I visited the Parva Farmhouse for dinner with a friend who was visiting. The small dining room was almost full and tables were well spaced out to allow relaxed conversation. The decor is tranquil and rustic. The food we had was exceptional! And the portions very generous. The chocolate mousse we shared for dessert was absolutely dreamy! There’s a good wine list and delicious cocktails available. All reasonably priced. I can’t wait to visit again

Our party of 5 were fortunate to have had dinner last night at the Parva Farmhouse Restaurant. The items on the menu all sounded so delicious it was hard to make a choice. Everything ordered lived up to its description and our expectations. The food was outstanding, service attentive, prices reasonable, portion sizes generous. We visit the area regularly and will definitely go back.

This is simple! Eaten here a few times and each visit has been superb. The food is exceptional and I would say very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Likewise, the service is great, neither too relaxed nor overbearing, just the right level! There is a fantastic wine list. We will definitely be returning here very soon

Occasionally, you get the double benefit of coming across a writer where not only do their insights strike a chord with you, but the latter are expressed with an eloquence which you could only dream about. I experienced the gastronomic equivalent when dining at the Parva Farmhouse. My fish curry starter was beautifully integrated, with the delicate taste of the fish enhanced and complemented, but not overpowered, by the curry sauce, the whole sitting on top of a rich, golden stock which was bursting with a variety of great flavours. What must be one of Roger Brook’s USPs, even amongst top chefs, of incredible balance was carried through into my entrée. The soft, delicate subtlety of the salmon, which went so well with its accompanying spinach and beetroot, was set off perfectly by the eel croquettas, the latter’s greater edginess, both in texture and taste, providing a contrast which just hit the spot. The pedigree of the Michelin starred Walnut Tree was on permanent display and the fact that this place even survived notwithstanding the most unfortunate timing of its opening shortly before the first lock down in March 2020 is testament to its pure class. It may not be the easiest place to find, tucked away as it is somewhere on the North Eastern edge of Tintern (blink and you miss it), but I can’t imagine that there would be many people who would deem it not worth the effort to have the tenacity to beat a path to the Parva Farmhouse’s welcoming door.

We've been meaning to try for a while and the visit by some friends gave us the excuse. We invited another couple who love good food to join us. The menu was e-mailed to me the day before, and we all made our choices. The food was exceptional - beautifully presented and delicious. Service was excellent and everybody our party was very complementary. We will be back!

I enjoyed one of the best prepared and tastiest meals I've had in years here!. It's good sign when they ask for your menu choices the day before as everything was so fresh and prepared meticulously. What a difference to the usual these days. Not expensive, either. Highly recommended.

We are enjoying our time at the Parva Farmhouse, what a perfectly located, charming place. We were greeted with genuine warmth and shown around the property. The room is large, and accommodating, and meeting fellow travelers has been fun. The ease and convenience of having meals here works for us and the food was amazing. Staff are all kind, and interested in where you are coming from, and headed to. Wonderfully time. Next trip to the Wales I definitely want to stay here again.

We visited the restaurant for dinner. We were asked to order our food the day before - they emailed us the menu and we had to get back with our selection. The place itself is small but well kept. The food, however, was brilliant! Very well presented, extremely well prepared. We were a group of 10 and ordered almost everything on the menu and each of us had a super experience! The atmosphere is warm and friendly. We were well looked after. Prices are reasonable as well. A great evening out at Tintern!

We were staying at this lovely privately run hotel on this mini break in Tintern. We had reserved a table for dinner on this our second and final night of this mini break. We had taken a pre-dinner glass of wine on the resident’s lounge; my Partner had an excellent Crémant which was very much enjoyed. I can take or leave any fizzy wine, so I ordered what I recall being an Italian Rosé or blush, sadly this was almost devoid of any flavour and very thin. Some may like those ‘qualities’ in a wine, but I prefer more fruit flavour with a dry finish. Other than that we had a very fine dining experience. The wine with meal: Fiano (grape variety from Puglia, Italy). Fresh, vibrant with melon and citrus fruit on the palate. Brilliant choice I have to say (yes … it was my choice). To start: (for both of us) ‘Beef Brisket’ accompanied by a home-baked soft roll and butter. This brisket was so tender with an incredibly rich savoury sauce, served with a small side coleslaw and sliced pickled gherkins. I could have sat and eaten this again, and again, and … Mains: for my Partner it was the ‘Sliced Pork Loin’ with a sausage-meat pastry roll, pork stuffing balls, spring greens, mashed potato, apple sauce and pork jus. For myself it was the: ‘Fillet of Cod’ in a herb crust, served with roast red peppers and asparagus, with a very rich dark fish sauce. Both plates were exceptional with the cod being really firm and fresh. Desserts: (for both of us) ‘Rhubarb strudel’ with ginger ice cream and a little crème anglaise. Heaven on a plate, especially for me, as rhubarb is a favourite dessert for me. Service from owner Marta was perfect in every way, and the Chef Roger is truly a fine example of his profession. Loved the occasion and appreciated the attention to detail, and special thanks for removing the octopus from the fish sauce.

A fantastic relaxing, period, restaurant in Tintern. We live locally and have been eating at The Parva Farmhouse Restaurant every 2-4 weeks for the past year, and I can honestly say that every single meal has been outstanding....and we have eaten at many a michelin star restaurant. If you love food and you are visiting Tintern, this is a restaurant not to be missed.....This could be a mistake, we may never get a table again !!!! ;-) Roger is the extremely talented (owner) chef whose menus vary with whatever produce (local whenever possible) is best at the time, so produce is fresh and in season, and you can find yourself trying dishes that you would possibly never normally order, they are always creative, beautifully cooked and presented; we have never been to a restaurant where the menu changes so regularly! Marta is (owner) front of house, and is so friendly and welcoming, along with her other waiting staff, you have their full attention from the start to the finish of your visit, the whole experience in this cosy restaurant is to be highly recommended.

Booked this place last minute during a weekend in Tintern. Happy to say it was one of the best meals we ever had. Really nice food focussing on fresh well prepared ingredients with great flavours. Every course was a delight. Vibe was great service, but not pretentious. Marta was always ready to help & friendly, but not at all imposing. Highlight of the night for me was an after dinner cognac by the fire!

We had a superb meal here, with excellent service and delightful atmosphere. We have lived in the area for a few years now and had previous good experience there, so it was not a difficult choice for my wife's birthday celebration with our son and his partner. Nobody had anything but praise for the creative and tasty cuisine of all courses accompanied by a carefully curated wine list. Luckily we got the last of the eiswein to complement the desserts. They were also very attentive to the needs of our dairy intolerant guest. Compliments to the chef and thanks to all the staff who made it a lovely evening.

I have never submitted anything but a positive review. However my experience with Parva Farmhouse was so disappointing that I felt it necessary. The front of house staff were unbelievably rude. You’re not welcomed here. The chef did not have talent and cannot create food for anyone with intolerances or allergies. I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant.

Had a wonderful meal, myself and my mother on a Thursday evening. Stunning unfussy but well thought through local produce, picked and cooked to perfection. I really can not recommend highly enough and look fwd to visiting again. From a tandoori mackeral and samosa to Venison, Hake and a cheese plate - each taste confirmed chef really knew what they were doing. Marta, who i arranged with by email first was also a pleasure to speak with. Thank you!

We were staying in Tintern for a couple of nights, albeit not at the Parva Farmhouse, and decided to vsit for an evening meal as the vegatarian options looked appealing. Did not stay the night, but the much-touted restaurant for dinner was extremely and surprisingly poor. Quality of food described as locally sourced and carefully prepared, not true! Sloppy cooking as if the "chef" couldn't care less, indifferent service. What a disappointment for a place enthusiastically touted in the guide book! Overpriced to boot. Don't bother.

Before visiting Tintern Abbey we decided to find a good pub in the area. The Fountain Inn is just lovely, off the beaten track through beautiful woods with a stream alongside the road. It is an atmospheric 17th century pub with a roaring log fire and a great menu, it was difficult to choose as there was a fantastic range of food and very good value too. We were really pleased with the food we had, it was cooked to perfection, steak and duck just as we’d asked, a good selection of perfectly cooked fresh vegetables, delicious potato rosti and dauphinois. They even make their own bread which is a treat and we really enjoyed the ales they have. The lady who served us was lovely, very warm and friendly, she couldn’t have been more hospitable and welcoming. It was our wedding anniversary so thanks to the Fountain Inn for making it a very memorable one!

We stayed at the ARW for a short weekend break our anniversary. Our room was excellent, the price was very reasonable for the quality. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly during our stay and were happy to provide a bottle of bubbles for the room. Breakfast was first rate, the ambiance and decor was tasteful and the food was magnificent- we had chateaubriand steak for dinner on one night and went to a well-known upmarket restaurant the following might, and the ARW food we both thought was of much better quality. I'm sure we'll be back.
