Superb Sunday lunch excellent service as they were catering for 240 people for Sunday Lunch. Ample proportions , prices reasonable. Only one small thing the plates were too small for quantity of food, but the manager told me they have ordered bigger plates

Nice food. Good quality, but the price went up, and portions are now really small. Using smaller plates. Lamb chewy. Gammon is really nice. Need to revert to original dinners to keep customers, or they will go elsewhere.

We arrived for lunch with my elderly mum, really good disabled facilities and easy for my mum to feel more comfortable. She thoroughly enjoyed her scampi and chips. My ham salad was huge together with new potatoes and coleslaw. All in all very enjoyable, the only reason didn't give it 5 stars was some of the choices weren't available on the day, that didn't spoil our lunch. Give it a try it's well worth it.

Went to this venue on Sunday 9 th December . Restaurant beautifully decorated for Christmas , and had a fabulous 3 course lunch for the great value of £ 13.50 . My wife and I had lamb dinner followed by apple pie .I had delicious garlic mushrooms for starters while my wife had vegetable soup . Service was great and I would highly recommend this venue .

Went with a small group and discovered a generous free car park, a viewing gallery behind glass, and a large open plan eating area, plus smaller areas if you just want a quiet(ish) drink. The food was very good (we all had different meals) and served in record time, though we had ordered in advance.

Good lunches and bar snacks at good prices. Drinks also fairly priced. Follow brown tourist signs to get there, and free parking. Good venue for indoor bowling also.

We held my parents diamond wedding party at the bowls club last night. The 3 course meal was simply stunning. A special thanks to Lianne who helped set the room up for us and was very accommodating. Apologies but I found your sellotape in my bag this morning. I would highly recommend this venue for special events, it’s reasonably priced for excellent service. Thank you.

Lovely setting but I always find it s not dark inside and you seem to struggle to see what you have on your plate. Freshly prepared and piping hot food, with a choice of at least 3 meats to choose from. Usual veg and roast and boiled potatoes with lashing of gravy. Usually choose the trifle for dessert if I have room but all in all fab meal always

A massive thank you to Leanne and her husband for helping us organise a small do for my mum's 80th birthday. They were both helpful and obliging and nothing was too much trouble.Thank you too to Michelle and the young bar maid who was on duty on the evening. The buffet was fresh and plentiful.A younger staff is just what is needed in the Bowls Club. Older staff are sometimes set in their ways and maybe less ambitious to encourage new clientel. A small gripe was that we would have had to have paid £5 a table for white table clothes. While I understand laundry need to be paid for this seemed very expensive.

Good reviews prompted us to book Sunday lunch for 4 adults and 2 young ones. The restaurant is clean, bright and not cramped. We had a table where we could sit around in comfort without the buggy and high chairs being a problem for us or others. Soup starter was lovely, the prawn cocktail not special. Good traditional Sunday lunch with the meat served on the plate and vegetables in dishes - quantity ample. Three of us had pork and two had beef - the pork was very good (apart from rubbery crackling) and the beef was excellent. Desserts were not great. We will return because it's a really friendly place and very good value compared with many around.

I had my surprise 60th birthday party, where almost all of my family attended, there were some 42 people in attendance, somewhat small for the size of the venue, but having eaten at parties I have organised myself in the past I expected good service, food, and to be looked after by the staff. I have to say I wasn't disappointed, the evening went well, the food and service was very good, all the food came out quite quickly, and no one was left waiting too long for their meal. Hear's to the next time.

You will not be disappointed if you have a meal here, for it is well laid out clean, and the staff are very friendly, especially the young man behind the bar,for in our many visits I have never seen him anything but helpful and polite. The food is VERY like home cooked, and the omelets are are prepared just the way you like them and with a variety of fillings. Keep a look out for the specials board, for the value is exceptional. Sunday roasts are good, and the main room also doubles as a function room for wedding etc.

Having been to the bowls club restaurant many times over the past 5 years I must admit u will not find a btter place 2 eat . The food is ALWAYS superb with a wide variety of choice, the service is excellent every time and NOTHING is too much trouble . My nephew had his wedding reception there and my daughter has just had her 7th birthday party there , having previously had her 6th there too and every time EVERYTHING is spot on. We have also been there for numerous small family meals and popped in many times for a quick lunch, each time u receive a warm welcome and lovely food. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, spacious and modern and if myself or any other family member decide to go for a meal we go here everytime . I would highly recommend this establishment, you will not be disappointed !!

Much like a fancy sports car, the fantastic atmosphere and buzz means that you usually hear the excitement before you see it. And, sticking with the sports car metaphor, it plays on the attention it gets as more and more people are going to see what the fuss is about. That fuss is over decent food, great coffee, great prices and professional helpful staff all based within an environment that defines the lane-ways of Islwyn. Just like the fancy sports car the food is very well presented, mouth watering, great value for money and a trip well worth booking!

Have held many a family party at the club since my wedding in 2014, that was conducted in a very professional way with a wedding co-ordinator in attendance throughout the day. The food was excellent and the staff second to none. We had my mother's golden wedding there this year and we could not fault it, and Sunday lunch is the best we've had in the area. Don't be afraid to visit the club just for a coffee, or your large function, very friendly and all the staff very obliging.

Unfortunately the standard of service was very poor when we visited for an 80th birthday party tonight. The booking was made for 30 people to eat at 7pm with all meals ordered in advance however it took so long for all meals to be brought out some people on the table had finished their meals before others had even received their order. They also had a member of our party serving tables as they didn't have enough waiting staff. After the main course it took forever to have the plates cleared and we had to enquire at the bar about the possibility of desserts. These were farcical as the desserts received were nothing like what was ordered. The trifle was a cake and the white chocolate and raspberry cake was a lemon cheesecake. Staff assured us they were correct. 5 members of the party didn't even get their desserts and gave up at 9pm. Although the food was a fair quality (portion sizes varied greatly!) we had very poor service from what can be a quality establishment. Will not be visiting again anytime soon.

We were visiting family and decided to pop in for Sunday lunch. We had our engagement party here 14 years ago and so it holds happy memories. The roast dinner was fabulous and as close to a home cooked roast as you can get. Service was brilliant and all for a good price. We will definitely come back. We've spread the word and other family are trying it out too.

Booking in this place is essential on a Sunday. Had lunch here today as a party of five. Despite it being so close to Christmas, they had not artificially increased the prices of their Sunday lunch menu. Three courses for £11 - too good to be true? No!! Each course was excellent value for money. Even if you had settled for the main course only, this would only have cost £7.The soup was just right, neither too spicy or bland. There was a choice from four meats for the main course, and the meats were properly roasted rather than the processed, rolled meats some places serve up. Plenty of veg and potatoes provided in tureens. Nice gravy too. Reasonable selection of desserts. Drinks are not too pricy either. Well worth a visit.

Attached to a large indoor bowls rink, the restaurant is competitively priced and has a typical menu that you might find down the local pub. The atmosphere is unlike your local pub though. The room is large and it caters mainly for bowlers and their friends and family. It has a number of specials and is trying to attract regular customers and the age profile of diners tends to be that of most bowls clubs, i.e., 65+.On the day I visited I chose a chicken Korma which was served up with Naan bread but no popadom or chutney. The portion of rice was large and the chicken was in large chunks-plenty of it but very unimaginative, it could have done with some little extras to spice it up a bit. It was a weekday lunch time and so it was very quiet, except for some banter between some of the staff and some regular customers. Compared with other places in the area you could do a lot worse but don't expect unusual dishes or high standards of service. The venue is often booked for private parties and so its best to phone if you have a large group.

Basic even though the menu is very large. The steak was well done although i ordered it when asked at the bar as medium rare, the chips were a very small portion. Quite expensive for 3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts with 6 soft drinks coming in at over £85. Odd parking which you have to pay for then get refunded one you've bought a drink or meal in the pub, plenty of parking though is available. Roomy inside & comfortable, clean toilets.

This was not our first visit, unfortunatly we were not impressed this time,I could not fault food at all. We ordered the beef and requested horseradish sauce, they had run out!! we then ordered coffee which was only instant coffee, the coffee machine was out of order,we were,nt informed of this until it arrived, and was presented with 1/4 of a tea spoon of suger, and was told thats all they had, after complaining that we could not drink it like that some was found. We found the pub very cold to the point of being uncomfortable. Very disappointing.

Called in here on the off chance and we was greeted by the 2 lovley owners Tony and Lowrie, and really pleasant bar staff. Really welcoming and nothing you ask is too much. A lovley old pub with a warm homely feel. My children were made to feel really welcome and the pub is also dog friendly. The pub has a lovley size beer garden outfront and a park the kids could play in. And because it was evening time the garden was lit up with all the lovley lights. The food was amazing and a nice varied menu to choose from. Prices were fair aswell tbh. They have a large screen and a few tvs dotted around which they show sky sports from and they said they do different things for the children at different times like halloween time etc. All in all a lovley few hours out. Will defo be going back. Thank you Lowrie, Tony and team.

The best breakfast I've had in a long time. The added bonus was that I caught a glimpse of the red headed hottie walking upstairs with a plant in his hand! Does he work in your cafe, if not he really should, he'd bring the ladies in!
