The table we sat at was grubby. As I have cancer we always take disposable wipes to ensure hygiene. A necessary item as the table hadn’t had a good wipe all day. Probably for a goodly while given the state of the small round container that housed the sugar. I was tempted to give it a clean - but didn’t wish to pick it up. Our food order came promptly and was like any other relatively fast food. Acceptable. The staff were friendly and polite and the apple juice very good. The cafe is obviously popular given that it was quite full - but Malmesbury itself has become over-touristy and is in dire need of a sweeping brush or ten. The price was acceptable for three people but next time we shall return to the Abbey cafe.

There are plenty of cafes to choose from in Malmesbury so I would give this one a miss. The coffee was completely weak and tasteless. I complained and was given another with two shots of coffee apparently but this was hardly an improvement - still not what I would call anything like a decent cup. The panini I ordered was small with insufficient filling. Nice toilets in the Town Hall though.

Had lunch here today. I had a tuna and cheese panini. It was nothing special and I'd hoped the cheese would have been melted and it wasn't. The panini was rather overpriced for what it was and the service was also rather slow and it didn't appear to be that busy 😞

Awful experience. The food was overpriced and mediocre. However, worse was the behaviour of the lady proprietor towards us, 2 Mums and their 3 children. If you have happy children who like talking to each other and enjoy laughing out loud occasionally, avoid this place. The lady proprietor, fueled by 2 customers, behaved rather bullyish towards us, clearly aggravated by our children's laughter. Unprofessional and unasked for. We always prefer supporting local businesses but we will not be back and cannot recommend this place.

Right in the middle of Malmesbury, this is a good location for a cafe. Inside the town hall next to an art gallery, small museum and information centre. Car park outside. It is in a good location right next door to the information centre. Unfortunately I felt I was ripped off.As I cannot tolerate caffeine I wanted de-caff coffee so I was charged an extra 40p for that. To add insult to injury my intolerance of cows milk cost me another 40p for soya milk. So my small latte.... very small.... cost me £2.80I cannot remember the last time I was charged extra for either of these items in a café.Jackdaws why are you discriminating against people with special dietary needs?Better places elsewhere in town.

If it is a cup of coffee you would like in a comfortable chair sitting in a window seat on a cold sunny day watching the world go by then you probably could not do better than when I did just this at Jackdaws. It is obviously a popular venue for this activity as most of the tables were occupied. There was one party of ladies who certainly appeared to be enjoying themselves. From their conversations it seemed that this was not the first time they had met here!My coffee was hot and good and complimented with a slice of fruit cake. This has always been a bit of an unfriendly and sterile place (the owner/manager is particularly grumpy) but on our last visit it had really gone down hill. The only food, other than cakes, they now serve is a few pre-prepared toasted sandwiches. On asking if they did children's sizes the rather unhelpful lady replied that they wouldn't as they were all made in advance (it had obviously never occurred to then to split one or simply make some smaller portions). We live in Malmesbury but this will be the last time we visit - the Summer Cafe round the corner couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.

The staff are friendly and kind and put up with a gaggle of women every Tuesday morning, all knitting and stitching - I'm one of them. Mums and babies are welcomed and NCT Mums get together. Not a good place to come if you have a child that wants to run round and squeal as there are trays of hot drinks being served to tables and quite a few older people having a peaceful sit down. Toilet facilities in the Town Hall are good.

Worst place in Malmesbury, how they are still in business is beyond me. They should be thankfully for every single customer, especially as there are cheaper, nicer places to go in the village. Signs like 'be nice or leave' and 'food and drink only bought here can be consumed on the premises' tells you a little about the highly rude, arrogant couple who run this place. I too have be told not to feed my 2 year a home made sandwich. They really treat you like dirt, why anyone gives this place the time of day is madness. Came here the other day after finishing a cycle ride with the club, the place was very busy inside and there weren't many chairs left to sit on, we quickly grabbed some chairs and sat down. There was a rather long queue which we had to join onto and then we gave our orders, I opted for a hot chocolate (which I must say was rather enjoyable) but the problem that I saw was with the service, when we gave our orders we were given a raffle ticket in return (NO not for a chance to win a prize) but our order number, this made it hard for when the waitress came round with the drinks, having to walk all other the place to find the correct person, I think an easier way to operate would have been to either, when a customer gives their order, to make it there and then or secondly have table numbers to make it easier on the poor waitress.Still an enjoyable and pleasant experience, although more seats are needed due to is high popularity...

Went in yesterday to be greeted so warmly and made to feel at home. I had a flat white coffee which was freshly made and really tasty. I also noted a beautiful smell which was essential oils and that got me asking more. I went out sniffing my arm then returned for another cup and to buy one or two oils. Unfortunately my husband came to pick me up from the car park and so I left without but took 2nd cup as a takeaway. I Don't suppose I will be passing any time soon . But if I did it would definitely be my coffee stop. I learned alot in a few minutes about these oils but I also felt so welcome and so relaxed during my visit. Thank you both such lovely people
