Jaal Indian Bar & Restuarant in Epping Forest

We visit this restaurant frequently. It is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area. We have never had a bad meal here as the food is always delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and always welcome us with a smile and enquire how we are. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed atmosphere, is nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.

Friends ordered in an Indian from here it’s a pity they didn’t talk to me first I stopped using this restaurant after being served food that was off. A family member had an even worse experience. They are not what they seem especially Farouk who panders to you then laughs behind your back. Advised my friends to use an alternative. The owner needs to look at his staff very carefully. Was shown to our table and given a menu.I was with my daughter and her husband. The waiter asked what drinks we would like , my daughter and her husband gave their order , he then looked at me and said what about the old one . We all found this very rude as I’m just 60 and don’t look 60 but clearly to him I must have . We found this very rude and told him so . He just laughed . Food was ok but no spice . Won’t be going back , purely because the waiters have no manners .

If you want to try, I lovely traditional tasty, Indian cuisine, try this restaurant, good stock bar, children, friendly service, very good food exquisite I’m a frequent ETA to Indian restaurants. This one particularly is very good. If you like England food the mix grill was very nice, not dry very moist and tasty comes with a naan bread recommend some vegetables on the side and maybe a rice to serve with someone my first time here won’t be my last from John Kenny 🥂👍

First time here since the change over of management. Whole meal felt rushed from asking if we want poppadoms to ordering our mains. Chicken korma was very runny and not creamy how it should be. Was SO dissapointed. My friend went to the toilet and the dessert menu was left, when the man returned and said you don't want dessert? Then taking the menu away - my friend said we hadn't looked could I see please ( as she had just come back from the toilet) to be then told we need the table now people are waiting in the bar area... Could you please leave... WOW was extremely embarressed and felt like we had to do the walk of shame after paying to leave the restaurant. When you go for a meal for a catch up with family or friends if there is a time limit you should be told. But an hour and a half is not an unreasonable amount of time. Maybe its because we don't drink alcohol nor fizzy drinks and just had water with our food. They couldn't make alot of money from our table. Will stick to my regular Indian in future after being humiliated never in my life have I ever been asked to leave.. Not as if we caused any trouble was just put for a catch up as don't see each other often. 😢 Might I add I noticed an empty table... Should have read reviews on this place before deciding to try here.... Can't even give 0 stars!!

I give this 5 out 5 not only for its food but also the service and the whole place third time we have eaten there last Friday took our daughter and son-in-law there both said it was one of the best meal they have had will be back again soon

So disappointing, it’s a weekend treat as not cheap but it must have changed management as my favourite crab and king prawn special is suddenly creamy ! Not before and didn’t enjoy unfortunately 😕

I have been a regular at Jaal for a long time and apart from a previous bad experience which resulted in me staying away for a few months it has been consistently good. I was asked by Farouk the manager on q previous visit to leave a good review on FB which I was happy to do, so it's only fair that I also leave this review. On Fathers day my partner and I went to Jaal and from the offset it wasn't great. It took a long time to be served and I noted that the waiter kept wiping his nose on his hand which was very off-putting, this happened a number of times and I really wanted to say something but it was really awkward. Staff were constantly shouting at each other which was making it an unpleasant atmosphere.Our starters arrived after about half an hour and were reasonable but not the usual standard. An hour after our starters we received our mains which were Chicken Tikka Pathia and Murgh Sizzler plus various sides. The Chicken in the Pathia was cold and rubbery and the Chicken in the Murgh Sizzler was basically still frozen. Very dangerous and very off putting. This was reported to Farouk who apologised and replaced the 2 main dishes within 5 minutes. They were still inedible. The Chicken was microwave fresh and tasted awful and rubbery. They were not eaten. All in all we ate some rice and some bread for our mains. Farouk tried to blame the supplier which is absolute rubbish, the supplier wasn't the one serving uncooked food. Our mains were removed from the bill which they should have been considering they were not eaten but we were still charged for the sides which were not much use without the mains. My partner and I both had upset stomachs the next day which I'm sure was a result of our visit to Jaal. Will not be giving any second chances this time around!

This is such a lovely place with friendly people and the food is very good and great price for quality. Been there now three times and never disappointed. Highly recommend.

Was there last night with friends first time for us but my friends had been before and recommended it and I was not disappointed.The service was first class as was the food lots of staff and all ready for chatting with us and having some laughs.Sad it was only a few tables taken but I believe there was a few takeaway going out . Hope now the virus is slowing down there business gets better but would recommend lots of different things on the menu as duck and fish .will be going back again soon

This place is amazing. Have visited it previously but went there on 10th November after my sons funeral. About 20 of us mainly young lads who were his friends. Service and food unbelievable especially as they were only given 20 minutes notice. Nothing was too much trouble and we certainly weren’t quiet!!!

ordered online, picked a time slot and it arrived 10 mins early! food was perfect, highly recommend!

Reserved a table online. They hadn’t checked their booking system so didn’t have our booking. We were not asked to sanitise our hands, no QR code or client info collected on entrance. Service slow. Food ok. Masks were worn by staff but incorrectly and not covering nose and mouth. We were the only people wearing masks to and from the table. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Always get our food from here, only had take aways since lock down but always great food. Had a few eat ins previously, no complaints from us.
