J J Fish Bar in Newport

Omg!!!The rice was ok,sweet and sour was ok the beef was horrendous,chewy,bland,chicken and cashew nuts was hideous,Hardly any chicken+great lumps of onion and not much else totally tasteless!After reading the review had high hopes but omg!!never again..

Outstanding food..tastiest Chinese I have eaten. I’m a vegetarian so sometimes I feel let down on choice when my hubby has a Chinese but tried the Mixed veg Singapore chow mein. So good even he wanted to help me eat it. The chicken curry and sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style he said was the best he’d had from a take a way. Will be returning very soon, would highly recommend this place. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Outstanding food!! I don't normally leave reviews but on this occasion I thought I would because I thought everyone should try these guys out!! Ordered a Chinese yesterday and I would have to say its the best Chinese I've ever had! Also being a chip shop the chips which came with the Chinese were amazing! 10/10!! Definitely will be going back again soon!!

Having lived all around newport it's fair to say I've probably tried every Chinese around. This is my go to place every time! Amazing value for money. Would happily pay for the food these guys serve! Always happy, friendly and polite.

I have visited this establishment several times and each time I have had a negative experience. The customer service here is appalling, particularly from the large woman with glasses that mainly works at the chip shop end. Whilst queuing outside to get in (as per the instructions for social distancing) and waiting my turn, this woman barked at me in an aggressive tone of voice saying; 'Excuse me, STAY OUTSIDE and wait!' despite the fact that's exactly what I was doing. I had made no attempt to enter, yet this vile woman saw fit to bark rude orders at me. Whilst serving, she made no effort to sound polite, smile or even employ a basic level of customer service. She was miserable and rude throughout every interaction I've had with her. I have frequently noticed this establishment skimping out on portion sizes, particularly if you order chips open instead of wrapped. The chips are frequently greasy and lukewarm and the drinks prices are nothing short of price gouging. The Chinese I've had there is also swimming in grease/oil and the egg fried rice has a really unnatural colour to it. I won't be visiting here again, a handful of times was enough. The rude service and substandard food is in no way worth the price. If you are looking for fish and chips in the village, might I suggest the new stand that is open in the parking lot of the roman baths. Their food is simply on another level compared to this place and the service is an order of magnitude better. I can't remember the last time I've had chips that good. So, if you actually posses a set of tastebuds, give that establishment a try. You won't regret it! Avoid JJ's fish bar at all costs. It's not worth it.

Singapore chicken chow mein tasted lovely chips were nice service was excellent really quick ..very welcoming and nice atmosphere would definitely come again

Visited the restaurant today and had Singapore noodles which were amazing!! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

My daughter and I bought a bag of chips to try and were glad we only got one. The portion was enough for two people.

Half of the counter is for Fish and Chips and the other half for Chinese food. We called on a Sunday so the dining room was closed though they let us use the toilets. These were clean and the dining area looked fine. As the dining room was closed the staff gave us extra empty dishes and plastic cutlery to use.

I eat here on a regular basis and the fish and chips in particular are fantastic. There's also a great selection of Chinese food that always keeps the family well fed! Can't fault it!

Traditional fish and chips and very nice Chinese food. My meal was very hot and had alot of flavour to it. I would definitely recommend this place.

Delicious food from Chinese and Chip shop. I received my food quickly and wasn't disappointed, Food was still hot when we got home. Great service and will definitely return !

Husband just picked up a pasty from this chip shop on his way home from golf, completely inedible, can't believe they even sold this!

Cold hard chips, soggy batter on the fish which indicates cool oil in the fryer which indicates they don't know how to run a fish and chip shop. Won't be returning which is a shame as it had been recommended to me.

Durante el almuerzo, es stock apilada con la gente, y la única razón por la que se me ocurre es su excelente servicio así como comida! Muy bonita zona con asientos dentro de un árbol de navidad en Navidad. Muy festivo, muy agradable, como wow. 10 / 10 a comer de nuevo.

Yo estaba muy sorprendido cuando me dieron esta casa de comida. Sé que compré esta comida en 10:00 por lo tanto, podrían haber sido merodeando por un tiempo. El pescado era absolutamente repugnante, era rock duro y no incluso el perro quería. Las patatas fritas eran tan grasienta que goteaba a través del papel y a mi ropa. En cuanto a la salsa curry estoy perdido para las palabras. Yo he estado en el área de South Wales ahora por varios meses y la comida ha sido absolutamente excepcional por todas partes he estado como la gente. Si quieres pescado y patatas fritas ir al bar de pescado en la calle frente al Toby Carvery chepstow. Este bar de pescado y Swerve ahórrate!
