Jai Kathmandu in Manchester

Very old, very dirty, dingey, the food was beyond disappointing, the waiters were friendly but the food is maybe the worst I've ever tried in any restaurant. Flavourless, old, low quality and the price is ridiculously high for this kind of quality. I went here as the reviews made it sound really nice but it was a total waste of money and I would highly recommend you avoid this place. I can't imagine this place has a hygiene rating of more than 1. There are much better Nepalese restaurants in the vicinity, don't waste your time or money. When we got there we saw a family leave with alot of food barely touched, I thought they weren't hungry but should've realised that was a bad sign that the food was awful.

We spontaneously decided to eat out at this restaurant and we didn't regret it! First class service from all the staff and brilliant food. The restaurant was quiet on a weekday but the traditional and nostalgic décor made it cosy to be in. We ordered traditional Nepalese dishes such as Momocha and Nepalese Mixed Grill, and Karachi gosht as recommended, Paratha, and drinks. The food was perfect; generous in portion, well spiced / seasoned, and delicious! They were all kept warm with their 'grill' on the table which made our dining experience even better! Reasonably priced too. We enjoyed the meal and we'll definitely return when we decided to eat out again. Highly recommended this restaurant!

Absolutely amazing food service was quick I ordered it ready for me to finish work and it was ready and waiting for me to pick up at the time I asked food was out of this world would highly recommend and the staff are amazing so would show pictures but it’s all gone now lol

Been coming to this restaurant for years, the service was the worst ever so slow over an hour waiting for the food to be brought to table, contemplated walking out but didn’t wish to offend them. only one guy behind bar one serving. Such a shame everyone was complaining won’t be rushing back…

Go here often and always great service and food, something slightly different being Katmandu from your usuall Indian Curries

Would have been 5 stars across the board except the restaurant was cold and stayed that way throughout the whole meal. Service and food were a very good standard.

Real authentic Nepalese and Indian food with loads of flavour and freshly cooked. It's a more traditional curry house and the staff were all lovely. No complaints 👍

Not been for a long time but got a take away last night - their Karahi Gosht which I was told is their best seller. Incredible taste and colour on it, will be back soon for more! I used to come here around 20 years ago with my Dad and his friends who had been going for years, always a great choice and a lot of history behind them.

One of my favourite Indian restaurants. Unfortunately until yesterday I haven't managed to visit for a few years, so I was worried things may have changed. Fortunately many of the staff were still there, and the quality of food, atmosphere and service were e all, as usual, excellent.

A family favourite which we’d always be happy to have an evening out at.

Outdated decor from pre-1990s, uncomfortable seating, cold temperature, Long wait, Small portions. Real shame as the food wasn't too bad.

We headed to Jai Kathmandu in search of authentic Nepalese or Indian food late evening on a Sunday around 8:30pm. Amazed by the food served here😊. Must try starters: Chicken chilly ,mushroom pakoda, momcha, seekh kabab. ( Finally had an authentic Indian style chicken chilly). We tried naan and chicken curry for main course ,which was also tasty but not as perfect as the starters .. We are definitely going to visit this place again soon! Lastly,the service was good and all waiters were really helpful !

What can I say other than the best takeaway we have ever had! It was easy to order, quickly prepared and thoroughly delicious & devoured. Not to mention the courtesy phone call saying they had made a mistake with the order and would add it to a future order - the honesty is rare! Highly recommend and we will definitely reorder!

Very slow service, arrived around 7.30pm , had poppadoms n dips and waited to be given menus. Had to ask for them in the end. It took a while for them to come back and take the order. We were a party of 9 but people that came in after us got all their meals after us....We ordered and waited again. Eventually our food was served some luke warm ,some hot. My curry was hot and tasty but the rice and naan were not as they came first. Would think twice about coming back as we came with a friend who loves the place.

Quite simply the best "curry" I've had The depth of flavour in these Nepalese dishes is fantastic, portions are great I always order too much, but it's so good it's impossible not to !! Staff are attentive & friendly, doing all they can to make your experience a great one Cannot praise them highly enough, top, top restaurant

Quick meal whilst staying in Airport Hotel.

It was our first time at the Restaurant. I be never tasted such delicious curries. Each dish had its own unique flavour. It was obvious everything was made from scratch. The service was excellent. We will definitely be going again.

Our family has been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years, but as of late we have been disappointed with the food. The meat has been tough and over heavy with the chilli, too hot! and lacking in flavour. I don't know if there's a new chef 🤔

Not been for the past 18 years.I was pleasantly surprised by the good food and friendly staff,Place was very busy on a Saturday evening and service was a little bit slow.Worth the wait as the dishes were delicious.The bill was also very reasonable.Sure to visit again.

My god, I ordered a sweet chicken tikka massala, what I got looked like a bhuna of somekind it blew me head off, and the naan breads that I did not order replaced the chapaati, not what i expected really with 4.5 star ratings.

Been coming here for over 20yrs and the food is always fantastic , freshly cooked , and authentic as many of their regulars are are discerning Asian customers , so it must be good . Lovely friendly family business , nothing too much trouble , very good wine selection at good prices ,Prosecco and NZ Sauvignon and even a really good Chablis ! Been coming here for years. Enjoy it, nice easy and local. Also get a takeaway often from here, since they reopened on the 4th of July we have had 3 takeaways - it’s the 14th July!

Always brilliant great food and great staff

I have been going for a few years now and I have to say it is my favourite place to go for a curry. I have tried the usual ones in Manchester that people rave about and this is still the best. The chilli chicken is a lovely starter and the curries are amazing. I would strongly recommend anyone to give it a try and they will not be dissapointed. Plus the old guy that serves is reason enough to go, absolute star.

I love this restaurant but worried if they have stopped doing take-aways during the virus lock down! Obviously can't eat in!

Food was only warm restraunt was freezing no heating

my family and extended family and friends have be going here for over 30 years and the food has always been amazing , obviously we have tried other restaurants but they just don't compare to the flavours and the fact that it is family run makes all the difference ,i feel like one of the family when i go in and the fact that i see so many familiar faces when I'm there shows me that many other people feel the same way .

Vi boede på hotel britania og efter en kort gåtur var vi fremme. I løbet af aftenen blev der stuvende fuldt. Den mad vi fik var supergod. Velkrydret uden at være for stærk. God Cobra øl. Ikke særlig dyrt.

Visité este restaurante anoche con mi familia (2 adultos, 2 niños). El restaurante se llenó bastante con los que comían y los que llevaban. El personal era increíblemente amable y servicial. Nada era demasiado problema. A mi hija menor no le gusta la comida picante, por lo que el personal le preparó un suave plato de pollo tandoori. Ella comentó: "¡Es el mejor pollo que he comido! ¡Es épico! ".Todas las comidas eran realmente deliciosas. ¡La salsa Makhan y el jingha tandoori eran para morirse! A menudo, los platos vegetarianos tienden a ser de último momento y están llenos de cebollas: el rogan josh de verduras tenía muchas verduras diferentes y era realmente encantador. Este lugar es local para mí y definitivamente volveré allí de nuevo! Muy recomendable.

Amassing food some of the best I have had

I love this place! The food is reliably excellent - we've been eating there and from there for many years now and have never had a meal that was less than amazing. It's a bit different from Indian food, being Nepalese, and I personally prefer it. The staff are friendly and obliging. It's always nice to sit in, though mostly we get takeaway. Delicious, fresh food. The restaurant is very popular and deservedly so.

Never had a bad meal here staff are so friendly and welcoming. I go regularly and love the food the atmosphere and the staff are always smiling and do everything they can to look after you. Couldn’t speak more highly of a place love it.

I have visited the restaurant many times however last night the food was the best I've ever had. The staff were well informed on each menu item. The food came quickly and was absolutely beautiful.

Paneer Shashlik is excellent. (tandoori cooked home made paneer skewer + peppers, onions, tomatoes)

Después de una recomendación de el lugar que estaban alojados en mi esposa y yo decidimos que sería probar este lugar.Tuvimos el asado poppadoms y una mezcla de pollo y pollo chili shashlik comenzó, todos fueron increíbles. La raita salsa menta era gruesa y sabrosa a sumergirse.Los platos principales y tuvimos una muy moghlai tikka que eran muy sabrosos y cremosos. También recomiendo el pan de ajo y keema curry house y salsa.100% recomendaría este lugar. Como dice el título, la comida increíble, un gran servicio y a un precio muy razonable. I se viniendo cuando estoy en Manchester.
