China Palace in Torfaen

Quality isn't consistent. Years ago was great then went downhill. New owners started off well, food was so good I knew there was a new chef and gave praise but sadly the standards have slipped with cold food & chilli beef was on the turn. Requested a replacement as it was my fav dish & they said they'd charge delivery. Won't be ordering again simply don't know what will be delivered. I always order fairly early on quiet days so no excuse. I can think of cheaper ways to be disappointed.

Had a great Chinese from this place, phoned up and they answered promptly. Placing my order was very easy and the food was lovely, sweet and sour sauce was a little watery but still tastes good. Would order again from here.

Bland food no love going in with their food will not be using them again don’t waste your money bulked out with onion etc with the curry, quite poor all round ,50% in the bin / dog

Had 2 of our usual meals last night and were very disappointed. Both lacked flavour, quality and quantity. The sauces were very bland and watery and the prawns were small and tasteless 😞

I'll never go there again terrible food not cooked properly. Chips hard and cold. Save your money go elsewhere

Nice food but pretty small portions on the rice, chips, chicken balls & sauce... my 10 year old ate it all without even saying he was full, so they either need to charge less or make it a bigger portion

First time going here today and was pleasantly surprised. The woman serving was really nice and friendly, and the food was cooked quickly. The duck was really nice, better than my usual Chinese! Everything was hot and fresh. Will definitely be coming back again!

Portion sizes were great and it was ready in five minutes of ordering on a saturday, but the dishes we ordered were pretty flavourless. The sweet and sour sauce wasn’t sweet at all and weirdly has stained my husbands hand where the carton had leaked, still trying to scrub it off his hand the next day 😕

Awful service! Missing items from delivery, phoned them up and asked where my missing item was, they were very rude and tried to tell me I didn’t order it. Don’t get me started on the food, more dry than a piece of cardboard.

Not 1 to complain over a single bad experience but after 3 I have decided to avoid. Agreed to a 1 hr delivery wait, arrived after 2 hrs, cold & sloppy. I've ordered on opening and food arrived within minutes, cold & half portions, probably left overs. Chilli beef mostly carrots had to hunt for meat. Sweet sour sauce bland with silly amount of red dye that stains skin. Chop suey watery mostly bean sprouts. Below food safety temp standards. Unable to deal with demand and deliver consistent good quality food.

Best chinese in cwmbran, always on point

Had a Chinese from here last Tuesday for the first time in years as my regular Chinese was closed. It was THE BEST Chinese I've had in ages. Kung pow chicken had a stunning flavour to it. Chips, egg fried rice and chowmain were spot on. Not greasy at all. Boiling hot, quick delivery. 10/10. This is now our new regular!

Ordered food, said it would be delivered between an hour to an hour an 15 minutes. 2 an hours later food is still not here and no one is answering the phone. Disgusting service. Won't ever order from here again!!

Ordered and really pleased when we were told 30-45 minutes, after ringing they called back to say it was 5 minutes away, after another 15 minutes it came, most of it cold, chips hard and cold, mushroom foo yeung, smelt terrible and it was cold, the curry sauce was nice but luke warm and all in all really disappointed, binned most of it, when I rang they did offer to re cook it, so that is to there credit, the lady who took th pe order and those I spoke to were lovely and the delivery guy was apologetic, but before you ask I couldn’t have it recooked as it’s had been over 2 hours at this point and I had to go out, so couldn’t wait incase it was a long time. Really sad as haven’t used them for a long time and sadly won’t be again.

Best Chinese in Cwmbran by far. Honey chilli chicken, salt and pepper chicken, mixed meat chow mein and the salt and pepper chips are all personal favourites. Never had a bad meal from here and have ordered easily 50+ times

Shocked to see some of the reviews on here! I've ordered from most of the Chinese places in Cwmbran and this is by far the best one! It's always nice, fresh, good portions and tasty food. After trying most other places, this is now the only one I'll order from.

We orderd a chinese as we only live up the road. We did not want to collect so decided to have it ordered. So we rang to find out where it was after an hour and the lady could not find our order. Then hour and half later it had turned up. We did not accept the meal . Sorry to the driver as she was very polite and explained that she was the only driver on. Feel sorry for her. Shame on china place though.

Excellent service, lovely staff, speedy. Collected 2 lovely Beef Chow Meins and as usual, packed tight into a generous sized plastic container, like a giant housebrick when upturned onto my plate. Great flavour, plenty of beef, lovely sweet onions, nice noodles and beansprouts. Piping hot and cooked fresh to order. Never ever had any issues.

Long story short. Just had the most tasteless Chinese ever in my life and not 45 minutes later the wife is upstairs being sick throwing the lot back up. Need I say more.....avoid lime the plague.

Do not waste your money! A good few years ago this was a good takeaway, not anymore, absolutely tasteless Food, I’ve never tasted such swill. Has the chef ever heard of seasoning'! Really really bad. I can’t even give a 1 rating awful food.

Had many a great meal from China having two very picky ladies in the familiar this take away is a fantastic rest from cooking they both love the china menu 👍

Disgusting customer relationship!!! Do not appreciate having the phone put down on myself when explaining how it is not acceptable to charge people for food and not having received the food. Will never have our custom again!!!!

Never used this takeaway before and will not use it again. Food did not even remotely resemble Chinese food. Tasteless slop. It was delivered 45 minutes late and was Luke warm

really sorry to write this but this was the worst chinese I've ever tasted. rice stuck together. Cantonese chicken was just slop. chips were warmed up. just a awful meal and waste of money such a shame as we have ordered from here before and meals have been ok. delivery driver very polite though.

Friendly, helpful and fast service... But... Unfortunately the food was very disappointing! The egg fried rice tasted more like boiled rice, the onion rings didn't taste of onions at all and had a fishy taste and smell and had a rubbery texture! The cantonese chicken was very tasteless and was offputtingley red (it looked like blood) and the battered chicken in it was really soggy. My husband enjoyed his chicken curry but it was lacking in flavour from what we usually have. But on a more positive note there was a free portion of salt and pepper chicken which I enjoyed (and I normally find salt and pepper dishes too spicy for me). We won't be going there again but I wish them all the best 😁

Not for the first time they did not include a meal we ordered. Previously they said they would give us a free dish with our next order then surprise surprise they had no record of us complaining about a missed meal. This is the fourth time over about 10 orders this has happened. It spoils the meal for everyone. They really need to check all orders before leaving. Definitely will not be using them again, they have used up all their chances now!! Only the delivery man apologised for it, the staff taking the orders or the manager didn’t. Appalling customer service

Please do not order from here. First of all the order was totally wrong. However was really hungry so decided to eat.... shouldn’t have bothered absolutely disgusting.... asked for sweet and sour king prawns not battered..... they come battered in the sauce, the texture was like bread dipped in gravy and left to soak for a day, absolutely vile... noodles we asked for plain no veg guess what came with veg.....rang to complain they did not want to know not even an apology or offer of a refund or even to replace the bits of it that were wrong. They even tried to say that we ordered it wrong wtf? How can you order it wrong I read it from your menu you moron.....Really rude owners I would never contemplate ordering from there again even if I was starving and they were the last resort for food on earth..... the worst ever!

Don't normally get Chinese food from here but our normal Chinese was shut on a Tuesday.Ordering was simple and the lady on the phone was very friendly and in person.Simple meal ordered and China Palace did a great job with good chicken and nice rice.Would recommend.

A very good Chinese where the portions are very good and the food is very good. Its all cooked fresh and a friendly welcome is always at hand. The Chips also are really good as well as the portion, I use this Chinese On a Regular Basis

This was absolutely disgusting the chicken balls were full of greasy and tasted like rubber the rice was ok but how can you go wrong with rice the chips were obviously 'refried and we'll the chowmein tasted like crap

Order placed on Monday 28th May 2018 at 6.30pm....A 40 min wait we were told....Doorbell rang 23 mins later with piping hot food and extras....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and very curtious and helpful on phone. 👌😊

Now don't get me wrong, the China Palace food is dreadful, but in a town where they are all very poor it may still be the best.

Bad experience with the food - buying shop brought and cooking at home next time!

The food here is nice. We usually have chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls, been sprouts, rice, curry sauce and chips. The chow mein could a some more bean sprouts in it to make it a bit crunchier. Also the chicken balls have a bit to much batter on them for my liking, this can make the batter a bit soggy. Other than that I would recommend it but only if China China was closed, they r the best.

Nice food prepared quickly. Relatively healthy (for a Chinese takeaway). The chicken wasn't very high quality and veggie options are limited (no Beancurd dishes). Staff are friendly and the place has a good cleanliness rating.

Excellent food at a reasonable price will definitely eat from there again.

One star is too much. Took nearly an hour to deliver, one portion of food had leaked everywhere and the manageress told me to come to the Chinese to replace it. I drove there, had the food replaced after waiting inside for 15 minutes. Food had not been replaced just re heated, tasted like crap and I received nothing back and when I asked for some money back for compensation she gave me only my delivery money back. They don't care about customers just pumping out crap food and ensuring they get their money. Avoid at all costs.

I'm not vegetarian so this place is fantastic. I've only really had one Chinese takeaway that was better in my life. Excellent mains all round and a mean vermicelli. We frequent this place regularly.
