Jamaica Blue in Watford

We ordered food and drinks for 2 adults and 2 children (under 6) The baby chinos for the kids were slightly larger than a thimble and they charged 90p for the milk in each thimble of hot chocolate. Considering this wasn’t listed as an extra on the menu but they do state they cater for allergies we felt this was very underhand and pure exploitation

Top notch cooked breakfast in Watford. Could tell they servefresh veggies/fruits and food is made to order. Love their pancakes and fried eggs. Only downside is this cafe is always crowded and busy, hence it is noisy most of the time.

Terrible lunch here yesterday. Firstly, my wife ordered mango chutney on flatbread, which she always orders. When the food eventually came it was something completely different on flat bread with a load of peaches dumped on it. This did get corrected, but it still wasn't presented as on previous visits and nowhere near as good. I ordered scrambled eggs and quite honestly they were disgusting and the worst I have ever had in my life. Completely dry and the only way I could eat this was to dump a load of chilli jam on top. The bread was also so bland like basic Tesco’s bread. I did mention this the waitress who said ‘we have had complaints before about the eggs but head office have told us to make I them like this’. I think my 9 year old can make better eggs than this chef! Have been coming here since it opened however since the SA manager left , who ran a smooth operation and could also communicate with customers , this place is going down the pan with staff that don’t engage and dont seem to care . Wont ever be back.

The worst coffee and super expensive! I ordered a caramel frappe and they made me a milk shake, so awful, I went to give it back because it was so bitter the barista only added more syrup, just don't bother and walk a little bit more around to find a better place. I'll never return here.

Visited when quiet, croissant arrived ten minutes later the coffee. Overall very average, disappointed but think it’s new management

The chef Viki recommended the dish to us today and it was amazing, we got the Christmas special and it was fresh hot and delicious. Thank you to Chef viki and his team this is our second time here and we will definitely be coming again! A chef that actually cares about his customers is what we pay for! Good food and good friendly service 🙌🏼

I visited Jamaica Blue Cafe in Watford two days ago for coffee, but the air conditioner above my table made it uncomfortably cold, and the staff never checked if I needed anything. While the coffee was good, the poor service and lack of comfort left me disappointed.

Nice coffee, food looks good from what we saw

I do not recommend this place at all. We ordered two avocado mashes, priced at £9.90 each, and the avocado tasted far from fresh—almost as if it had been cooked or left out for ages. It was so bad that we had to go somewhere else to eat and get rid of the unpleasant taste it left in our mouths. Absolutely not worth the money—a complete waste.

I must say, great food. . The food was presented portioned and seasoned well.The Big Brekkie was well worth it.

Absolutely ridiculous overpriced rubbish. Iced coffee was £5.70 and didn’t have even a full shot of espresso in it and the syrup (salted caramel) didn’t taste of anything except sugar. Do not recommend

I ordered the breakfast at £13.???? Cold Snotty eggs, cold soggy hash brown's, cols soggy black pudding, cold toast , cold beans, cold tomatoes, there was also a mix up with my coffee which they did rectify after the 3rd person I spoke to and was criss by thus time.will never come here again.

The strong smell of smoke in this place every time I go it's unbelievably horrible. It's hard do breathe in this place they don't ventilate this place amd all the food bunt and cooking literally sits in the air making my hair amd clothes smell so I won't be going back. Shame coz is a nice place with potential big sitting area but the smell makes not enjoyable to sit and drink your tea while you get very strong smoke smell in your nose and throat.

First time here in Watford. System is lacking. I only wanted a coffee but was given a number and sat down. I had to wait while food was brought out. Tables weren't being cleared efficiently. Very lacklustre. Coffee was fine but won't be my first choice in future.

The restaurant is not cleaned properly, the floors are dirty and the tables sticky as well as the salt and pepper shakers having food on them The staff cleaned the tables with dirty cloths and did not clean other items like salt and pepper shakers or clean seats or sweep under the table Food and other service still good standard but the cleanliness of the restaurant is what needs improvement

I love this place but every now and then it's a complete let down. I usually get poached eggs on toast. 2 eggs. 2 toast is the usual. I got one piece today and was told it was because it was large. it wasn't large. the eggs barely covered each half of the slice. disappointing

Excellent staff warm good service

I’m not sure what happened but from initial experience when it first opened to my visit today - the service quality and speediness have massively declined. Staff all seem a bit clueless and need some guidance on customer service - requested some butter for a very dry bacon roll and got given one tiny packet so had to ask for more which then seemed like an inconvenience. The food and coffee we had during our visit was okay but for the wait I’d opt for somewhere else next time. A real shame that things have declined so much.

Never Again...Found this place really expensive for what we had.. We received our coffees but had a really long wait for was just for few bits of bacon in a roll. To put the hat on it,we were overcharged, but admittedly this was rectified.. Would not recommend

Disgraceful service shocking and appalling food. I ordered my breakfast waited over 30 minutes when the waiter (male) brought the plate which consisted of sausages , hash brown , beans, mushroom and toast. I informed him its not my order I am vegetarian and i don't eat sausages he said have it anyway. I declined and gave him the plate back I waited for another 15 minutes or so and I was horrified to see what they had dished in. Worst than dogs food this plate is definitely not worth £12!!!!!!!! Never ever stepping foot in this establishment

7 pounds for a bad cappuccino and a frozen pastry. A cup Of hot milk with a pinch of coffee and a pastry that has been cooked from frozen should cost 3 pounds not 7! The cappuccino was watery, too hot and with no coffee flavour. I always had the impression it was a trap for British people, and in fact it is. Stay away, insteqd go to caffe Italia in the high street where they serve illy caffé for a decent price.

Popped in for coffee which was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful, clean and relaxing atmosphere.

Very good. Pavan demonstrated excellent customer service by making my son another portion of food as the original was too spicy. No bother at all.

Service was quick, coffee is good, however £17 for breakfast & a coffee is crazy! Only 1 egg with the breakfast. David Lloyd is not cheap however you make them look affordable!

Used to be a regular customer when it opened. New owners and it had declined. The food standards are poor, price is ridiculous, staff are rude and the place is very dirty. I saw one of the owners having a go at a member of staff in front of the customers and felt very uncomfortable. I believe the old owners were very multiracial and employed son danatasyic members of staff from many countries, this has changed. I have seen many regular customers that no longer go there and the staff have changed and not as welcoming and friendly. Such a shame as the business was being run so well and very popular. Avoid at all costs

I was so excited to take my friend for the coffee here even she wasn’t sure. The person who served us was so moody and rude. We have been waiting a long time for our coffee and when it came order was wrong and it was cold. When i requested a hot one he didn’t even apologise. That is not what i will expecting and i will not be returning.

Not worth the hype , too pricey for what you get and it’s counter service and get your own glasses & cutlery I paid £17 and wasn’t worth it unfortunately

I always enjoy my lunch here. The food and especially the English breakfast tea is delicious! The staff are really efficient and friendly. Today I left my handbag behind by mistake and was so very grateful to the young lady (staff member) came running after me with my handbag! Wonderful honesty!!! Thank you so much! I can highly recommend them I would like to add that Niso is an excellent member of staff. She is efficient, professional and calm! Also always has a smile! The manageress Andrea is also a highly competent member of staff. Thank you!

Friendly atmosphere with welcoming staff and good amount of seating. JB has a wide range of foods and drinks from small snacks and cakes to larger meals and can cater for a wide range of dietary requirements. If you do have a special requirement just mention it when you order. When ordering you will get a number to take to your table so your order can be brought to you. Food is really good and sometimes it's hard to pick what to have. With some dishes you'll be asked how you want them cooked as well. It can be costly but the dishes are worth the money. Unfortunately the only negative I have to give is that there is no clear queuing system. You can sometimes see people queuing out of the door, when the que should go from the left (inside) towards the till. This needs to be sorted and a que entry sign would be useful. Overall this has definitely become my "go to" place when I need a coffee or break. I give it 5 stars overall for all the great points but do wish they'd sort out their ordering que so people know to que from inside and not all over the place.

Cappuccino was a little watery and wasn't too flavourful. Usual 'regular' sized coffee from most places is considered a medium here and beware that alternative milk is an additional charge of 90p.

A lovely place to eat and good atmosphere

Today I order a humble Caramel Latte in a takeaway cup as I work within the premises, but this has started to become a repeat occurrence for me to grace the this charming establishment. I’ve always been warmly welcomed by the baristas and keenly attended to should I require anything. Two standout plates that I recommend from here is the “Sausage and Egg Bagel” and the “Chicken Souvlaki” which had saved me from suffering hunger pangs in the rushed mornings. The staff are forever smiling and happy to take a moment to converse whilst keenly recommending items should I be stuck for choice. I’m more than happy to write them this review due to their outstanding customer service. The best Jamaica Blue I’ve visited from around the country.

No choice of breads . Sandy tasting spinach , not washed properly. The Pancakes looked nice and the coffee tasted good. Very small portions I ordered the vegan breakfast, Over priced. Staff were friendly and I was offered a free coffee , because of the sandy spinach.

Good coffee with full cream milk and excellent service. I knocked a star off because the smell of fried meat (for the burgers etc) was off putting, sometimes very strong and at other times not so much. Yes, I'm a vegetarian. In fact, on two occasions we were going in but the smell of burnt flesh put us off. We went to the new cafe at Tesco's on the lower high street. The almond croissant is very nice indeed, but so it should be at £3.50. They don't put prices on their pastries etc which is unusual (and annoying). If you have a Chase account then a £3.40 latte actually becomes £2.80 with round-up. I met two of the staff there who used to live in Benoni, South Africa. I ran a car dealership there, and they knew the person who I rented the showroom from (Max Civin). It's such a small world. Well worth visiting when in the Atria centre if you don't mind burnt meat smells that is :-)

Well run and very clean tables unlike many others.. Now a year later what a change, grubby glasses and extremely rude staff,what happened?

Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive and it did not appear. Staff had no idea what had happened as customers around us who came after us all got fed. The place is a disaster and no-one was in charge. Received a refund and left hungry and disappointed. The place is incapable of functioning when busy. Would not recommend this place and will not be going back!

Very disappointed with the breakfast. Prices are high and food quality is very mediocre. After pointing it out, the server said management has changed and they have asked to change how the food is prepared. 1 egg on avocado toast, no avocado, just light spread of guacamole. Really bad, try avoid at any cost.

I love the vibe at Jamaica Blue except for the lady who appears to be the manager or host. She creates a very unpleasant environment when she is in the restaurant. She is very selective about which customers she attends to. She's also quite loud, which makes it unpleasant having to hear her raising her voice all the time. Besides her, lovely coffee and lovely staff.

Used to go here every week - I am so disappointed with the new change of staff they are rude and the service is appalling!!!! I was trying to be served however a big group of staff were talking . When they finally stopped talking to serve me I was rudely interrupted by another member of staff how wanted to talk to the person serving me! Walked infront of me!!!! SOOOOO RUDE!!!!!! The Asian girl who was serving me couldn’t have been more un friendly . I’m so disappointed I won’t be returning.

Very expensive with poor quality food! We got sick after had big breakfast! When I saw the place from outside I thought this must be nice place but after try the food and the cold coffee and poor service I definitely not recommend this place at all.

Best aspect was the service, polite and professional. Although they did start to flip the chairs on top of vacant tables around guests which I assume is their general practice before closing down end of day, not ideal but probably not their fault. I ordered the Jamaica Blue mountain coffee, it was adequate, but not as amazing as the £9+/100g price for the beans would suggest. Was sitting on a broken chair which was a minor annoyance but subtracted from the experience. The toilets are clean and spacious. Worth a special mention!

Overroasted, burnt tasting coffee

Stopped to have coffee ☕ as I like the coffee they sell . Often have a slice of cake that usually comes on a plate with whipped cream on the side but this time decided on something more substantial and chose Nan bread filled with cheddar chutney and coriander it was absolutely delicious.I can't rate this place high enough every time coffee is hot not just warm as a lot of places seem to serve it and cakes are delicious. The nan I had yesterday was absolutely gorgeous so definitely somewhere I'd recommend I usually go there whenever I want coffee in the shopping centre 😁😁.

It was our first time visiting this cafe - Would 100% stay away from this place if you'd not like to be verbally abused by the staff members. Service was highly unprofessional and even had a waiter being held back from coming for us over the counter!

Gave me a latte calling it cappuccino and didn't have the courtesy to return the money when I returned their lousy drink. Toastie with cheese and mushroom was nice. Turkish egg was bad, avoidable. The lady serving there with purple hair was rude. A lesson on customer service 101 for staff won't hurt the management/owner.

I had the most enchanting time at Jamaica Blue Coffee Shop! The barista, a girl with specs, worked her magic, creating stunning coffee art in seconds. My latte was not only visually appealing but also deliciously perfect. The staff, including her, was incredibly friendly, creating a positive vibe throughout the cafe. I'm definitely going back and urge you to experience this magic too! ☕️✨

Since Bill's closed we've been looking for somewhere that does breakfast pancakes. Oh wow, this place does pancakes way better than Bill's ever did! Fabulous!

i went w my friends to study together and it was so nice!! the cafe itself is so cute and clean, and the staff were soo nice. however, i ordered an iced latte and it was not good at all. it tasted really bitter and watery?? apparently other coffee from there was really good- just not the iced latte. the blueberry pancakes were so good though

Went with my wife for lunch today, based on clean, bright interior and moderately interesting menu. We both ordered the Steak Stacked, with was almost inedible. The steak was grey and cold, the poached egg was rock hard and cold, the vegetables were tasteless and cold, the hollandaise was tasteless, the massive portion of cress was tasteless. The tomatoes were actually warm and tasty. Overall absolutely appalling. Service was adequate, but unprofessional. Won't go back but hope everything else is better or it is a waste of an attractive space

below average. We ordered one latte and one cappuccino, they were both insipid and weak. We spoke to one of the servers and explained the situation, they then charged us £2.80 extra for two espresso shots which should have been already in the coffee. Overall underwhelming and we won’t be returning, £9.60 for two coffees that were undrinkable before the extra shots and we couldn’t even finish is ridiculous.

We just had tea and cake but it is really nice in Jamaica Blue.

I Always eat here everytime I do a bit of shopping at the altria, the foods always nice the staff are always polite. Clean restaurant, tasty food and lovely staff.

This is a friendly establishment within Atria Watford. Perfect place to stop off for a coffee and a bite to eat when you need a break from shopping. Opted for a latte and pancakes with blueberries, bacon, and maple syrup, and it was delicious. The portion was generous and great value. This was my first visit to Jamaica Blue, but it won't be my last. Highly recommend!

Found this little gem in the shopping centre, really nice atmosphere and plenty of space for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Very clean and beautifully decorated inside. We had coffee with blueberries pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. The food came hot and presented well. The bacon was the best I have ever tasted and the pancakes were so light and fluffy. I actually shared it with my daughter as the pancakes were so filling. I highly recommend stopping by. They offer sandwiches/pastries. Hot food, cold drinks ect

First time coming here and I was super impressed! The staff at the till today (didn’t get any names but it was at around 1pm) are so welcoming and friendly and immediately made me feel comfortable The food & coffee are absolutely mouth watering stuff - I had the Greek pasta salad and a latté both of which were worth the price I found the atmosphere was cosy, calm & it was definitely a spacious shop which makes way for abit of privacy Will definitely be coming back and bringing a few friends :)

Last visit to Jamaica Blue Watford. We were there at 4.40 standing in the queue when a staff member asked us if we are getting a take away, she looking quite irritated to see us. Me and my little son were going to have a quick snack and drink. We were told ‘sorry you can’t sit, we are closed’ when they clearly had just decided that they couldn’t be bothered to serve anyone. This was after we were standing in the queue and reached the front. She talked to the person at the till in front of us saying we are closed right? Mind you, there was no sign of them closing otherwise we wouldn’t have bothered wasting our time. I was confused and politely said we will be quick and I thought you closed at 5, they said sorry we decide sometimes to close early. Is this the way to treat someone, a customer!? PATHETIC! If you can’t be bothered to work, just close the shop or atleast put a sign outside IF you decide to close early on a whim. I was looking forward to sitting with my son for ten minutes and he wanted to have a slice of cake. We were so disappointed. I will never visit them again on principle- they don’t deserve my hard earned money and custom. I will make sure I tell my friends about my experience. Disgraceful service and staff. They should be ashamed, behaving like this and turning people who have reached the end of the queue in the rude manner they did. Absolutely pathetic. Ps I have been there before and the service and food hasn’t been great. Very expensive for what it is also. If it wasn’t for my hungry son I probably wouldn’t have gone there anyway.

Two toasted ciabatta were awful. Some side salads added n the balsamic vinigar floated our food. Went to toilet no to toilet paper n In need of a deep clean Over priced and not clean at all. We left food n reported toilets.

Breakfast wasn't enjoyed scrambled eggs not sure on taste and visual sadly. Yummy cakes and nice coffee Waitress asked why left food but never came to update us again 😒
