From a warm welcome by the staff, to excellent food served, this café is one of the loveliest I have ever been to. Perfect for couples, families, friends and solo outings... oh and dogs are welcome too!

After a lukewearm reception (well we were in our walking gear) it got a lot better. The staff were lovely, the food delicious and the coffee excellent. And (by todays standards) not expensive. We will be back.

Last reviewers experience didn’t match ours at all. Food was excellent (lunchtime), service was good, staff were helpful. Wish I had come earlier because the Breakfast menu sounded great 👍

Worst coffee shop I've ever been in. Liquid scrambled eggs and bad attitude. Staff talk about the customers behind the counter and have 0 manners

I have had the lovely pleasure of visiting here on multiple occasions. The food choices have developed over time and the prices remain reasonable. Mostly all of the staff are polite and attentive, on a couple of occasions one younger lady can appear unfriendly and gives off unpleasant vibes. It’s not always but I have to be honest. This is why it’s not 5 stars. I did visited with my family the other Saturday and service was spot on, we were super impressed.

Fab food, really tasty. The cafe and facilities are spotless and staff are all so friendly, helpful and kind. The cafe has an all around good feeling, I’ve seen people on their own with laptops working, and also family friendly. Isabella’s is my go to place for me to visit on my own with my one year old daughter, the milkshakes are lovely. Thank you Angela for creating a lovely friendly atmosphere and always making us feel welcome!

Called in when passing; I don't know the area or cafe so I was surprised to find a place like this where it is, but I thought it was excellent and was very impressed. Attentive staff, good menu, food was excellent. Had two young children with me, often both fussy and one with food allergies. Staff able to help find something suitable for them to eat, and they ate it all! Looked a good selection of cakes and treats but we didn't get any today. Will definitely return.

Lovely cosy atmosphere with mix of families, couples & cyclists/take out. Great choice of savoury food and amazing cakes. Well priced with friendly service. Is an upstairs seating area too. Now we've found it we will be using on a regular basis! You can also pick up some local crafts too!

Me and my sister had afternoon tea here today. Got to say it was one of the nicest ones I’ve ever had. Every single thing on the tray was delicious. The two young girls who were serving were absolutely lovely and jumped through hoops to make us feel welcome. Beautiful and clean and the toilets are immaculate. I will 100% be back for another visit

This is a great cafe with friendly staff who will always help. We frequently order lunch over the phone and pop down to get it for a takeaway between a busy work day. The special event for the Spanish evening with friends was lovely, great food with wine. Looking forward to the next events we have booked.

My husband has already visited Isabella's on two other occasions with family members, however this is the first time I have had availability to go, we don't live too far so walked into the village. I felt that it was a very bright space plenty of light and the decor was in keeping with a village coffee shop. We took a seat downstairs and my husband had a look at the cakes, we ordered a chocolate cake and orange cake with tea and coffee, the chocolate cake came with a little jug of cream which I thought was a lovely touch, and both cakes tasted amazing. Very reasonably priced, the staff are lovely and friendly, Hopefully I will get to visit again soon, highly recommended!

This coffee shop is in the centre of Shotley Bridge an area on the outskirts of Consett in County Durham. There is access to the shop directly from the main road not sure if a wheelchair would get through the doors. There is a car park on the other side of the road and bus stops with a good service very close. You would have to park cycles on the other side of the road as well. The man coffee shop is on the ground floor on two levels with a low step up to the counter. There is another room upstairs. Isabella’s serves light meals, soup, tray bakes and cakes which look very good. They have vegan treats as wellRecommended for coffee and a light lunch

I live in Shotley Bridge and visit Isabellas at least once a week. The shop is clean, modern and welcoming and the staff are very helpful. I'm self employed so I also meet clients there for a coffee and the use of their free wifi is always a bonus. I'd recommend trying their delicious carrot cake and cream tea - they're amazing and great value for money too!

Lovely little coffee shop selling very nice coffee and cakes. Not sure if they do other stuff also. Friendly staff. Stayed at the Derwent Manor hotel and a nice country walk from the hotel to the village where the coffee shop is situated.

I have been a customer at Isabella's several times over the past few weeks visiting family in the village. The service, coffee and cheese scones were so good we went back for lunch on at least 3 occasions. The staff were most helpful on each visit and the whole cafe is spotless and was also beautifully decorated for Hallowe'en. Local artists have their paintings for sale- a lovely touch.Highly recommend!

This has newly opened in the village so is perhaps just finding its feet. I made my first trip this week for morning coffee and sad to say, wasn't very impressed. It's part of the old? Co Operative buildings - a really characteristics building with lovely large, arched windows and an old fashioned door. It's been painted "grey" which is the current trend for restaurants/ cafes. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the lack of atmosphere. There were actually quite a few people inside, but the high ceilings make it echoey, and it would have been better if there was some gentle background music. It's the sort of place where you are afraid to have a conversation as everyone else can hear your conversation. There were about 4 tables, and a long bar with stools at the window. I hadn't realised until later that there are more tables and some settees and a children's area upstairs. They could do with a sign pointing upstairs indicating more seating and the toilets.I sat at a table for 2, facing the doorway. I was struck by the "shoddiness" of the decor. Everything looked slightly unfinished. There was some sort of cable/ electric box inside the doorway which really should have been boxed in. They could have coat hooks, an umbrella stand or a nice little dresser near the door which would make it more welcoming. The walls hold a display of pictures by a local artist which are very good and reasonably priced, and more prints were available to browse through in a stand. The counter is at the rear of the cafe. Menus are on the table and you have to order at the counter, then pay when you leave. In such a small cafe, I think table service would be more appropriate. The menu is limited - I can't remember everything, but mostly scones, cakes, traybakes and sandwiches I think.I had a cheese scone which was large, but not particularly tasty, and rather doughey. I wouldn't have that again. The coffee is by Pumphreys. I had a large black Americans and it was HUGE. Very nice coffee.I noticed that everything was reasonably priced. My scone and coffee came to around £3.60.I paid a visit to the toilets upstairs. The ladies is an awkward shaped room. A small unit holding paper hand towels and baby change items had been positioned in the corner and made it difficult to actually sit on the loo! The toilet roll was loose rather than fixed to the wall. The paper towels were just loose on the unit rather than in a dispenser. When I came out of the ladies, a print had dropped off the wall, exposing a hole in the wall with electric fittings. The print had been stuck up with bluetac. While I was in I was able to connect to the free WiFi , so spent quite a bit of time on my phone. Someone else was using their laptop.Someone came in for takeaway coffee and food. Someone else came in, browsed the menu and walked out.I hope this is a successful venture. It has the potential to be a nice meeting place, but it appears to have been done in a hurry. Several coffee shops have come and gone in Shotley Bridge. Sadly, because there is no parking on the road outside, it is unlikely to attract people driving through the village. You need to know it is there and know where to park further up the road.My experience was average and I am unlikely to visit again.
