Great food one of the best in Newport 👍

Been a regular in this place for a year almost and it's just a great place to get some food, friendly staff and it just really feels like it's done with passion. Big thank you for all tasty meals I ordered here this year.

Arrived late and cold. Don't bother with this place.

This is by far my favourite Chinese spot in Newport, no regrets at all, I totally recommend. The food is amazing, customer service is top notch, very clean and hygienic environment, totally affordable and you get whatever you ask for. I give it a 20/10 rating

Don't know why there are bad reviews for this place, I've been eating here at least once or twice a month for about 10 years (except during covid) and have never once had a bad meal. I travel from Bridgend just to come here as it's the only Chinese I trust to consistently provide fresh and tasty food - I always dine in as they obviously don't deliver to Bridgend. The mussels in tender oyster sauce and crispy shredded beef in particular are worth trying. Vietnamese spring rolls, dumplings, wontons and bbq ribs are also really good. Staff are always friendly and food is cooked to order so always fresh. I'll continue coming here as long as the food stays so good.

Absolutely stunning 😍 we travelled from blackwood the first time trying and it was delicious 😋 and paid them a visit again last night the food is faultless the chicken balls are very generous with meat the salted chilli chicken is bang on!! Portion size could be considered? We also had the beef chow and it was spot on!! Can't wait to try more.... I would like to add how nice the owners are and very accommodating

Stopped on my way back to hotel and got a portion of salt and chilly chicken it was nice but portion size was a total rip off

Best chinese about that I've tasted I travel a good few miles just to take my food home I love the staff lovely people and its clean and tastes amazing 👏

This restaurant is fantastic. Dated decor , tables and chairs, but don’t be fooled as the food is absolutely delicious. Excellent service 10/10

Food was cold no flavour chilli beef was not beef por effort for special fried rice will not order again

The food is incredible and the personal touch from the staff is outstanding. Every dish I order never disappoints. I recommend king prawns Hong Kong style, egg fried rice, beef with bean sprouts in a black bean sauce and BBQ spare ribs. My list of recommendations is endless

Have been going here for many years. Now the new owners have to be the worst I’ve ever dealt with, ordered food tonight and it’s wrong the owners solutions was for me to go and collect even tho I payed for delivery? Not to mention food being freezing cold and a waste of money and wrong. Absolutely gutted as I loved this place but also the most pathetic customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. If I was anyone I would avoid this place at all costs! If I could leave minus 1 I would.

First time trying this place. We stopped on our way home. The place looks very clean and the staff was friendly. Food was tasty and the portion size was perfect. Good quality and price. We will definitely try it again :)

Booked for a table for 4 for this evening, easy to book over phone. Staff all came out and greeted us on arrival. Food was absolutely amazing. All freshly prepared and really tasty. We had egg fried rice, beef in black bean sauce, ribs, mini spring rolls, chicken & prawn balls, crispy shredded beef, satay chicken, chips, chicken chow mein, chicken curry, chicken wings, chips & prawn crackers 😊 quite a feast but some was brought home. It was all amazing. Highly recomend Honour Garden and we will definitely pay another visit. Thank you to all for making our night so enjoyable. 😊

Best chinese takeaway in Newport,been a customer for nearly 40 years,will add extra ingredients to meals if required,love the Singapore noodles,extra spicy with added green peppers,the special curry is delicious..

A place we visit regularly and we do this because the food is faultless, its always fresh and tastes wonderful 😋 . The staff are always welcoming and friendly with a 😃 😊. I highly recommend that you try this Chinese 😊

The reviews appear either one star or five. My daughter and partner are both vegetarians. So by default they are a little fussy about what they eat etc. Both reported this was the best Chinese food they have eaten. The plates were empty which is always a good sign. Lovely food served up be an elderly couple not the fastest cooks. But clearly know how to cook. Will certainly go again to the best Chinese in Newport.

Food was really fresh, I Recommend the chicken red Thai curry with white rice and the chicken and mushroom sauce.

Literally dishonoured my taste buds. Did you buy the noodles off a shop lifter? I think the other reviews are definitely from the shoplifters you buy the noodles off. I would have something proper witty to say but I'm just waiting for the food poisoning to pass.

Used to go here all the time as the food was excellent, but they have definitely lost it . Ordered beef chow main tonight and crispy beef . Not what I was expecting at all .. crispy beef was put in the micro wave I know this coz I heard the beeps was very hard and dry small portion too . Chow mien was awful . Definitely not coming here again , money could have been spent somewhere else .. gutted ..

STAY AWAY!!! Without doubt the worst Chinese I have ever had. Wouldn't never recommend this place to anyone. Food was horrendous, wait was twice as long as they said it would be and then found out it has a 1 food hygiene rating. Oh and portions size were very small....this wasn't an issues thou as the food was that bad.

Well what can I say the food was absolutely disgusting the vegetable spring rolls where rolled up dog food the curry sauce was like water the sweet and sour sauce was like vinegar mixed with water and to top it all of I find out they got a 1 star hygiene rating place needs to be shut down with immediate effect

Excellent! Don’t expect just eat deliveroo immediate delivery. This is an elderly husband and wife team. Go and get your takeaway, you are probably half their age. Don’t all turn up at once, they can’t cope with a full 17 seat restaurant. The food is absolutely worth it. I’m from Liverpool and Salt and Pepper is a religion. The Salt and “Chilli” ribs here were the best I have ever had. The Singapore Vermicelli (not on the menu but they cooked for me) was light, not too curried, and not greasy; really tasty. Can’t fault it for what it is. Excellent food, friendly and genuine place. The weather was awful but glad I got soaked and made the effort. If I lived local I’d be trying to get adopted.

Picked up food Monday and I've got to say we were both impressed with the meals, took a little time for meals to be cooked but definitely worth the wait, see you next Monday 😊

Cartons weren't even half full of the items we ordered. When we got home (which took all of 5 minutes) all the dishes were cold. I have to state this is the worst Chinese meal I've ever had and that includes the one that put me in HDU with food poisoning. (Different restaurants obviously!) Never ever going again.

Waited over 2hours for delivery after 6 phone calls , being told its on way,! If you want to eat from this place order at least 5 hours before u want to eat, they are a complete joke!

My favourite Chinese in Newport. Very low key and relaxed. The staff are lovely and the food is always good. Recommended.

I cannot moan about the food has always taste good but the man who answers the phone needs to go on a manners course to learn his English speaking a bit better as 3 out of 20 times order wrong and when phoned to explain order wrong arguing with you sorry but wrong thing end of don't argue

Spent time checking out reviews of some local Chinese take aways and decided to order after checking out their website and pricing up etc only to find that the prices have all gone up so are not as advertised and there is also a £2.50 delivery charge so what was £14 ended up being £17.20 I had 2 post it notes for 2 places and ended up cancelling and going to the other. Such a shame as other reviews about the food had been good although now agree with the ones about the guy on phone being rude.

Disgusted with the food hair in crispy chilli beef chickens balls over cooked prawn toast was minging and containers were half empty don't even deserve 1 star!!

Would put no stars if was an option! Food was cold, waited near enough an hour, food was very over cooked and even looked disgusting, the containers were half empty, there was several hairs found in one item of food ordered. Delivery driver didn't even bring enough change with him expected a tip. When called the shop she started to tell me she just couldnt understand me and said it was too late at night, then decided to offer me a discount on my next meal(will never order from there again!!) been promised fresh food delivered within twenty minutes and a £10 refund! She kept putting me on hold and ignoring what I was saying. Very rude.

Looking forward to a sit down meal there sometime but haven't managed it yet. Service can be a little slow at times but the food was great. One thing that seems to differ from most other Chinese restaurants is that my portion sizes seemed bigger than anywhere else! Great if you are extra hungry.

Ordered at 18.20 was told a 40 minute wait After numerous phone calls ( I say numerous as twice the lady put the phone down on me when asking how long as it was approaching 90 minutes!! and endless excuses blaming the driver for not returning Food turned up 20.30 was cold, rice was stodgy, prawn toast dried up the whole meal was not even edible absolutely disgusting

Ive really given this place my best shot as its only a stones throw from my house. But believe me when I say this. Three times ive visited and ordered a take away and three times the order has been wrong. The first 2 times I walked back to sort it out but now the third time I just cant be assed. I'll simply not be using the place again. Theres alot better takeaways around that I can can get delivered so I'll be doing that in the future. Sorry, I always try to support and use my local businesses but in this case im done.

Decided to visit for a 2 course sit down meal on a weekday evening with some friends. Nice and quiet with a few people popping in and out for takeaway. Starter: Hot & Sour Sauce - Very hot and spicy, has to be my favourite soup at Honour Garden. Contains Chicken, Chilli seeds, chilli flakes and pineapple. Not for the faint hearted! Makes the nose run but ends up curing colds! Main : Shrimps in Chilli and Garlic Sauce with Boiled Rice. Very tasty item, even better with Beef instead as past visits have shown me, Very good size portion. Very tasty with ample shrimps and vegetables and sauce mixed together well. This dish is also quite spicy but not as much as the Hot and Sour soup! I would also recommend the curry as it is a good balance of spice and taste. As always, we received great service on our visit and very much look forward to our next visit

Ordered this evening which cost £25. Crispy shredded beef - very small portion and tasteless. Salt & chilli chicken - very small portion and tasteless, chicken pieces were hard. Singapore noodles - Just noodle with a bit of spice, no filling at all, again tasteless. House fried rice - Hard chicken and no taste at all. Curry sauce - Pure oil and very thin and tasteless. Prawn crackers - Didn't think you could get these wrong but they were tasteless and stale.

excellent value, food always hot and delicious, always arrives on time when delivered, only once something was missing,but i phoned and item was delivered straight away.staff friendly and very polite, i always have my meals from honour garden now.

Me and my partner live just across the road from the honour garden and often get a takeaway from there!! We are big livers of chinese food and this has to be one of the best we have tasted!! The owner and his wife are warm and welcoming and the food is always cooked well and the service is fast!! Definitely recommend!!

Pedimos un chino desde aquí la semana pasada, y puedo decir que es la mejor comida china que he probado jamás. El servicio fue muy rápido y cuando la comida llegamos estaba hirviendo, que es una cosa rara cuando pides llevar. La comida era deliciosa y abundante en tamaño de la porción, así que pudimos ahorrar algunos para el día siguiente.

Lovely and friendly host who serves up brilliant and delicious food at great prices. I come here regularly with my family for the lunch. One of the hidden gems of the city. It never seems busy though, it definitely deserves more attention!

Visited this today with a group of friends, was very impressed, didn't even know it existed as it is well hidden on one of the lesser used streets of the city. The chef is a very happy woman and the waiter seems to be her husband, both were very welcoming. Food is home made and cannot be faulted. Highly recommended as a meal will cost you the set price of £7 for two courses.

Just had food delivered from the Honour Garden. Crispy shredded beef, egg fried rice,chips,sweet 'n' sour chicken and noodles with bean sprouts. Was told it would take 40-50 minutes and it arrived bang on time. The food was gorgeous. Tasty and plenty! I will Defo order from there again when I'm next in the 'port'!

Tom Yum soup was fiery, squid in Thai red curry tasty and generous. Inexpensive menu, but everything was cooked from fresh. Friendly, fast service. They also deliver. Better than we expected for the 'port. Beat Nandos hands down.

If only there was a very poor button. Twice ordered meals to pay on delivery for full meal then when driver gone parts of meals missing. Called back to ask for the rest of meal to be dropped off and was told they are too busy. Well that is tantamount to stealing as far as I am concerned. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!! Would like to know where the Honour in Honour Garden is?

The best of the best. Chinese you can't miss. King prawn dishes cooked to perfection.

Its a nice family restaurant with a tranquil ambiance. I liked the simplicity!
