Although we went early for a 12pm lunch, the people were friendly and helpful, lunch was great (had the beef sandwich dip). Best beer in the world imho. The Canadian Cherrywood special was even better. Why don’t more breweries age their beer???

Absolutely loved our experience at Innis & Gunn in Edinburgh! We ordered the steak frites and were blown away — not only was the steak cooked perfectly, but we got free refills on both the steak and the frites (yes, seriously!). The gravy deserves its own shoutout — it was insanely good and tied the whole dish together. The vibe was great, the staff were friendly, and honestly, it felt like such good value for the quality. Can’t wait to go back!

Quiet time of day , Monday after 4pm. A very good selection of beers. Staff great help when choosing beer. Decided to eat here too. Burger and fries great. Steak and garlic fries deal is super duper tasty. You get a free 2nd portion too. Nearly forgot to take a photo, this is part way through the 2nd portion. Steak is so lean and tasty. Certainly full now, but I did share some of the 2nd plate. Had a few different drinks . Enjoy 😉

Visited for food and was very disappointed. Ordered a Ceaser salad with added chicken, the only thing that was edible was the lettuce. Not even a sliver of Parmesan on top. Chicken was inedible and appeared to have been deep fried more than once. Would not recommend for food. Did mention to staff that the chicken was inedible however just shrugged off........Good selection of beers

I really enjoyed my meal here and was pleasantly surprised at how this place operates. I had the steak frites (pink) which comes with a special sauce (it could have been a touch warmer) but when they include a free amuse-bouche, a free drink, a free second plate of steak, frites and sauce (which was a lot warmer) then you can't really complain. You can also get free unlimited frites just in case you're still hungry.

Steak frites special is a real bargain. The service is appaling though. Only time the waiters ever came over was to drop the food off and we waited 10 mins before we were served when sat down at a booked table . The cheek to then add a 12 percent service charge to the bill at the end.

This was a pre booked meal. We arrived to find it empty, but our reserved seating was right next to the door on a cold and windy night, which was irritating. The staff, however, were excellent, as was the beer choice. The food was what you'd expect, but what made it interesting was the unlimited steak and chips, which my two sons tucked into, as did I. It was delivered with a beer sauce, and it comes with the rest of the beer in a schooner. It was delicious, and once the plate was empty, it was refilled. Note that it took a while, I assume they expect you to order drinks while waiting. My wife got the vegetarian option and declared it extremely good, and the daughter loved her burger too. All in all, recommend especially the unlimited steak option as it was really rather good, and a solid bargain.

A great selection of beers and the original and rum cast are fantastic. I get a weird vibe from the staff, however, who at best feel detached and at worst seem judgy. The steak frites deal is fantastic to fill your stomach and I was ecstatic to see Timothy Taylor Landlord on the menu, although it seems like it's gone for now. There are no other pubs in Edinburgh that do the extended Innis and Gunn range on tap so I'm torn about whether to return here or not because I get such a weird vibe from the staff

I am not sure why this place has such high rating, it is definitely not worth 4.4. Food is very average, burgers are small, and patty is even smaller, it was hard to find it in a bun which supposed to be with sesame, but this was missing. What is more, burger was cold when I get it. Which is strange, as we were the only gusts at the time, so not sure why it took so long to get cold food? Burgers simply look sad :( Chips were nice though, hot and crispy. Pub is big and not very cosy. Good place for big gatherings.

I worked hospitality in edinburgh for 18 years and I’ve never seen a sharper decline in quality and value for money. Admittedly, I’m now only in licensed premises a handful of times a year, but I only exited last year so I’m still in touch with it all. The Tap Room I was keen to visit as I’ve done so much work with InG over the years I’m a massive fan of the story and the guys who started it all. Firstly - I get some places do 2/3 of pints. These are usually speciality or high ABV items, but to have a bog standard option like Jubel sitting at £6 for 2/3 of a pint. Embarrassing. This is widely available around the city and is minority owned by Tennents . There are a few other standard options going for expensive pint prices but only served as 2/3 pint. Secondly - the pints are flat. I think they know the pints are bad but will try and gaslight you. My pint was as flat as a glass of water. There were no bubbles. I told the bartender who faked surprise and said he would get the gas checked. They didn’t. The bar manager told him to tell me the pint was fine. Is this the standards now? And we wonder why our trade is dying. When your waiting staff need to stir pints with straws before taking them to the tables, you obviously know you have serious quality issues. You can get a decent pint of InG at the Wetherspoons down the road - a mere 3 minute walk away for 1. Cheaper. 2. with actual carbonation. When a Wetherspoons is doing your product better than you, on the same street, you’ve got issues. The hanging bat does the tap room style properly, this felt like a Temu version. Easily the group would have spent another £100-£150 if not for the issues above. Staff were fine bar this incident. The venue itself has a nice layout and the lighting / ambiance were just right.

Embarrassing This review is strictly relating to the Beer. I have been here a few times over the years. The place tries to masquerade as a Craft Beer pub, but it really isn't. Nobody who loves beer would serve it this poorly. Last night I was served some of the worst beer I have ever tasted in Edinburgh. Let me explain, I am not calling into question the quality of the beer in the keg, that is subjective. Its the management, or lack thereof, the lines, temperature and gas I am referring to. I got the first round. I had, I think it was a Nothern Monk hazy pale. Over £5 for a half is very lively, but I don't mind paying the quality. This beer was coldish (there is a theme here), but almost entirely flat. Having never had this beer before, I didn't know whether it is just a low gas beer. My friend both the next round, so I didn't get a chance to taste before I bought. He got me a pint of Gunpowder IPA at £6.25 a pint I believe. This beer was categorically room temperature, not even remotely cold. And it was flat as a pancake. It was quite frankly disgusting. I have no idea how I&G can serve their own beer, in their own bar, so poorly. I refused to drink it, brought it to the barman, explained my issue. He did that thing where he looked at me suspiciously, then tasted the beer. Did he think I was lying. He then passed me off to another barman. He asked me if I wanted another Gunpowder, I told him I did not, I would like a Tank beer because at least it was chilled (my girlfriend had that, I took a taste, it was chilled at least. Very much not my style of beer, but it was cold). He then went on to tell me the Gunpowder and Tank were using the same cooling system. If that is the case, it is broken. Drank the Tank beer, not a beer fan, but at least it was coldish. Had another after that, this one seemed warmer than the one before. That's when I said to the others I am not willing to spend any more money in this place. The staff in here need a rocket. At one stage there were 6 empty glasses on our table. While 5 bar people stood behind the bar. It took at leas two rounds for those empties to build up, no one took them away. I had to bring them to the bar myself. Two of the bar staff were more interested in throwing glasses to one another. Perhaps they had recently watched the film Cocktail for the first time. If I was an owner of Innis & Gun, I would be embarrassed by this place. Imagine someone who had never drank I&G before, tasting your beer for the first time in this state. You would lose custom and sully your name. I would send a secret customer into this place if I was you. Lastly is the price. Craft beer is expensive, we all know that. The prices in here for non I&G beers are ridiculous, maybe that is intentional to drive you towards their own products. Leith Pils was £4.95 for 2/3's, that is mad money. All the non I&G beers were served in measures less than a pint, which if you bought a pint of, would cost you between £7.50 to £10 a pint. I have attached some pics of the Tank beer. Just look at them, if you know beer, you know there is nothing good in these pictures. The beer is a microcosm of the experience in the bar, insipid I'll avoid this place like the plague going forward. If they can't be bothered to serve their own beer well, I certainly won't part with my hard end cash for it. Soooooooo many better places around.

The steak fries were supposed to be unlimited and 30 mins after we had finished not one single member of staff came up and offered us any refill or our plates cleared. Very noisy venue though because of the building design. A quiz started not long after we arrived and it was very difficult to hear the quiz guy asking the questions and he had a microphone! The classic burger was very tasty but the chips could have done with being stacked in a pot to stay crispy rather than loaded on the plate. Not many Bars offer white wine on a properly chilled glass 😄. Would return as the drinks on offer were very varied and I had not seen the Orchard Pig Reveller cider around for a long while.

My dad and I had a great day at the Innis & Gunn Edinburgh Brew School experience! James was our awesome guide for the day. He was friendly, approachable, and very passionate to share his knowledge about beer and the company. Nothing was a problem and he was very attentive. The Brew School started at 10am and it was great to have the bar to ourselves for a couple of hours before opening as normal to the public. We shared the day with two other groups of two. Everybody got on well, which made the day very relaxed. It was smart to use the company's brewing kit called The Grain Father. James coached us through the fundamentals that lie behind creating beer. He gave us insights into specific beer styles, flavour profiles and the little tips and tricks that can make all the difference to the brewing process. It was a very hands on experience that everybody got involved with. All levels of experience are clearly welcome. A flight of four beers, a hearty lunch (choice of burgers or mac and cheese), and a schooner of beer broke up the day very nicely! James was also on hand to provide beer samples throughout the experience. Overall, it was a great day of brewing our own beer and sampling lots of Innis & Gunn beers in a relaxed setting. I would definitely do it again and recommend it to anybody who has an interest in the brewing process!

The atmosphere was friendly with a great vibe - we happened to go on a Wednesday when there is a steak and frites special - it was delicious and if you are still hungry after you are done eating you can have a second helping - the pepper sauce on the steak was so delicious - the beer choices were awesome too

Been once never again. The only saving grace was the waiting staff, maybe we went on a bad night, but dark and sole less place, no atmosphere at all. We had a groupon voucher and were looking forward to our visit , but to find out that the menu I looked at when I bought the voucher no longer existed and what was left was very minimal . It was a 2 course menu that I bought but I was told it was for starter and main , but there was only one starter as they didn’t have any chicken wings so we had to have scotch eggs, which arrived on a side plate sliced in 2 , with no garnish to help make it look appetising. My partner was looking forward to the fish and chips but that wasn’t on the menu any longer, he opted for the chicken burger which at first looked good but he found it very dry as if it had been reheated. My Mac and cheese was also very disappointing with not much cheese content though the garlic bread was ok , if you only wanted a pint before you went on to somewhere else to eat it’s fine but I wouldn’t eat here again

The Innis burger was very good, the Innis Caribbean rum beer was original but very pleasant. Menu suitable for children, macaroni cheese well dosed and not cloying. The server is really pleasant and smiling!

What an absolutely phenomenal place Innis & Gunn is. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly face offering you a seat where-ever you fancy. The atmosphere at around 2pm on a Tuesday is chill and laid back. There is no rush to order food or get another drink. And no one is hurrying you along out the door. 3 of us chose to do a tasting which is 20£ per person and consists of 6 - 1/3 pints of some of their best brews. We also opted for a late lunch and ordered their Chicken Burger, Wings, Burger, and Scotch Egg. All the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Even the fries were crispy and so so good! I imagine this place can get quite busy in the evening so we were glad to go in the afternoon before the rush. It allowed us to get to know staff, chat, and enjoy the beer, food, and atmosphere without feeling compressed by too many people and too much noise. If we are back in Edinburgh at any point, we will DEFINITELY return!

Best pizza in Edinburgh. I bring all of my guests here. My fave is salmon pizza. They also have 20% student discount! Love it. Tried their burrata cheese and its not the best one tbh. Very good service. Ask for extra siracha sauce. April Edit: the student discount is now 10%, sauce costs extra now, and the toppings are desperately less.

Guinness Zero on tap!! Well, almost. It's still canned, not keg, but they have the microdraught pouring tap. A great pint!
