J & B Fish Bar and Chinese Take Away in Fenland

Not the chip shop it used to be. It's was OK but very greasy batter. Cash only is a big thing I don't agree with.... yes cash is king but other payments should be accepted

I dont know what you've done but Chips are now hard, and I much preferred the paper than the trays.. trays make them cold quicker.. not good..

I like the sweet and sour chicken balls from here, cash only and parking can be tricky at peak times, but that is the same everywhere at the moment.

Has a great selection of takeaway meals. Very tasty too!! We go there for fish n chips, but they sell so much more and there's a restaurant at the side for dining inside. You may need to book though for that. Give them a ring and they will let you know.

Great Chinese food, possibly the best in the area. Chips are delicious, not the taste of the frozen chip you find in most take aways, pretty sure they're twice fried. Really deserve the recognition as one of the best takeaways in the March area.

The service is good but the food was excellent had fish and chips pie and chips 2 pancake rolls all the food was excellent

Always been my favourite local chippy and continued to impress after a few years of not going. Chips were delicious, fish was crisp and tasty and the portion sizes were very generous!

Excellent food bit pricey £50.50 for fish chips ×3 Sausage chips ×3. But the cooked fresh and it was nice

The handful of negative reviews on here must be really old and for predecessors as the Chinese I just had tonight for my daughter’s birthday was deliciously perfect! Highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken and the chips and barbecue sauce are mouth wateringly fab too. Will never go to another fish shop or Chinese takeaway in March again. 10/10

Brilliant service as well as foods, as a guy who isn't a fan of fish and chips, J&B fish bar nailed the flavours perfectly and the perfect refreshment to go with it, their milkshake was a flavour explosion, my experience at J&B fish bar was one of a kind. Binley mega chippy does not compare at all.

Great Experience at J&B, the food is really good quality for the price, can’t be beaten! The staff are friendly and the place is nice and clean. I would recommend the food to anyone that’s local.

The worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. The chow mein and curry tasted like a whole pot of Salt had been added. It was inedible and had I have eaten it God help my blood pressure. The Pancake roll cost £2.50 and it tasted like a battered sausage! Awful food and I will never ever buy from here again. I phoned up to explain how awful the food was and was offered a free meal ... no thanks. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of this place where the Chinese food is concerned. I can't comment on their fish and chips but based on how awful the Chinese food is I won't be taking the risk!

Bought two large cod and standard chips on Wednesday. Paid £18 60 and after taking the batter off it was mostly skin and hardly any fish. The two pieces would just about have fed one person.I had company and felt embarrassed to serve this up to them. ( Doug)

Good and large portions of fish and chips and a Chinese menu, which is reflected in the price. Take cash as cards are not accepted, but there is a machine in the nearby garage. Yes I will go again when next visiting family in the area.

When this was Monica House they did the best fish and chips. The chips were to die for. Thank Goodness they are just as good as J&B Fish Bar. Come armed with cash as they don't take cards, but do come. You may have to wait, but it's worth it. You can also phone your order in ahead of time which cuts the waiting down a bit. Always busy so food doesn't hang around for long enough to taste old and stale. I must admit I haven't tried the Chinese food yet. Might do that in the New Year.

Sorry but , they must have had a bad day , 3 x fish & chips & Peas + Sausage and Chips ( £26 ).... the mushy peas were the worst I ever had really bad, not mushy peas at all, processed peas in water. The chips had been cooked twice and were really hard (Warmed up) ... the fish was OK ... yes ok ONLY ..... Sorry but I for one will not go back here. MUST DO BETTER .

A friendly takeaway with authentic chinese meals particularly the szechuan and garlic / chilli dishes. Generous portions - the house special fried rice is tasty and a great value. Pretty good fish and chips too.

Ordered chinese over the phone had 15 minute wait when got there, food was delicious . Take a raincoat if you are visiting as will be waiting outside. Highly recommend.

Since reopening, by far the best chips in town. Sausages aren't to everyone's tasting but chips are nice and crispy and the rest is lovely tasting. Fantastic staff too.

Fast friendly service great food

Disappointing. Had an eat-in in the conservatory. It was extremely cold in there with no heat. Fish was ok, a bit dry. Chips were very good. The salt cellar wouldn't work because the salt was damp. Neither would the sugar pourer. Vinegar and tomato ketchup were available, but no tartar sauce. Be aware that there is not an available toilet, though for this size of café (less than 10 seats) it is not mandatory. On a previous visit everything was really good, except for the temperature in the conservatory. Sadly will not return again.

First time, and certainly will be returning absolutely lovely food and friendly service.

Love this place for fish and chips, especially with its child friendly hours. Just tried their new Chinese takeaway offererings and continue to be impressed, we will enjoy working through their menu. Enquired about vegan options, and they were happy to help (e.g. could cook either style tofu in pretty much any dish). Only downside was no seaweed! Service always quick and helpful. Cash only, no deliveries.

Worth waiting a few minutes for,chips were lovely and crisp,as was the batter on the fish,fish was on the small side but i only asked for the smaller portion so to be expected.will call again when passing.
