Honestly….worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Absolutely shocking food. Stop off for noodles regularly and the noodles are delicious but picked up a takeaway Chinese and it was absolutely awful. I can’t put into words how bad the crispy beef was I had to ask my husband what it was he’d ordered!

Excellent food. Really tasty. Beef in black bean was the stand out dish Accidentally selected pickup. Called and they delivered for me. Spot on. Great place.

Accept an order then decide its too far. Will not refund either. Staff hang up when you try to speak to them. Utterly rude and unprofessional

Forgot sweet & sour sauce , I couldn't have it as they were shut, they said I could have free chicken balls sent up next day (today,),,i dont want that after seeing & tasting😳 its awful , after coming off the phone when opening the food up found everything to be terrible, seaweed burnt , chips with black bits all over them shrivelled dry , kungpo chicken runny watery tasted like chilli water, veg raw, beef grey not cooked & veg hard raw, rice noodles had a strange taste as if cooked in washing up liquid 🤢, everything went in the bin😡 over £40 wasted , went to bed on empty stomachs, NEVER ordering from here again & judging by reviews Im not even bothering to try to get refund back it looks like it Will be too much head work🙄

Used them for years but won’t be using again. Don’t know if there are new staff but trying to order and actual staff members behaving like idiots making farmyard noises in the background and staff really rude in general. My neighbour had a problem with a staff member from here aswell turning up at his door over a tip. Food had gone downhill last time I ordered but I was starving and they deliver so I thought I would give them another try but won’t be ordering again. Food much better at other local Chineses like Oakfield too.

Food was bland and the older woman serving was either miserable or allergic to smiling, either way - not a great experience and I wouldn’t go back.

If I could rate a zero I would. Always have poor customer service skills here, I always go back because of the value. However, after my experience today I will never go there ever again. Absolutely shocking. I was also told that the Newport Chans is not the same company as Cwmbran anymore. To that I say good because I will be taking my custom there from now on, they are friendlier, nicer and the food is 10000% better than Cwmbran. Absolutely poor establishment and staff, I wouldn’t even bother wasting your money or time on the food or people.

I have ordered with Chans for years and never had an issue. In the last few months the delivery service has gone downhill taking much longer than the expected time with one order missing items. Tonight however, absolutely appalling service was received. Order placed directly via the website and confirmed at 18.54. At no point when ordering did it say that wait times were high. It said the order would be delivered in 45 minutes. I received an email to say there would be a 40 minute delay and the delivery time was now 20.18 - much longer than expected but I know so it’s not the end of the world. At 20.31 the food still had not arrived so I called the take away to be told that they were waiting for a driver to arrive. At 20.53 I called back to say it had now been 2 hours from the point of ordering and I wasn’t prepared to wait anymore. I wanted a refund. I was told the food had now left the take away and if I wanted a refund I had to reject it at the door and because I ordered through the website, they couldn’t issue a refund I had to contact OrderYoyo directly as they manage their site. I finally managed to get hold of someone in a WhatsApp message from OrderYoyo who said they would contact the restaurant to get authorisation for the refund. They came back and told me they couldn’t give a refund because the food was on its way!!!! I told them it was now well over 2 hours late and I didn’t want it. They again contacted the restaurant who refused to authorise a refund. I had to call them myself again and by now it is 21.17 and still the food hadn’t even been attempted to be delivered for me to reject it. When I spoke with the girl again (who had not apologised once for this ridiculous delay) she denied speaking to anyone at all from OrderYoyo and said no one had contacted them about authorising a refund at all!! I send this in a WhatsApp to OrderYoyo who contact them AGAIN and finally get authorisation for a refund. An absolutely ridiculous situation. As a family we now at this time of night have not eaten, need to order from elsewhere and won’t receive a refund for 3-5 days! I will never order from this place again. Use Golden Gate or Jade Garden in the future!

Worst food ever had from Chinese take away , waste of money

You would be best to have a look inside first??? I don't feel to good a bit longer on and my girlfriend was feeling like myself. It could of reacted with some of the tablets who know.

Food wasn’t fresh at all. The waitress seemed so unbothered and rude. The one in Cardiff is much better

I don't like to write something negative, but I feel the need to leave my review. My husband and I ordered rice noodles with chicken balls in batter and chicken with mushrooms. We asked beforehand about the sweet sauce. The woman who took the order did not tell us that this sauce is already included in the portion a large amount and we ordered extra. When we were given our order, we were impressed by the generous size of the dish, which was a plus. But since the dish included a large amount of sweet sauce, we overpaid for two more large containers of sauce that were not needed at all to use. (unfortunately, I didn't take a photo) I think people who are new to the establishment and who are not yet familiar with the menu should be warned about this. The noodles were tasteless, we had to take the salt ourselves and create at least some taste. The chicken was delicious. It is a pity that there are no napkins in the institution, because it was difficult to avoid skin contamination and I had to look for other options where you can clean your hands and the skin around the lips, which has become very yellow from the spices. I have nothing against turmeric, but napkins for such cases should be in the institution always. It was our first and last time in this place.

Bang chippy fast service lovely food

i wouldn’t of even given it 1 star, absolutely vile service. Rude obnoxious ladies in there, did not look like they even wanted to be there. Asked a simple question and had the response of an eye roll back and very rude and not helpful answers. Would not be going back there to waste my money

Ordered food on their app and paid for it. Order was accepted then cancelled with no explanation by an email stating the refund would take 3-5 working day. App deleted and will never order again.

Food would have been great but order was wrong, there is a reason why I asked for no nuts or nut oil only to be told we don't use any nut based products, I suffered a reaction to nuts only to find the meal I had ordered contained some sort of nut oil or product

Unless your prepared to wait at least 2 hours for delivery, dont bother ordering. Delivery due at 9.10pm, rang at 9.45pm to see how long, was told it was still in the kitchen. Rang again at 10.30pm and was told out for delivery and it wasnt her fault, well it wasnt mine either. Customer service was dreadfull! Finally turned up at 11.25pm. Definately wont be ordering from here again. Dont deserve any stars.

Most disturbingly dirty kitchen I’ve ever seen with them scooping chips out of a repurposed bin with grease covered boxes scattered around the kitchen waited 20m for our order for us to be told they “lost the ticket” food came back out with the most gross shredded chicken ever, not even exaggerating that it’s EXACTLY the same consistency as pork scratchings the place is run by the dole sponges finest workers DO NOT RECCOMEMD

The main dish was very tasty, and a generous portion. The side was a fritter and arrived very soggy and a small portion, so quite disappointing. (On the quality of the main dish alone, it would have been five stars.) There were tables for eating in, but the food is still packaged for takeaway. The only utensils were wooden knives, forks and spoons, and there were no napkins to wipe up the mess left by the person before me or for my own use. Service was functional and spartan. Overall, tasty main, disappointing side, and service and atmosphere could be dramatically improved.

These people don't even know how to read an order. Ordered 3 meals, got 2. Avoid unless you enjoy being ripped off.

Please avoid!! Staff at chans noodles think that it’s appropriate for random members of public to approach you in there restaurant with me and my 2 sisters eating are food a man came over started to pick my sisters food up eat it and put it back on her tray !! My sister was very distressed over the incident and the staff could not care any less SHAME ON YOU !!!!

Woman on the phone needs to be dismissed customer service gave me nightmares, plus when items are missing off the order you'd expect someone to answer the phone, I order from same company in Cardiff never had an issue, check your bags guys m, not trustworthy

Order failed to arrive. I’ve been charged by Uber and we didn’t get the food. Restaurant accepted our order and said it was out for delivery but closed. Didn’t answer any phone calls before their closing time.

Been going here for 20 years. Gave them numerous chances to sort themselves out with order after order after order. End of an era to be honest! Was the best Chinese for miles for a long time. Absolutely shocking food now, shocking customer service, shocking attitude, just as it has been the last 5 or 6 times. Binned the food, ordered Kok’s Wok - a million times better.

Very helpful staff with very fast service. The meal was hot, fresh and delicious. Would recommend to anyone.

I've only ordered box noodle meals, so I can't comment on other foods. I can't say I have ever had a bad experience here. Food is fast (self collection) and is usually ready in 10 mins. It is hot (temperature) and tasty. Staff are friendly and quick to serve up. There are a few tables inside if you want to eat in, but it is more café than restaurant. For me, it is just a quick and convenient takeaway with good food and reasonable prices.

Used to be amazing, and now, I can’t believe how bad it is. They’ve got my order wrong every single time on the last four orders I’ve made. I’ve been offered freebies, but to be honest, I just want to be able to eat the food I’ve ordered on the day I actually order it, is that too much to ask?! I had to really push for a new meal to be delivered today as I couldn’t eat what they’d brought. I basically had to argue on the phone to get it, because other people were “waiting for their food“, even though what I’d ordered hadn’t actually been delivered. Terrible customer service, not great food (even when they occasionally deliver what you asked for). On top of that, when they re delivered my food, it was still wrong 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Used to be the best Chinese around But last few months it's not been great. Not sure if the kitchen staff can read? But always something wrong lately, or missing. Only ordered 2 boxes of noodles tonight and even that was wrong. No sauce, asked for curry coconut, got nothing, just bland noodles. Definitely the last chance I'll give this former great take away

Awful, watery curry, chicken balls repeatedly reheated, noodles had a weird tang and salt and chilli chicken was tasteless. Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Threw it away and wont be returning also had to wait 90 minutes for delivery on a small order

The food was relatively lovely. The noodles especially were delicious, sadly the chilli chicken felt like I was eating scratching as it was quite over cooked, dry and way way way too crispy.. I threw most of it away. Curry sauce was tasty which helped the rice. It was lacking salt/flavour but overall was a nice meal I just wish I didn’t waste over £5 on the chilli chicken. I’d had it a while ago and it was delicious it’s a shame it couldn’t meet standards tonight. Consistency is hit and miss with this place but as it’s relatively cheap it’s not too bad for what you pay for.

The shet pleace where I work ever they don't change oil they Cook whit food out of date if you eat there you die stop eating form there.

Had take away tonight, my wife had spare ribs which were so over cooked they were shocking I had chicken curry with fried rice, curry was lovely rice again was well overcooked, they certainly need too up there game, very very poor.

Absolutely terrible. Please don’t waste your money. Ordered a take out via Just Eat yesterday. £41 worth of food and it arrived completely cold. Not the kind of cold that you can give it a blast in the microwave, but cold cold. Called the restaurant and the lady was completely unhelpful. She said they wouldn’t redeliver and we’d have to contact Just Eat for a refund. We did that and they offered £9. So no food and £32 out of pocket.

Absolutely shocking experience. As a family we have a Chinese most Fridays. On Christmas Eve we decided to try Chans for a change. As there was a 2 hour wait for delivery I ordered collection. When I arrived they could not find my order. After about 20 mins of searching, and being both questioned and accused of not ordering from them they found my order in the delivery pile. At that point it did go straight to the kitchen and was ready in about 10 mins. Tonight we decided to give them another try (recognising that it was Christmas eve previously and they were very very busy). Order was for £30. Food arrived swiftly, however we discovered the chips were missing from the order. Phoned straight away and was told they would send them immediately. 30 mins later we had finished the rest of the order and still had not received our chips. I phoned and asked them not to bother sending them as we had finished our meal, so there was no point. Was told they were on the way. Explained several times that I no longer wanted them as they were 30 mins after the initial delivery. Was told to just send them back with the driver. Asked to be refunded and was told that they were unable to refund any money (for a product that I had paid for but not received) as the owner was not there and was on holiday!!! Despite pushing this issue it was a point black no and tough! I was asked if I realised it was a Friday night and they were really busy!! They were extremely argumentative on the phone and could not give a damn!! Absolutely shocking customer service on both occasions. Will never order from them again!! And I were you I wouldn’t bother either!!

The actual noodles were nice, very hot and tasty, I had prawns, squid and muscles but it was swimming in oyster sauce, more like a rahmen. The reason I give this 2 starts is the extremely rude faul mouthed joung lady serving, no interest in helping or showing any customer service. After listening to her moan about the customers, her boyfriend and using bad language I decided to take the food and my 2 kids away and finish our meal at home. When I asked her where I could put my rubbish when we left she told me to take it outside as their bins were full.

Ordered crispy chilli pork from here, really nice and better than I expected. Ample portions too, I’ll be ordering from here again, well played chan’s!

I wouldn't recommend Chans to anyone!! They used to deliver their orders on time and today ordered some noodles. First of all, they delayed the order by an hour and now instead of two rice noodles one was delivered. Terrible service and totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! The lady on the phone who answered was also rude!

One star is to high, there should be an option of 0⭐️. Ordered food, arrived late. Driver lied that there was no contact details on the order, call taker at CHANs basically called me a liar on the phone. Checked my order and it had my name, phone number on it. So, the driver could not be bothered to call once it was delivered to the hotel. Food sat in reception for 1 hour. Hotel reception said the driver came in, place food on the counter and said he didn’t know who it was for. Food now ordered with another restaurant, delivered, hot food and friendly driver who phoned me to say my food was with him in the reception. Please avoid CHANS to avoid being let down.

We waited a while for our meal and their was a mistake with the food but rang back and nothing was a problem. Had a fresh one sent out straight away. Still and is my favourite place for food great service👌👌 thank you.

Rude staff, not the first time we have experienced this, even though when placing the order I mentioned I would be paying card to be then told they would prefer cash, to when collecting the order and paying card literally had the card machine handed to me and then they walked off no offer of a receipt or anything! very rude!!

Pre-ordered at 18:10 p.m. for a delivery at 19:45p.m through the Just Eat app, I specifically wanted the meal at this time as I have to take medication which I had added as an extra note on the order when I made it!! Had to telephone the restaurant (Chans Noodle Bar) at 20:00 p.m. to enquire about the delivery to be told my meal had not left the restaurant but in fact was waiting for a delivery person to collect. I asked for an explanation as I believed that over an hours notice was more than sufficient plus had receiveda notification from Just Eat that my order was on its way, was told they had received over 50 orders and been extremely busy and the Just Eat app notified the delivery etc automatically without actually knowing. I did receive an apology (sort of but with no actual meaning but when I queried why there had been no contact from the restaurant about a delay and that I had to chase there was no other explanation provided. Finally received a call at 20:11 p.m. to confirm the food was on the way but this is nearly 1/2 hour past the pre-requested delivery time. The order FINALLY ARRIVED at 20:20 p.m!! I can't say anything bad about the young lady who answered the phone as she was "trying" to help......however have serious questions over the management of orders!! I only rated the food a 3 because of the delay and having to eat a snack so I didn't fall ill my appetite had completely gone.

Used them for the first time tonight, and it was a good experience. The food was good, ready on time and the only Chinese I have found near Cwmbran where you can order on line so you are not spending endless time trying to phone through to place an order.

Just had food delivered from chans noodle bar cwmbran first of all food good ordered online price 13.90 delivery driver turns up informs us it's 16.90 15 pound ready have to give 20 pound note only to be told surprise surprise he has no change so 13.90 meal now costs 20.00 even duck Turpin wore a mask

Ordered last night and have to say really impressed. Hubby loves Chow Mein and finally we got one that was the right colour (ie NOT dark brown gloopy stuff) and tasted great. The salt and pepper chicken wings are to die for and chicken chop suey was lovely as well. Delivered early and piping hot. Can’t fault it. Will definitely use again. Best Chinese we’ve found in Cwmbran by far. Excellent 👍

TERRIBLE! It wouldn’t even be a one star. It come an hour and half late after ringing twice. It was cold and the price was very high for the quality.. chicken was very dry. I feel disappointed and robbed!!

Ordered through just eat. Called to add an item to my order and was told that I havnt placed an order with them and that it must be newport or cardiff store - not even sure these options would be on just eat for my area? Absolutely absurd. Checked the address and called back and a gentleman answered the phone and said the order has just come through. Lady initially had been quite abrupt and rude and seemed to just want to get me off the phone. No apology. Let's hope the food is better than the customer service

Wouldn't event bother. We ordered food before 5, had to wait 1hr 30 for our food. Called at 5 to 7 to ask where the food was and said it would be delivered next. It was sat in the store for 20 minutes before we received it. I called the store to tell them our food was cold which they questioned us and refused to believe they delivered cold food. Very argumentative, told us food would never be delivered piping hot and refused to solve until we said we will come back to the store to prove it (which goes against delivery). Took the food back to the store for further questioning and poor customer service. The woman on the desk said 'we will recook it this time' as if the food wasn't cold. Chans used to be a great Chinese, until it re branded itself as Chans Noodle Bar. Since then, the prices have been high, the food quality has been low and my experience when ordering through the likes of Uber Eats has been very poor. Delivery times are excessive, possibly because they use their own drivers rather than Uber Drivers. Also, many times after ordering, the restaurant has had to phone back to inform me items on my order are out of stock, adding even more time to the order and much inconvenience. They are also unable to cater for nut allergies, at all, even when phoning to ask what items are suitable. Nothing on the menu is guaranteed nut free. They can't even cancel an order from Uber; they give you a number to call which results in a lengthy wait on hold just to get a refund. I'm done with Chan's at this point. Will not recommend.

Okay so get ready for some old still service . Absolutely love the place because there's no hows you day hows your mum ect the lady just wants to serve you and get out. Perfect service and no queue. To be honest she doesn't even want to serve you she just points at things. This is what we need absolutely great food great value and no have a great day nonsense service. Didn't even want to give it 1 star, absolutely disgusting service, ordered curry and chips on a tray and was charged £9.00, repeated the order to the lady 3 times and then when questioned about the price was told that it was the correct price and that the prices have increased and the menu was no longer up to date and that the prices differ on apps and their own website etc, asked for a refund and was told couldn't do refunds on cards. Then when we asked for a receipt it said curry, rice and chips. When we said that the order was wrong, the lady then argued that, this was what we ordered. The order was repeated to the women over 5 times whilst ordering and when asking about the price in the first place, even showing her in their menu and she said the price had gone up etc. In the end gave a refund of £2. We then waited outside for our food whilst the 2 women inside talked about my wife and really upset her to the point she had to leave so not to cause a scene and say things she probably should of gone in and said to her. I can see from other reviews on here, that a lot of other people have had problems from "chans". Used to order from their alot as choice around Cwmbran isn't the best for deliveries, but in future think I'll just walk to oakfield Chinese and collect. Hopefully this place won't be around for long.

Honestly only order from there because of the lack of options previously they delivered my food to the wrong address after being adamant with me that I had received it, they have also messed up some of my previous orders and now have been rude on the phone with me because I apparently ordered my food for asap when I had actually ordered it for a specific time due to not being home it turned up far to early then when a woman from Chan's phoned me up despite reading out to her what time it sais my food was ordered for and the fact it said it was delayed by 25 minutes she suggested I was lying and snarkily said will I open the door food is not the best food and especially not worth the money when spoken to in a poor man or when the fault is on thir side

Ordered a takeaway last night, delivered very quickly despite GPS sending driver to the wrong place, lovley driver, was pipping hot, and one of the tastiest Chinese meals I've ever had, and I used to eat in Chinatown in London a lot.Couldn't have been better....
