This place is amazing but be aware the prices have gone up a lot I won't be coming back so often now

First visit to Jade Palace wont be my last, food was excellent, great service everyone was polite, helpful and friendly, only thing it was a bit noisy but that happens when there are large groups.

me and friend was in the restaurant tonight the drinks was so flat then the food come out to fast and had no taste to any of it at all. all i had to eat was this food today i have come home to pains in my belly. never again also had to pay 10% Service charge

For an excellent Chinese buffet menu go here. I hadn't been before but my friend had & had told me how good it was - I was not disappointed. Inside has a lovely ambience & has plenty of seating but even on a weds it was busy so advise booking. Rather than the usual buffet where everything is already cooked & kept warm under lights, you choose dishes from options on the menu & they are cooked to order. I will definitely be going again.

Been quite a few times over the last few years and always had great food! The food was nice, the service was really poor. A glass was knocked over. When removing plates he waitress dropped food into a drink and didn’t even offer to replace it, just stood and watched as my friend fished a lump of lamb out of her coke. The service as very slow we waited ages for half a course to come out. Your lucky if any of the waitresses smile! The prices have gone up, which is understandable. But was shocked by the fixed 10% service charge and extortionate price of drinks. It near enough double the price of each of our meals… sad to say I won’t be returning

I love JP. I've been half a dozen times, always good food. I love the fact you can order what you want and have it cooked fresh.

If you like Chinese and you like a lot this is the place . You get the food delivered to your table from a menu and you get a choice of starters then mains and the duck is lovely. You pay one price for the food but drinks are extra . Would recommend for a night out for a group more choice on table

Arrived to what should have been a fun evening with friends, but ended in disappointment. The service was slow and dishes arrived without sauces and on asking for them was looked at as if we were an inconvenience. The food was nice although when you have to wait long enough for it anything tastes good. On asking for the bill it arrived with a £20.80 service charge, which we definitely didn’t want to pay. The “manager “ spoke to us saying how this sort of service is to be expected at busy times, even with several tables empty all night! He then told us if we returned and would not pay the compulsory charge he would have to show us the door. Needless to say he won’t have to as we won’t return.

Service was awful. Had to repeatedly ask for missed food, our wine, and just to be served with our next course. We were told that we couldn't order our main as kitchen on a Saturday night is closed at 9.30! Bill came up and because we refused to pay the service charge, we were told we could never come back. Surely by law, we aren't obliged to pay the service charge.

Absolutely awful service. We had to ask for missed dishes, our wine we'd ordered and were told at 9.30 that the kitchen was shut, so we couldn't order our main meal. Got the bill with service charge and when we refused to pay service charge, they said unless we paid it, we couldn't come back into the restaurant again. Needless to say, we won't be going back!!!

We have frequented this restaurant over the year and keep giving them a chance to see if attitude changes. To be honest i used to go here years ago when i lived in the area it was fun, cheery and great place. Moving back to the area its like they have decided rudeness, and being abrupt is the right way. Most dishes are nice but dont bother ordering a nice wine thats when ordering off the list becomes near on abusive. Try to give us a wine that was half price of the wine of the list- this is against trade descriptions act. We eat out alot and never experience this abruptness. We spend over £100 each visit not even a complimentary drink is offered. Other venues in the area always offer. Not even thank you see you again. So this was a last chance see if its another off night. To be honest think they had their day time for new owners, a refresh of the venue and a happy atmosphere.

Staff very friendly and food was lovely, we had a big group day before my friends wedding and they were so accommodating fitting us in and helping us with the set menus so everyone had something to eat they liked. Will be back thank you.

This is our favourite Chinese in Essex and have been coming here for over 20yrs. The all you can eat menu is brought out to you piping hot and so very tasty and the staff are very attentive and extremely friendly, we only wish we lived closer. Highly recommend.

They were very accommodating about making veggie dishes. It's a little pricey would like a standard menu for when you just want to eat a few dishes. But love the concept of all you can eat but order of menu.

The restaurant is very dark when entering, but your eyes do adjust after a while. Selection of vegetarian options is limited on the menu, but when asked, they were able to make more dishes, which was great. Food was a little salty for my liking, but may suit others.

Rather dark upon entering the restaurant but your eyes do adjust. Ate from buffet menu, was very tasty and plenty of it. Soft drinks are very expensive though.

Lovely food all you can eat for one price - pick what you want and have more if you like it! Make sure you have the water ready!

Food always spot on , just the drinks let this place down. Coke comes from 2L bottles not pump and are well expensive for a glass.

It’s a tiny bit dark inside jade palace (wickford) but apart from that the staff are so so lovely and making sure everything is okay. The food was to die for !! Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time !! I can’t stop thinking about how nice it was! I would definitely go back again… price is also very good too if you’re paying for the buffet !! Rip off , restaurant still have menus which are not inline with covid rules . Prices are in Chinese.. never received enough food .. very little meat .. a beef dish literally had 4 small pieces.. waited to long between courses .. £3.30 for a glass of flat coke .. and a large wine is actually a small

Walking into the restaurant, it's very dark but you soon get acclimatised. Initially given menus with no prices - ? We had to ask. The buffet menu. £25 pp. We had to ask for the alternative. Maybe that's just certain days. But. We then got what seemed to be the same menu but individually priced. Up to you. How much are you going to eat? There was some confusion regarding the 'Rainbow bean curd soup'. Still on the menu but apparently not available. I ordered the Beancurd with Chinese Vegetables, but specifically no carrots or baby corn (they're not chinese veg anyway, but you have to check!). It was great but there was no leafy chinese veg (choi sum etc) which was a shame, but still really tasty, and some chilli oil gave the boiled rice a kick. But obvs that's my personal choice Oh how I wish restaurants would offer wholegrain/red/green/black rice as an alternative to white rice!! Also the meat eaters loved their choices especially the black bean sauce. Lovely restaurant, lovely food. Maybe a little pricey.

Always love this place, food is piping hot and very tasty, Staff are always friendly and helpful, agreeing to alter dishes and meet customers needs. Cost is reasonable and the all you can eat menu is comprehensive!

I am very disappointed by my experience here, the food was greasy, the staff were extremely rude and got multiple things wrong on our visit and it’s far too over priced, I did not enjoy my visit at all

The food is all you can eat, cooked to order so always fresh, at a set price. Staff are always very efficient and polite, food is always delicious.

They just called me up accusing me for stealing food saying I ain’t paid for a order ( that I never placed ) I only phoned up to see if they do delivery and they didn’t so I went thank you anyway put the phone down and ordered from somewhere else saying he’s got cctv of me ect when I never placed a order with them

This restaurant discriminates against solo diners It offers an all you can eat buffet for two or more people and this us discrimination against a person who is on their own wishing to dine and I know this as I was the person refused service. It should be fined and admonished for this

The food was excellent, not as busy as I have seen previously which was nice as I felt like I could take my time a bit and enjoy the evening, my only criticism was that the staff were overly attentive, which then made me feel rushed instead of relaxed 😂 One waitress asks if we need anything or are ready for next courses etc or drinks, and as soon as they walked away from the table another one came and asked the same thing. I wouldn't have mentioned it but it was literally less than 10 seconds between the 2 😂 A few more customers and that would probably not be an issue, I didn't let it spoil the night but it was a teeny bit frustrating 😂

Both 'All you can eat' and a la carte menu options are available. We opted for all you can eat, which is brought to your table. I booked ahead and a table was available immediately when we arrived. Duck and pancakes are also available as part of the all you can eat option. It was £19.99 per person plus a 10% service charge. Really nice food, good service, we will return soon.

Restrant it's self hasn't changed for years and could do with a make over but the food was plentiful and nice there is a 10 percent service charge but got the impression they still expected a tip seemed bit reluctant to bring the change back after paying the bill

Food is fantastic but drink prices are extortionate. Carafe of house wine cost £23 and it tasted just like a £3 bottle of low alcohol Hock or Liebfraumilch...so s over priced. Very dimly lit restaurant and owner comes across as rude at times but the food is fantastic and the eat as much as you like menu, where you choose your dishes are served to your table. £22 per person on Friday and Saturday +10% service.

Very rude and tried charging me more than it was worth not happy at all wouldn't reccomend terrible!

We booked a table for 11 here to celebrate a birthday. We have come many time for dinners but on this occasion they could not have done more to make us feel uncomfortable. We were split in to 2 tables and when we asked to sit closer together we were told no due to social distance, however we’re closer to 2 other tables in the restaurant than our own party. A scene was caused when we asked to be placed closer together and we even had one of the gentleman waiters shout at out table with regards to service charges also being compulsory. From this moment the service went down hill. We were then served as 2 separate tables so meals came out at different times. Starters were ok but nothing special, we had 1 vegetarian who was service a plate of beige starters which were not appealing and then when duck was served she was bought 4 lettuce wraps with no filling ever bought out, rice noodle bites were sent out but there tasted like soap, which the waiter then told us that this was correct. To the point where another member of the party tried as they were really trying to tell us that this was the normal taste. We asked for an additional plate or cucumber and onion to have with our duck which we received huffs before finally being given another dish (there was one small dish between 5). At this stage we left the table to use the bathroom where we were rudely pushed passed by another member of staff muttering under his breathe in Chinese which made us feel more uncomfortable as we were not sure of what was being said. Once we got back to the table we realised that the vegetarian option wasn’t going to come out from the kitchen and noticed our other table had their plates cleared and mains taken, it was more that 20 mins before a waiter came over to our table to what we expected was to take our main order however he quickly moved from our table and started clearing another table near us, we then caught the attention of a female waiter who we explained that we had an issue with the service and that out other table was being served and we were getting ignored. She also walked off and continued serving anyone that wasn’t us. Third time luck we thought and asked another waitress to come to our table. We explained about the service and that we were being ignored and still hadn’t been able to order mains, which at this point our other table were served their mains all dishes were covered in a red sauce and was hardly edible. She was passive aggressive and rude and didn’t care to apologise about anything we were trying to tell her. We advised that we didn’t want to continue with our dinner as we were so beyond uncomfortable. We were shouted at, made to feel uncomfortable even to the point where others could see how rudely the staff were treating us, the food was poor and even paying £3.30 for a multipack can of warm coke seem to be a push too far. No apology was given to us but one waitress did apologise to the remaining party. We ended up paying £10 each for our disappointing meal and will unfortunately not be going back there. When going out for a birthday celebratory dinner you expect great service and great food, this was nothing close to that, Looking back we should have gone to the chippy next door.

My niece booked here for a family celebration , because of covid retictions we had to be splut up which we understood, however we were treated as seperate parties.Firstly a note to the owners if you bother reading this service charges are optional you cannot force people to pay this. If you want to make more profit on your dishes increase your pricrs.The food was very poor, the sweet sour kunpo po and chicken in cashew nut were all the same dish soaked in a bright red sauce.The table was not cleabed between dishes and when we requested this it was treated with comtempt. The cost of the drinks were very high a can of coke ws £4,20 1 can!!! From a multi pack. One of our party is a vegi , she of course adked for a meat fee dish which when arrived tasted of wshing up liquid, it was sent back they told us it was meant to taste like this, however they did not bring back a repkacement..Its a shame that in wickford where we are limited to places where we can go out to eat this retrauntant feels its ok to try and take advantage of people by charging extortion prices for drinks and giving rude and poor service and food.

I used to like the jade as a restaurant but I’d have to agree with all the bad reviews, I’d never go back we spent over £160 just on the rubbish food and as for the drinks you have to pay for as soon as you get them but just so you know there illegal and warm and they buy in bulk you get them straight out the box & they are triple the price and on the back it clearly says ‘not to be sold separately’ like we’re idiots that cant read ! The food was gross all covered in red sauce and no one enjoyed the food!There staff are so rude and it was my birthday and they made me cry , they shouted at us and we were ignored! This is how terrible the food was, we were served soapy noodles and there excuse was o that’s bamboo ! It wasn’t ! We was not treated like paying customers , everyone left disappointed and will never return

Went for a friends birthday and can honestly say was the WORST customer service I’ve ever seen in my life. The rudest staff that actually shouted at us from the minute we sat down. Made us pay for drinks before we even had them. They heard us talking about 10% service charge and stormed over and shouted again. Although we were 2 tables of 6 treated us like we wasn’t even together serving one table first. Also paid £3.80 for a MULTIPACK can of coke which wasn’t even cold.Left after duck course and they had the cheek to say it was £15 when it was £21 for the whole menu. Also if you’re a vegetarian DO NOT even go there. They gave 3 pieces of lettuce and bean shoots were covered in washing up liquid. We had a table booked for a birthday, for a very special friend of ours.From the get go, service was awful. No welcoming atmosphere, it's almost like they didn't want to be there, let alone a paying guest.We were split up, which was fine due to covid.But, they didn't even attempt to get the food to each table as close in time as possible.Food was awful anyway. We would have waited it out if it wasn't below standards. Drinks were ridiculously overpriced, especially since they were warm and weren't supposed to be sold seperately. They're cutting costs but not delivering great service or food.We gave up in the end. It was obvious we weren't going to enjoy the main after the disaster of starters.Jade Palace need some serious customer service training and the chef needs, at the very least, basic cooking lessons.We each paid a deposit of £10 and management are refusing to refund.I understand why they take a deposit. However, given the diabolical service and food, surely it should refunded? We turned up but had to leave after the shambles that was supposed to be our meal. Lots of huffing and eye rolling from the waiting staff. They should cater to all and were nothing but judgemental against one of our group being a vegetarian. Is that good service? I work in hospitality myself and every aspect of last night, from arriving to leaving, was so below standards that I would never return.Sort it out Jade Palace!You used to be a firm favourite! Two people 60 pounds what a rip off food was nice but still was still expensive had 3 pints of coke come which was not out of pump it was from a bottle which was from tesco which was about 4 pound a pint and flat and warm and they put a 5 pound service charge which I thought was there job

NEVER SEEN A UGLY CHINESE!!! When we went in he said they were closing we went in at 8 he didn’t want us in got our food and the starters was raw we had to ask them to change 3 time’s and our mains was cold had to change that aswell really bad place there was 4 more people in there same time as us and they were complaining aswell then he over priced us I wouldn’t recommend it really bad service
