at this eatery. Husband loved his jerk chicken. Overall it’s a 3-5 definitely room for improvement.

The food in this cafe is delicious, portions are generous the prices are most reasonable. Since this was my first visit I simply chose Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and a fried Dumpling. I received a leg and a chopped portion, a bowl with rice and peas and two portions of sauce. The Dumpling was a big ball deeply textured and thoroughly fried with a thick crispy outer layer. The chicken had a lovely spicy charred skin with meat falling off the bone, rice and peas tasted great, good enough to eat all on its own. The Dumpling, just leave me alone I'm eating my Dumpling. The people in there are friendly I felt very comfortable. Open late Tuesday through to and including Saturday which is handy. The Cafe is accessible from the back where there is a big car park, the entrance is on Commercial Road Ringo 79409 Park Mark safe cam monitored 24hours stay all that good stuff.

I came with my friend and her daughter for lunch as we have driven past this place many times and wanted to try it out, im glad we did as the food didn't disappoint plus there was a lot of options on the drinks menu and im partial to a tipple! The food was full of flavour, my favorite dishes were the Jerk Chicken and Plantain even though I don't normally eat veggie dishes. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the prices were decent, we spent quite a bit as wanted to try everything on the menu.Would definitely go again!!

I had ordered the Fish Platter Menu earlier that week for Good Friday 29/3/24 which was £22. I live alone and thought the time it would take me to buy all the ingredients and the hassle to cook, it would cost me than £22. The friendly receptionist called me the day before to find out what time I wanted to collect the Platter. On collection I was surprised to see how large the the Platter was. It consisted of a large Escovitch Fish, a smaller Bream, Fish Fritters, Mac & Cheese, Corn on the Cob, Plaintain, Large portion of Rice and Peas, Gravy and Coleslaw. The food was absolutely delicious and as I said the portions were large, the food lasted me over 2 days, I was very impressed. I’ve also dined-in and done takeaways over the years and I’m never disappointed. Judy

I visit jerk cafe on a weekly basis!! The restaurant has a great vibe and is very welcoming. The food is outstanding and by far the best in Kent! I used to travel back to south London just to get some good jerk & soup. You have to try this restaurant! 5* on everything!

Excellent..food was lovely apart from the fried dumpling which was hard on the inside, might have been heated up in the microwave..but everything else was delicious 😋..the oxtail was melt in your mouth delicious..would have given 5 stars if not for the dumpling, but will definitely visit again 😀

Probably the worst Mac & cheese I’ve ever had.

The time changed twice and the food ended up 30-35 mins late Chips were soggy and the app didn’t keep up with the delivery also the map did not come up

Order food for delivery excepted time of delivery was 7.30pm-7.50pm still waiting for the delivery speak to the shop 2 times same response with for the delivery driver and now it's 8.40pm still no delivery and it happens with it's for collection too Won't be ordering again from Jerk cafe joke ting

Delicious Oxtail and sweet potato fries. A really good portion size, full to the top, for a good price. It is my go to takeaway at the moment. Better than a collagen supplement too!

Once upon a time Jerk Cafe was top tier, it would be a joy to travel from Maidstone down to eat at one of my favourite restaurants, fast forward to today I can barley order what I want because they’ve always run out one two times is understandable but I do not expect a restaurant to consistently run out of food 2 hours before they close…. Ridiculous! And a bit sad really Id see the restaurant as more of a dinner type food but yet at dinner time I can barely get anything. Disappointing really cause a few years back before covid it was a great place. #Fallenoff

If you’re hungry DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!! I read the reviews about the delivery issues but I still went ahead and ordered it like a big fat idiot. First of all they kept changing the delivery time, from 4:50 to 5:10 to 5:30 to 6:32??? Never seen anything like it. Then I come back at 6:35 and it say’s DELIVERED @ 5:15!?!? Sat here for absolutely no reason, such a waste of time & I was so excited to have the oxtail. Kmt.

The food is always on point here, very good and good value for £. If only the order would be ready to collect when it says it is on Just Eat😔 as I tried placing the order for collection even 1 h before going to collect it and I still had to wait at least half an hour.

They didn’t deliver my original order. I called the cafe to inform them of this, but the lady I spoke to was extremely unhelpful and didn’t make any effort to try and investigate. She asked me to take picture of the food delivered and send it to her. I did as instructed, but no acknowledgement and no response. I’m very disappointed.

Amazing food, wide selection and cooked from the ❤️ Best Caribbean takeaway we have had in a long time. Rum punch actually had a punch and the food was truly amazing, best curry mutton and jerk chicken ... Portions were decent too. Excellent staff & service, loved the background music. Definite 10 out of 10!!!

This place had fantastic comfortable seating. Lunch was a treat for my pal and myself, and we weren't disappointed. The Jerk chicken is moist and succulent. Coleslaw was available, and freshe, finely grated, witha a unique spring onion flair. There was music playing in the background, which created a relaxing ambiance. The hosting was attentive, where an effort was made constantly to insiret all was okay with us. This was my first time here; however, I will be returning, and so should you. My only disappointment was that I had to return to work.

Order took 2 hours to come. Called the restaurant and after asking different members of staff and putting me on hold the boy on the phone told me the driver has it now and will leave now. The driver then didn’t leave for another 15/20 minutes.

Gotta say, Jerk Cafe provided the catering for my birthday bash and it went down a storm. No sooner had Lemael dropped the food off people were queuing up with plates in hand even while i was removing the last of the lids. Just as well i had taken take away cartons with me as some were filling these to take home with thm. Some if my guests said they have used another jerk chicken eatery but not anymore, Jerk cafe is now their go to place. I highly reccommend Jerk Cafe for all your catering and meal out nights, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

good food service appalling. waitress totally uninterested in service, i had to ask for a drink and asked about food she shrugged her shoulders so i decided for myself. food was nice but i had to listen reggae music much to loud and her phone on loud speaker chatting nonsense, couldn’t wait to get out of there which was a shame as the food was good, i feel this restaurant could thrive if it was run properly and putting the customer 1st not just turning up for a shift.

Born and raised in south london, coupled with being from a Caribbean background I have had my share of west indian meals both home cooked and from the variety of take always around. This is by far the best I've experienced. You ask for large and the portion size is generous. Specifically the curried mutton meat is brilliant, not all bones and disappointment. The family have tried alot of the menu and have never been disappointed. If ever you're in the area then this place is a must-go. Staff are polite and helpful. Occasionally some things are not on the menu but that is the experience everywhere and the quality of what they serve more than makes up for it Edit: 5 to 3 stars. Years later and unfortunately the place seems lower in quality. I don't think this place can deal with large take away orders without multiple missing items regularly. So a family of 6 have to stretch 4 meals because 2 are missed. It's really quite poor. I find their curry goat(mutton) isn't very good any more. Meat tastes different and it's almost like stewed mutton covered in lot of oil. It's a big shame as we have given patronage for years but now we are less frequent because of regular disappointment.

I am writing this review as part of my EXCELLENT experience at the Shoeburyness jamaican festival! As my partner is Celiac we find it hard to find gluten free food and The Jerk Cafe was the only stand that proudly displayed allergen awareness so I asked one of the young men if they could confidently supply a Gluten Free “loaded jerk chips” He was brilliant and although he knew the answer he still double checked the ingredients and all staff treated the food with the highest of hygiene (i.e washing hands, changing gloves and using clean utensils) The food flavour was the best we have ever had and we are thinking of driving top STROOD (never been there) just to come for dinner! If the owner is reading this, please give your team praise as they did you proud! I highly recommend anyone wanting to eat fantastic food! Duncan

This was our first visit to the Jerk cafe, and we had never had Caribbean food before. The food was simply amazing. I had the mutton curry with rice and peas and a lamb pattie. The wife had Brown stew chicken, rice and peas and a roti bread. The mutton curry had a nice gentle heat to it and was lovely, as was the brown stew. I found the Jamaican pattie to be a bit bland, but setting that aside I would recommend the food. We found parking in a local car park behind the Jerk cafe, a 4 minute walk.

Visited jerk cafe for the first time today after visiting family and it was the best Jamaican food I have ever had. We had jerk chicken, mutton curry, brown stew chicken, plantain, rice and peas, dumpling and lamb pattie and all dishes were absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend and can't wait to go back.
