My golf group played at Cranham Golf Club yesterday and for the first time we tried out Jaxons for lunch after. We have played golf at many different locations and the Sunday Roast we had is right up there with one of the best lunches we have had after golf. Some of the group had Beef and some had Pork but both went down really well. The staff were very helpful and special thanks to the young lady who looked after us for most of the day. We will be returning next year.

Had the 3 course Sunday roast menu. Everything we ordered was lovely, especially the roast dinner. All very hot, filling and good quality produce. Waiting staff all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was fairly busy but tables not too close to each other which is nice. Will definitely go again. Good value we all thought.

Having completed a round of golf on the adjacent Cranham Golf Course this Tuesday, I and my playing partners popped round to Jaxons for a post-golf libation - being re-assured by the prominently displayed sign "We are open". However, when we attempted to enter, we found the door to be locked. But the rattling of the door handle did summon from within a young gentleman (I use the word very loosely), who - upon our enquiry as to whether the establishment was open - simply responded "Didn't you think the locked door was some sort of clue ?" Upon our response that we also took the "we are open" sign to be a clue, the chap snarled "nothing to do with me - take it up with the management" before slamming and relocking the door. And so over to Jaxons Management. The young man concerned, with his lack of personal charm being exceeded only by his surfeit of surly attitude, has convinced me and my playing partners NEVER to offer Jaxons our patronage at any future time. And for my own part, you may be assured that I shall actively spread the word about the appalling quality of service afforded to me on this occasion.

The entire service seems to be teenagers whilst more senior management hide away. We waited pretty much an hour for dessert - which l would have gladly skipped. Bill presented - no apology for outrageous wait for dessert - management not available. Worst Father’s Day lunch in memory

The venue is lovely but the organisation is poor. The venue is price per head and not a set amount but the food provided in no way met the amount it was intended for. The owner was very unclear in his explanations and when I received the final bill found a 10% gratuity had been included. It was for a funeral and all of this just added to the distress of the day.

If you enjoy Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and wish to be part of an episode Jaxon's at Cranham Golf Course is the place to visit. I attended Jaxon's as a guest at a private hire event where we were all due to have afternoon tea. From start to finish this place was an absolute disaster due to a highly incompetent and emotionally unstable chef/owner who was unable to understand basic dietary requirements. When questioned the chef literally snatched the food from another diner's hand who was happy to eat the dish as it did not impact their requirements. The cakes put out were clearly from a super market, which included a very poorly cut up Victoria Sponge and Mr Kipling cakes just thrown on to a plate. The scones looked like they were hand made, but were of extremely poor quality. When informed he was ruining the party his words were "I don't care....can you all just leave?" And this was just the start! He was then continously abusive to my friend who left her own party in tears. It's a shame because the venue is stunning and his waiters are lovely. If you would like to book a special event avoid this place!

This evening myself and 5 other family members and our 1 year old son went for Sunday dinner. When booking threw open table I stated 3 people where gluten free with one also being diary free and that we required one highchair. Shortly after I booked online I thought I’d call up & check they could accommodate gluten free & diary free, to which the gentleman I spoke to was very short and quite rude and said there’s always something. When we arrived we asked for the highchair, the lady said we have one booked on another table but that we could use it for the moment… so what if the other table came in they would take the high chair away from our son? We couldn’t see any other high chairs but lucky the people who had the highchair booked never came. Even though I stated 1 highchair when booking. The menu was not clearly labelled on what allergy’s each dish contained. The menu contradicted itself with the labels. We asked a young waiter, who had no idea when we questioned him to explain, he then needed to ask another member of staff who went into the kitchen to find out. After the starters the young waiter cleared the table and was flying all the spoons around flicking soup all down one of the guests eating with us and simple said ‘sorry mate’ whilst giving a funny look back. After ordering we was then told the gluten free & diary free roast dinner was basically meat and potatoes and carrots because the sausage in blankets, sprouts, cabbage, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding contained diary and gluten. They did offer gluten free Yorkshire’s for the 2 people who was just gluten free. There was 1 starter a tomato soup but no deserts on the menu until we started our mains and they came out and offered 2 gluten free cheeses cakes that had to be ordered then so they could be prepared. 1 main meal had a hair in it which I was unable to eat the whole meal as I had noticed it straight away, when the mains arrived the gravy’s was brought up. All mixed up trying to say some was gluten free some wasn’t but they couldn’t seem to work out which one was which. By this point we had made our minds up on jaxons. It was very disappointing. Having 3 people with gluten free and diary free allergy’s and stating this on the booking requests I would of thought it would of been explained and dealt with better. One of the members of the table has a severe celiac gluten allergy so we are really hoping for the best. jaxons clearly need to train their staff on the correct knowledge.

The pork loin was cooked to perfection. The staff and service generally was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for a cosy meal or a more formal

We were so looking forward to trying Jaxon's Sunday lunch but we were disappointed by the food. Your serving staff were faultless though. We both ordered brie and when we cut it open, both of ours were frozen. We asked for it to be cooked again and it was, however one of them was still partly cold inside so I just left it. Then the main course. That has got to be the most boring and bland roast dinner I've ever had. The chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips have not been seasoned, not even with salt or pepper. So so dry as well. The beef was ok but far more well done that it is advertised in photos. Also both of our Yorkshire puddings were burnt and black in parts. Ultimately it was not good enough for £25 for two courses however, we were not even charged £25 for two courses. The waitress informed us that our starter had been taken off since they were raw yet she'd sold it as £30 for two courses even though it is advertised in the menu as 25. So we were made to feel like we'd received a discount but actually they'd overcharged us. We realised immediately but quite frankly we just wanted to leave. Honestly I wouldn't bother going again, top meadow is down the road and the food is outstanding. There's a reason top meadow is always booked up. Get a new chef!

Booked back in March for August, paid a deposit for 14 people in the smaller room for private hire for a 60th birthday. Was told the minimum fee was £450 as per website. set menu at £35 and rest of the bill at the bar. This would be covered no problem. Never answered emails or calls throughout the time organising. Booked a Sunday meal in for April time before the actual event in August. Sunday roast was lovely but charged me £60 for two children smaller portions for ages 5 and 8. Took 6 weeks to refund the difference blaming younger staff because their maths wasn’t good to work out our bill. Even telling me her name and school blaming them for her maths skills as well as safeguarding issues. Took the kids menu off the Facebook page straight after my email as he doesn’t want to serve children. Makes up the price as they go along. In the weeks up to the event, organised a menu, constantly making fun and jokes of vegans and vegetarians food, asking them to graze on the field as they have no food for them, difficult with allergy’s. Night before event asked me for my pre order which was never mentioned before, which we sent over within a couple of hours. 3 people let us down with covid, bringing numbers down to 11. Which would still cover the bill with drink. We would pay the difference regardless. Organised cake balloons and photos for the 60th meal. Kevin cancelled on us at 3am on the day of the event leaving us to find a table for 11 elsewhere. Blaming there was not enough people, there will be more staff than us (why you need 11 staff I do not know). He said it’s not feasible for them to accommodate us, not even mentioning that we would cover the minimum fee anyway as per website. Kevin’s customer service is shocking, worst running of a business I’ve ever known. How the place is open still I do not know.
