If you go or stay in Eyam you must pay this tea room a visit. Tucked away - just off the village green/centre. Run by a lovely lady. Had homemade lamb soup which was hearty and delicious. Followed by homemade fruit pie and cream which was again delicious. The tea room is full of old ornaments and tea sets - so quirky. Seating inside and out. Booking may be advisable,

Went for lunch here after having walked around the village when it was rainy and wet - we were greeted and given a table in the tearoom where there is a stand full of that day's homemade cakes - which all looked very tempting! We were looked after very well and the food was lovely - we had the vegetable soup and a toastie which really hit the spot! The lady running it (apologies for not asking) said she runs it how she would like to experience going to a tea room, and you can tell she takes pride in this. My only regret is not having enough space in my stomach to try the cakes!

What a fabulous place! Like stepping back in time when home made food meant just that!! Nothing bought in here. Fabulous fruit scones, warm from the oven with home made raspberry jam - yummy!! The owner was very friendly and made us and our little cavalier more than welcome. Fully recommend!!

This was an amazing find. Just as ee despaired of finding afternoon tea after 3.30pm, we found Kathleen's place, tucked away down a back lane. Open until 5pm! 😀 Treated to warm home-baked scones and a big pot of tea we relaxed on a pretty flower filled patio. The final treat was an impromptu tour of the rest of the amazing garden. Can't rank the experience highly enough!

Make sure you book in advance for your Sunday dinner. Whoever makes the first booking gets to choose the roast of the day, which at the moment is pork cooked in cider with a rich apple and cider gravy, served with apple sauce; lamb cooked with apricots with a rich apricot and onion gravy served with redcurrant jelly or chicken breast topped with herb stuffing and wrapped in bacon served with a honey and mustard sauce. There is also a vegetarian option. We had the lamb today and the apricot gravy was a revelation. My husband wolfed his down in record time! Very friendly and homely place and we also had some nice chats with fellow customers. Looking forward to going back again soon.

Found this little gem on the recommendation of someone I met on a walk. What a find. Absolutely amazing food, lovely lady who does all home cooking from her own kitchen. Beautiful gardens. Sadly only open Sundays and Mondays 11-5. I'm so glad I found it on Sunday (had the hot pot soup and dessert) as went back again on Monday for late lunch/early dinner. The roast pork salad was delicious, as was the plum crumble and cream dessert 😋😋 Will definitely visit again on my next trip to Eyam 😍😍

Really deserves a review and if it had a 6-star option the Ivy Cottage Tea Room would bag it hands down! Lovely, cozy interiors, welcoming and cordial host - Kathleen has really set the bar high for tea rooms and brunch spots everywhere. For the first time ever, every single dish we ate was of the utmost quality and taste, it wasn't even just average or good, it was all finger-licking delicious from the drinks to the cake to the soups or the sandwiches. The sultana scones were the highlight of our meal served with fresh clotted cream and jam, we couldn't stop ourselves from licking the spoon. Must try the toasted bloomer melt too! We saw the garden Kathleen grows her fresh and organic produce and her homey kitchen and baking area that really made us feel warm in our hearts. Her super friendly pup made our visit a core memory. Definitely recommend if you are anywhere nearby, or even a trip dedicated to just visiting here. Kathleen and her team definitely have put Eyam on the map.

What a delightful find this was! Having visited the museum in Eyam (also excellent), we followed the signs and came across this wonderful, old-fashioned tea room. The owner welcomed us warmly and we each enjoyed a delicious bowl of homemade hotpot, followed by tea and cake (all very reasonably priced). We would definitely visit again - thank you!

Absolutely perfect little hidaway cafe with the most beautiful garden. We have fairly enjoyed apple pie (still slightly warm in the middle) and coffee cake washed with the freshly made raspberry orange juice and coconut punch! Such a majestic place and such an attentive host! Will be back for roast 😋

Superb Sunday roast (you do have to book in advance for Sunday lunch as per her website) we had roast pork and it was piping hot, perfect roast potatoes and beautifully cooked veg. Managed to make room for a fruit scone afterwards (one of the best scones we’ve ever eaten). We were invited to look around the garden which was idyllic. It’s a perfect spot for a lazy Sunday.

Lovely surprise garden, with tables and chairs. Space if the weather is rainy in a very unusual little cottage. The choice of cakes was very good. Tea and coffee. We looked around our hosts garden, it was very special, I would love a garden like that.

Visited here today for the first time. Only open on Sundays so were lucky to see the sign in Eyam village otherwise we would not have seen it. Tucked away is this quirky little tearoom with just three tables inside and lovely outside seating for favourable weather. What an experience; the most delicious homemade scone with jam and butter and slice of chocolate fudge cake served with a lovely pot of tea. A cake fork and butter knife were nice touches as were the little spoons, ivy patterned china and stainless steel teapot. Very friendly owner who allowed us to look around her cottage garden afterwards. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and will return.

Just wow where do you start. We stumbled across a sign to a tea room when in Eyam and wow. The host has opened up her garden and little room with a log burner as she enjoys cooking. We had the best soup we’ve ever tasted and delicious home made cakes and scones. All home made food and excellent service. We will be back next time we visit Eyam, thank you.

Kim & I love tea rooms and having seen this one we just had to book afternoon lunch. Following on from our booking Kathleen phoned us to confirm that her ‘freshly’ made ‘shoulder of lamb’ would be okay and of course we said yes and we were not disappointed! She even explained that it’s a little tricky to find but her directions were spot on. From the moment we arrived we received first class service (even when the heavens opened up) and we cannot fault anything. The lamb was amazing as were the crunchy vegetables that were cooked to perfection.. I managed some home made apple and blackberry pie that had a lovely portion of fresh cream with it and this too was delicious. So if you would like some of the very best ‘home cooked’ food in a very quaint and different setting then please go and experience Kathleen’s hospitality you will not regret it.. We even got a guided tour around Kathleen’s ‘labour of love’ garden which you must see. Kim & I will certainly let our friends know of this tea room as we are sure others will once they too have been here. Thank you Kathleen and see you again next year👏👍😀

We were in the area and wanted tea and cake. An internet search suggested this quaint little tea shop and I am so pleased it did. It isn't easy to find and this is part of it's charm. Once you do stumble upon Ivy cottage you are greeted with a beautiful quintessential British cottage garden and a lovely host who amazingly runs everything all by herself. I am extremely fussy where cake is concerned but I was not disappointed. Properly homemade cakes that are soft and moist with plenty of flavour and the pie pastry is to die for, almost like a shortbread. Absolutely delicious. If I was being incredibly picky my only suggestion would be that another staff member may ease the pressure on the owner as although we didn't mind waiting I witnessed other customers grumbling about how long it took to receive their order. If you aren't in a rush and want to enjoy a relaxed bite to eat in a stunning location then definitely give it a try.

Whenever I come to the peak district to visit my Dad, a trip to the Barley Mow is an absolute necessity. This unique and marvellous place has more personality and warmth than any pub I know. Food is great, beer is well kept, cider selection is off the hook. The decoration and posters on the walls sing both of the histories the Barley Mow preserves and of the communities it so ably serves. Most highly recommended.
