Very Good Sunday Lunch. Exceptional ? No, but certainly hard to fault. It’s hard to “knock it out of the park” with a roast dinner, but this was definitely an 8 or 9 from 10. Perhaps the beef could have been a little more tender. Accompanying carrots, cabbage and roast potato’s were also very good. The carrots tasted excellent, even if they were slightly over cooked and lost any amount of ‘al dente’. Our server(forgot to get name), was excellent. Knew when to be around and responded to all requests professionally and promptly. My mother and I thought that the price was spot on for the quality and experience.

Been a patron of their Sunday roast deal twice now, 3 courses for £35ish can't beat the value on that! They did add a service charge at the end, but I think the quality of food and the value for money on the deal makes up for it.

We came here for a birthday celebration and I cannot commend the service enough. Gracie was amazing, recommended delicious courses and the team provided a complimentary round of prosecco and card for the celebrations. The food was lovely, but not necessarily anything I've not had better elsewhere, e.g. the steak was not outstanding as you would expect.

Lovely Easter Sunday spent at James Martin having the Sunday bottomless lunch which is good value for money - all the food is absolutely delicious and the staff are so helpful and Gracie the young lady that looked after us for the afternoon was professional friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent Sunday roast meal at James Martin. The beef was perfect. The potatoes are nice and crispy. The carrots was a favourite. Honey roasted or caramelised slightly, they were so tasty. Had the ox cheek croquettes and it was amazing. So rich. My partner had the baked goats cheese and said it could be a daily, it was that good. We both finished with the delicious sticky toffee pudding. All in all a well recommended roast experience. Well done 👍

This is the third time at James Martin and It was a little quiet on a Friday night but that didn’t affect the quality of food, flavours are just amazing cannot quite describe how amazing the steak is.

Food was phenomenal. Didn't like the waiter whatsoever. Came over with a bottle of rioja (I ordered) and said " sir this is the wine, would you like to try it" to my partner. Never looked at me or addressed me once. It's 2024.... like cmon. He did the same at other people's tables too .... just talked to them men? This just ruined my whole experience to be honest. I picked the resturant and the wine and I don't even get spoken too? Female waitress was lovely !

We had Prosecco Afternoon Tea (9 of us) and were looked after by Pavel absolutely brilliantly. 10 stars, amazing, he was so brilliant and attentive. Great guy.

My husband surprised me last night with a booking at the Manchester restaurant for my birthday! It was the five course tastings menu! Wow! The whole experience was fabulous. The food was exquisite paired brilliantly with the wine. Wow wow wow!! We've had many roasts and this was THE ONE!! The meat was so so tender and the vegetables was something else! Don't let the walk through the casino put you off. Excellent resturant with great food and friendly service

Great to vist for a special occasion. Food was very tasty but seriously lacking in content. Our waiter Ashton was brilliant, very helpful, knowledgeable, and made the perfect recommendations. Would I go again, possibly not, it didn't live up to expectations.

James, Martin is a place I’ve been going to for years. It is consistently one of the best restaurants in Manchester the food is original and divine. You probably won’t go wrong taking time out of your day to visit this restaurant.

Unfortunately we were disappointed, we have visited previously for a meal and it was excellent but afternoon tea was below our expectations. We should have spoken up at the time but not once did we get asked if we were enjoying our food or if everything was to our satisfaction, we are generally not ones to complain anyway as we are easily pleased. We had to wait 35 minutes for our food to arrive which usually wouldn't bother us but it is a strict 1.5 hour slot and by 4.30 people were being moved with their drinks to the bar below in the casino area.I saw one lady complaining and asking to finish their drinks at least but they were moved regardless. Maybe we expected too much from the food after our last experience and also as we are fans of James Martin. I have to say that the presentation was beautiful and everywhere was spotless. We were also greeted and taken to our table by a very friendly and smiley lady. The waiter explained our options and when the food came he told us what each item was The food just didn't seem particularly fresh as the finger sandwiches were drying out on top, as if very slightly toasted and the sandwich buns were very hard, I couldn't actually bite one of them at all. The salmon filling in the finger sandwich however was delicious. The banana creme brulee was very nice. The spiced walnut cake was extremely dry, as was the macaron. I also didn't eat my scone as it was sort of salty? It seemed as if it had been prepared too far in advance and left in a warm environment. We enjoyed the glass of champagne and also the Earl grey tea. As I say I really don't like to leave negative reviews if I haven't spoken up at the time, myself and my partner didn't say anything to each other until we left as we were hoping the other one felt differently, we just left feeling disappointed.

Absolutely beautiful and really reasonably priced.

Excellent food, exemplary service, in a post industrial setting, somewhat bizarrely located at the far end of a casino. A dining experience made memorable by a very personable table service team. Steer clear of the casino bar below/adjacent to the restaurant area and don't order wine from there, we sent the first bottle back and its replacement wasn't much better, not spoiled, just very poor quality.

UPDATE! 12/1/2024 Sadly I am having to write again. Several weeks after leaving the review below I was eventually contacted and asked to message them personally so they could speak with me about my experience. I did this two weeks ago and have heard absolutely nothing! Talk about rub salt in the wound!! Firstly a disappointing experience to be followed up by poor customer service regarding my review about poor service. Come on James Martin Manchester, sort yourselves out. I’m sure James himself would be appalled at the way you have dealt with this! Well James, after a fantastic night at your live show the night before, we were a little disappointed with the restaurant last night. Food was excellent 5/5! Service not so good. We’ve been there several times and last night was not the best. We had to ask to have plates taken away, ask for more water and drinks and felt we just weren’t being looked after as we have been in the past. It’s like we were in an average restaurant with average service but excellent food. This isn’t somewhere we can afford to go to all the time so when paying these prices we expect excellent service and be made to feel a bit special and we didn’t get that. They even completely ignored the fact it was my husbands birthday, despite being made aware of this quite clearly at the time of booking. Please get the service levels back to where they were, especially if you are going to charge £18 as a service charge for a table of two!!

Had a lovely meal here on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate two family birthdays. Superb food and excellent value for money, service was great, our waiter Fabio was pleasant and professional and looked after our every need. Well done JMM for a great all round experience-we will be back soon.

I decided to book a surprise meal for my Husbands 60th birthday as James is his favourite chef. We were not disappointed on visiting, the service was exceptional, the food was exquisite, we will definitely be visiting again. We arrived slightly early and were given vouchers for reduced price drinks at the bar. When we were seated at the restaurant, our waitress was extremely attentive, served the wine - topping us up when the drinks were getting low, gave complimentary bread. We decided to try food that we had never tasted, so opted for the Ox cheek and quail starters - they were both delicious and so flavoursome. For mains we had venison and ribs (not a new try) they both melted in your mouth when eating them. The beef dripping chips were the best I’ve ever tasted too. Would definitely recommend eating here!!!

My expectations for this meal we’re really high. We had to have the Christmas menu as we were 8. The cauliflower cheese starter was tasteless. Main course vegetables were underwhelming and the roast potatoes difficult to cut into. Sticky toffee pud inedible. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Being British we didn’t complain. So disappointed as I am a big James Martin fan and expected a much higher standard.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal . Service was great waiters were very attentive. We ordered Sirloin steak however order was mixed up and we had fillet instead .The waiter was very apologetic and offered to change it we were not bothered in the least . The restaurant was very busy and mistakes happen. When the bill came we were charged for the sirloin we had originally ordered. We had a superb meal and would most definitely go again next time we visit Manchester.

Fabio was an excellent server, extremely polite and attentive but in a non invasive manner - there but not there. Surprised us with a glass of bubbles to celebrate our anniversary which was a lovely touch. Food was beautiful. Decided to go with the festive menu and had the crab risotto, Turkey dinner and cheese board - sublime. They even swapped out the smelly blue cheese for a mature cheddar which was light and tasty. Overall a fantastic night! Well done everyone :-)

Visited James Martin quite a few times and always enjoyed the food so decided to book for Festive Afternoon Tea, sorry to say was rather underwhelmed, my local garden centre at half the price offer a far superior afternoon tea with bottomless tea and coffee, the bread on the sandwiches had gone dry, the little bread buns were difficult to eat, the gingerbread mince pie was dry without much flavour, mulled wine macaroon nothing special, egg nog choux bun was amazing, dark chocolate and clementine pot was lovely, Christmas pudding scone very nice, but not too generous on the brandy cream and raspberry jam. We were not asked if everything was OK otherwise would have given feedback. Would appreciate your comments.

We had the Festve menu. Having been a follower of James Martin for years I had high expectations of this experience and it didn’t disappoint. Every course had the perfect balance of flavours and the presentation was just lovely. It’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had and I hope he opens a restaurant in Scotland so that I don’t have to travel so far next time.

I am a huge fan of James Martin. I live in the USA so this trip was even more special as we celebrated with family we hadn't seen in a long time. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. The customer service was excellent, the food divine and the cocktails and the James Martin wine were phenomenal. I can't wait to come back again on my next trip back to the motherland! Fabulous.All the staff were lovely and welcoming. Great ambience.The food was amazing. Special thanks must go to Pavel our waiter for the evening who was very attentive.We went with his recommendation which was the Venison. It didnt disappoint it was delicious We were celebrating our daughter and son in laws wedding anniversary the complimentary glasses of bubbles and card were a very thoughtful and kind touch. We live in Lincolnshire and wish this restaurant was nearer as we would love to dine here frequently. However our daughter lives in Preston so we will be back.

We were at this restaurant tonight with our daughter and son in law celebrating their wedding anniversary. What an amazing place, great ambience, and the staff were so lovely. The food was amazing and the wine delicious. The complementary glasses of bubbles and the wedding anniversary card were a thoughtful and kind touch. Special thanks must go to Pavel who was our waiter for the evening he was very attentive and explained the choices available. We went with his recommendation which was the Venison it didn't disappoint it was fabulous. So thank you for an excellent evening one we will remember. Dined here for my husbands 60th and we were not disappointed. The Al-a-carte food was amazing, beautifully presented and tasted out of this world. The service we recieved was excellent, very polite and attentive without being over bearing. Not busy for a Thursday which was surprising but did not stop our enjoyment. Would highly recommend and will return.

Me and my wife took on a trip from Reykjavik to Manchester for 2 days for the sole purpose to dine at James Martin restaurant. We hand dinner there both evenings. Service: Service and food go hand in hand when it comes to dine out and the service we got from Fabio our waiter was equal to none. He was both friendly and professional and he gave us a wine tasting of several wines to make sure we selected the correct wines to our liking. Food: We had Thai Spiced Cornish Crab Risotto, Roast Quail, Steamed Lemon, Venison Loin, Hogget Rump/lamb and lastly Ribeye. Everything except the Ribeye was extremely tasty and beautifully decorated on the plates and would get our five-star rating. However, the Ribeye was a disappointment although it was tasty and tender. It looked like it was pan fried and it was presented on middle of big dry plate with nothing else at all. It was dry and not the juicy steak I was expecting. I dash of beef jus, carrots broccoli or something accompanied on the plate would have made this course a lot more attractive. It came with in separate dish a so-called Dripping chips that tasted like bake potatoes fries. Overall, this was great experience and highly recommended.

Prosseco afternoon tea gift. Lovely food, fantastic & friendly staff. Only letdown was weak & luke warm tea. But this did not spoil our experience & we enjoyed every mouthful. Prosseco was good & we don't normally like prosseco so well done to the wine buyers.

Visited for prosseco afternoon tea. Staff very efficient & welcoming. Special mention to our table waitress, Te, who was so friendly & efficient. Food was served & fully explained by the waiter. It was delicious. We do not normally enjoy prosseco but the one served was very nice. Hubby had a cappuccino & i a pot of tea, which was the only let down, weak & luke warm. Loose tea in a internal strainer. Perhaps use a traditional pot & external strainer to allow tea leaves to brew!!! Overall a lovely experience & will be returning

Fantastic service from Tee. his ws our second time visiting the restaurant. The food was amazing as per usual. We had starters of wild mushrooms on toast and crab risotto, they tasted amazing.. We went for the steak and wine deal. The steak was done perfectly. The only negative from me was the chips over faced ne. I am not a great lover of chips and they were served in a bowl (everything else was 'presented' ). We will be back to dine again.

We celebrated my partner's 70th Birthday and could not have asked for a better restaurant. I have spent 40 years in customer service so I have the experience to mention that Pavel Horkel excelled in customer service...no that is wrong, it was customer CARE...my partner and I were cared for by Pavel from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The food was exceptional. But thank you Pavel for a truly wonderful experience

Me and my husband went to see James live in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago. The show was exceptional just as our visit was to the restaurant in Manchester last night. The food, service and staff were top notch. The 1st time we visited was for the 10 year tasting menu. Last night we chose the food ourselves. The Porterhouse steak was absolutely delicious. We had the whiskey croissant and the milk chocolate bar for dessert and they were both amazing. Looking forward to our Afternoon Tea in March ‘24.

Probably the best steak we’ve ever eaten! We first came to you in 2014 and have been back for events and special occasions many times since - cannot fault the food nor service - James your team does you proud even when you’re not there! Went for the bottomless prosecco afternoon tea with my mum today. Staff were amazing attentive friendly and went above and beyond. Food was great such a lovely selection of sandwiches and sweet treats too many to eat but staff provided a box to take what was left home. Very attentive with the Prosecco had 2 bottles in an hour could have easily had more but my mum was drinking tea instead. Lovely evening spent with our family, food was excellent and staff were most courteous. Only 'downside' is the 12.5% service charge, which really racks up the bill.

We went for Afternoon Tea, booked via a third party. I couldn't believe the poor quality of the food. First of all, we were given a £10 bottle of supermarket grade prosecco. Not good. The chicken rolls were tough, with dry chicken and one limp piece of lettuce. The finger sandwiches were edible. The sticky toffee cream buns were also dry and tough, with a cold chewy disc of rubbery icing on top. Mini bakewell tarts were 99% pastry. No flavour. Lemon and Elderflower Macarons were nice, the lemon curd in the centre was tangy and the Elderflower came through nicely. There was a poor attempt at some type of Eton Mess, tasteless and poorly presented. The strawberries were mushy and watery. The scone was passable but, for the money we paid I would have expected something a little more interesting. The staff were lovely, and very accommodating, but overall the food was limp and bland.

Food was absolutely amazing, so many lovely options made it hard to decide. Really struggled to hear our waitress who spoke very quietly whilst looking downwards. We chose some wine from the list, she brought the wrong one and struggled to get it even after writing it down. She reached over the table rather than stand by the guest to put plates down. However, no fault with our food. A different waitress delivered our desserts who smiled & was friendly. I don't like 'complaining' about a staff member and I do think that perhaps she was new and hadn't built her confidence yet. With a little help & support I'm sure she will shine.

Loved the food. More expensive than your average restaurant (obviously!) but not extortionate. Average cost for 3 courses plus wine was £70 for 3 people. Great menu with mouth watering options - difficult to choose. Our only let down was service from waitress. Perhaps a new member of staff or trainee? Almost everything she said had to be repeated because she mumbled. She didn't really understand the menu. When ordering the Rioja, she responded "Oh, red" and brought back a bottle of Sangiovese. Her training needs improving. But otherwise a very enjoyable evening. Must go again to try other menu options!!

Due to travel issue we had to change the booking time at the last minute without issue. The food was excellent. The staff were superb, attentive and helpful. They made our visit an experience very enjoyable and an event to remember. We will be back...

What an amazing experience l. We came for afternoon tea and bottomless processco. The ladies 2l2ho locked sfter us where first class and the food was amazing cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you for an amazing experience

Fantastic Afternoon Tea with prosecco at James Martin. Everything was delicious and the staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and we will certainly book again.
