Istanbul BBQ Kitchen in Charnwood

Placed an order this afternoon and safe to say I will not be ordering again. Ordered the Turkish salad and the olives were completely rotten and mouldy inside. Did not make me want to finish my meal. Upon closer inspection it looked like the salad was past its date as all looked on its last legs. Really disappointed as I have ordered here previously and enjoyed it. I called them to inform them of this and all I got back was oh right sorry and pretty much silence, I was then offered another salad but unfortunately I really didn’t fancy eating anymore food from this place especially being 5 months pregnant. Plus we had drove 20 minutes to collect. Emailed restaurant but no response. Unimpressed which is such a shame.

SH**E! I heard the manger speaking to staff members like s**t, shouting was going off in the back. Visually seen the kebab meal been dropped on the f*g ash floor and retrieved by the manager (female) and placed back on the plate. FML. Food tasted like the floor, tasted better food from a super noodle packet. PLEASE DONT entertain this backstreet s**t hole. Thankyou

Found myself on my work break in barrow upon soar on a Monday evening and thought I’d give this place a go. Was great to see options priced at a point where it was affordable for lunch or a quick snack unlike most others I’ve been to. Staff were really friendly and I ordered the small chicken Shish priced at 6.50. I’ve eaten a lot of Turkish food in my time and it’s so easy to get wrong. This definitely wasn’t the case here. I had a takeaway container filled with buttery rice some big chunks of marinated perfectly cooked chicken, red cabbage and salad. It came with a fresh pitta and 2 small pots of mild chilli sauce and mint yoghurt to use as you wish. I’m really fussy when it comes to food especially takeaways but I honestly couldn’t fault it it tasted really good and was exactly what I hoped it would be. Once finished I felt compelled to write this review as they deserve it in times of economic uncertainly for the restaurant industry. 5 stars well done! I’ll be back!

Turned up at 8pm to find it closed. Opening times on door state it should have been open. It was 23rd August and also advertised online as being open.

Lovely food as always. Visited with my daughter yesterday. Staff lovely but the meat/ rice/ chips are superb. A little gem in barrow.

We love the food from here and visit regularly for a takeaway, even though it is a 24 mile round trip It’s certainly the best Turkish kebab i’ve had, just like being in Turkey. Even the plain rice is really nice.

My Turkish Friend invited me and my friends for a lovely meal. Staff were brilliant, food was great. we left our Turkish friend to order the food as he had the best experience of "home cooking" as he called it, the mixed platter was awesome. Our Jamaican friend ordered the chicken wrap (Classic) which he enjoyed. Chips were spot on.

Thank you for a delicious meal once again. I ordered the Family Platter for takeaway and it was so good. Very tasty and succulent meat; in particular the chicken wings and chicken shish! I always recommend this place.

Was visiting barrow in the summer and a mate who lives locally always raves about this being the best Turkish he’s ever had in the uk. After finally going, nothing comes close to this. On picking up the order, you can spell the charcoal bbq from down the high street. The portion sizes and freshness of the food were exceptional. We had a family platter which had everything from lamb cutlets and kebabs all served on a bed of the most delicious rice. We also went for the cold mezze selection which has some amazing vine leaves. If you’re in the area, you have to try this place

Visited again with my friend. The food was very tasty. Staff were very friendly. Had lamb and chicken - to die for. Need to update web page as prices differ - still worth every penny. Corkage fee of £3 per person as you can take in your own wine.

Ordered online. Within minutes given a delivery time which they managed to improve upon. Food arrived nice and hot. Very tasty. Meats cooked perfectly. Rice and salads very good. Would recommend the Baklava’s.

We ordered for a large party of us and the food was wonderful. The rice was lovely and fluffy with the meat cooked to perfection, charred BBQ edges but succulent. Everyone enjoyed the food and would certainly recommend

Went into store and ordered while running errands in Dickens Heath. Took about 20 minutes as it’s cooked fresh, not a bad thing. Ordered 2 chicken Shish wraps with no onion and a large chips, reasonable price, just under £15. Could see the two members of staff looking at the wraps behind the counter before serving, with a bit of confusion, but the server specifically asked the chef if it has onion and he told her no, no onion, just before serving them to us. It had onion. So he lied, didn’t seem to enthusiastic cooking the food either, so now I’m sat with indigestion all night, thank you Istanbul BBQ Kitchen. I did take the onion out but the juice from the raw onion was still in the wrap so left an aftertaste - would have been a lot worse if it was an allergy issue and not just preference.

We absolutely love this place and have never had a bad experience. The food is always cooked to perfection and the hummus is the best I’ve ever had. It’s definitely a place I would recommend!

Firstly I ordered by phone as it was free delivery only to be told that the 3rd edition takeaway menu was out of date price wise even though I had only picked it up only 3 days earlier. Hummus , falafel, feta salad small chicken shish and a mixed shish . £41.50p .!!!!!!!! To be fair the order arrived quite quickly but it was so poor. The falafel had been cut in half to look like four pieces. The hummus (see photo ) looked and tasted awful, freezing cold , possibly frozen. The chicken was so overcooked and really dry. In short save your money

Prices have increased which is ok however now it’s count the pieces of chicken and whatever time they say it will be delivered add another hour and half and don’t expect the order to be correct . Shame we was loyal customers since it opened but greed and lack of care has taken over Good luck

Friday night and some teething problems in terms of getting everyone served, waited a while for food, but it was lovely when it arrived. Hopefully they get into the swing of things as we really enjoyed it, really fresh and would go back for sure.

This is my favourite local takeaway. Nicely spiced kebabs, delicious rice and fresh salads. Halloumi, pitta breads and dips. Very popular at peak times so it’s worth ordering in plenty of time if you want to eat at a particular time.

Order arrived wrong and when we called to ask about it we was told that they was so busy and orders can go out wrong. No offer to rectify the order. Also paying £6 for a wrap with 5 pieces of meat seems incredibly steep....

Pretty disappointing meal. Unfortunately the meat was delicious, but the rice was well over cooked and no salad with the order.

We have had takeaways from here since it opened, but I’ve got to say tonight’s was a real disappointment, the meats on the mixed kebab and the spicy chicken were so overcooked there were no meat left inside some of them, others were so dry...

Use the Istanbul regularly always pleasant quick and the food is always excellent - never ever missed a beat !

The chicken is so beautifully seasoned and cooked. Salad fresh and flavoursome. Would recommend 👍No experience of delivery times because it was collection.

ordered food over the phone for collection the girls were very friendly. However as I was waiting for my food i noticed inside the kitchen area a poor standard of hygiene. the staff members and chef don’t wear any gloves (or masks) despite handling food....

Great BBQ meat feast and healthy meal!Since the lock down we have had a a number of meals from Istanbul BBQ, delivered and enjoyed.The Special for two is idea for a couple with a great selection skewered meats, over a layer of rice which soaks up that lovely juice from the meat. As an added side, we always get some chips just as a top up and also means we have some meat left for the next day!Would certainly recommend

OMG if you need a meat fix this is the place to visit.Even though we live in the next village, this little gem has been kept a secret until my Brother in Laws birthday when my eyes were opened.Whilst the restaurant is small and there is limited number of tables, the experience was fantastic. Food, service, noise and smells all made for a great Turkish eating experience.It’s a BYO booze but don’t let that out you off as there is a supermarket opposite so leaves you more cash to spend on the gorgeous meat experience the Istanbul provides.

We had our friends from France staying with us and introduced them to Istanbul BBBQ Kitchen, theythoroughly enjoyed their experience of Turkish food. Great food, great atmosphere and excellent friendlysevice. We have been several times and will continue to eat there in the future.

Food good but bizarrely there was no heating on in the restaurant. To say it was cold is an understatement. We sat at the table in our jackets. Even when I said to the waitress how cold it was all she offered was an agreement. Weird! There was a radiator right behind us but not switched on. We’d have spent more money there had we felt welcome. Shame as the food was good. Clearly too tight to switch on the heating though. Poor customer service.

Visited for the 2nd time and really enjoyed the food again. We had the special for 2 and there was loads of food. The chicken is tender and tasty and I really like the pitta and dips. We had 2 drinks 2 lots of pitta and the special which has a mix of meat salad rice and veg for £19. Great value and lovely food

Doesn't hold too many tables so book ahead - but the food is amazing and you can watch it be cooked on the BBQ out front. Reasonable prices bearing in mind other establishments in Barrow. And it does take-away too. However no cards but there is a cash point just a few doors away.

GREAT authentic Turkish food right on our doorstep! Great selection, cooked to order, top quality ingredients; simple, pleasant, unpretentious decor and great service! BYO alcoholic drinks - perfect place for a birthday celebration or quiet/romantic dinner for 2.

Lovely meal, cosy environment but takes only cash. Both eat-in and takeaway with free parking opposite the shop. Good customer service but small and needs to consider ease of payment by accepting cards.

We get takeaway from here at least once a fortnight without fail. Best takeaway in the village. The lamb shish is incredible. My partner and I order one large and one small and share which is plenty! Always greeted with a smile and really look forward to the food. Fresh and delicious!

When this place first opened, you got generous sized portions in your “take-always”. My particular favourite was the mixed kebab, a skewer each of chicken, lamb and minced kebab, plus rice, bread and salad garnish.

This is now our local takeaway, the food is always spot on and the staff are always accommodating. They also have a tiny restaurant to the rear which i would advise to book as its always busy. Highly recommended.

We paid a visit here after a miserable meal at a restaurant elsewhere. Were sat within 15 seconds on a Saturday evening and were given pitta breads along with some dips without even asking; great as we were starving!

The food here is just amazing, everytime we have a takeaway it's just so delicious, from walking through the door the smells are amazing and all the staff are happy and smiling and even remember our surname now!! This is the second visit and it was just as good as our first visit,we sat in on both visits the first visit was in the evening and they were very busy but found space for us. They weren’t as busy but we called in the afternoon between lunch and dinner

Great food, nice atmosphere and a lovely waitress. I live around 40 miles away and it was quite a journey to meet friends, but it was worth the drive. We will return for sure!!

Have had take away and eaten in. Very Compact eating in which created a Lovely atmosphere. Take tour own drink. Service was good and so was food. Everything on display so you can see the cooking and the cleanliness. Personally I love Turkish food and this was fresh and delicious and great value. Staff very helpful and friendly. Am I glad its just on my doorstep.

Just eaten at Istanbul BBQ Kitchen and had a fantastic meal. Although busy, which is great to see, service was spot on and quick. Food was great, there were 4 of us so lots of different food ordered. Chicken shish kebab was great. Rice and salad also really tasty and nice. Only issues we had were that it was very busy and loud (but was a Saturday night). I'd probably get food as a takeaway next time.

It’s lovely here, the food is delicious and the staff and lovely. It’s a great atmosphere. We’ve been here a couple of times and we’ll defiantly visit again.

Food is always nice. The business could benefit from having card payment facilities. Wasn’t impressed to see 2 of the staff members eating whilst working but can’t fault the quality of the food!

Tasty and fresh Shish Kebab. We had Lamb and Chicken. Good portion with salad, pitta and rice. The best kebab I have ever had.

This is without doubt one of the best Turkish restaurants I have ever been to. The staff are fabulous, the food is cooked freshly on the open BBQ. The quality of the food is exceptional and without fault. I need say no more that go and try it, you will not be disappointed.

I live in the next village to this takeaway and decided to give it a try. I was expecting authentic Turkish cuisine. I ordered onion rings as a starter and a spicy chicken shish kebab for the main course. I rang the order in and they said collect in 10 minutes.

Came by chance, now regular both for family meals, meal-chats with friends and all too frequent take out. Unpretentious and simply delicious. Prior to this never really convinced that charcoal made a big difference to taste. Frankly, it does, I'm converted, massively tasty.

The food here is simply amazing. Whether it's kebab or vegetarian, everything is great, and the rice and side salads compliment the main courses brilliantly.

Birthday meal for 7 of us on a Saturday evening at 7.00pm, so we booked ahead and were glad we had. Very busy throughout - both at the tables and with the take-away side.

This takeaway opened recently and everyone I met who had eaten there, or had a take-away, was impressed; so we decided to try it ourselves.

I'm a big lover of Turkish BBQ food and I have my favourite go-to restaurant but it's miles away in the city.

We booked into Istanbul BBQ Kitchen for a family meal. What a treat. Hot mezze starters were nice but we had the mixed kebab meal for four. What a treat - all elements tasted fabulous. And friendly helpful staff made it a pleasant experience. We all can’t wait to come again !!

Looking for s place to eat with friends begging with letter “I” and found this place. So pleased with the experience. The meal was fantastic served by a very generous host and friendly welcoming staff. Nothing fancy just excellent well cooked & delicious food in a cosy little restaurant. First time here & amazing. Very warm welcome, very hospital waiter who was great fun & professional too. Food fantastic, quality, flavour all great. Cannot praise enough, I can see us becoming regulars as excellent value, quality & service.

I absolutely love the food from here and cant believe I didn't try the place sooner.

I was interested in what the kebabs were, and tried to talk to the chefs about it. They were rude and told me to talk to the serving girl. Unfortunately she wasn't particularly friendly, and I felt I was putting her out by asking anything. Ordered some water and ice which never came, so had to ask for it again after 10 mins. Tiny glass came with no ice. Had to ask for ice and a jug of water. Good came and was OK. Not the best Turkish I've had but not the worst. Bill came and I got told it was cash only... tax dodging? Then had to wait absolutely ages for my change which I was going to leave as a tip, but didn't feel it was appropriate after having to awkwardly sit waiting for it while the staff tried to avoid me. Terrible atmosphere.

The menu is available for take away or eat in. The dining area is small but efficient. There is a friendly atmosphere

This place is a welcome addition to the village, the staff are friendly and the service very good. We have had many takeaways from here and they always have been good, recently we visited the restaurant, we had the hot mezze to start big mistake- it was just fried out of the back frozen rubbish, a very stark contract to the fresh lovely food served here. Avoid that and you won’t better this place for the money it costs

Tonight was my first visit to this restaurant and I have to say the food was excellent and very authentic! I haven’t been to Turkey for about 8 years but it took me back there tonight! The staff were friendly and the young waitress was very pleasant and helpful! To top it all, it was very reasonably priced! Would highly recommend and I will be back!

We eat here about once a month (takeaway or eat in) Really nice food, cooked in front of you on a BBQ charcoal grill. Our 7yr old loves it and is always chatting to the staff.

Great little restaurant. You can pre book and is great for families or nights with friends as you can take your own booze.

Easy to miss this is little gem as it sits in Barrow High Street. Not the largest of places but food and service is excellent. Went for the platter for two, and with drinks came to £19 so excellent value. Pitta, Dips, Salad, Rice, and three different types of meat, all very tasty.

We have been to this place as a group of 4. We all had a mixed special kebab platter. As a turkish person, I have been to loads of turkish restaurants around midlands and let me tell you, kebab in this place was one of the best I had so far. Staff is very accommodating and nice. I highly recommend this place and I hope to be back again!

I can't stay away from this place. I popped in late one night simply needing 'food'. I came out after deciding a sit-down meal was required and couldn't believe what I'd experienced. If you can sit away from sight of the road you can actually believe you're on holiday, so many other people have said the same. The food is all cooked on a proper charcoal BBQ which gives the food its distinctive flavour. The mixed kebab is my favourite, though I'm slowly working my way around the menu and making discoveries, try a lamb yoghurtlu -stunning!

I do like Turkish food but this was on a whole new level, we chose a mixed Adana kebab for 2, you get a free mixed starter which was a nice surprise, the service was prompt.

Lovely kebabs, juicy meat with nice rice. Woth a little D-Tour! Been here now several times, and quality is very good. A,mazing to see, how they prepare the kebabs, and hopw they 'keep track'.

The food here is really good especially given the price! It is really nice and fresh, and our food order came quickly. They did forget our drinks but as soon as we reminded them they got them sorted quickly.

For the 2nd time out of 2 visits here, food was missing after collection. A platter with no pitta this time. Add to that 95% of the meal is plain rice, with just a greasy minced lamb kebab and tough lamb pieces, i will be staying clear of this place for good. Think twice before visiting, there are better alternatives.
