My wife and I called in to St Asaph to see the cathedral. I had seen some reviews for Jacob's Ladder' and found it quite by accident. We both enjoyed Welsh rarebit with ham, salad and home made pickle. A really good and substantial meal. It is one of the most friendly and welcoming eateries I have been in for a long time. The relaxed and caring atmosphere make it a place well worth recommending to others, and, more especially, a place to re-visit. A real gem. Many thanks.

We stopped by as a family of four adults and two children. The coffee shop is beautifully decorated with plenty of space between tables. We were seated in a separate room by a lovely friendly staff member who took our details. When she came to take our order she offered a mini hot chocolate for my son and also explained that he didn't have to have salad with his panini (he's nine and not a fan of green food) and they give a discount if you don't want salad. Food and drinks arrived promptly and freshly made. Wonderful friendly service, good light snack style food, beautiful surroundings and covid19 safe. Made my tweenager daughter happy because she was treated like a young lady.

Myself and other half had been visiting my friends home in Bangor for a few days and on way home we wanted to find somewhere for breakfast/ brunch in a small place . We turned off and came to this village and found this cafe . All covid precautions are taken apart from they didn’t wipe ketchup / brown sauce bottles when taking from one table to another . We wanted a full English breakfast but they had run out of sausage so my partner had a bacon and egg sandwich and I had bacon beans tomato and toast . The sandwich was made from what looked like home made bread so was rather messy to eat . Food was good however and the cappuccinos were good . Friendly owner and seemed to have a few regulars come in . We will definitely visit again on way home from my friends or sister next time we go .

Our fave little spot to top off whenever we visit north wales. Why? Well let me tell you - the friendly staff, the wonderful food, the great location, the nice locals - it's got it all. We love this location because they always deliver and never disappoint. Had a great coffee, I could drink buckets of the stuff, and a panini and my wife had a hot chocolate and panini, and they were both delish and home made. I had the New Mexican chilli panini and it was amazing - happily go back and have it again. Highly recommend this little gem.Incidentally, bought a coffee for the lovely old lady outside who took the time to say hello and let us know a bit about her family and the local area. She was there the last time we visited and always makes a fuss of our son

Friendly staff and very pleasant quaint surroundings make Jacobs Ladder a must for anyone wanting a quick bite to eat whilst passing through or visiting St Asaph. The food is good quality and my only criticism is that the menu is a bit limited. If they offered a range of salads and perhaps widened the choice of sandwiches and maybe included a special then it would be perfect!

Good variety of Fairtrade tea and coffee, and freshly prepared food (we - a group of 4 - had toasted bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon and jacket potatoes) Service was a bit slow, but that's what you would expect for freshly prepared food at a very busy time. Having survived the (arguably dreadful)Tweed Mill Outlet we were desperate for some sustenance. This place was a veritable oasis. The ladies inside were impeccably welcoming and most obliging when they understood our child's multiple food allergies, allowing us to give her our own food that we'd packed. The Rocky Roads were excellent and my coffee cake simply marvellous. As a coffee enthusiast, the beans were freshly ground with a burr grinder and the latte was wonderfully smooth. The toilets were more than adequate for such a small concern. A really peaceful genteel atmosphere.

Intended calling at Denbigh for a light snack on our return home from a week in N Wales with our two grandchildren. Nothing appealed so we stopped in St Asaphs and found Jacobs Ladder. This is what we found; cleared and cleaned tables, pleasant cheerful staff, overall cleanliness incl. toilets first class, quiet background 'classical' music, newspapers to read, prompt service, good food (excellent bacon in the butties), the cakes looked delicious but we had to be getting on our way. Six other customers arrived as we did, but this didn't put the staff out at all. We would have also liked to have had a look round the Cathedral.
