Called in before garden department. Six people in at 10.45. Two teas and two toasted tea cakes. When they arrived they were opened up. Butter supplied rock hard so could not spread. Therefore sliced butter 1 half and jam other side. Put together and horror. Could not have been burnt more. If home I would bin them. Will never go again

We enjoyed home cooked corn beef pie and mince and dumplings, with a delicious ginger sponge and custard to follow. Great value and good portion size. We also enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the swans afterwards too. Very pretty and we will definitely be back!

Came along to purchase a play house for my three grandchildren, which by the way I did purchase a one! I'm very pleased with it, I decided to call in the cafe while here aw my goodness what was awaiting me! Lovely friendly staff serving what I can only describe as great looking home cooking like Mam would serve up, Especially on a cold January day! Mince & dumpling with all the veg, there was a great selection & choice of meals not to mention desserts too! Also have a drinks license like I say came away very impressed 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

This was our first visit to this restaurant and overall we found it rather disappointing. There is quite a large notice displayed stating that all food and drinks are to be paid for before ordering. Fair enough, but after standing in line to pay, we were very abruptly and rudely informed that this isn't the procedure after all. We proceeded to order and 1 of our party opted for a small pork chop dinner. Imagine her surprise when the pork chop was halfed, well to be more precise it ended up like a 1/3 and 2/3's!!!! You needed a magnifying glass to see the meat and I'm not exaggerating.I had the roast beef carvery and the beef is wafer thin The staff serving the vegetables are surly and abrupt to say the least, no hello, how can we help, in fact really miserable and I think some re-training in customer relations is required. The food is at best luke warm, the restaurant is definitely overdue for a make-over and the heating needs turning up. Sadly as the title says disappointing, Of course, they may have been having an off day, but first impressions count for a lot and there just wasn't any.

Situated in Horns Garden Centre The Ivy Restaurant is a great place to have some delicious food. Roast beef dinner, corn beef & potato pie, mince & Dumplings and many more delicious mains all served with mash pots, roast pots, carrots, mushy peas & cabbage and the most delicious gravy. The dearest meal is about £6 If you're not a big eater you can ask for a small portion. There is tea, coffee, beer, juice etc There is plenty of room for wheelchairs and the disability rest room is very spacious. I will definately be back again.

We wanted a nice lunch, I'm vegetarian my partner likes meat. He ordered steak pie, veg and gravy, £5.95. I got just veg, £4.95. I was a bit surprised to be charged almost £5 for carrots, cabbage, mushy peas and mashed potato with some vegetarian gravy. I complained and the very nice lady in charged asked the girl who was serving to put extra veg on the plate. It was then a reasonable sized meal as opposed to what I considered had been a child's potion size. I did enjoy the meal but would make vegetarians aware that unless you request extra veg you will get a quite small meal of veg for £4.95. My partner said his was nice and had no complaints

The Ivy is a hidden treasure. I have eaten there THREE times this week. Sunday lunch is absolutely wonderful. You have to be patient at noon as the queue is lengthy. It is worth the 5 - 10 minute wait. All perfectly cooked. Yes..I also want to marry the cook !!

. Simplemente no dicen mi GP). Por sólo £2.95! (1,95 libras si no quieres el helado). Me pregunto si ella lo hacían me extra grande uno en vez de una tarta de cumpleaños. No estoy seguro, sin embargo, cómo tener la casa crema sin volcándolo. . .

Had heard great reports so tried it today, disappointing, not very nice food but the miserable staff made it worse, one in particular was very rude, she is clearly in the wrong job, disgusting service to be honest. Manners cost nothing. Won't ever be back.

Genuinely one of the worst Sunday lunches we've had. Looking at the large piles of pre cut meat waiting under heat lamps to be served I should have known what was to come. Unfriendly staff too, one of whom put stuffing on the chicken dinner then remembered we wanted it without so simply scrapped it off the chicken and back in the pile to be served again. The chicken was bland and the beef and vegetables not much better. One to avoid in the future!

I have visited this Restaurant many many times since 2006 and have never been disappointed with my food, even turning up on speck so to speak and still being given a table has exceeded my expectations time after time. The Sunday Lunch is not to be missed, everything freshly picked and cooked to perfection. The while your meal settles and before yo begin your drive home take a look around the Garden Centre especially the aviary, there are some beautiful birds to look at and admire, then on through to the aqaurium area and the wide range of trpoical fish, The Ive Restaurant, Not to be missed.

We have been going to this restaurant within Horn's Garden Centre for a number of years. We usually have something from the hot plate, there is a great variety of old favourites to choose from such as mince and dumplings, roast of the day, corned beef and leek pie, quiche, liver and onions to name but a few. The food is of a very high standard, served withy mash and roasties and vegetables. Variety of cakes and desserts, salads and sandwiches. All served with a smile by staff who remember your preferences. Fantastic value in a nice atmosphere. Accessible for wheelchairs and OAPs. I cannot praise this little jewel of a place enough and the service is highly commendable, nothing is ever too much trouble. They also serve breakfasts and Sunday lunches.

I last reviewed this place in 2019 where my main issue was poor service and would you believe it things haven't changed. Service today was non existent. We were seated for over 10 minutes .... Not even a greeting. Front of house totally disorganised. It's a wonder the floor covering wasn't worn out because of the too-ing and fro-ing which never seemed to produce anything. This service is the worst I've experienced anywhere.. Cone on.... Get a grip !

A hidden gem of a pub. We were recommended by a friend to seek out this place just off the main road between the Eden Arms Roundabout and Newton Aycliffe. Good friendly staff. Food was lovely .Little Jill had the Pie of the day, Chicken and Ham, I had the Gammon. Both were really lovely. The only gripe i had was the overflowing wall mounted cigarette bin at the main door it was unsightly and off putting to us non smokers. Maybe move it or empty it more often. Only a little gripe and will not put us off returning.
