How is this a Chinese? Worst place I've ever eaten from

Food was very bland. our crispy shredded beef was overcooked & dry & the chicken balls were soggy. the only thing that was half tidy were the chips

Not sure who runs this place but they are definately not Chinese. From the front there is a group of British people running around. Doesnt give the vibe of Chinese food at all. Onto the food. Chips were white and anemic amd smallest portion i have seen it was like they was rushed out. Chicken balls portion was tiny and the batter was soggy and cold, curry sauce was tasteless, food arrived cold. Portions tiny also quite expensive. Wont eat here again.

Chewy meat and very bland tasting in general.

Our go to Chinese of choice. I can only think of one time when something went wrong but it was remedied without any fuss. Great food.

Jade Garden Chinese Takeaway absolutely shocking service this evening will never order from you again! Told our order would be 45 minutes after 1hr 15 minutes I rang to query how long it would be to be told that they have tried ringing me many times and knocked my door with no answer twice... when i challenged this because i have received no missed calls and i have not left my house. WOW!! I then get the manager shouting and swearing at me down the phone calling me a liar 🙈 Firstly if a chinese is at my door i am going to answer 🤣 secondly i am not a liar. If you want good service and an actual delivery that will arrive DO NOT order from here 😱🤦

After giving an honest review,on my last and final time @ this business, the owner stated that was the final time he was going to serve me,i take it he read my review,and didnt like the truth,i would give this place a wide berth

Order sweet and sour chicken but got curry sauce instead?? They have stopped doing Gluten Free chinese. Shame

Normally first class food but this time not good, king prawns were squishy,told owner but he says thats all he can get at present,supplier issues,well change suppliers and pay a little bit more

Bought a Singapore chow mein lunchtime but it was very salty and had no peppers and a poor amount of meat content and at well over £6 was pretty awful.

Well don't know what's happened to jade garden .the meal I had tonight was bland tasteless.i have had this meal many times and always enjoyed it. Won't be going there again.

Worst Chinese I've ever had. So mild and bland. Placed order arrived 20 min as told later to stand in a queue for another 25min. Staff were very rude, unfriendly and the blonde lady ever used the F word when I asked for pompdoms. The curry sauce was so bad and mild I put it in the bin. Waste of £25. Avoid at all costs. You'll feel better giving your money to the homeless.

Worst Chinese takeaway I've had, only went here due to reviews and lees kitchen in pontypool was closed. Horrific

Not our usual local takeaway, but their food was very nice, probably slightly healthier than where we would normally have gone, will probably try it again

What has happened to Jade Garden? Inedible takeaway meal for £32 gone into the bin! Where to start? - curry sauce like water, chow mein tasteless, chips white and squishy, hot and spicy soup lacking any spice and a nasty tang to the beef dish. Rang to complain and since, by the time we got home, served it out and managed to get back through on the phone ( less than 3/4 hour in total) I was told that there is nothing that can be done about it!!!! What a joke! Even better, I was offered £5 off next meal - NEVER again.

Used to be a regular But since chips are like mush Beef like scrag ends Rice re used I don't bother any more. Looks wok now Newport More delivery fee but we'll worth it

Have been a weekly regular for nearly 13 yrs now, and in the last 2 yrs the jade garden has gone rapidly down hill, the food it not as it used to be, and the staff are always changing, they also pick and choose what times there open, it states on there front door 10.30 close, ive been over at 9.00 and they have told me it's closed ive also rang at around 9.00 and they have told me they are shut, I visited today 7th June 2022 at 9.50 and was once again told it was closed, when I said that it states 10.30 on the door I was then told they actually close at 10, I said it wasn't 10 o'clock yet though, and was then told witj an attitude that they have ran out of stuff so they have closed. They pick and choose when they wanna be open and when they wanna close, why have a sign on the door saying u close at 10.30 if u are going to close when u feel like it, so once again I went to China Palace in Pontnewydd who yet again gave us lovely service and are always open when the jade garden let's us down. So from now on the jade garden will be a no go and I will be telling friends and family the same.

Have been using Jade Garden for years, we don't have take away often but usually go there when we do. I don't think we will be going again, unfortunately the latest meal was awful. Not only was I shocked by the price increases our order was incorrect and the food was cold. Tried to get through to complain but the lines were busy.

Really good Chinese not had a bad one in all fairness, and they do chip shop chips which is rare for a Chinese/Indian to do.

First time trying Jade's Garden and to be honest it will be the last. All the meat in every dish we ordered was so dry and tough. I had to chew it a lot so I could swallow the big dry chunks of it. The chicken balls looked like they were frozen and reheated?? As they were so dry and shrivelled. The house special rice definitely had frozen peas added, as the peas were crispy and hard shelled. Not soft and moist as peas should be/taste like. Food didn't have much flavour. Too top it off we didn't get our free prawn crackers with our meal either (as we spent over £10) will not buy from here again. Disappointing. 😕

It is a cross between a Chinese and a chip shop. We ordered Chinese. The meat was tough and unpleasant, wouldn't go again.

I've been going to Jade Garden for the past 21 years+ I have always found the quality of the food 'Excellent ' the staff are polite and helpful (ok you may get a newcomer that comes and goes) but 99.9% of the time are very good. The quantity you get is very good. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great Chinese I don't get through 70% of the time so order an Indian instead 🤣

Thought we would try this Chinese so ordered a takeaway …really wish we hadn’t.. The chow mien was bland and just full of strips of half cooked onions…supposed to be chicken…found about 5 tiny squares of chicken …no pieces of recognisable chicken to be found !, The curry was watery and tasteless …ribs very few and burnt more fat than meat …prawn dish could have been the saving grace but few prawns soaked in an awful tasting sauce… Rang to complain and was told to bring it back there and then …would not allow me to return it the next day for whatever reason?? Very rare we would throw a Chinese takeaway in the bin ….believe me my friends can eat but this food was vile !! Never again…ended up ordering an Indian … Don’t waste your money…Years ago I remember the food was lovely when the older Chinese couple ran it for years…Obviously changed hands but cannot cook edible food …Cheap ingredients, small portions , keep well away … Unbelievably BAD !!!!!

Chips mediocre chicken chow menu delicious so was the curry sauce and the king prawns but the beef in the black bean sauce was tough as leather rice good 😀

Rubbish.. no meat over 5 dishes.. more meat from one dish from any other takeaway. Complete ripoff..food ok but absolutely no meat.. three pieces of chicken in fried rice is not accetable and the other 4 dishes were the same... will go elsewhere next time.

went here becuase to try somewhere new, what a differance in food. The food is fantastic and the quality is perfect, will be getting food from here from now on.

Fab place to get a takeaway they also do Gluten free anything you ask for they can do an alternative in GF. Brilliant.

I visited recently on a recommendation from a family member. I found the place to be very clean and well kept. The staff were well presented, polite and friendly. The food was excellent and portion size was very good. I placed quite a large order which took less then 15 minutes to cook and was piping hot. I think this has just become my new favourite Chinese take away. I must mention that they do a range of non Chinese food too, jumbo sausages, sausage in batter etc.

As per usual the food was out of this world

I tried ringing to order food to either have delivered or collection but could not get an answer so presumed they were very busy.Instead I drive down & there was only one other customer! I know they do a lot of deliveries but someone could of answered the phone!We have been having Chinese takeaways from here for many years now the food is always pretty good.The staff are friendly & usually helpful although we had previously been told be staff the chicken in black pepper was gluten free when I ordered tonight & mentioned it being gf the member of staff informed me it was not gf at all & she went to check with the cook who came out & told me it wasn’t because it was made with oyster sauce he did however offer to make it without oyster sauce & said it wouldn’t taste the same. My husband who has coliacs disease decided to give it a go.He actually thought it was very good & tasted just as good as the original recipe.It is very bad for someone who suffers from Coliac to eat something which contains gluten & makes suffers very ill if they do it is not a fad, some people choose to not eat gluten but Coliacs have no choice it is or should been very important that staff are aware of the items on your menu which do not contain gluten.Coliacs disease is more common now as well as people choosing not to eat gluten so having a trusted takeaway or restaurant is going to be needed even more in the future and you will be surprised how many people will go out of their way to go to a venue which can offer this.As I say this is a good takeaway with a good hygiene rating friendly staff & im sure if you ask their advice they will be happy to help

I stopped using this chinese a few months ago as the amount of times we had blonde hair in the chips and the food started getting terrible. On friday I thought I would try the chinese again but I don't think I will be using this chinese again after I was missing the prawn crackers and the sweet and sour sauce had a very strong taste of garlic. I ordered 2 sweet and sour chicken balls, 2 chips and 1 prawn crackers at the total cost of £15.20 but on the menu price it should have came to £15 so could you tell me what the extra 20 pence is for?. When the food came from the kitchen the older women went to do my chips but she said there wasn't enough so she left my food on the side instead of placing it in the warmer but when another girl came from the kitchen she took over my order and when she knew we was waiting for chips she put my food in the warmer

We have returned to Jade Garden as the food has improved a lot. The chips are now lovely, and the chow mein is no longer too salty. We have had three meals from Jade Garden in the last Month and we have enjoyed all of them.

I had to drive from Risca just to find a Chinese restaurant that was above a hygiene rating of 4.

Me and my friend thought it would be nice to get a chinese lunch for a change. I parked outside and walked in, as I walked in, you could see that the Chinese was slightly busy and there were a few people sitting down. I was first in the queue and waited at the counter for about 5 to 10 minutes just to get served, the woman in the shop just disregarded me like I wasn't even there. Another guy that worked there saw me waiting and he served me instead. But the cheek of it is that when other customers walked in, she served them straight away, made me really angry since I've lived in the area all my life. There was no apology for the wait and didn't even say thank you when my order was ready. Very disappointing service and the food itself was just okay.

Hot&spicy chicken balls are the best ever

We order Chinese here regularly. The food is always delicious. It is our family chosen Chinese now, our go to. The curry sauce is very tasty, along with every other dish we have.

My husband just called in for chips and 2 pots of curry sauces , got home I unwrapped the chips a half dead fly flew out. I rang to tell them young girls shouted customer reckons a fly was in her chips. She came back to phone. I said " I don't reckon " there was a fly in the chips. She said I'll get my. Supervisor. A bloke came to phone. Said impossible it would of been dead , I told him I'm not after a free bag of chips and I'll report to evroment of health. . His response was to hang up. , great management material will never go here again. !

poor service, slow and incorrect. Food is only just about edible. if I couldn't cook better than this I certainly wouldn't open a take away. Reheated food, overcooked rice and chicken, not acceptable

Prices are ridiculous for small portion of food. 1 Cantonese style chicken won't even feed two people and very little sauce that don't cover the chicken. The food taste great, but almost every order has been wrong or very little amount of food for a strong price. Needs to be sorted as this Chinese was once the best around Torfaen.
