My friends and I went out to dine, and we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Meanwhile, a group of four who sat down after us managed to order, eat, pay, and leave, all while we were still waiting for our food. To make things worse, some of our dishes, like salad, didn’t even require cooking. Absolutely disappointed.

Real Thai taste is here! Nothing to complain... - Warm welcome by Auntie and Uncle - Various kinds of menu and they gave us time, not in rush and we can asked for less spicy. - Quick serve, we didn't wait too long for our food, and they came with a very big portion! - Of course, it tastes good like original Thai food from Thailand, which I love. In the end we can't finish because it's so much. So we have to ask for a takeaway box. And with those amazing food, there's no problem for us to just walk crossing the road to take cash out from the gas station. Worth it! P.S. Seafood som-tum is so good! And the grill pork came out like steak with amazing 3 types of sauces(Thai style), and chicken cashew nuts is also amazing because not everywhere they do fried chicken, and that's makes it more tasty! 😍😋👍 Can't wait to go back there again!!!

Cosy little restaurant, with more space around the back area...The food is delicious and the variety of dishes is truly amazing.....The place isn't licensed, for the selling of alcohol, just bring your own. They do sell soft drinks though. The restaurant is managed by authentic Thai members of staff, who are very welcoming. A meal for four people, with starters, was £98......quite reasonable, I would say, for the Bristol area..

Reasonable Thai food, little bit expensive for portion size but main reason for low rating is that the dining area is small, uncomfortable and too noisy on busy nights. So not a great option for me but others may think otherwise.

The first thing I can say about this place is that the food is absolutely stupendous. Our range of main courses, sides and starters were cooked to perfection and served in a friendly and professional manner. The place was busy but not too rowdy, which was nice considering it was just after a Rovers game. It's nice to see a place doing well but my only criticism of Jean's is that the first row of tables are situated right by the front door, which opens inwards, exposing diners to the vagaries of Glossy Rd every 60 seconds. For this reason we asked to be moved and the staff were more than accommodating. I rarely give 5-star reviews but this came very close, so well done Jean's. I'm just updating this from December 2021. We pre booked a large party for my partners birthday. People had come from far a wide, not just Bristol and we had massively hyped Jeans to them all. Unfortunately this experience was nothing like as good. Slow service in between starters and mains caused me to get a Dominos starter pizza just to keep my 5 year old girl fed. Watching countless Deliveroo drivers coming to pick up orders while we sat there with empty plates for 90 mins was painful, to say the least. Due to the huge wait many of our party had consumed alcohol before eating, which exacerbated their hunger. the food is great but I wouldn't take a large party back as they clearly couldn't cater for it. Update July 24. Was back at jeans on Wednesday and I have to say this time that service and food were impeccable. An accommodating and friendly team with still reasonably good prices for Bristol. My sole criticism this time was that the eating area was way too hot on the kitchen was too close. Take note, some trendy places make a big deal of showing off the kitchen but this looked like more like a sweatshop!

Great service, though I wouldn't say it's a stand-out meal for me in Bristol. We had the ribs, which I thought was rather sweet, and the chicken wings, which were quite oily. I was hoping for the thai fish sauce wings. The papaya salad was spicy as you'd expect, but I wouldn't say it left a lasting impression. Sadly, this is usually a highlight for me in any thai restaurant. The beef massaman curry was lovely, though. Cash-only business, I'd like to assume the best intentions that they pay their fair share of tax, just like we all would, but should this be better signposted, I usually avoid cash-only businesses so as not to encourage potential tax evasion.

This was our second visit to jean’s. After having a fabulous first visit here we decided to come back. However we had a very different experience sat out in “the back”. Dirty unwelcoming surroundings, kitchen staff continuously walking past, to be fair doing their job but inappropriate for the customer! I’d say for future customers, wonderful food and definitely go but if it’s a table out the back, give it a miss go somewhere else and try again next time

Food was really tasty. Good value for money too but I have a couple of issues. Firstly, the place is cash only which is quite inconvenient, especially when they haven't made it abundantly clear. Secondly, I was sitting outside and felt a little forgotten. I accept I hadn't booked and the waitress said there were no seats inside when I decided it was getting too cold for me but I did ask if she could let me know when a table inside becomes available. When I went inside to pay, because no one came outside to my table, there were two available and no one had offered them to me. There was also quite a large gap between starters and main. All in all, I would go back because of the price and there's a few things I'm aware of so hopefully it will be more pleasant.

Mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, the Thai food was rather authentic, even though not the best I’ve ever had. On the other hand, a few things put me off about this restaurant: - Who has cash as the only payment option in 2024? - I was most excited to try the Thai Lemon Tea, but the waitress said they had run out. On a Saturday at 6pm? That was a bit of a disappointment. - The plate the pork belly came in was totally flat, so when the waitress brought it over, it spilled sauce and oil all over the table and on my boyfriend’s pants. Overall, the food is quite good, but not enough to make want to come back.

Really good food, they have options with various levels of spicyness so don't worry if you don't like it hot, you will still find something on the menu. You can actually taste the flavours, it's not just overpowering hot spices. The panang curry and the pork belly stew was yummy, will definitely return to try other things on the menu. The place is busy so be prepared to wait, but it will be worth it. Dine-in or collection (no delivery), and cash only.

busy restaurant, friendly staff, good atmosphere, decent food. Pad thai was very yummy and all the food came with good presentation, but came with way too much salad that didn’t really taste of much so felt like a waste. also the pad thai was covered in salad which made it look big but actually not that much underneath. 4 stars is mostly to the fact you have to pay cash, which meant we had a bit of a worry before the meal as the cash point opposite was out of order!! and we had count everything we ordered because we never keep cash on us and we had only withdrawn just enough for the meal !

What a gem. Was searching for my go-to Thai restaurant in Bristol and Jean's came highly recommended. Although very busy (you need to book), it is worth it. Reasonable prices and top cooking. Also, due to a funny happenstance, we had a booking when the restaurant was supposed to be closed. They kindly honoured it, didn't tell us until we arrived and we had a lovely semi-private dining experience with the owners and staff for company. Lots of laughs, stories and thoughts about life in Bristol, food and travel shared. It felt less like a restaurant and more an invitation to someone's home and circle. Loved it - I'm a fan and 20/10 will return again. <3 Bristol is lucky to have this spot.

This evening dined at Jean’s Bistro and enjoyed a delightful Thai feast. I started with the Tom Yum Seafood Soup, which was a symphony of flavors with its tangy and spicy broth. The generous amount of seafood in the soup made it a satisfying appetizer. For the main course, I had the Thai BBQ Belly Pork. The dish was a masterpiece of tender, succulent pork with a sweet and smoky glaze. The balance of flavors and the perfect char on the pork made it a highlight of the meal. I also tried the Thai Seafood Salad, which was a refreshing combination of fresh seafood and vibrant herbs. The zesty dressing brought all the ingredients together, creating a burst of flavors in every bite. Overall, the experience at Jean’s Bistro was a culinary journey through authentic Thai cuisine. The attentive service and the inviting ambiance added to the pleasure of the meal. I would highly recommend trying these dishes if you visit this restaurant. Sadly the problem was one of consistency. I had my first Pad Thai a few years ago. It was superb. The second sample was so spicy I got hiccups. Unfortunately this week's was completely lacking in flavour. Three of us agreed. That said the starters were superb and excellent value for money. Having just two sessions creates problems. Food that gives you a hug!!! The food here is amazing. It tastes home cooked in nice warming sauces. Been coming here lots whilst working away down Bristol and honestly for a dinner that makes you feel nice full and warm inside there isn't any better around Bristol. The fact Jean comes through with fresh veg from her grocery next door and you can see her and her team chopping and adding the veg to different pots and pans gives you the real sense they care about the food their serving. There is a £2.50 corkage feel for BYO alcohol but the choice of soft drinks and refreshing iced teas means that normally the beer and wine is left in the bag. For a nice casual evening meal for friends, couples, families or people who fancy something homely after work this place is an absolute must!! Word of advice it is only small and can feel a little cramped however once the food comes out the size of the place disappears into the background as you are too engrossed in the food!

Dined in there last night. We’d booked a table at 6pm to have a birthday meal for one of our friends, upon arrival a young lady warned us they would like to have our table back by 8pm, which sounded ok to all 7 of us. Ordered starters and mains, finished eating at about 7:25. When we asked to have a look at their dessert menu, however, the response we got was: ‘Unfortunately that won’t be possible as you won’t have time to order, eat your desserts and be gone by 8’. All of us found that extremely rude and unprofessional. As per restaurant etiquette, it’s only normal that the customer is offered or shown a dessert menu/ coffee after a big meal. That clearly cannot be a moneymaking strategy. Although I enjoyed the food, I won’t be going back to this place.

We visited Jeans this evening for take out. When we put our order in we were informed it was a 40min wait. The waitress took my husbands name and number, so (our mistake I guess) we thought they'd call us when it was ready. When ordering I asked for no coriander on anything! Can't stand the stuff. We waited an hour and 20mins before asking about the food. They said it was ready. Looking at the receipt it looked like it had been ready for half an hr. No call and no one came out to us while we were sat Infront of the restaurant to say it was ready. Needless to say, we got home to a cold dinner ☹️ with coriander on 3 of the 4 dishes. I would have messaged directly to explain my grievance but there is no way other than phone to contact them. Maybe this was a one off but feel disappointed with the service and cold food 🤷

Hopefully this improves the next time I visit.

Been here several times before and always enjoyed it, the food is delicious and very authentic. This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants in the area but I do have some comments that may be considered negative but I hope are helpful. Parking. There is no dedicated parking and finding a space anywhere near the venue is a nightmare. The venue itself is small so they can’t take big groups. There is limited seating in the restaurant but they do offer seating at the back but this was the back yard and though it’s covered and waterproof, it’s very cold, even with the heaters provided. I don’t want to sit eating Thai food in my winter coat. There is only one toilet which means it’s in demand and can get a bit ‘used’ at the end of the day. There are two seatings at night, 6 pm and 8 pm which can be inconvenient and if you go for the early sitting you have to be prepared to vacate in tim we for the second set of diners . This is a BYO but they quite unnecessarily charge £2.50 corkage per person. When we went they made £30 profit just for supplying a cork screw, even those like me that Frank’s soft drinks still had to pay! The best plan is to go into the pub next door and buy a jug of beer which you can carry into the restaurant free of charge! I have been using this place for a few years and In my opinion the portions have gotten significantly smaller as the price has gone up. That said, the food, service and venue are excellent so I recommend giving this place a try.

Ordered on uber eats. Pad Thai with Tofu and Chicken Red Curry. Delivered in ethical cardboard packaging. Both dishes were very tasteful and generous. Curry had sensible amount of heat. Pad Thai very tasty and tofu cooked perfectly.
