No desperdicies tu dinero.

Dinner for 3, for a special occasion. We chose Isola Del Sole because we love Sardinian food and wine! We arrived and couldn't figure out how to get in, the door was boarded up and it looked a bit like an abandoned building. We looked through the window and saw that the tables were set so decided to try the handle, it was the entrance, maybe they should get it repaired or put a nice sign on it! We were the only customers as it was early but we were taken right to the back near the serving area. The majority of dishes on the menu is pasta! There were some specials. Without going into too much detail, the pasta is way overpriced for what it is, nothing special. I had the artichoke salad starter, although the flavour of the salad was nice, the artichoke had spiky bristly bits that were unpleasant to eat, I had to dissect it before being able to eat it! My husband had sourdough bruschetta with N’duja, one slice of bread with the n’duja smeared on as if it were jam! £7.25!! He found it difficult to cut up. We all had pasta mains and were not impressed with the flavour, taste or portion size, there was very little sauce on 2 of the dishes and the waiter was very skimpy with the parmesan cheese! We really liked our wine, a red, Erema Siddura! and I tasted my sons dessert, Tiramisu, it was excellent! Otherwise very disappointing! One of the staff members was overly attentive and said ‘as you wish’ way too much! It would seem that the emphasis is on the profit and not the customer or the food!

Lovely small restaurant, just off Putney High Street. I don’t usually dine out in Puntey but I went for dinner following a recommendation from friends who live nearby and are regular fans of this cosy Italian restaurant. For the main, I knew I wanted ravioli and followed the waitress’ suggestion for the pink ravioli with goat cheese and honey (what an amazing combination of flavours!) while my friend had handmade linguini pasta with tiger prawns. Lovely freshly made food, the service was excellent (glad for the suggestions) and the atmosphere was very relaxing. A real treat. Will visit again.

We made a return visit. Some months after our first visit which was excellent. This visit was an overpriced disaster. First time in 46 years as a couple we declined to tip. The bruschetta was nothing of the sort. A tasteless mix of tomatoes and bread. Too many tomatoes and not marinaded, no herbs, no onions, bland. Main course no hot vegetables, only potatoes, as spinach not available. I asked for no salad on main and my wife for a little chilli. We got salad and too much chilli. I did enjoy my swordfish. But £14-90 for tomato and one slice of bread each!! So poor brushetta, Bottle of nice wine, swordfish with potatoes and aglio olio cost £78-20. We are local residents. We will not be back.

We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We chose it only because we needed to meet some friends in Putney and like Italian food. The special of the day was artichokes and one of us had the artichoke salad to start but he found it inedible as they were uncooked and tough. I had ordered tagliatelle with artichokes for my main and was also unable to eat it and left half of it. Twice we were asked if everything was okay and twice we said no as it was almost in edible - and the waiter just smiled and walked away. When it came to our main course, three of our plates were put down in front of us and it was a full 10 minutes before the fourth main meal arrived. The bill was very expensive and no discounts were offered for the poor service. A bitterly disappointing experience.

My artichoke salad was literally inedible (it was to tough - it was like eating wood) and both servers, at different times, asked if I liked it. I told them both that it was inedible and they both just laughed and walked away. Then, when they brought the main courses, three arrived and were left to get cold while we waited a good ten minutes (possibly more) for the fourth. Because of the social circumstances, I couldn’t make a fuss at the time, so I couldn’t feed back, and anyway, I don’t think the servers would have cared, so I just hope the owners see this and discover what is happening in their restaurant.

The restaurant is cosy and located in an inauspicious area of Putney, away from the high street so not instantly an obvious dinner choice in this popular part of town. From the outside, the property looks a little dated and cramped, but this hides it's traditional and homely vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive from the outset- the first table my friend and I were sat at had a slight wobble, but the waiter noticed this and moved us straight away before it had even really come to our attention. We were given a detailed run through of the specials and never felt rushed to make our choices, though predictably they were keen for us to try as many of their delicacies as possible. We skipped starters and went straight to mains, my Wild Boar with Tagliatelle was delightful, not too rich and the flavours of the meat were not dulled by an abundance of sauce. My tastes are slightly more basic than some, so I for one appreciated the pasta being softer, though I know most would probably prefer it slightly more al dente. My friend had the special ravioli of the day (spinach and ricotta), which was also reportedly very nice. There was an extensive wine menu to choose from, I'm not an expert myself but my friend picked an Italian Merlot that was well described in the menu, which was reasonably priced. The overall bill for two mains, a bottle of wine and post meal tea and coffee was a little under £70 in total, which I would say is fairly reasonable for a restaurant of this authenticity. I paid in cash, which I know is fairly unusual these days, but it was a surprise when the waiter apologised that they did not have any change that night. This was not an issue as this covered a tip, but I realise this would be annoying if there was a less enjoyable visit. I have already recommended Isola Del Sole to friends and will continue to do so- this is an enjoyable culinary experience in Putney that made for a very satisfying Thursday evening!

I booked online and when we arrived the restaurant was empty, which was an immediate alarm bell. We were greeted by a very welcoming chap who let us pick our table. We were told what the specials of the day were and ordered a beef carpaccio for a starter and 2 tuna steaks for our main. Whilst reading the very expensive wine list where I would say around 85% of it is in the £38 to £55 range we were told that the tuna steak had sold out, we were the only table in the whole restaurant! We were then told we would be given a main ‘on the house’ as compensation which we thought was a lovely gesture. I ordered the steak (@ £25) and Em ordered the ravioli. Our starters came and the 8 tiny slices of the beef carpaccio felt very mean for £11. Sorry, I can’t remember what Em had as a starter. Then the mains, Em’s ravioli, the pasta was too thick, aldente and with a tasteless filling whereas my steak was also tasteless with what appeared to be tinned mushrooms and super soggy spinach. Still willing to give them a chance we ordered a tiramisu (with the bill) to share which was actually quite nice. Our bill came to £85 for 1 starter (as it turns out we were given a starter on the house, not a main) 2 mains, 1 pud, 3 glasses of house wine and a small bottle of San Pellegrino. If the bill came to £40 I would’ve felt ripped off. It felt like the real chef was on a night off and they got a friend in at the last minute who said he could cook! A truly awful experience food-wise which I will not be repeating, but what really angers me is the other restaurants in the area that I could’ve tried...

Specialist Sardinian restaurant slightly off the beaten track but near an area bustling with restaurants, this is the best Italian dining experience I have found so far in Putney since the peerless Enoteca disappeared from its high street location to even more upscale premises, to be replaced by a Franco Manca. Anyway, Isola’s Sea Breem and Mash Ravioli was pretty interesting, and its selection of wines very good.

I do not write this review lightly however we are extremely disappointed with our experience last night. Three out of the seven main courses were either not available or not as advertised leaving a poor choice. Similar for the wines were most of the lower priced wines ( less than £50 range) were not available. The starters were below average and definitely not value for money. The FEW main choices which were available, in our case we had pasta - was over cooked. Far from al dente. Very average. The quality of the ingredients were however good. Overall below average especially for the price charged . The meal for the two of us came to £120 ( shared pudding and bottle of wine).Would have been happy to pay these prices however definitely NOT for this poor experience. Also where was the owner/ patron? Usually in these cosy small places you expect someone to be “In Charge” to answer to all these dissapoinents we faced yesterday. Where were you? I do not normally like writing bad reviews and would have been happy to discuss all these points but apart from the two hard working waiters no one in charge was to be seen at any point. The two waiters working for the restaurants were excellent and very professional especially the chap from Torino. I don’t like writing such bad reviews however I just feel I was just cheated £120 .

Nice quite place off the high street in putney for lunch. The day I was there it was very quiet. The lunch menu has a choice of 6 or 7 mains but there should be something for everyone. The food was good but I would have liked a little more quantity. Nice range of desserts also. Not the cheapest place that I have ever had lunch - expect to pay £10 - £15 for mains and around £7 for dessert.

Such a disappointing meal. Pricey ...and really inexplicably they seem to add loads of salt to everything in the kitchen ...instead of having salt and pepper on table ! I’ve never ,even in cheap restaurants had salad covered in salt and the asparagus almost inedible because of added salt .Why ???? we regularly holiday in Sardinia and nowhere have we had a bad meal ...even the most inexpensive places. The halibut was delicious ...however the spinach and accompanying veg were again over salted.Just such a shame We will not be returning

We were four of us meeting for a special birthday. The restaurant was empty and not a nice atmosphere. The anti pasti was grisely and was not worth the price. The three of us ordered Ravioli and I ordered Tagliatelli. When the dish arrived I felt ashamed as there was not enough on the plate, especially for the two men. I had to share my dish when the others finished theirs in no time as the dish was so small. We were charged £15.00 each for corkage which I think was a rip-off. I will never go there again.

The main course was disappointing my langoustine pasta didn't contain any langoustines, just over cooked mushy prawns and my partners pasta with crab had next to no crab in it and at £16-17 a dish this is outrageous! The service was very quick but felt too quick as if they were trying to squeeze us in and get us out as quick as possible. The menu was quite short and listed mainly pasta, with a preponderance of mushroom dishes. And special of the day was...? - more mushrooms. The only meat item among the main courses, apart from a regular steak, was a rabbit dish and although we were the first customers in the restaurant when we tried to order it the response was "Sorry, the rabbit is off". Drinks ordering was fairly shambolic. Water arrived long before the requested ice. One person ordered a Campari & Orange and was brought a glass of Campari with a slice of orange in it. When this was pointed out the server went away and returned with a separate glass of orange juice. Weird. It must be said that both the food and the wine were savagely expensive for what they were.Just to add to the experience the temperature in the restaurant must have been well over 80 degrees F. No air conditioning or proper ventilation. And the server had a distinct aroma of cigarette smoke. At the end of the evening I was so disappointed that I paid for the whole party in embarrassment, this being a situation where we would normally split the bill 50/50. Over £200 (before any tip) for 4 people, three of whom ate pasta, and some wine/drinks. Having said all that, such food as they had available was really quite good and the wine was decent quality. But will I be going back again? No. Based on my experience It is regrettably impossible to recommend this restaurant. There are many better, and less expensive, restaurants in the area.

I'm normally a reader rather than a writer here on trip advisor but after reading a recent review I felt compelled to write a response. I've been going to Isola for over 5 years now because it is genuinely one of the only places that does what it preaches: fresh pasta and fresh food. And I, for one, think this is a priceless quality for a restaurant to have. One of the many reasons my family and I love this hidden gem of a place is because there's no fuss, just quality to each carefully selected dish. The artichoke and bottarga tagliatelle is just one example of a delicious, no fuss dish that simply works because of the homemade pasta being emphasised by the subtle and interesting mix of flavour that comes from the two main ingredients. In a time where everything is frozen, mass manufactured and "fast", Isola del Sole is a nice reminder that there are still independent restaurants committed to great and real food.

The feel of the place is really intimate and low key, the staff know what they're talking about and we had some fabulous Cannonau wine to go with our meal. The menu is selective which meant everything on there was both in season and of quality, the chocolate mousse for desert was divine and my boyfriend tried the classic Sardinian desert called Seadas which was a real delightful surprise. All in all, a really great visit - will definitely be back.

Wine prices ridiculous, food not particularly well prepared. Chose a starter for 2 and expected more than a crisp wafer with Parma ham and sausage slices with half a dozen dried tomatoes. Nearly £20!Mains weren't too much better. Chose fish which arrived 10 minutes before anyone else's and was served with cold tomatoes as the side. Bit strange. The steak, though nicely cooked, was plain and had a bunch of rocket on the side with no dressing and stalks left on. Burnt potato crisps were a side. Daughter's dish was the pasta - very meagre. And sitting on a rickety wooden school like chair added insult to injury. Shame for an 18th birthday meal. Restaurants like these need to up their game. Greedy beyond belief.

While I was out of town, my boyfriend went to eat at isola del sole by himself on Saturday night. It was about half 7 and he was quickly seated in the nearly empty restaurant. He was hungry and tired as we just moved into the neighborhood and ordered a beer and was ready to enjoy his meal quickly. The host then came to his table towards the back of the restaurant and asked if he had a reservation - he said no and the host proceeded to tell him he would have to leave bc of incoming reservations. Why had he been seated if they could not accommodate one more diner? patrons in the restaurant looked on in horror as he was asked to leave the near empty restaurant. He was told he could finish the beer he had been served but at that point he felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable. It's a shame bc we are new to putney and eat out often. I think the true quality of a restaurant is showed in how they treat locals who just want a nice bite to eat and drink - kicking those people out for larger parties who will rack up a bigger tab is unacceptable from both a management perspective and as a local business in the community. We will not return!

The food was entirely adequate however nothing to write home about especially for the price. We were also served far too quickly, which may seem like a good thing however we were celebrating a birthday and felt as though they were just trying to turn over more covers that night. Also due to the speed of the service it also raises questions about the 'freshness' in relation to the pre-cooking and preparation of a lot of the components of the dishes that were served. This place was NOT bad however it does essentially over promise and under deliver.

It's a cosy family-run place in a small room in a Putney side street. One of the middle-aged gents sitting at a table right at the front turned out to be the owner when his fiend passed him the post after it had been placed nearby. It feels a bit overwhelmed by the trendy glass expanse of a new Indian restaurant next door. For lunch there is a discrete menu with quite a substantial number of starters culminating in a shared meat and cheese platter. Instead we shared a creamy burrata sitting on an aubergine paste. For mains virtually every dish apart from fish of the day (today sea bass with mushrooms) is a pasta dish. But judging by those we sampled mighty fine examples, particularly my gnocchi with a venison ragout. There is a ravioli of the day, today with mashed potatoes which sounded quite eccentric. It's not cheap, but feels quite select, and it is in Central Putney.

We ordered the PORCHETTA and PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE for starters, both prepared beautifully, particularly the Parmigiana which unlike most restaurants was not over cooked. The mains, Ravioli and the LINGUINE BOTTARGA E GAMBERI were a joy and followed by a wonderfully tasty Pannacotta.I have no idea how anyone could not rate this restaurant, if portions are the the only criteria then we should all eat at a very cheap buffet. From the outside, it looks cozy and inviting. Thoughts of starched tablecloths, a warm greeting by a family and superb food beckoned. Instead was a bland and shabby interior, no family greeting and certainly no tablecloths. I can live with all of that. But when the food is really poor, it ruins the whole thing. My starter of Baked aubergine with tomato, basil and parmesan was baked to death. Dry, and lifeless with any hint of moisture blasted out of it. The main course of Wild Boar Ragout comprised lumps of salty mince with hardly any flavour, But served so piping hot as only a microwave can. Even the Cannonau wine was below par. The only saving grace was the helpful (if inexperienced) girls serving us. Charming and resilient they remained despite having to serve such such poor food.

Just pass buy few days ago. The food here is amazing. It relies on great flavours and interesting combinations and is not fussy and over the top. Wonderful. The service was terrific. Very attentive but not in an in-your-face kind of way. Excellent value for money too.

Been there several times since it opened...a mixture of romantic meals with my wife, team lunch with my colleagues, dinners with important (and very picky) clients from the US...every occasion has been perfect! Sometimes the service is a little slow but I understand the food it's prepare from scratch so not a big issue. It really is a great place to eat for almost any occasion...Don't miss out the excellent Home-made Crab Tagliatelle and the Tiramisu

I walked in by chance last Sunday coming back home and I have found a lovely small Italian restaurant, where you can taste the real Sicilian flavours....I got some caserecce alla Norma and Caponata that have taken me back in the hearth of Sicily. The caponata is a must have!!!!The lights were a bit too low, however we enjoyed the service and the familiar atmosphere. If you're chasing a bling bling place, not your cup of tea, however if you're seeking for excellent quality/price ratio and a friendly treat, then have a try.

I went to this restaurant based on the fact that I'd walked past it previously and it looked quite nice, but to be honest that was a mistake. I wasn't impressed. Initially it looks lovely and has a nice quaint atmosphere but before long I realised that the quality of the place was lacking. The table we were given was really wobbly, like earthquake wobbly and so I tried to fix it whilst the staff basically looked on. There was no assistance forthcoming until I asked! My wife and I shared a burrata which was fine but pretty average and lacked much taste. I had the prawns linguine which was very average and actually not amazing. My wife had the Sardinian couscous with Tiger Prawns which was again pretty average. For desert we got the cheese which was quite small and quite expensive. The staff were ok but not great. Overall my impression of this place was that it could be great but fell quite a bit short.

Potential to be a lovely place but something was just not right, it seemed unorganised with inexperienced staff. The food was nice but nothing special, I struggled to find any crab in my pasta dish. For what you get it is very expensive there are much better restaurants in Putney offering better value too. The food was served on cold plates which did not help. After the meal I used the bathroom facilities which were very substandard , they were broken and dirty which is a poor reflection on the hygiene standards maintained.

What a beautiful cosy restaurant where you can delve into some amazing Mediterranean dishes! I have been here a number of times and they have never failed to impress me. The food is just exquisite and the service always brilliant - such friendly welcoming staff that really know what they are doing and ensure your dining experience is as pleasant as possible. Every dish is a burst of wonderful flavours and food types I would never usually think to combine that just work so well. I cant wait to come back and see what new specials they have to offer!

I feel compelled to write a counter review to the one I have just seen. I have been eating in this restuarent for years and it is consistently excellent. I have lived in the area for over 30 years and locals always say this is one of their favourite restaurants. The owners and chefs take extraordinary care in selecting ingredients and preparing food. I don't believe there is any other restaurant in the whole of Putney that makes such good fresh pasta. I even heard a story that Carluccio's wife would regularly eat here because she recognised that the pasta was so much better and authentic than the dried fare they served in her husband's chain restaurent. Whether true or not, I for one have only ever eaten superbly well here.

The food, if you could call it that, was EXTREMELY expensive for a pasta dish suitable for a two year old. Yes the portions are so tiny you leave hungry that's even with the so called starter.Mine was a supposed linguini with crab and prawns well you could see some prawns no crab the pasta was smaller then my fist and close to £18. My boyfriend and his friend ordered a different pasta again minute size meat....non existant also very expensive, interesting to note that as I walked to the toilets other tables had ordered the same and the portions where double I felt like saying something. Our friend sent back the first bottle of wine as it was like vinegar the second one was no better and I'm still suffering from a migraine from last night. This has got to be th most EXPENSIVE OUTRAGEOUSLY AWFUL meal I've EVER HAD. We were hungry afterwards and had to grab a panini out of a Marks and Spencer's motorway on the way home from London yesterday. Do yourself a favour and save yourself money too.... Do your research and don't touch this place. The overall quality outlook service and attitude of staff and management is below poor. What a waste of money and time we will NEVER go again nor recommend anyone It's a joke really a tennis ball or smaller of Pasta for £17:89

First went to this restaurant many years ago and always thought it was something special. Where the food will still not disappoint, I found the potions to be small and service was not a high standard. It had lost its touch of class, and Sardinian warmth. At one point I asked for an ichnusa beer only for the waitress to ask what it was, and they were obviously not clear on their own menu. Again, food quality is excellent but at fine dinning prices, menu is limited and at those prices expect better service. There are better value for money Italian restaurants at equal quality in my opinion in putney.

I visited Isola with a friend again last week (it was some months since my last visit) and was not disappointed. We had an excellent meal - Brushetta and Burrata for starters, followed byTagliatelle with wild boar ragout for both of us and strudel and sorbet for deserts. Each course was prepared with care and flair and made a delightful evening. The service from the two waiters was excellent - smiley, efficient, but not over-fussy with constant enquiries as to whether 'everything was alright' and no over-zealous pouring of wine. Most tables were taken even on a Thursday evening so booking appears to be essential.

I took 13 family members and friends here for my 60th birthday celebration. The staff were very attentive without being obtrusive. The food was amazing - I can really recommend the mozarella and bacon starter and the tagliatelle with wild boar main. And to top it all they made a chocolate birthday cake which was served with ice cream. My guests and I had a fantastic time thanks to Massimo and his wonderful staff. A big thanks to all of you especially Gerda who looked after our table.

Really good addition to the Putney restaurant scene. Simple Regional Italian cuisine from Sardinia....Beautifully made fresh homemade pasta and starters. My only worry when I booked the restaurant was that the menu looked as if the food might be too heavy as we were recovering after eating too much at Christmas! In fact there are some lighter dishes and the prawn cocktail and swordfish were both delicious. The service was very friendly and we will be back next year.

Good morning ! I am the chef at Isola Del sole sheen lane . About miss NAS N comment about the dish ordered from this person . Just to let you know , the food was well discrabed on the menu ( salted salmon filet served with potato tarttlet and baked cherry tomatoes . ) it was clear . If you do not appreciate the dish I can understand it . But complaining with out foundation it just means you have a very poor taste . Also in the same time was served the same dish for another table and was well appreciated . Well she was served with another pasta dish with prawns , that unfortunately was offered by my manager free of charge to her . About our wine . They are good selection from sardegna . If you would like to bring in your own wine list you find surching on Internet , you are well come . Also I can see miss NAS N have made many complaining about others restorants even abroad . I think maybe you have to do food critic . What about the Chinese take way ?

I went here about a year ago with my partner, her having recently moved to the area and thought we would give this little Italian place a go. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was exceptional, the first time it was quiet and intimate with just a few guests on a Tuesday night, candle lit tables with excellent service throughout the whole experience. The second time, it was busier and more buzzing (potentially having been noticed after a few more positive reviews here) but still it maintained a perfect atmosphere where they've done very well to combine intimacy through the lighting, table layout and attentiveness of staff with a nice buzz about the place that doesn't leave you worried and looking for a reason as to why you're the only guests. As for the food, unfortunately my only memory of the first experience was the wild boar ragout and the tiramisu which was possibly one of the best I've tasted.I was quite nervous as having been to Tuscany and Venice in the past year and having exclaimed that I still count this place to be the best Italian I've tasted, I wasn't sure if the memory would be better than the reality. In summary, it was not. We started with one of the specials which was a soft cheese from the mozzarella family wrapped in parma ham, served with some broad beans. It was exquisite, the cheese excellent, perfectly paired by a glass of smooth red wine, at a reasonable cost of £4.75 a glass for the house red. I then went back to the ragout to see if it lived up to the memory and again I was not disappointed. The pasta was excellently done, just slightly al dente with the meat being soft, flavourful and a reasonable portion still leaving me wanting more. My partner had the crab linguine and although I only received one small taste, I can conclude comfortably that the place is not a one dish restaurant. Finally the tiramisu, soft, excellently flavoured and just the right size for two to share after a good sized meal. The bill came to approximately £50 which, for a starter, two mains, a dessert and two glasses of wine, seemed very reasonable given the quality of everything.I will definitely be going back.

My husband and I had dinner here with friends and whilst the food was OK the service was odd. The rather fierce waitress insisted on telling everyone how many dishes there were left of each item so that you ended up feeling you were in competition with your fellow diners. I was not sure if either of the waitresses understood the word service it was more like being back at school and being ordered around. A great shame as I am sure with better service it could be a great restaurant. Service with a smile is always appreciated.

This review is for their East Sheen restaurant, not Putney. The food is really excellent, not cheap, but worth it. We were quite hesitant about trying the restaurant, because the site has changed hands a few times recently, but this was very good. I would only suggest that the male member of staff smile a little more, and there is clearly a tendency for the staff to stick by the bar chatting, which I suppose is the downside of having a bar area. Also, if you have a table by the bench area, the bench is higher than the chairs, so someone in the party is going to feel very small!

We cannot complain about the food on our visit here tonight but we had to endure who we assumed to be the manager having a hissy fit at some of the staff. This was not a discreet word in their ear! One girl was visibly upset and the other was so so furious with him that when handing us our bill, her hands were shaking. I decided to tell one of the staff that I thought that it was unprofessional, his reply was "I agree". When the manager joined the conversation he tried to brush over the situation by saying I was mistaken. I firmly told him that I certainly was not mistaken & that I thought it was most unpalatable. His reply, "this is the Italian way". I am disappointed that the evening ended this way but feel that this needs to be addressed. We expected better of this establishment.
