Jamaica Blue in Renfrewshire

9 months since last visit. Excellent. Coffee lovely and cinnamon swirl with cream was beautiful. Friendly helpful staff. Nice relaxing atmosphere.

Love Jamaican coffee and this didn't disappoint ...lush BUT putting scones and pastries into a microwave made for soggy and really disappointing snacks. Would not recommend

Just disappointed and confused; that was how I felt having visited Jamaica Blue in Braehead this morning. I was on my way to Cafe Nero when I spotted this place and thought I would give it a try. I really wish I hadn't. They had an impressive looking selection of cakes and pastries as well as a food menu offering a variety of dishes. Not being too hungry I opted for a Flat White, Almond Croissant and a glass of tap water. The 1st alarm bell should have been being asked if I wanted a large or regular Flat White. In my experience, the Flat White comes in one size - slightly smaller than a regular coffee. It should be a double espresso, topped with hot milk. I was invited to take a table number to sit and wait for my coffee/croissant. The croissant arrived on a plate with a ramekin of whipped cream and a knife & fork. This should have been the 2nd alarm bell - an Almond Croissant should need no accompaniment. I picked it up, looking forward to biting into a flaky, delicious Almond Croissant only to discover it was roasting hot. Who the F*** heats an Almond Croissant?? The pastry was warm and moist, yet stiff to cut. The Almond paste filling was way too hot and destroyed by being heated up. The entire thing a horrific mess instead of what I was expecting. I never asked for, or expected it to be warm. I should have sent it back, but by the time I realised what they had done I had already touched it and felt it was too late to return. When it arrived, the "Flat White" was more like a Latte. Large in an oversized tea cup with tons of overly hot milk and the thinnest layer of crema/foam on top. If I am brutally honest it wasn't even that nice. The concept of a Flat White is a simple thing; double espresso, hot milk in a small serving, ideally at a drinkable temperature. What I was served was essentialy a Latte with milk so hot it not only burned my mouth but was hot enough to burn the coffee beans and leave a slightly unpleasant taste. It shouldn't be hard to serve up a decent coffee and cake, but somehow Jamaica Blue managed to balls it up. They have no idea what a Flat White is, no idea what temperature coffee should be served at (I obhorr this fascination with nuclear temperature coffee), and managed to totally destroy what should be a deliciously simple staple of any coffee shop - the Almond Croissant. It does not need heating, or whipped cream. It needs served fresh and crisp and flaky as it was made to be. Not bastardised in an oven/microwave in some desparte attempt to be trendy. Don't waste your time or money. Go to Cafe Nero, or Starbucks or even Costa and get something which hasn't been overly complicated. I didn't even finish my coffee and barley managed to finish the excuse for a Croissant. Don't bother wasting your time or money, you will be disappointed.

The food was good but the only struggle was to cut the food. We have ordered simple sourdough bread and a fried egg and our hand hurted while cutting the food. Definite need to change their cutlery. Everything else was good.

This is by far the best coffee in Glasgow the only thing that surpasses the coffee is the staff they are so nice and very helpful you don't wait long for service or their amazing food. By far my favourite coffee shop 2 coffees and 2 rolls for under £20

Popped in at the weekend for a coffee whilst shopping and genuinely one of the worst-run cafes I've ever been in. It took 15 minutes from ordering one coffee and one soft drink until it arrived, luke warm and slopped over the saucer. One member of staff said they were "short staffed" but there were at least 5 people on shift, it wasn't that busy - it was just being managed incredibly inefficiently. Exceptionally expensive, too. Heartily do not recommend.

Very slow service.waited over 40 minutes for a breakfast and a wrap. Teas were delivered quickly but were vold before food arrived.Had to ask to have table cleaned also.Would not recommend.

Been twice in quick succession because the food and service was 1st class. It is rare and refreshing to see back of house team members so engaged with the guest journey. Chef Ramsay is a credit to your company. The Souvlaki was delicious both times! Quality and consistency served by people who genuinely care is a recipe for success. Well done.

Was here on Sunday. Was serviced by a member of staff who said her name was Simi, who made the experience incredible! She was very helpful and was very cheerful and very lovely to talk to! 👍

Always come here with my mum for a wee lunch out as it reminds me of when I lived in Aus. The food is nice (especially the Turkish eggs or avo smash!). We were served by Steph who was kind and engaging. As a previous waitress myself I had to let her know before I left! 👏 I can’t speak on other staff but Steph was really nice it was noticeable, have her train people. Lost some stars on the fact that tables are left messy for such a long time after customers have left.. have previously seen the whole cafe with messy tables but only two tables being occupied so it’s not busy…can’t think of a time I have arrived at this cafe and not had to clear the table myself. If I am not cleaning it myself there is one guy that works there that is taking one singular dish away from a table at a time…needs a lesson on how to hold a few items and how to be efficient.. Thank you Steph for being so pleasant. Also please start doing your Chai Iced! Summer is coming 😍

Dreadful place and very expensive for the quality of food. Staff rude and untrained. Staff do not know the menu and are impolite. Nice setting albeit let down by the staffing. Will not be returning

Went to the cafe in Braehead and was made to feel really welcome by one of the girls serving who went out her way to help me. Rachel was extremely friendly, it’s so nice to receive service with a smile these days will definitely be returning.

I never write a review but had to for this one I came in got a seat ordered my food and food came in reasonable time. I had ordered big breakfast and 2 sausage roll and a bottle of diet irnbru the server wearing a red shirt and had her hair in a red bandana with her hair down served she brought over my all day breakfast and one sausage roll I said to her I have ordered 2 sausage rolls and she said to me I only have two hands which I found extremely Rude to say that to a customer when she came back with my second plate with sausage roll on it I said to her that was very rude of you saying u only have two hands. And she said it was a joke her facial expression and body language didn’t seem like a joke. I asked to speak with the manager she basically apologised to me for the staff and said she would go and check on the staff is the staff member is ok excuse me a minute what about the customer who’s just paid £19.30 for a meal and gets cheek from your staff. The manager actually spoke to the staff before even approaching me as the manger turned around and said to me that it was just a joke. Before I even mentioned it to her. I asked for butter for my toast and never got it. Youz need to train your staff to have manner and how to treat customers Won’t be visiting here again. Staff so disrespectful. Didn’t even come to apologise There were other customers as it was busy 1 customers had to ask twice for butter before she got it. Another customer ordered 2 teas and was charged for 2 tea and a coffee she never got a recipet they served her the coffee and two tea then the customer took it up to the till and they refunded her in cash. Just check ur receipts if uz ever go here won’t be me

Had bacon and poached eggs on sourdough toast, bacon was mostly a pile of fat, had to send back as it was undercooked, crisped bacon up a little them plate came back out, poached eggs were totally raw and spread everywhere on my plate, couldn’t eat it at all and had to leave it, was so bad, for nearly £10 it was awful, won’t return.

I love the food here. I'm having a cheese, spring onion & mango flatbread with a cappucino. Delicious!

Owner is an absolute idiot No care for any of his staff who are actually brilliant. Avoid this place like a plague.

Staff look like they were plucked from the line before the cathouse unders and their attitude was like they were at a playground. Doesn't seem like they had anyone over the age of 25 working there. Food was mediocre to awful. The big brekkie wasn't exactly big while teasing passable. Nan overcooked and chunchy while the cheese inside wasn't melted or warm by some miracle. Place is horribly over priced and it took over 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Wouldn't return rubbish overall. Would have given it zero stars if possible.

These guys make a cracking Latte. Highly recommend!... And for the Price it is compared to your corporate coffee shops.

Ordered pot of tea and poached egg on toast got my tea,Finished my tea then eventually the food arrived 20mins later eggs on the toast a side order of butter ?? Poached egg was almost boiled egg,Very disappointed I have yet to get a half decent service in this place I keep going back in hope of a miracle.

Poor experience today. Waited about 20 minutes maybe more for food, pancakes were undercooked and very doughy. Wild peppermint mocha was poor and the pecan carrot cake was awful

very nice place, Went for breakfast /brunch several times and its always brilliant. I had a problem once with and order and it was resolved quickly with a smile, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. would highly recommend .

Visited Jamaica blue this morning and was so disappointed with the service we went to the counter to order and were told to take a seat and girl would come take our order! This never happened sat for 20 minutes when the place was empty and not once did she come over then when we got up and left wee were told we should have come up and ordered doesn’t even make sense that is what we did in the first place !! Terrible customer service

Went right when they opened this morning because nothing else was open for breakfast. Glad we went! The chef was so nice and all four of our breakfasts were sooo good. I’m American so I’m quite picky about American style pancakes. And these were so good! Coffee was also great. Definitely will come back!

What happened? I used to enjoy the blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, but whatever microwaved stuff they've switched to is awful. They've gone from being a handspan in size to the size of a small coaster and they're not being made fresh anymore. When they came to our table I thought we'd got a kids plate by mistake. You used to see someone pouring them out to get cooked but all you see are microwaves in the kitchen. The pancakes I got were I'm positive just frozen premade and heated up to the point of being rubbery. If I wanted shop bought I'd make that at home. I'm really disappointed.

First time visiting today, loved it, the best coffee I’ve had in a long time, food was great and the ginger cake was to die for. Lovely helpful friendly staff. I will definitely be back

Arrived and was warmly greeted by a young woman who was addressing everyone as "lovely". My oat milk flat white was hot and tasty. Waited about 20mins for my eggs benedict, which were woell presented and a generous portion. Downside; food served on a cold plate and I'd almost finished my coffee because of the long wait. Should serve together perhaps. At £14 a bit pricey, but food was enjoyable.

After walking past this café a few times we had always wanted to give it a try as the interior is nicely decorated. The experience as a whole was rather disappointing. I felt staff were quite rude and abrupt and thus customer service could be improved upon. I had avocado on toast (£9.90) and I felt the portion was very small. 1 thin piece of toast with avocado and 1 poached egg which was pretty cold by the time it was served. My boyfriend had the chicken caesar salad and he enjoyed it. There was a good amount of chicken in the dish. I don't think the food is worth the price that the café charges. I felt the coffee was presented nicely, but tasted sickly sweet despite me not adding any sugar. The orange juice was good but not fresh as advertised. Sad to say that we will not be returning to Jamaica Blue, and that I wouldn't recommend it to others. I think that the menu needs revised, prices reviewed, and staff trained. I think there are much better options nearby for coffee / cake / brunch.

Dear god, the people working at the till really need to think about customer service, grumpy, miserable, face tripping them, they make you feel like your a total inconvenience coming in asking for a coffee, then half the food isn't available on the menu, pathetic really, don't bother going here

Brill would never go anywhere else for brunch , would recommend! Especially the short girl with frizzy hair ( makes a mean latte) xx

I’m not much to write reviews unless the place I’ve visited leaves a big impression and unfortunately Jamaican Blue left a sour one at that. I visited the cafe just when it opened with my mother and at that time it was a wonderful experience, the food was a bit pricey but it was worth the money thanks to the great hospitality and food. Though this time I had just visited to treat my dad for a birthday breakfast and upon entering the door, was greeted with an unfriendly, unmotivated staff member. We didn’t let this affect us just yet and we said we were going to be siting in, there were only a couple of other customers in the cafe (around 2 other tables) so it wasn’t busy. We’re a group of 5 people and he had explained that there was no table available for us. We were more than happy to sit at a table of four and bring a chair over but this apparently was too much of an issue for them and continued to be of no help or show and friendliness towards the problem. When we sat on our table and brought a chair over, he angrily walked over and told us we can’t be sitting there and proceeded to walk over to the very back table of the cafe and shoved empty boxes and cleaning products that were on the table onto the floor, very roughly. We asked him if he was in a bad mood and sarcastically remarked that he was not, ready to start an argument. At this point we didn’t feel welcome enough to stay to eat as he was very aggressive in his actions. It’s such a shame that one unfriendly staff can change your experience of the restaurant. Very disappointed.

Horrendously over priced. The coffee tasted burnt and the food came covered in seeds that weren’t on the menu and were inedible. I couldn’t get one bite without them. We left hungry and unhappy, wasn’t even worth returning

FORESTSIDE Unfortunately I can’t give NO stars….What a disappointment!! My daughters treated me to lunch, first time here for them, 2nd for me. Ordered the blueberry pancakes with bacon & syrup, with coffee. Coffee arrived and we were almost finished those when food arrived… at least 12 mins later. So I began with the huge pancakes which were drowned in syrup. Something wasn’t quite right, as I looked into the centre of them, they were gloopy & uncooked. I took it back & server didn’t say much, except I’ll get you a new one. So I waited… and waited… for almost 20 minutes. It arrived with 2 extra pancakes, less syrup (asked for it separate, got a jug as well as on the pancakes) tried them & again they were undercooked & gloopy. Very unhappy about this & didn’t see the point in complaining again. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all unless it’s just for coffee. (Sorry about the long winded rant!!)

I just paid £3.30 for a coffee, not the cheapest, waited, and it came in a Glass, after asking for a mug, a tiny cup and saucer was delivered and the saucer swilling in coffee, to be presented!!!!!! Na na give me the cheaper shops any time. Thats why greggs are the best. Never again

My third visit and probably my last for reasons explained at the end. Coffee shop is lovely and food is generally tasty and good. However, some of the customer service is awful, unfriendly and at times you feel you are an inconvenience. The lady with the multicoloured dyed hair should consider customer service training and understand service should come with a smile, not a scowl.

The atmosphere is inviting.. This is my second visit. First visit the corn fritters were more like soggy pancakes. So definitely a no star for it. I had their signature blend as a Mocha... for that I give 5 🌟. Second visit... the latte is lovely.. has a lovely punch to it. So 5 🌟 again for coffee. I tried their bread with cheese( i think edam or gouda), spinach, sundried tomato, pesto filling.. toasted served with roket. Not great. I give it 1🌟 . Food seems to be letting the place down... for vegitarians. I'll return for the coffee.. and will try some of their deserts.. The staff are casual & inviting.

Absolutely dreadful! The appetising description of the Big Brekkie is just a Big Lie! For £10.80 you get one limp sausage, an egg cup of beans, slither of black pudding, non toasted cold sourdough toast, one huge flat mushroom which is cold and swimming in grease, mushy hash brown, and two eggs sitting on the bread to heat it up! The bacon was two tiny slices of the fat ridden streaky variety, so basically just slices of fat! The place was ice cold as they had left the back door open. For £26 pounds for two it was absolute daylight robbery. Disgusting, tastelss and for the most part cold.....it should have never have left the kitchen!!! Disgraceful place...Would NEVER ever visit here again!!!!!! Avoid at all costs!

Clearly the reviews are written by staff or family members. Dreadful service! I asked for cutlery and I still don't know what the waiter mumbled at me. I was given a miniscule desert fork to cut my croissant and my mums pecan lattice and only one napkin between us. I know times are tough but surely you can run to a napkin each and 2 knives. Coffee tasted like bitter liquorice. I usually drink black coffee but I added the cream, synthetic whipped cream from the random unexpected pot that came with my pecan lattice to improve it. I was so keen to try this coffee shop but I won't be returning. Maybe if someone had smiled during service it would have made me feel more generous in my review.

Staff were friendly, spacious seating area and was quiet around 10am. Order at the counter for items to be delivered to your table. Had toasted Sourdough with poached eggs 🥚 butter came separately so had to move the eggs to butter the toast. Fairly pricey but convenient for anyone that fancies breakfast at that side of the centre.

Came across this on passing through braehead,, coffee is, top notch, great variety of food and not forgetting beautiful items for those with a sweet tooth, staff are so friendly, recommend this shop, will use this again, 🍰☕

Surprised to see only a handful of reviews for a place that deserves a lot of attention. Coffee is great and food quality is high unlike anything else around. Apparently customers here are served with what they deserve and more. Well done and I will be visiting again for sure.

A bit disorganised and not the most efficient

Third time being here and the food tastes great. Had a slight hiccup with my vegan brunch on my recent visit, but staff were really friendly and put things right in no time.

It is a good place with exquisite food and good customer service.
