I had a very good time absolutely. loved the waiter staff especially that very tall man. young girls i noticed were very helpful and polite. I loved to see young ones working hard. Food amazing especially that chocolate cake wow.

Another amazing meal the food was beautiful and such generous portions we had the mix grill for 2 the meat is beautifully cooked and such high quality.the service is outstanding every one is so attentive and really go out of there way the waiter noticed it was my birthday and came out with a little desert and candles with out even being asked will definitely be returning soon thank you guys for a lovely evening

SHOCKING Booked a table for 18h15. No service till 18h45 when they DID NOT direct us to our table but merely took an order. By 19h10 we just left. No drinks came. No apology. Absolutely RUBBISH service. Too many bookings and not enough staff or tables to cope. Money money money!!!!!! And tbh not such good food. We went to another restaurant on the High Street which was AMAZING!!!!!!

Absolutely everything. Welcome and service was A* as was the food and the beer. It was a last minute decision and we went as a family, my mother was visiting. Kids really enjoyed. Food was well prepared and a veritable cornucopia of tastes. Let us all very full and very happy. Highly recommended.

This place used to be outstanding and we would sometimes visit as often as once a month. It offered authentic Turkish dishes which you could not easily get else where. We were so disappointed at our last visit that the new menu has been dumbed down to such an extent. Gone is the mixed mezes for 1 which included such things as stuffed vine leaves, falafel, aubergine dip, feta cheese parcels, spicy sausage and more. A few of these you can order as a whole portion but no longer as a meze. Many traditional Turkish dishes seem to have gone and there are now items such as king prawn linguine on the menu. Why? Please don’t pander to fussy eaters who want to eat the same generic creamy food you can get pretty much anywhere. Also disappointingly the Lux sharing platter now doesn’t come with either of the two dipping sauces it used to, nor any rice, nor any salad. Ok, you can order rice separately but it seems penny pinching and the whole experience seems so watered down and generic. It wasn’t far off what could get as a mixed kebab from a decent kebab takeaway. I suspect they’re gearing more towards the takeaway customer than the eat in ones.

I hadn't visited the Istanbull Grill for a while but I visited on Friday night for a family celebration. The new layout looks good and I didn't notice any draught from the doors which had been a minor issue before. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals and in fact it exceeded our expectations. The sea bass was especially good as was the sucuk which we had as one of the starters. I would recommend sharing starters if there are a few of you. The service was attentive without being intrusive. I will visit again.

Popped in here whilst on break at work and opted for the 2 course set menu for £14.50 I had the meatballs and the lamb casserole and both were excellent!! The meatballs came plenty of Turkish bread to mop up the cheesy sauce and the lamb casserole flavour was immense Friendly service and great value lunch menu 👍

Having always wanted to try this place, Ii went for a mid week treat with my mum and sister last night. Why oh why have I not been here sooner. Lovely decor, fantastic staff and amazing food. The staff were were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was friendly and professional. We had the mixed grill between two of us and mum had the swordfish steak. The food was seasoned wonderfully and the meat was cooked perfectly. Cocktails and drinks were lovely and fresh too. We even managed to bring some of the mixed grill home with us too. We will certainly be back and will bring the rest of the family with us too.

Its such a shame to be writing this as we have visited this restaurant many times over the years…. However, we will not be returning. Although the food was lovely, our issue comes with their menu changes and the service charge they bang onto the bill. A year ago - you received your main meal with a side of salad and rice or bread. The prices and portion sizes were reasonable. However, after visiting last week for a mid week meal, we discovered that your main meal now comes with nothing else. Nothing. I ordered a mixed kebab and I got 2 skewers on a plate. A smaller portion of rice that used to be included with the meal is now an extra £4!! So after ordering a couple of side dishes each to make our main course into a meal, all of a sudden your main meal is over £20. Which is expensive for what you get. On top of this, when the bill arrived, they have now introduced a 10% service charge. I understand restaurants may not be making as much money as they used to, but pulling little tricks like this will see your customers disappear due to greed! The restaurant is not as busy as what it used to be, and after eating here last week I now know why.

Been three times recently so thought I’d best review it. Fantastic place, great food and service. Jovial atmosphere. Also, I recently returned from Istanbul and the food I had over there was the same as here - exceptional. Great if you have a larger group and like a bit of atmosphere on a weekend. Portions generous, we took loads home and had the next day. Still tasted superb. Will be going again soon.

Been to Istanbul grill many times, food is always fantastic as is the service however after recent visit I shall not be returning as I don't like there dishonest way of adding a mandatory service charge to the bill, spent close to £300 for 8 people only to have an additional £30 added to the final bill, we always tip the staff anyway especially when in a large party but it shouldn't be a forced tip- the price on the menu is the price you should pay, its like popping to the local shop for a £1 loaf of bread only to be told at the till no its actually £1.20 as the advertised price doesn't include the hidden charge ......not acceptable Istanbul grill it really isn't especially considering the menu changes you've made recently so that things like rice & salad are no longer included with menu items

One of the best places I’ve tried so far. The food is full of taste and portions are big and you never think that the restaurant is cutting down on something. I’ve visited the restaurant with my friends and we all left extremely happy with incredibly friendly and superb service. Plates were coming straight out of the grill and oven (we had chicken sizzler which came with a special plate as it was extremely hot)100% recommend and I will definitely visit it again shortly.

This is, I think, only the second time we’ve ordered a Deliveroo from here. First time was during the first lockdown. We’ve swapped our usual restaurant night for a restaurant home delivery night during the lockdowns. The number of restaurants delivering to our address is quite limited. With one exception, none are places we used to go to regularly and that includes the Istanbul Grill. In truth, very few of them are places that we’d consider going to when lockdown lifts. But Istanbul Grill is a step above most of those places and I think we’ll want to give it a try in person.We ordered as we would in any East Mediterranean restaurant – intending to put everything on the table at the same time to share, so the two of us could enjoy a mezze. We ate:-Patlican Salatisi – served cold, a “stew” of aubergine, tomato, peppers and onion, cooked so long that it becomes almost a sauce. You’ll find similar dishes all over the Eastern Med, including on the menu of both of Cheadle’s Lebanese restaurants where it’s called makmour. This version is an absolute cracker.Halloumi – sliced and simply friedFalafel – a main course dish of crushed chickpeas and butterbeans, formed into torpedo shapes. Crisp on the outside, with a well flavoured, very slightly spicy interior.Adana kebab – slightly spicy again, the classic kofta kebab from Turkey’s fifth largest city. Probably the tastiest of the kebabs you’re going to find in any Turkish gaff.Both of the main courses came with nice fluffy rice and slightly different salads (we just mixed the two together). There were also assorted dips and sauces but I’ve lost track of what came with which dish. There was houmous, a couple of versions of cacik, tomato sauce and a chilli sauce (it would have happily been hotter). And there was really nice bread – not your bog standard pittas but something more the texture and flavour of Italian focaccia. Good dinner!

We ordered takeaway meal to celebrate wife's birthday just the 2 of us £48, the food bore no resemblance to what you would expect if you had gone in for a sit down meal and was very disappointing in quality and taste. Hopefully this is just a blip and things get back on track once normal service is resumed

I picked up a take away - we are in lockdown so cannot eat in the restaurant. We had a mix of starters, mains and some lovely baklava afterwards Just beautiful.

The food is amazing! Always full of flavours and absolutely delicious, but what always makes the night for me is the staff. The atmosphere in the resturant is fantastic and from the second you arrive you feel welcomed. It's always a great laugh with the waiters and I always leave feeling like I've had a wonderful evening.

Delicious food served hot and quickly considering the restaurant was so busy on bank holiday Monday alongside the eat out incentive. Felt safe enough with adequate room for distancing between the tables and witnessed regular cleaning throughout. Friendly waiter serving the food and lovely waitress serving drinks. Will absolutely go back and happily pay full price.

We thought we would try the eat out to help out on Tuesday. We telephoned as suggested on website for 6.30pm. Arrived on time, seated immediately. It was packed!!!!, as we walked through there was a birthday party of 20 people all on one table. (Covid rules no more than 6 people) Kids freely walking round the restaurant, no social distancing going on as far too many customer in the restaurant at one time to be Covid safe.Seems like they were just interested in making money!!!!

Book a table for 6.30 when we arrived there was a queue to get in stood there for 10 minutes before any one came to us got to table ourderd drinks 5min later ourderd food starter came at 6.50 starter was OK then the big wait at 7.40 asked where the main meel was it's on its way it arrived at 8.00 and we were so disappointed my wife ourderd stuffed chicken brest with feta no feta in sight it was covered with a source now I know it was busy but you can not let standards drop such it what happened needless to say we will not be retuning.

Over the weekend I booked for me & my wife to have an anniversary meal at Istanbul grill on Monday and got a confirmation email on Sunday. I was horrified to received an email with 2 hours notice on the Monday saying “ Due to high demand, we apologise that we can't take your booking for the 11/08/202”Due to high demand there was only 2 of us !!!I can’t believe Istanbul treats it’s customers this way -were left fuming, Anniversary meal cancelled with no time to rearrange, evening ruined.

Had to wait 10 minutes outside, despite booking, if I wanted anything i.e a drink, some sauce, to order I had to get up and find a waiter! Food very average, really plain and basic.We came and used the eat out to help out scheme but they refused to take 50% off, pretty sure they pocketed the difference, I couldn't be bothered to keep arguing over a fiver but felt they had a scam going. I also asked to swap rice for chips as they were the same price and then they said yes and then charged me and wouldn't remove the charge. People were sat half a meter apart from table to table, no social distancing at all!

We had a rare “date night” and decided to try Istanbul Grill. We was greeted by a gent who was unsure where our booked table was, it was quickly sorted and we was seated. Our waiter was lovely! Didn’t catch his name unfortunately. It was pretty busy especially during covid times. The restaurant was clean and tidy. All staff members wore gloves and masks which was great, the only downside was the menus wasn’t wiped cleaned after each use (my menu was dirty) Drinks was nice but not enough, I had a cocktail and it was served in a small martini glass, lovely looking but hardly any drink for the price paid. Food arrived pretty quickly and was piping hot! There wasn’t much flavour to our dishes, we both ordered a mixed grill. I was expecting some lovely Turkish flavour of rice (Istanbul rice) it was just boiled rice. The Turkish bread was delicious and huge!! Staff were attentive and professional, the food was nice but not what I expected, I will try another dish upon my next visit. Overall the staff were brilliant and stuck to the covid “rules” as much as they could especially working in a hot busy restaurant. I also got the vibe that the staff don’t receive much tips :( as our waiter was very very thankful for the tip we left.

Like everywhere else, Istanbul Grill closed in late March with the lockdown. Unlike a number of other local places, they didn’t immediately keep going by offering takeaways and home delivery. But they started doing delivery a few weeks ago, using Deliveroo as an ordering platform but delivering themselves rather than using Deliveroo drivers. We ordered three starters for the two of us. Bog standard stuffed vine leaves, pleasant enough when some lemon was squeezed over them. Patlican salatsi – the long cooked baked aubergine dish that you find all over the Eastern Mediterranean under different names. We are fortunate in this area that four restaurants in Cheadle offer the dish including the two Lebanese places where you’ll find it called makmour. All four make a good version. And, finally, a couple of grilled slices of halloumi and sucuk sausage. Alongside, some excellent bread – light as a feather but still with a bit of texture. Even better than the Turkish bread I buy from the Venus supermarket in Rusholme. There’s also a little tub of seasoned yoghurt (cacik) and another of a fiery chill sauce, to eat with these and the main course.Adana kebab (named after the city) is a long kofta, lightly spiced and, to my mind, perfectly cooked, so it was still moist. This was a very generous plate of food. The kebab sat on more of the bread, which had soaked up some of its juices. To add to the carbs, there was rice. And a salad and a chilli pepper to nibble on. Much as I tried, there was too much to be able to finish.My partner just fancied a very non-Turkish vegetable pizza. It was generously sized and tasted fine.

Our order for delivery was cancelled without explanation and at the last minute. I think that they are just more of a restaurant for on premise food and have tried to adapt to a new way of working without the processes to do so.At the prices (the highest price rating shown on the app) a premium service has to be delivered.

I placed an order from this restaurant through Deliveroo. The order was placed and was told it would be here with 30 minutes. After an hour I called and was rudely spoken to by a male called hasham. I then contacted Deliveroo who informed me that they couldn’t contact the restaurant. We was then told for over an hour and a half that the driver was “ just around the corner “. In the mean time the restaurant updated the app stating that it had been delivered. This amounts to fraud they take your order, take your money and lie for over 2 1/2 hours and no food. Do not order ps this restaurant is also known to Deliveroo and they are actively investigating them. It’s very unfortunate in the current climate and I appreciate everyone’s trying to make a living but to lie and not deliver what I’ve paid for is wrong and illegal!!

When the take way arrived it was nearly cold, chicken dish which should have tomatoes and garlic was just dried hard fillets(£13 it was). Wasn’t worth £50 in total and I could of got a delicious curry for less

Very very nice food and very friendly. I went on a Sunday during a half price special offer they did. The place is very clean and Romantic. Looks like it could be a very busy bar on a Saturday night but maybe I'm wrong. Would definitely go again.

What a shame that on getting home after a great family mealI I discovered that a service charge of nearly £30 had been added to the bill but put right at the top so that I left a further £30 and the waiter saw it but didn’t check that I had really intended to give a %20 tip Id specifically checked the bottom of the bill to see if a charge had been added

Took parents for a meal after visiting the restaurant several times before and it being great to only be left embarrassed and not wanting to return. One of the main dishes was incorrect and a group were brought to the table next to us that the waiters were well aware of and admitted they knew of them but there was “nothing they could do” and we were left unable to have a conversation and also left feeling anxious by the groups behaviour we couldn’t wait to eat and leave. As the owner and waiters were all aware we expected something to be done in way of an apology and it wasn’t, this was very disappointing and I won’t be returning. There are so many nice restaurants in Cheadle and I will use them in future so not left with an expensive bill for such a shocking experience

Our book group meets every 6 months or so in a restaurant and this time chose the Istanbul. Some places don't open on a Monday in Cheadle so this was very welcome. It S pretty spacious and there are discreet areas, so we could be spread around, although I understand that it's pretty busy at the weekend. the staff are friendly and attentive and we're happy to give us information. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding of one of the orders but the staff were very apologetic and did their best to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. It was very comfortable and the food came from an extensive menu, so much to choose from! The place is wheelchair accessible, although I didn't get an chance to see what the toilets were like, so can't tell if they were accessible or not. We had a variety of starters, Falafel, stuffed Aubergine, and prawns in filo pastry. Mains consisted of Moussaka, grilled chicken, Falafel, lamb kebabs, all served with a portion of rice and salad. Coffee finished the meal nicely off and it came to £25 each. It's easy to find, right on the corner in the centre and there is a large, free ( in the evening) car park behind Tesco which is opposite.

Even though it was busy, all the waiters made time to speak to us and were really friendly. The mousakka was so tasty, would highly recommend off the veggie menu. Some people in our group said they could have done with some more sauce with their meals.

We visited the restaurant for my sister's birthday and we were very impressed with the quality of the food, very attentive friendly staff and the lovely surroundings.For starters I had the Lavas bread was huge & delicious and my husband had the Beef Sucuk & Hellumi Skewers which were also very tasty. For main we had Yahni (Paprika Lamb) and Sautéed İstanbul Chicken, again both very nice indeed.Very reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.

Once again we are back at our favourite restaurant on my birthday dinner date. Chilled out relaxed And rushed. Staff excellent always happy and the kitchen serve out favourite dish spot on always. We always enjoy coming so till next time keep up the good service.

Excellent restaurant with helpful friendly staff and an open kitchen. I visit here regularly with my Turkish friends who all say the food is better here than in Turkey. Staff go above and beyond for their customers. Amazing food always my number one go to place for a tasty filling meal and for recommendations for friends.

Went here for the first time on a Saturday night with my wife. The restaurant was extremely busy. It caters to all groups of people including families and larger groups. Its quite big inside but has a very nice feel and ambiance to it. Parking can be a bit of a problem. I suggest you park in the free car park behind Tesco which is just across the road from the restaurant.The staff without exception were very friendly, attentive and efficient. The food was delicious. I had the lamb shank although there was so much choice on the menu. The atmosphere was so good. They make a big thing if its your birthday as everybody is encouraged to sing Happy Birthday while the waiters gather around and bring over a small piece of cake with a sparkler on it I think ! Prices are reasonable in my opinion with a typical starter at £8 and main £16.I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Had excellent meal recently with a large group of friends. Some items marked as containing gluten whereas previously had been gluten free. We asked for crudities instead of bread with the hummus but was told not possible, yet it came with salad! One dish was marked as containing gluten but it was in the rice on the side, not as part of the main meal. Would be easy to offer plain rice or chips instead of limiting options unnecessarily.All in all very good food but allergy menu could be more versatile with very little effort

We had a meal at the Istanbul Grill to celebrate my Mother-in-Laws birthday. Service was excellent. All staff were very friendly yet professional. Food was excellent. Will return.

We went to this restaurant with family and friends to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The staff were very friendly, service was excellent and they accommodated our every need. The food was amazing and a good time was had by all. We'll certainly be returning and recommending to people.

Came with the kids for lunch and firstly the staff were wonderful. We were first in so got a great choice of seating and the chefs made the effort to say hello to the kids which made their day. My youngest is besotted with calamari and had 2 portions it was that good! All the food was tasty, cooked perfectly and grwta quality. Cannot fault yet another wonderful meal here

Will definitely visit again. Food was amazing. Menu choice was so good we didn't know what to choose. Staff were very attentive and made us very welcome. Food delivered in a timely manner. Everything was so nice. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they certainly made the night special even though they didn't know . There were other parties celebrating special birthdays and when they sang "happy birthday" Turkish style it was lovely. Thank you every one of you. We will definitely visit again. Well done.

We were spending the night in Cheadle for a morning flight back to the US and wanted a nice dinner. Istanbul Grill was perfect because it was in a lovely Tudor building but served good Turkish food -- after several weeks in the UK we were a little tired of standard pub fare! The service was excellent and our waiter was charming. If we ever pass that way again we would definitely return.

We visited for lunch today and as always warmly welcomed by all the staff.The restaurant is well managed and spotlessly clean.They have an excellent choice on the menu and special lunch menu .All the dishes are beautifully cooked fresh and served with salads.The atmosphere is calm and relaxed,the service is very good and the waiters are attentive and nothing is too much trouble.Of course we will be back.Highly recommended !
