JD Wetherspoon in Hackney

There are much better Wetherspoons, food okay, it's not a Michelin star but, we know that. Some staff, not all, are completely oblivious to serving food that you ordered. One served me sausages and mash with a tuna jack potatoes, someone else of the staff came to fix it. The loos are a discrace, they don't employ cleaners, sometimes a barmaid turns up for a quick broom action and that's it. 💩

Smashing spoons very spacious and cheap drinks. The bartenders are very friendly and there's very rare a wait as they're on top of it all.

This pub just go's down hill you can't even get a pint of Guinness I a Guinness glass plus the toilet are atrocious the disabled toilets are atrociously disgraceful the staff allow use to no disabled people and open the door for them aren't disabled people supposed to have their own key and the the state they they leave it in is disgraceful

I have my self been a regular here for a long time along with a lot of other regular coustemers and friends a like beut when rowdy people come in the management do not interven and just let them create a Lound and uncomfortable atmosphere so the regular customer leaves and passing trade customers go and doubt if thy would ever come back the staff are good but the manager is of no back bone

Visited on 28th. I know it’s a spoons but good god this makes the rest look 3star Michelin. Menus on tables that finished on 24th , gutting as was looking forward to some decent Christmas Ale ( usually the one thing Spoons gets right) . Didn’t spot the expiry till we went to order. Ordered some small plates for the kids , specifically asked for a plain chicken burger, as eldest can’t have some of the items used to tart up the burger and 2 mains for us( important as we said 2 ) Kids meals arrived after 20 mins which is fairly good, if the place was heaving. But it wasn’t . Waited 10 mins and asked where the adults meals were, the slightly self important woman who had difficulty operating a simple EPOS, told us “ coming shortly”. A further 10 mins passed. So we checked again. Told had all been sent out. Nope . Again self important woman was very rude and told me I shouldn’t be rude and ask where it was ! Sat and waited another 5 mins and we saw one meal disappearing to another table. Server brought over like we were wrong for mentioning again after 45 mins 25 mins after kids meals had been served .. we asked where 2nd one was and server went to check. Turns out order taker had only put one through. Was what we had any good. Nope. Not even by the poor standards set by spoons for food. The burger ordered as plain wasn’t so we had to remove a lot and scrape to ensure nothing there that shouldn’t. The pud was lukewarm in centre and the gravy was greasy - I’m expecting a rough night . Best bet would be avoid and go to the pizza express 2 doors down.

Food came within 5 minutes of ordering it and it was Typical Wetherspoon fare cheap and cheerful not a Thing wrong with it and the staff were very friendly, spot on.

Extremely bad service, staff are miserable rude and not interested, I was ignored when trying to order a drink the barman went past me and into glass wash area, I politely tried to get his attention as he peeped round the doorway but still I was ignored 2 female customers came in and he was out like a flash walked past me to serve the females before me, totally unemployable staff who don't deserve a job, earlier a female bartender said I shouldn't drink,why work in a bar if people shouldn't drink, very rude clueless staff, AVOID THIS DUMP

Never been in a worst service Wetherspoon, the tables were all dirty, also the bathroom is absolutely disgusting

I am a fan of Wetherspoons for many years, I visited this venue twice 31st Dec and 01st Jan 2022. I had drinks and food both times, and both times the tables were filthy and sticky and had not been cleaned, I had to go and ask a staff member to clean my table both times...and they did somewhat reluctantly with a damp cloth and no antiseptic spray. The bar and waiting staff are very lazy and unmotivated. It's not very busy anymore and that's a reflection of how poorly it's being run. The food on both occasions was prompt and of a good standard and very good value. The toilets are spotless with plenty of hand sanitizer available throughout.

Amazing service the barman torique was amazing, literally catered to all of our needs, food arrived within minutes and couldn’t of been happier with the attentiveness of the staff! Thank you!!!

Very pleasantly done out inside, helpfully situated across the road from hackney empire which we were going to. Very reasonably priced beer for London (as always). Would recommend.

Fish and chips portion was excellent! Large piece of good quality fish and excellent batter, better than I’ve had at many chip shops. Furthermore, the service was impeccable especially from Marianne and Eveny! Both were extremely courteous, professional and friendly and made me feel really welcome and happy.

Extremely rude, condescending, sociopathic manager, who does whatever she likes despite whatever is normally considered to be moral or fair. AVOID!

It’s a Wetherspoons. Not sure what all the 1 star reviewers are expecting... a pint and a big feed paid for by the money you find on the street on the walk to the pub

We stopped in for a quick dinner. Unfortunately I thought it would be quick to order via the app. This was not the case. After 45 minutes I had to go to the bar and chase. They were clearly understaffed and I feel sorry for the staff who were working as they were under pressure. When the food came it was ok.

What a surprise to find this pub. I had never been to this area before and was not expecting more than chip shops. Baxter’s Court is clean, comfortable, food is really good and quite inexpensive!

Big boozer on mare st Hackny, Obviously no music here ,but a ggod buzz of conversation, booths allow a little more privacy, the food looks good just what you expect from wetherspoons. its the beer here, Brooklin beer is a loverly pint, but itll make a mess of you if you abuse it.

My partner and I have been here a few times but today we were so disappointed we had to leave. We are locals to this establishment but it is clear that the 'older' locals take absolute priority, we waited 20 minutes to be served at the bar, despite being at the front, because older men just budged their ways in front of us to be acknowledged by the staff straight away. Once the staff finally took notice of us, we were asked what we wanted before she disappeared to the other end of the bar to chat to another older gentleman (pouring a Guinness as she did so which was not what we ordered). We waited and watched in awe as she failed to return with our drinks after another 5 minutes waiting at the bar, we eventually turned and left empty handed. You're honestly better off spending a bit more money and getting wonderful service in local pubs such as pub on the park. Really hope the managers at this Wetherspoons can improve their staff attitudes

This Wetherspoons has a nice warm feel to it and decor.. Friendly and accommodating staff. As always Wetherspoons doesn't disappoint with great value foods. Impressed with the ladies toilets.

Another day, another Spoons.A grim January afternoon and Mare Street wasn't the most appealing as the drizzle did its thing. Baxter's Court was the chosen refuge and it was busy but I was served quickly at the enormous bar at the far end. There's also a smaller upstairs bar with seating area but I managed to find somewhere to sit, looking out onto the bus massive, waiting in the drizzle for their choice of ride. I knew I'd made the right choice.I've been coming to Baxter's Court since it opened and can't now remember Hackney before BC as it now seems to have been there forever. Although there are now a number of good pubs in the area serving real ale, it's reassuring to note that none can compete on the price of really good ales at Spoons, including Baxter's Court.The place is certainly a real community local pub and is used by all walks of Hackney life. It does get busy but it's so large, you can often find quiet pockets to locate into, including the upstairs area.The staff are invariably helpful and polite and worthy of special mention for the way they manage, including at the busiest times.

This place looks nice but I probably wouldn't bother going again. I stopped by for breakfast and ordered a fry up, the beans and sausages were bland but otherwise filled a hole. I had ordered coffee and it never arrived, I would have complained but I had a bus to catch and It didn't seem worth the hassle.

Myself & my 2 sons stopped off here whilst out in a ride around London. We found the pub to be quite busy as most Wetherspoons are these days. As we walked in we were met by 2 randoms that were standing outside smoking (these 2 were also still there when we left!!)The food is what you'd expect from these establishments, decent but not amazing.Would use this place again!!

Staff are rude they have facecial expresstions like that it is fashionable not to smil not very helpful you have to repeat evrything not sure if its a hearing problem or language barrier

Ocasionalmente es rápido, pero la mayoría de veces es una pesadilla, y todas, sin personal. La comida es una basura, pero parece ser que la sociedad vegetariana respaldar algunos de sus grasas de alta, barato, opciones de microondas que no lo procesados sirven para mi perro, ahora que lo pienso, no me tiro a las ratas. Como visitantes regulares de pubs me siento razonablemente bien calificado para medir el nivel de este establecimiento y proporcionar una equilibrada revisión wetherspoon.Reconozco que nuestra visita fue sólo para bebidas en una tarde fría de invierno y no probamos la comida, pero me pareció que estaba bastante acogedor Wetherspoon con un ambiente tranquilo y acogedor. Nunca juzgues un libro por su cubierta es el verdadero y diciendo este pub.El personal era servicial y agradable y, como siempre, los precios eran razonables. Fui hoy con trabajadores co para comer pescado y patatas fritas, hoy siendo un viernes, precioso pescado fresco en pasta crujiente, sabrosa, patatas fritas congeladas pero le dejamos ir, ya que estaban bien cocinados. Guisantes así como una pinta por £6. 75, ¿qué no? El servicio estaba bien, esperar 10 minutos en 1. 20:00 h.Qué gran relación calidad-precio.

Visited Nov5 from Cardiff. Taking grandson from Dalston for rare visit and lunch. I have emailed Wetherspoon' s Head Office to complain so won't go into great detail here. Food inedible.Staff indifferent.Special day with grandson ruined.Worst Wetherspoon experiences ever.

This pub is opposite work so I chose it for lunch with colleagues after a work meeting. I've been here a few times for drinks & food in the evenings too. We went on a Monday about 11.45-12.00 and the pub wasn't busy upstairs. The barmaid was lovely and we had a laugh with her. Some of us ordered 2 meals for £7 from the menu. I had the deli meal for £4.25 which was a salmon bagel with chips and a drink. We ate on the terrace and the sun was out and it was a really nice lunch. The barmaid encouraged us to put 2 tables together cos there were 5 of us. This is a great place to eat or hang out and have some drinks. This is a local pub for local people in the heart of Hackney and this is why I like it. If you're in Hackney and hungry then go here.

Very useful stop off to have morning coffee (free refills until 2pm) and catch up on emails between meetings. I didnt eat here but the breakfast seemed popualr. There is also an upstairs terrace which is a suprising bonus for such a place

We were staying at the Travelodge around the corner. We decided to have breakfast here and it was great. Breakfast for 5 people cost us under £20 and we really enjoyed it!

was in the area in business, really hungry, and got temped by Steak Club. Sirloin was cooked perfectly to my order, served with a nice amount of chips, and was a perfectly decent meal for what I paid.Also - service was quick, even though the pub was busy. I'd eat here again.

Took mother and father for a late breakfast, service ok but the food dispite a good range for me was sadly cold and dry, the breakfast looked as if it had been under a heat light for some time.Mothers was fine (soup) as was fathers large fry but the bacon was also dry.The pub was very cold we did move to a different table but it was still very chilly.I normally enjoy wetherspoons cheap and cheerful but today fell a little below par. No parking nearby but easy accessable by public transport.

Great atmosphere, full of shoppers and families. You can have a good burger, chips. salad and drink included for £5.59. We had family meal and also kids meals. Great value and also we ended up meal with kids ice creams for 99p.Idea pub when shopping or visiting Hackney Empire opposite.
