Tasteless unseasoned and poor quality food. Beef and Ale pie had undercooked soft (not crisp) pastry on all servings. Beef was poor quality 'chuch', was not seasoned, and tasteless. King prawn ***** must have been cooked in a washing machine as they were the tiniest and least tasteful prawns ever tasted.

This is just a pub with average food, tho the scampi is superior to the usual frozen stuff. It used to be more Restaurant quality and standard, but over the past year our experiences have been disappointing. Definitely not as good as before.

Unless you're as greedy and discerning as me then you've probably never realised that not many restaurants can successfully serve up x3 consecutive courses which are all outstanding. The vegan sweet potato soup with coconut chili & lime soup was very well presented and had the slightest of kicks. Sensibly I scaled back on the mains (slightly) and went for a small Fish & Chips (Haddock) which were great and just the right portion size although the absence of any mushy pea option was glaring and reprehensible. Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert was executed to perfection, not too heavy and was delicious accompanied by the ice cream. The best meal I've had in a long time and a real tonic to the restrictions that had been in place over the preceeding months. The staff were really attentive, friendly, welcoming and dealt well with the measures/restrictions that were still in place. The hotel bar has such a fantastic relaxed vibe, with a good selection of exceptional ales and the three courses and x3 pints for £25.42 was the best value meal I'd had since Rishi Sunak stopped paying for me.

We booked dinner to mark the end of a lovely sailing holiday. The Covid arrangements were clear and reassuring, the staff were pl very pleasant and provided quick service. I had a taste of my wife's wild mushroom risotto and it was full of flavour - as good as some risotti we have enjoyed in italy. i had the Scampi with chips and a side portion of vegetables (which included some asparagus as a treat). All delicious.

At the recommendation of fellow B&B guests, we came to the Inverkip Room Restaurant at the hotel here. We both had the lamb dinner - delicious lamb cooked exactly as we asked, a beautiful cut with little waste. Serving was a healthy size. A quiet Thursday evening for a decent bar meal. Their FRESH scampi is excellent and worth the 40 minute drive. Staff are young, but friendly and efficient with a cheerful manageress keeping a watchful eye on things. Wine is a little pricey, but good quality. Only complaint was the rather odd pavlova which was simply a large dry meringue, with no cream, while the winter fruit was actually frozen summer berries. Stick to a proper recipe, or take it off the menu.

I love the Inverkip Hotel. The food is always lovely, and most importantly, consistent. The menu could be more adventurous, but this appears to be being gradually addressed, and if you want your meal presented slightly differently, then it's never a problem. What horrifies me however, is the new wine list. It's not as extensive as before and lacks a lot of "old favourites", and is extremely overpriced. A good wine list should offer a variety of choices and costs to suit all pockets. The cheapest white wine by bottle is £19.50 and the most expensive white is £29, and these are subjected to a mark up of 200% and 170% respectively (probably more since the establishment probably buys in bulk). If I wanted to pay those sort of prices I would go to a fine dining restaurant in Glasgow where the range of choices matches the prices. I refuse to pay those prices for a pretentious wine list that doesn't give the customer what they're looking for, so I've had soft drinks or a glass of a spirit instead on my last few visits.

We had Dinner here on Sunday. It has a fairly extensive Menu and we went for Main Courses and Desserts. With myself as an exception, I had the Smoked Salmon and Tattie Scone as a Starter. This was truly excellent; plenty Salmon and double Tattie Scones...this was the shape of things to come? However, sadly we were overall disappointed. Two of us had the Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding which tasted very nice but there was a major shortage of Roast Potatoes ..... no Boiled and three very small roast. To be frank it fell short of what I had expected. I had intended to go for Steak Pie and I suppose wish I had taken that option. One of our Party had Prawn Salad (large) and wondered what miniscule size the "small" would be. Another had a Chicken Wrap (apologize I cannot recall the exact name)....this was a pretty poor effort of Chicken Strips in batter and deep fried. The Desserts were well received and enjoyed but for the price we paid for the meal, we came away disappointed. Perhaps overall I am too picky as the place was busy....so maybe me....maybe.

My folks have just moved to the area and on the day they moved up we abandoned the boxes and chaos of the new place and popped along for a meal with a reservation. Very friendly staff, nice cosy bar area which was warm and welcoming, decent wine list and appetising menu. Only downside (if being picky here) my steak was slightly overcooked, the chips where on the cheap side and the menu claimed to have brie from a town which has never made brie - ironically this town is where my folks had just moved from after 24 years!! Even with these minor gripes will definitely be back when I next visit, food was well presented and tasty, good value and good wine (just upgrade the chips!).

As occasional visitors to The Inverkip Hotel we were looking forward to the lovely homely ambience of the hotel and were delighted to note that this was just as evident as ever. The menu was full of Scottish fare and was most appealing and portion sizes were very generous. The mussel starter was delicious as was the chorizo salad and egg. The scampi was delicious served with mushy peas and tartare sauce and the trout salad was very tasty. A nice touch is that meals are offered as small or large portions for the main meal. The desserts looked wonderful but we were too full to indulge. What makes the restaurant outstanding is the service which is exemplary. All waiting staff were happy, friendly, willing and so polite. This made the meal a wonderful experience. One tiny niggle is the room lighting which is a tad dark. It is perfect in the bar but somewhat gloomy in the restaurant. We saw a gentleman on the next table using his phone torch to read the menu! However we left feeling well satisfied and would love to return.

Three of our group ordered the steak pie but received scampi by mistake. The error was very quickly corrected. They offered to take away the other meals already brought out as well and prepare them again fresh so that we could all eat together, which we declined. They then offered us a free round of drinks to compensate us. When we informed them we were driving early the next morning so didn't want to drink any more they immediately offered to remove our last round of drinks from the bill. Six of us including 2 children dined here on hogmanay evening. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was pleasant although they seemed a little overwhelmed. Three items were already off the menu at 6pm and the children's home made lemonade was also not available. Apart from that the food was good with no complaints but with a good few empty tables and a full house expected later I'm sure there would have been more dishes off. With better planning this could have been excellent.

Met friends in the hotel and were taken to the newly refurbished restaurant which was lovely. Had starter of scampi tails followed by steak and ice cream. All of the food was cooked to perfection and looked lovely on the plate. Would recommend the restaurant for the food and the helpful staff which looked after us very well. Will be back soon.

Haven't been to The Inverkip in ages but went this week to celebrate our anniversary .We were greeted by the manager offering congratulations then the young waitress brought us both a complementary glass of fizz -nice touch.Service throughout the evening was great and food was lovely. Definitely won't leave it so long to return. Meal was served in the cozy lounge on a mid week evening -Nice atmosphere with a good number of other diners .

Good ambience in the front room. Above average prices. Changed menu is not as good and the cooking has gone downhill since. Used to be my favourite special place to eat, but now prefer the Chartroom in Inverkip!

This was one of our favourites but having visited last Thursday evening we found that the menu had changed quite a bit and that there had been a change of chef.Three fish options on a small menu limited choice for some of our party.Portions had shrunk quite a bit, but the cost had not. They seem to be heading away from wholesome food to the arty fatty burgers on a wooden plank with a FEW chips on the side. Even the salt and pepper came in a small saucer to be sprinkled on by hand, fine if you are an adult, but had to ask for a traditional salt pot for the children as the salt in the saucer was chunks of sea salt. Have to say this was provided without any problem. Will think twice about returning now.

Went here with my book club, there was 19 of us and they had set out tables together tomake one big square table. The menu had many choices for starter, main and sweet.Ihad king prawns in a garlic butter, it came in a small bowl on a long plate with three slices of crusty bread and a smaller dish with a sun dried tomatoes paste which I spread on the brand and dipped into the garlic butter. My main was lamb steak with a mash of potatoes and carrot which I enjoyed but being full left the green beans and of course did not have a sweet but I had a white coffee which was lovely and it came with a small macaroon biscuit. We all enjoyed our lunch . Would go back there again.

Visited with American visitors and sang praises of hotel food. They serve half portions of most items on menu. On member of party dithered as to choose half portion or not. He was glad he chose full portion as dishes were not on generous side. That saying the haddock was delicious. I could have eaten another portion! I think that the haddock wad large and had been split down middle to make 2 portions...could be wrong!Delicious!

Came here on the recommendation of the B&B owner and was really pleased to have found it. Warm cosy eating area, stylish decor, unexpected n a traditional looking hotel. We had the early bird menu which offered a good choice and really tasty food (Thai curry) that was good value. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

I dined with friends (for the first time) on Saturday evening at the Inverkip Hotel and was disappointed, not by the quality of the food but the meagre portions. I ordered a (main course) venison (£17) and was presented with four minute pieces of meat, two small pieces of fondant potato and hardly any vegetables. My friend had the same with similar sized portions. My wife’s lamb chump (£12.55) would not have fed a child.Starters were almost £7.00 a head and were at least acceptable in size. However, I was not happy with having paid out almost £90 for two courses for four people. This may have been an attempt at nouvelle cuisine and in that it succeeded in presentation, but I do not like leaving a restaurant still feeling hungry especially after having forked out a considerable sum of money.Whatever happened to good, simple but plentiful Scottish cooking at reasonable prices?I must say I have eaten in some very good Scottish restaurants, paid a lot less and received decent sized portions!

Arrived at the hotel and sat in the lounge to the right when you go into hotel. There were five of us and two menus - had to ask for more menus. Eventually waitress came over to take our order and when she was asked what veg came with the filet....only to be told chips and onion rings....no veg....which was disappointing but could substitute onion rings for salad....eh no will pick something else......anyway starters came which looked and tasted ok although dour waitress did not comeback to check if everything ok. While waiting for mains no waitress came near to check if we required any further drinks and had to ask for same round again.....mains arrived and were fine and we asked for the usual sauces.....dour waitress brought two tiny jars of tomato sauce - had to ask for more and vinegar which we had requested previously.Overall the food was fine but inverkip staff need to be more interactive with their customers and look at their steak menu.....to be offered onion rings a no go in my book for 22.95......I understand management has changed slightly ......preferred my meals previously in inverkip but don't think I will be back soon.

On a cold crisp evening the welcoming ambience of the hotel was much appreciated. We went through to the pleasant dining room which is large with a galleried area. Lighting could be addressed so that all diners can see to read menus and also to offer more pools of light to achieve the same welcoming atmosphere as the bar. Staff were most helpful and polite. No fresh fish was available due to the fishing conditions but the menu was extensive and there was plenty of choice although only one main dish for vegetarians. The banoffie pie desert was the best tasted by this reviewer. Well done. Delicious. Definitely a place to frequent often and a welcome choice in the sparse restaurant options in the area.

Recommend trying the innovative Traditional Scottish food - unusual and tasty combinations. Good food, great service and warm, pleasant interior, ideal for cold winters night. One of the better dining experiences in this area.

Great food, lovely decor and very attentive staff. Unfortunately we watched Wrong Jovi right after and words can't describe just how terrible and disjointed the band was. Haven't laughed so much watching the bouncer having to stand and save female audience members from the guitarist and not the other way round. 🤣 Good point to take from this is The Albany will continue to serve great food and keep the atmosphere in the restaurant.
