Jemoleys Penyfford in Flintshire

Passing through and stopped here today. Coffees were lukewarm and tea was very disappointing. Please try harder - probably unlucky with the tea dust at the end of a packet maybe. I never like to complain but I should have so they could rectify.

After having heard this is a really lovely place to eat we thought we would try it! So were sad to find our experience was so different! My latte was barely warm, the bagel I had was smeared with cream cheese, not smothered as per menu and was also burnt! The carrot cake was filled with a musty tasting filling! So disappointed

Long wait, didnt seem busy, found staff bit stuffy. Seemed to be full of locals that took preference. Not impressed to be honest

Checked the website the night before showing open until 2pm. Turned up with family after arranging tl meet here at 12pm. Walked in to be told it was closing for a christening.

We visited twice in the month of June, we showed up with 16 of us and the staff were extremely accommodating and it was explained straight away that there would be a slight wait which was completely understandable. The food and drinks arrived quicker than we expected and the service we received was amazing. Later in the month I returned with my girlfriend and her sister, we had a quick breakfast before work, I had pancakes and the other two had beans and scrambled eggs on toast, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we treated ourselves to some cake to take home with us which was superb, I would highly recommend this place, the service and value just can’t be beaten 🙌🏻

The food is stunning, the staff are all really nice and friendly and I can’t believe I’ve never been before! Can’t wait to come back for more of those loaded fries!

Popped into this little local cafe after a recommendation from a family member. We were very lucky to get seated so would recommend booking The atmosphere was warm and bright with friendly staff who greet you as you come in then carry out table service Breakfast was fantastic and served steamingly hot with excellent quality ingredients Tea was freshly brewed with leaves in individual pots Will return to try some of the lunch dishes Also the takeaway cake was wonderful later

I'm new to the area and wanted to support a local business, turns out they don't want support. No table service unless you're a regular, drinks and the food took 60 minutes. Picture says it all on food quality. Staff and clients want to stare and make your experience as uncomfortable as possible. Was told I was allowed a dog in due to torrential rain (I wouldn't normally expect a dog to be allowed into a food establishment) then a few minutes later got kicked out and had to wait in the rain for our order. There was an outdoor sheltered area but the clients would not share. No help when rain was torrential, had to wait for someone to rescue us with a car. Wanted to cancel the order but they kept claiming it would be 2 minutes.

The food here is so tasty. Big breaky was delish. Great service and the cakes are unreal 😍 a must visit.

Just been back to Jemolys and had the Club sandwich. It was delicious, probably the best one I have had in a long time. Service was quick, staff friendly as usual. We sat outside in the sun in the courtyard at the back.

I've been coming here for years. Jim and Mary built this place from the ground up and created our little village's best kept secret. It's changed hands since but I am thrilled to see that all the original, super friendly staff are still there, and the original menu is still going strong. Jemoley's really does offer the best breakfast of any café for miles. The sausages are absolutely delicious, the plates are piping hot, and I don't know how they do it but there's never a scrap of grease on the plate. The ingredients used here are are sourced locally, and are the highest quality. The food is always cooked to perfection, with lots of hearty, homely and comforting options on the menu. Lovely to see some new items on the menu with the change of hands too - the cakes in particular are divine! My one and only gripe is that it's become a very popular place to eat now, and this little gem is no longer the village's best kept secret, so when it's busy, it does lose it's little village charm a bit. Victim of your own success I guess! So it's probably best to book in advance if you can, but other than that - there's nowhere else I'd rather go! As a small local business, we do try to support as many other small local businesses in the area that we can, and there are other great places in the area to get a decent breakfast but... Jemoley's is simply the best. We will be back again, and again. Thanks guys xxx

Was recommended here by two locals, so so good! I’ve had a takeaway breakfast which was hot and tasty. Then I’ve had a take away coffee and cake which was also all really tasty. Great value and would definitely recommend.

Went this morning with a friend & had carrot cake & latte. Gorgeous as always. Wasn’t sure if would still be as good under new ownership (Claire) as when Mary & Jim had it but just as brilliant service & food. Thank you xxxx

Delicious food. Menu has become limited since reopening after covid but still lots of choice. Eggs Benedict are the best from here. My daughter had a chicken Caesar wrap too and said it was delicious

Early as usual for a family christening looking for a coffee in Penyffordd, near Chester, not biggest location or on most folks travel arrangements. Friendly welcome, shown to our table and clearly very busy. We only had coffee but the morning breakfast did look excellent. There was also a very nice range of home made looking cakes. The local family members said they have also breakfasted here and thoroughly enjoy it. I highly recommend this establishment.

Visited twice, both times on a Saturday afternoon, first before Christmas to paint, and today to collect our creations. Both times, the service and food were excellent. There are great specials to choose from, and the menu has Soups, sandwiches, salads. The cakes are really tempting and delicious. It's busy so would recommend booking, they're very responsive to messages via the contact form on the website, and, of course, you can phone. I'd say the prices for food and crafting are fair. This is our new favourite place for a treat! Thank you

Heard about this cafe from friends who live locally . My friend and I called for lunch this week . What a lovely place and excellant choice . Soup and cheese scone for me and welsh rarebit for my friend , leaving room for cake . Victoria sandwich and orange slice we shared so we could try the two . Very tasty . Coffee and tea . We will be back .Staff very friendly too

I often take my kids to Jemoleys for breakfast or lunch, the staff are very friendly and particularly great with kids when you have a fussy eater! The food is always nice, and a varied selection of cakes are always on offer. We've tried our hand at the ceramic painting a few times as well, and they make for some great momentos.

We work over the road and it’s safe to say at least one of us orders every week! Food is absolutely amazing and panini are to die for. Recently tried breakfast also lovely an can take dogs outside

Visiting family and decided to have lunch at the local cafe, what can I say, it was worth the 250 mile drive. Staff are very helpful and friendly food was fantastic, will definitely go back again.

Lovely breakfast and amazing portion size which is only 6.95 and you get 2 bacon, 2 stunning sausages, an egg, mushrooms, fried onions, beans, tomato and toast. Nice staff and very good service. Definitely want to try the homemade cakes one day soon! Will definitely be visiting again soon!

The title of my review just about says it all - Fantastic all day breakfast - best ever. The cakes in the cabinet looked pretty promising but they are for another time!

Called in today for breakfast, quality food, served on a hot plate! And real butter on the toast(seeded bread excellent!) cafe interior light and fresh, i was happy to pay £6’ish for it because it was one of the best breakfasts l’ve had, thanks, now im off to Spain where i live!

Despite being full and busy the service was very professional and calm. As usual the food standers was high too.

Three of us went this morning two had a full breakfast and I had smashed avocado on toast with bacon poached egg and goats cheese and balsamic drizzle. I was actually really hungry so I doubled my order - I needn’t have bothered, when it arrived I thought there is no way I’m going to get through this. However on eating it, the combination of ingredients and whatever they have done to the avocado was simply gorgeous and there was not a chance I was going to leave any of it so I left absolutely stuffed but my word I will be having that again. As usual the place is scrupulously clean and the staff friendly and the prices are more than reasonable. A little diamond in Penyffordd.

I’ve eaten here several times now in the last few weeks and the food and service is great quality. Plenty of good choice on the menu and they also cater for children with a smile. Comfortable and warm atmosphere. Great value for money. The only thing I would say, is they could do with a better tasting coffee. For me, it’s too weak. But overall, a great place to eat.

Visited with friends and family for Refreshments and Brunch. Warm welcome on arrival, good atmosphere, excellent food, friendly staff and good service. Really enjoyed our visit and will be back. Really lovely Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea menu available to book. Nice idea too.

We visited Jemoleys Cafe recently for breakfast - following my wife's visit for afternoon tea, and I couldn't fault anything about it.

I have been here a number of times over the years with my children. The staff are always really nice and helpful.

Visited several times with my daughter & 2 granddaughters, aged 5 & 2 1/2. Good food, lovely staff, books, puzzles for the girls, & painting! Treated us really well, plenty of time for the children & no rushing with the activity. What’s not to like? Something different & well worth a visit. We will be going again!

Took my Mum for lunch. We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. We chose two of the beautiful panini. Staff were willing to mix the flavour options to suit my Mum’s palate. A very tasty lunch! Gorgeous cakes!

I visited this week with my daughter & granddaughter who had been before so knew where everything was for painting a pot. Firstly I was shocked by the price of the pots, the minimum seems to be marginally under £10 rising steeply thereafter! We had coffee, juice & cake which was ok but nothing special. However my main concern was an health & safety issue. The paints are easily accessible to children but so are the writing pens/paints which have a very fine & very sharp removable needle closing the end of the bottle! I was horrified to think that young children could help themselves to these pens! Parents beware! I am considering reporting this issue to the Health & Safety Executive.

Never had anything here that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Not just never had anything bad; never had anything that wasn’t DELICIOUS! Sure, you can get paninis and jacket potatoes etc plenty of places, but not to the standard of Jemoleys. Staff also always very friendly. Top place to go for a spot of lunch.

Everyone, including the other customers, was pleasant. A lady sat at the end creating pottery so it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere Cakes and coffee were good, service excellent. Outdoor area.

They were really busy when we arrived as a very large party had arrived without booking so there was a bit of a wait. Food was delicious though and we will be returning!

Excellent food and service, you can always rely on Jemoleys for first class, tasty meals. Their chargrilled vegetables and goats cheese panini is the scrummiest panini around . Overall good value for money , well worth a visit x

Absolutely fantastic cafe with friendly and welcoming staff and they really are a credit to the business. Myself and my mother visit for cake and coffee and it is like a home from home which is endearing

Have had breakfast and brunch here several times and the food is tasty and well cooked however, the cook's near obsession with serving the food on piping hot plates spoils the eating experience and sometimes the food. Eggs, both scrambled and poached continue to cook if not eaten quickly and my friend had red mark on her finger from catching it on the edge of the plate while using cutlery to cut her food. So glad we did not have children with us. Plates should be warm not to hot to touch.

Came down for coffee and cake with my daughter. Great selection of home made cakes. Good variety of hot drinks and the milk Schmoo is always a treat.

I’ve been here a few times now, stopping for breakfast on a cycle ride. Always made to feel welcome and the breakfast has been perfect.

Enjoyed a lovely breakfast here with fresh tasting quality ingredients. The sausages especially are great. Treated ourselves to cake afterwards which was very tasty too. We had two babies with us and were provided with a high chair for both and there were some toys available for them too. They made a bit of a mess with their food and we offered to clean it up but staff wouldn't let us as they were happy to do it themselves. Didn't paint any pottery but looks like it would be fun to do. Been here before in the summer as well and sat outside as you can bring dogs into the outdoor seating area which is a nice touch. Staff were lovely both times I've been, very welcoming and cheerful

We ate here Saturday morning a couple of weeks back. Adults and children were all made really welcome. The food is great. Freshly prepared and top class ingredients. What a great breakfast! I'd recommend it and will be back soon!

Called in for brunch on sunday. First impressions were of a busy place with nice feel to it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ordered from the breakfast menu, all cooked fresh to order and was not disappointed. Absolutely gorgeous. The cakes looked amazing also.

I've eaten in there and also had take outs. The food is lovely and the cakes amazing. Well worth a visit.

Visited recently with a friend and our first impression was what lovely helpful staff. Afternoon tea was lovely, with a choice of both sandwiches and cake - very sensible. It was obviously a very popular place to eat as it was very busy, with lots of packed lunches being taken out. Would definitely recommend.

I visited here on a recommendation. My first impressions were amazing as we were welcomed warmly and offered a choice of tables, the place felt relaxing and there was a nice vibe about the place. The menu had a great selection to choose from and there was also a lovely selection of cakes and drinks. I ordered the goat’s cheese and vegetable Panini which was presented beautifully and there was plenty of it with lots of lovely salad and crisps, I would have a small grumble reluctantly that there was a little too much goat’s cheese to roast veg ratio for my liking although that could be personal preference. I am looking forward to going back for food and taking the children as they will love the ceramic painting that’s on offer. I guess that’s one of the nicest things about the café, it felt like it catered to all, families, works lunches, friends meet up etc. very well.

My family and I went to Jemoleys on Mother's Day 2017, we arrived and was promptly shown our table to sit at. The tables were nice and clean and the overall look of the place was modern and clean. We were given our drinks and started which were all delicious, the staff were really welcoming and nice to us. Our main meal was a lovely assortment of foods. The dessert was also really nice and definitely well made. Overall I'd give Jemoleys a 5/5 it was a great place for Mother's Day lunch, the staff were welcoming and the food was delicious

Last Wed I popped in to see if they could create half a dozen vegan chocolate cakes for me by the Friday - the answer was yes and the result - truly wonderful!! Mouth-watering cakes - moist, rich and chocolatey and totally vegan! No idea how they do it - but so glad they do! :)

First visit yesterday with two children to do some painting. The staff were brilliant with them both, the food (particularly the cakes) were amazing. Absolutley fautless. The staff went out of their way to help one of their customers which was really touching. Great little place and highly recommended. The kids had a great time painting too.

The sausages are amazing ! The food was very good but the sausages were in another league ! Great breakfast followed by a yummy cake ! A great find and will be back again !

We visit Jemoleys regularly and are never disappointed. Staff are friendly, lovely with children and nothing is ever too much trouble. They have a perfect menu with something to suit everyone's taste. The food is absolutely delicious - I particularly love the healthy options but the homemade cakes are amazing too! Coffees are served hot hot hot and their milkshakes can't be beaten in our daughter's opinion! There are baskets of books and toys to keep the children entertained as well of course, as the ceramic painting. There's a great range of things to paint and good quality paints, brushes etc.Ladies nights are fab - a fun, chilled way to get together with friends and get creative at the same time. We feel very lucky to live in a village with such a gem. Thank you Jemoleys!

Owned and run by a lovely couple, this family friendly cafe offers a well presented and cosy lunch style menu to suite most peoples needs, whether a quick bite or something more substantial.The cafe hosts regular "ladies night" evenings and boasts a unique ceramic and craft element for those interested, which when i have been here seems to keep youngsters occupied while mum and dad enjoy the grub. All staff are very friendly and helpful with a bright and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a drop in.

Called in for lunch and a catch up with friends today. The food was lovely (a light bite for me today - chicken quesadillas), great coffee and I couldn't resist the carrot cake! Unlike another review which reported cold coffee mine was lovely and hot, and the service warm and friendly. Can't wait to come back.

Popped down for breakfast and was not disappointed. Friendly welcome by all staff. Service was quick and efficient. Food excellent as usual. The place was looking festive. There was a kids party on as well but with the new extension this had no effect on our experience.

As I,m new to the village of Pennyffordd thouht I would call into this horrible place for a nice cup of coffee and perhaps make some new friends...was treated as if I had a disease..called "not welcome stranger "...coffee was cold and the manager/ ßtaff were very abrupt.The cafe was filled with ? Local gossips who were also rude and unfriendly....new visitors to the lovely little village of Penyffordd...give this place a wide berth,the other restaurants are far nicer and more friendly ....and the coffee isnt cold

We had a great time today for lunch at Jemoleys. We thought it would be nice to mark our babies 6 month 'birthday' with a crafty plate making session.The whole experience and hospitality from the staff was amazing, extremely helpful and supportive especially when juggling a baby covered in paint! Will certainly be going back again,Well worth the visit : )

My friend and I have just had a super delicious lunch at Jemoleys, we both had the homemade soup one golden veg with bread and butter & one parsnip & apple with a carrot, cream cheese & sweet chilli sandwich ( advise by staff to give the sandwich a try and I was not disappointed it was very nice). Staff are so nice and I would give them 100% for customer service nothing is to much trouble. If you have not been go and sample there super menu :-D :-D

We have been to Jemoley's lot's of times and enjoyed our visits , however on this occasion we had as we always have booked a table , only to be spoken to quite abruptly by the owner , asking had we booked a table , the food was nice , but didn't enjoy our time here on this occasion . They must have been having a bad day maybe ??

If I were dying and I had only 1 hour left to live i think I'd spend it eating here! The breakfast from this place is unbeatable! If anyone could find one better than this place then it certainly wouldn't be in this country! The staff are welcoming and friendly and all that hospitality, no matter how good, fades into insignificance when you start eating! It wouldn't matter if the staff were rude....I'd just ignore that for their breakfast! Thankfully however, the staff are amazing and it's an around top notch establishment! Here is where you really can't beat a good breakfast. There is plenty of varied dishes on the menu, changed regularly. The wine on offer is carefully selected and if you fancy an afternoon glug you won't be disappointed

A group of five of us visited this cafe at the weekend before attending a local wedding. We noticed it on the drive in to the town so thought that we'd give it a whirl. How lucky we were to find such a lovely place. The menu was great filled with plenty of breakfast options of all sizes (great vegetarian options), there were plenty of hot and cold drinks on offer and although we only had breakfast the rest of the menu and the fresh cakes/biscuits on offer all looked great as well.It was such a lovely day that we ate whilst sat outside in the back courtyard. Each of us ordered something different and yet all of the meals came out at the same time, all piping hot and after only a short wait which was very impressive. The service was also wonderful. It was like having breakfast in a family members house. The lady who served us was so friendly and talkative and really looked after us. The only shame is that we don't live close enough to re-visit any time soon. We would all definitely return though in the future. A real treat!

Have placed a few phone orders through over the last few months, the staff have been very friendly and willing to please. The food on both occasions has been superb. On one occasion we were missing a few items from our order and when phoned back they deliver the missing items straight away. Fantastic service with staff that go the extra mile

My second review of Jemoleys. A lovely place to stop for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea and cakes. Food is freshly made with great quality ingredients, tasty and plentiful. Staff extremely welcoming. Oh and the prosecco is lovely too :). Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

I placed a large lunch order today for our team here at Best Companies in Llay. Mary took our order and was super warm and friendly.When i collected the order shortly after, everything was ready on time and looked amazing.All the staff were friendly, and nothing was too much trouble.The food was delicious, and all the team at BC will be visiting again with our friends and families.

Came here to paint with the children and grab a bite. I wasn't expecting much from the food as normally these places are fish finger and chips kinda food, was really surprised the menu was extensive and lovely had smoked salmon on Bagel really good a friend had chicken salad was Sooo nice cakes are fab too

Just dropped in on Saturday lunchtime for a quick bite to eat, as normal just lovely ( if you live in area go and try it you won't be disappointed). Staff very friendly with great service, we had a panini each & both very tasty with that nice bit of salad on the side ( not just a handful of wilted lettuce like some cafés). The afternoon tea is excellent too, well done Jemoleys don't change a thing!!

My first visit to Jemoleys and it won't be the last. I was leading a group of 9 cyclists in total and had booked a table for 12:30 initially but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to put the time back not once but twice, eventually arriving at about 1.35pm. The best bit about the visit was the warm welcome and the humour tolerating some out of control, generally elderly cyclists. Every meal that was ordered was delicious and very promptly delivered, again with a laugh and a joke. We loved the place and sat out side in the sun. Brilliant!!

Visited this week after seeing all the excellent reviews online and had a lovely late breakfast. Although quite busy, staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was as good as expected and will definitely visit again soon.

Without exception I have a wonderful experience in Jemoleys and would recommend it to anyone. I don't mind waiting a little while as the food is always freshly cooked and delivered to my table with a smile. The waitresses are lovely and efficient, the chefs have just the right recipe and the owners are inspired! Can't wait to go to the Ladies' Night with my daughter this Friday for a meal and paint a pot whilst I'm there :)

Yet again jemoleys has come out on top. Seven of us from 2 years to 75 years enjoyed tea and home made cake today for my birthday.Such a relaxed atmosphere, nothing is too much for the lovely staff!Can't wait to do it again!

My family and I visit often. The food is always delicious and they do an amazing pot of tea!!! My children aged 4 and 1 both love coming for food and sometimes crafts. The ceramics make excellent gifts for our hard to please family. We love Jamoleys and couldn't recommend enough!

My wife and I visited this cafe off the cuff and we were very pleased!The cafe is a medium sized cafe with plenty of room. We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and seated. Our drinks order arrived straight away.The menu was plentiful! We ordered paninis and they were delicious! Great sizes and food comes with a delicious side salad and crisps. We planned on having one of their fresh looking cakes but were so stuffed by the time we finished that we had to give it a miss!We'd definitely recommend this little gem to anyone in the area.

Thought I would just mention that the toasted teacakes are THE BEST!Jemoleys is on our cycling route and a stop for toasted teacake and latte is what keeps us going.We often take visiting friends there for breakfast and everyone loves it. We are so lucky to have such a great cafe on our doorstep.

Regularly come to Jemoley's for morning coffee, afternoon tea, Ladies Nights, take away cakes, take away salads and sandwiches. The food is unfailingly of top quality; the staff are unfailingly polite and attentive and will stop to chat. The café is truly an asset, bringing life to the centre of the village. It's well worth a visit whether you are local or passing through. You will not be disappointed. The pottery painting experience is great for adults or children. What could be nicer than tapping in to your creative side while the lovely staff bring you great food? Come once and you will want to visit again.

Had a lovely time with friends on ladies night. Food was lovely and the atmosphere great . Lots of wine helped to make my painted pot a masterpiece.

I cannot recommend Jemoleys enough. Right from my very first visit I was made to feel very welcome by Mary and her wonderful staff. The food is amazing and prepared on the premises. Home cooking at its best! There is always a selection of cakes to take away with you too. I have bought whole cakes for celebrations too, giving only a few hours notice and nothing is too much trouble. My last visit was to the "Ladies Night" which was a very enjoyable experience as always. Delicious food combined with painting a ceramic bowl for my daughter and catching up with friends. The only difference this time was that we couldn't bring our own wine but that was no problem. We bought a bottle of wine between us at a very reasonable price, other drinks were available too and jugs of water were brought to our table. The staff are so attentive and even help with artistic ideas for our pot painting.Jemoleys is the sort of place you could visit on your own and not feel like a fish out of water. It is like visiting family.......what more can I say.

My friends and I enjoyed the Ladies Night last week. We had all visited Jemoleys before but never for this event which I understand has been taking place with much success for some time. Everything was first class from the food to the service and the owner Mary and the staff (especially Sue) were very attentive. I would highly recommend this to any groups of ladies who like to get together to enjoy one another's company in welcoming surroundings
