New World Chinese Restaurant viii in Newport

The order was delivered over an hour earlier than booked which messed with our evening plans! The ribs were burnt with hardly any meat on them. The sweet and sour chicken balls were a bit soggy. Overall not impressed after being recommended by another member of my family!

Not the best tonight. Always order from you. Chips were awful. I mean how hard can it be to cook some fresh chips. Duck wasn’t good either. Over cooked and not as good as usual. Really disappointing!!

Meal was delivered really quickly, we have been looking for Gluten free Chinese food for a while now and this restaurant had a great gluten free menu. Will definitely be ordering again.

We've ordered a lot from this restaurant over the years and always had a decent experience. NYE we ordered food at 1900 due to be delivered between 1945 and 2015. Knowing it was NYE we waited until 2040 to call the restaurant and it took 28 attempts before they answered the phone and then 8 minutes to give me an answer and tell me it would be 20 more minutes. An hour later no food had arrived and now I couldnt get through despite 50 attempts to call. I went to bed at 2310 and still no food, despite the restaurant having said on the app that it had been delivered at 1950 which is clearly s way to bodge their business stats on just eat. I fully understand that it is NYE and it is busy but had someone been honest on the phone the one and only time I got through I would have cancelled. To then not be able to get through once after 50 attempts is insane. It's shame, and I doubt they care, but I will never order from here again

Ordered a home delivery via deliveroo at 6pm with the estimated arrival for half 6 8pm comes still no food can’t do anything through deliveroo as there is no option only option to call the restaurant- I attempted to call the restaurant over 20 times with one call being answered to tell me that the food was on the way and that they were busy - an hour later still nothing with again no answer when attempted to call the food finally arrived after 9pm and was stone cold and stale £40 wasted waiting over 3 hours for food is not acceptable with no explanation or communication with the restaurant is disgraceful I’ll never order from there again!

Do not order from here. Do not answer phones. When they do they say it's on its way, 3 hours later no food and no easy option for refund. Avoid

What a waste of time! NYE house full of guests. So disappointed! Ordered our food by 6pm to be delivered 7:45-8:15. 10:25pm... NOTHING HAS ARRIVED. Phoned multiple times......NO ANSWER. Left our number..... NO RETURN CALL. We will NEVER, EVER order from this sham of a company again. ORDER AT YOUR PERIL. SHAME ON THEM. EDIT. It arrived at 10:30pm. After we had finished our meal from a different restaurant.

I ended up going to collect the order as it was marked as delivered but we had no food! Not the restaurant’s fault at all and it was NYE. The staff were doing the best they could with a crazy amount of orders. I did have to wait a while but the food was hot, fresh and delicious as always. I understand the frustration and things could be improved but certainly not the staff’s fault.

ordered at 1900 with a delivery time of 2020. granted it was new years eve so I have them extra time. at 2120 I finally managed to get through after ringing 25 times and was told it would be 20 minutes. an hour later and still no food. I appreciate it's NYE and busy but 3 hours and still no food plus not answering any messages or calls in insane. tried to call a further 25 times with no answer.

Placed order at 5:45, food arrived at 8:45 cold and unwanted. Tried numerous times to call restaurant to get update, either no answer or line disconnected, same result when trying to call to cancel. Ordered through deliveroo and as the restaurant doesn't use deliveroo drivers only they're own drivers gave no option to cancel order without losing money only call the restaurants number that wasn't answered. Extremely bad food and service.

Absolutely freezing sakt and pepperbox was just a box of chips more like a kids chips no salt n pepper no ribs 3 chicken balls 3 wings 4 prawns and 7 chicken things that was so small couldnt tell what they was for 21.99 i was disappointed for a meal

I know it was a busy night, but it wouldn’t hurt to let people know there is going to be a delay. Over 2 hours we waited and when it did turn up there were no chips or prawn crackers. Considering I spent over £80 I was a little disappointed. Always use new world as the food is so good, but this order was disappointing to say the least.

Unrealistic delivery times. If the kitchen is struggling to keep up, don’t make delivery time promises that you can’t keep

Driver couldn’t find address said it wasn’t on Google maps and wasn’t from the area when trying to assist them with reference points like the train station so spoke to them 6 times in total sent text messages and what apps. Driver was very sorry but Food was cold when we got it so had to microwave it ( doesn’t work for chips) so was completely spoilt occasion with friends as each meal had to be warmed up so people eating at different times

Delivery out of there range but still went out of the way to deliver excellent food 45mins after ordering a1 guys

We ate in the restaurant recently. The only reason the atmosphere score is lowered is because we were the only people in the place. Seems like most people get delivery. Either way the food was lovely, the service was great, the girl serving us was really friendly and warm. Amazing vegetarian and vegan range! I would definitely go back.

Food was ok but the vegetable chow mein had about 3 vegetables in it. The salt and pepper dish wasn’t crispy at all and everything was an hour late.

Ordered XO sauce on aubergines and got black bean instead very disappointed

the curry was extremely oily, one full layer of oil was visible and the Singapore vermicelli was overdone, had a burned taste .

Their delivery drivers are useless and don’t even ask a name when they deliver! Just drop It off wherever they want and is easy for them. A waste of money.

Terrible trick these take aways seem to do is update the status to “delivered” to hit there target so just eat think it’s all fine. But not even cooked your food when you chase them up by the original delivery time. Turned up 35mins late

I feel sorry for the lady on the phone who was lovely, and mentioned this is not the first complaint of the same product. When I asked for a refund, the “boss” said no and said they would give me me a free portion of crispy “saffron” in this case on my next delivery, even though it was through Uber eats. I said I would leave the review if no refund was provided, so here we are. I just feel sorry again for the lady who answered, not her fault. I wish you the best of the robberies going forward. See you in Forbes magazine £££££

The best vegan Chinese you could ever have! 100/10 we will order forever :D

I enjoyed the crispy salt and chilli chicken, the satay sauce was fantastic. The Kung Po was a just a spicy sauce and not like usual ones, but the veggies in the dish were great so I’d order from there again but a different dish

Even though my order was late, the food was hot & delicious. When I rang the restaurant the person I spoke too told me they were really busy but assured me my food was on the way.

Had a delivery last night, food was great, as always. In the past we have both eaten at the restaurant and had deliveries. Service is brilliant, delivery always fast and food yummy!! Has a good Vegan selection, I especially love the Vegan chicken balls 😋

I ordered here for the first time, I was no disappointed, the chicken was cooked so well, really tender and juicy, the rice was gorgeous, food arrived super quick and hot! The sauces were amazing full of flavour. I think this has now become my favourite chinese. Thank you so much ❤x

We're usually very happy with New World but this order was terrible. The curry sauce was like water, the Thai green curry was powdery and I'm not sure that the chicken was actually chicken.

All of it was like it was cooked and reheated. Texture not good. Soggy batter on the chicken, the duck was chewy, pancake roll was soggy. Won't order again!

Ordered a delivery last night and was told it would be an hour max. It arrived 2 and half hours later! If I’d known it would take so long I’d have ordered from elsewhere as we had children eating (the youngest fell asleep before it came). Also once it arrived we realised we were missing our chicken satay :( Food was tasty, but won’t be ordering delivery from here again.

Two lovely polite girls delivered my food

Lovely and light rice, sweet and sour batter. Fillet steak was ‘spongy’ and unable to cut and the scallop dish stated spring onions, there were none. And why don’t you deliver of an evening?!

I've struggled to find a Chinese takeaway in Newport that hits the same as the ones back home but I really enjoyed this meal. None of the food tasted greasy and it was all super tasty. Best Smoked Shredded Chicken in Newport!
