Despite what other comments say I thought the staff were really nice and attentive. I must say though, the food was terrible. I had the vegetable lasagna which seemed to be half a bag of frozen vegetables chucked into some acidic tinned tomatoes overlayed with claggy pasta sheets. It tasted horrible. I barely touched my food which was obvious, and told the server that I really didn't like it but was not offered a refund or replacement.

staff not taking orders fairly, took a customers order and there was 2 of us waiting and staff member said “just going to check on food” when there was 2 other members of staff running food, then went to order food when there is sign on the wall stating “food till 7:30pm”, asked if we could order and got told “probably not, no” no other warning just that comment and they walked away. poor service and attitude off staff, would be a lovely place if staff was better

I can't stress enough that the bar staff and the waiting staff were friendly, lovely and extremely apologetic however the food was horrendous. I would've given no stars for the food if that was an option. We was a big party of 15 and I already knew there was going to be issues when we wasn't asked for a pre order. You order at the bar so we went up one by one to order and pay for our food so we knew this would cause our meals to come out at different times. That is fine. Majority of us ordered the roast barm but most of them came out wrong. Two of them came out as full on roasts and their plates were massive, because the chefs read the check wrong, usually wouldn't be a problem but then everyone else was underwhelmed as their plates were considerably smaller. Especially the people who ordered normal roasts which are £2 more than the barms, their plates were much smaller also. All the other barms came out with roast potatoes when everyone asked for them to come with chips. When we asked to get them changed, the waiter returned with the original plates saying the kitchen told him to just give it to us and the chips will be out shortly. Again wouldn't usually be a problem but we ended up waiting nearly 15 minutes for the chips. One of last people to order, ordered a roast chicken and was then told they had run out. They had run out of roast chicken by 2pm. That shouldn't happen two hours into service. Especially as it wasn't overly busy. One person ordered a side of roast potatoes and they finally turned up after everyone finished their meal. I ordered the vegan curry but it turned up without the rest of what I ordered. The curry was horrible. The vegetables tasted off and sour and the sauce was watery thin. Not pleasant at all. I didn't ask for anything else or complain because I didn't want to wait forever for something else. My daughters food was the last to come out, usually a child's food comes out first. But they had clearly forgotten about it because we had to ask about it and it came out piping hot which meant she had ro wait longer to eat it. In total the first plate to arrive in our party to the last plate to arrive was a total of 40 minutes. I know we ordered separately but thag ridiculous. Plus the multiple mistakes and the child's food coming out last (and forgotten). We will return again for drinks, the area and the play area but not for food. I would not recommend eating there at all. Again the staff were lovely and apologetic to all of complaints and issues.

No atmosphere. The place is drab and lacking in warmth and colour. The food was really disappointing, the so called home made curry lacked a reasonable amount of chicken. The sauce was watery and had little flavour.. Not a patch on a Tesco ready meal .

Really disappointing as was taking my elderly grandmother out for her first meal in years. To start with, there were no hot drinks available and no regular coke. Sunday roasts we ordered came at different times. We were told the side that we’d ordered wasn’t available and the alternative arrived near the end of the meal. Meat was tough and chewy, “roast” potatoes (deep fried) were hard. Had to ask 3 times just for salt. We then weren’t allowed to order desserts as they weren’t taking any more food orders (at 3pm). Staff were apologetic and were doing their best but the whole place seemed chaotic. Really disappointing.

Visited for a meal with my family and unfortunately it wasn't the best experience compared to previous visits. We arrived around 5pm on Monday and it was considerably quieter than usual with only a few other customers on site. The menu online isn't the same as that on arrival and the choice is considerably less than expected. At the time of placing our food order, we were told by the bar staff that the pizzas we had hoped to order were only served during weekends and not available midweek (not made clear on the menu). The menu indicated that the childrens meals would include a desert, which unfortunately never arrived. After the meal had finished, we informed the bar staff and confirmed the desert choices (2x ice creams), they apologised and assured me they would be sent right out. 15/20 mins later and still no sign of the deserts and it was decided it was time to head home. As we were preparing to leave and inform the staff that the deserts were no longer required, we noticed a member of staff delivering a pizza to another table despite only being told less than an hour earlier that pizzas were not apart of the midweek menue?? The quality of the food was really good and everyone enjoyed their meal but the missing deserts and blatant lie regarding the menu options has put us off from returning again. 2 stars for service as the gentleman who actually delivered our meal was great, really kind and helpful but the 2 behind the bar really let it down.

Large garden out back. Not a great beer selection. No IPA. No ales in stock on the day we visited. Gin and tonic was served without lemon or any other fruit. Reasonable prices. Very dog friendly. A fairly pleasant play area for kids. Picnic bench was unsafe and wobbly. Outdoor bar shut on a hot August Saturday afternoon. Didn’t and wouldn’t try the food based on what I witnessed coming from the kitchen. Sorry folks, but lots of improvement required.

Like dogs? Like beer / wine? Like socialising? Like letting you dogs socialise? Jacksons boat is the place to go, especially on dry summer weekend days. They have a large beer garden with lots of tables laid out where you and your puppies can meet new friends. Most of the dogs are well trained and the owners of those that aren't soon get the hint to keep their problems out of reach of the kids who want to pet 'nice' dogs. Obviously it's hard to ignore a steak sandwich that isn't actually in the hands of a human and most dogs will try their luck, but so long as its not your dog or sandwich that sort of thing adds to the fun factor. Theres a small pay n diplay car park at the side of the pub and dogs are welcome all year round, inside and out. You can always park at Sale Water Park and walk over to the pub, which might help give your pup a bit of a sniff around before the fun and confussion of meeting so many new friends. On realy sunny days it can get very busy and waiting times for the bar and for food can be very long, but thats because it's very popular.

Tried to get food this evening and found the kitchen had closed half an hour before advertised. So, we thought we’d get some crisps to tide us over before we walked back into chorlton, only to be told they didn’t have ANY crisps in. At all. Drinks came in plastic cups - can understand that on a busy day with a rammed beer garden but there weren’t many others there and it just added to the feeling that they weren’t bothered about providing a good service…

Honestly a 1 star for the service was generous. Came here with my daughter and mother in law, we arrived just after opening and as I entered the play park l i lost my foot down a hole in the ground at the enterance literally as you walk in ,almost snapping my ankle and hurting my knee falling onto my left arm bare in mind I currently have a broken left elbow in 2 places and a fractured wrist and this arm was the arm the broke my fall so now I require a trip back to a&e as my wrist and fingers have swollen and I'm in extreme pain. I went inside to ask if I could have some sort of anti septic wipe for my.knee and tried to explain what had happened but had to wait for the bar tenders to finish of there conversation that hen continued as I was asking for a wipe to be told no they didn't have one they'd go find a baby wipe at this point they are both staring at me almost as to say why are you even telling us totally unbothered by the fact there's a maive hazard that's not even been sign posted. When I explained what happened I got no response at all just did you want a drink? I ordered a drink for us all and they didn't even offer to help me with them to the table just plonked them infront of me. I pointed out the hole and they acted like it was the first time they had seen this hole and just shrugged!! As i couldn't really leave until my knee settled down my mother in law went to order my daughter a pizza and was told she had to wait until 12pm to order and it was 11.58pm so they made her stand there for 2 minutes to say "we ain't serving pizza today " so instead she ordered chicken strips and chips which you would expect being the first order of the day it would be fresh but clearly my expectations where a little too high and there was a lovely hair on the plate too which I noticed after my daughter finished eating. The menu is well burger basic sandwhichs chips pizza couple.mirco meals save you the job of reading it Staff look like they are being held againts their will and make you feel like your custom is a hindrance to them seen more welcoming people in a Morgue to be honest. £7 for a j20 appletiser and a water I mean I could of honestly fell down the hole and entered the rhelms of hell so yeah i wont be returning to say the least, ill be too busy eating soup with a fork thankfully.

I ordered two roast dinners at Jackson’s boat on the 28/7/24 the chicken was like rubber, the mashed potato’s and veg were cold, sloppy, the pigs in blankets were deep fried and hard. I found a black hair in my meal. The food was vile,I felt cheated and very frustrated,I feel I wasted my time and money. I would never eat at this establishment. The staff and location were 5/5. They had lots of outdoor seating which was lovely when the sun was out. However, the food was 2/5. They didn't have any salads available and the burgers we ordered was advertised to have a brioche bun but came with a regular flour bap bun. The grilled chicken in the burgers were completely unseasoned, overcooked and dry with no sauce (not even sauce on the bun) so they were a jaw workout to eat. It seems like they have stock issues because when we asked for ketchup for our chips they didn't have any. A restaurant without ketchup?! Finally, (and the worst part) was the coleslaw had a thick black hair buried inside it which I only discovered after already eating some of it (see the photo). Overall, I'd come back for the location and to have a drink in the sun but I wouldn't recommend eating here.

There are no signs to tell you but you cannot order food at the outdoor bar so queued up for no reason. Then when I went inside as I was about to be served the server got told no more food orders to be taken, despite the fact the server next to me had the same instruction but continued to serve food. The outdoor area is good and spacious the kids play area is good too. Parking is free as long as you enter your reg when in the pub....but you dont know that until you enter the pub. Overall decent place but service is frustrating and there needs to be more relevant signage.

What I was quite perplexed by was that when the server came out to give me my food and I asked if they had any sauces I was met with a firm NO. I asked what they could offer and got the reply of, vinegar or tomato sauce. Not the go to choice tbh. Found out later on that they do have sauces but evidently the server just couldn't be bothered going checking. Poor service, can do better

Location, location, location. Until yesterday I has not frequented the pub for many years but As always, it remains a terrible pub in a really nice spot. The main bar had no hand pubs and 2 of the 4 largers were off leaving the choice of a stale pint of madri, the outside bar had a plethora of draught tap but non of them were on use. If you want to drink some chilled bottle beers I'd recommend you save a few quid and just hit the co-op on you was to the waterpark. The wait for food was 90 mins when they stopped taking orders, I can only imagine this was due to a lack of kitchen staff as the main bar only had 2 people serving and another 2 standing around with a qué out the door. The weather was lovely, childrens play are is clean and safe with food facilities for kids and dogs. If it's a nice day and you don't mind quing for a sub par pint or a bad cup of coffee then visit the Jackson boat.

When tried to order food, everything we wanted was not available, but there was no mention of this anywhere until after you have queued for ages. Absolutely horrible, run down and lack of facilities. Don’t bother coming here.

Great location but I think I must have caught them on a bad day. Saturday afternoon and they'd run out of cask beer, Guinness and Aspalls Cider. My eventual choice was served in a lipstick stained glass. Shame as it should be a riverside classic.

Went for lunch with 5 relatives on a Thursday afternoon. The pub was FREEZING cold. We foolishly stayed and ordered some food. The gammon was burned and cold (some achievement,) cheese and onion pie all pastry and the presentation of the curry was, to say the least, revolting. No brown sauce, only BBQ. But, yippee, the chips were warm. Well done chef, you can deep fry frozen chips. Shame but ill spend my hard earned pennies elsewhere in future.

I didn't really visit, I just cycled past. Was a bit let down the first time tbh as it's not actually a boat. But whenever I have gone there in the past I've always found it to be ship shape. Well worth crossing the river.

I booked for an after-funeral afternoon/evening reception. The manager and team were excellent on the day and really put in the effort to be welcoming, accommodating and make a sad day memorable for all the right reasons. Everyone said how perfect the venue was and we felt relaxed and well catered for and I was truly happy I'd picked JB despite some earlier doubts. The ONLY complaint (which I've made known to the manager), is that in the 2 weeks prior to the event, the communications in the way of texts, calls or emails were mostly slow and did cause concern and some anxiety whether the arrangement was reliable. But in the end, we got what was promised and more, and I'd not hesitate to recommend the venue for your event. I do appreciate new management had only just taken over plus ongoing renovations and other challenges but it's important to respond promptly to customers. Shaun, Melissa and crew were simply delightful. Everyone said it was a fantastic, quite perfect venue for our event and the delightful end to a day of celebrating a life. The cost was also reasonable. Despite the sad occasion, there were a lot of smiles and we were well fed, watered and comfortable. Very well done, team JB! You all deserve a raise!

Do not order online from them. 1:45 until you get food, phoning to be told you are rude to ask where your food is. They also keep updating just eat with delays so they don’t get penalties. Honestly th
