Enjoyed dinner at the White Hart with a work colleague. We both had the lamb shank which was thoroughly delicious. Thank you

The worst Sunday lunch I have ever experienced. Our meals were served 5 minutes after ordering which sets the scene! My chicken - which I can only assume came out of a frozen bulk bag - certainly was not a breast - had to be sent back as it was not cooked. The cauliflower cheese and some other vegetable covered in watery cheese looked like it had been left over from the previous week and the carrots, broccoli and roast potatoes were not fresh and again looked as if they had been reheated from some time ago - all inedible. My husband said the beef was good. The staff were friendly but sadly that is the extent of any decent feedback. When asked if everything was ok as I hadn't eaten anything, I gave my polite and honest feedback but was not offered anything by way of compensation. We had 2 mains and 2 soft drinks which came to £47. I would honestly give it a miss as so many other places in the area where the food is not only edible but good.

Booked large family group as was visiting nearby pumpkin farm. Homely-style pub/restaurant with our tables nicely set ready & waiting for us. Staff who were friendly, willing to please and knowledgable about the menu. Sunday roast menu was reasonably priced and clearly explained. However what set this Sunday roast apart from others were the portions; HUGE! Gorgeous slow-cooked meat with plenty of potatoes & a huge yorkie, then followed by ample dishes of fresh vegetables. Starters and desserts very impressive as well. It is nearly an hour’s drive from where we live but I am sure we will be back soon. Fabulous food.

Great experience from start to finish - service excellent and very friendly, food was delicious (homemade curry). Very welcoming place and busy for a Wednesday night so good atmosphere.

Absolutely stunning little pub. We had an amazing lunch here today (28/8/24). The staff were so friendly and really lovely. Brilliant value for money and fantastic portion sizes. Would highly recommend a visit.

Visited this pub recently whilst on holiday. Seemed nice enough when we first walked in. Ordered the steak pies which was around £17 each. Waiting over an hour for our food to arrive, which we didn’t really mind. The food came and we was shocked. The mash potatoes were hard, thick and stuck together. The veg was clearly out of a can, and the pie was fatty. I asked for fresh mash but was told there wasn’t any left. So I had chips instead. Poured the gravy over my dinner and it was freezing cold. I told them I couldn’t eat it but my partner was happy to pay for his. What happened next was unbelievable. We went to the bar to pay and the woman behind the bar told us we had to wait for the manger. Thinking he was coming to apologise, we waited. Instead he came marching up to us, started screaming at us, very threatening and intimidating. He told me I still had to pay for my meal even though I sent most of it back and didn’t eat it. I was told it was my fault because I shouldn’t have poured the cold gravy over my food. He then proceeded to call the police and tried locking us in. This pub was filled with locals who started shouting telling us even if we didn’t eat the food we had to pay. I’m 5ft 1 and I had an over 6ft man screaming and swearing in my face. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I’m shocked this man has not been arrested or this pub is still open for business. My partner paid because he just wanted to get out and I believe he was worried for our safety. AVOID AT ALL COST!! I’m so glad our child wasn’t with us. It was giving Hills have eyes film!!

Absolutely huge portions! Chicken burger was really nice, stuffed pancakes (more like lasagne) was delicious . The Garlic bread was fantastic. Staff were friendly and polite and food service was quick. Would definitely come back again.

Superb Sunday lunch. I had roast lamb, my wife had beef. Slow roasted, full of flavour and plenty of it! Veg included roast potatoes, new potatoes, creamed leeks, cauliflower cheese and broccoli. I had plaice goujons as a starter so I was well and truly stuffed. No room for a pudding.

Called in for a drink after a walk with 15 others. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were all served in a timely manner with no drama. Fantastic, friendly pub.

Called last minute to see about availability, luckily there was room, we were a little past their ending time but they kept the table for us, food came and it was very good, big Yorkshire pudding, loads of extra gravy, a lot of meat and cauliflower cheese included with our dinner, staff were friendly and we were checked on whist dining, we will return.

Had sunday lunch with the family here big portions and the dinner was really good fair play friendly helpful staff to.. Not so fussed on the background music tho.not original artists.all cover versions. Thanks for looking after us White Hart Team.

Very disappointed that the prawns, calamari and fish cake starters were frozen food. The pork belly was not slow cooked and there was a funny taste to it. The staff were lovely though.

Couldn’t have been more looked after by the staff, food was excellent also. Steak cooked perfectly to medium rare and the desserts were fab also. Have been before for Sunday lunch and this was great also, massive yorkshires! Always made to feel welcomed and part of the family.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here last week. The food was delicious there was plenty of it and the beef melted in your mouth. Staff were excellent and friendly and there was a good warm atmosphere with a gorgeous open fire. Would definitely recommend!

We've visited The White Heart twice in the last 30 days. The 2nd visit was for Mother's Day. Excellent staff + Amazing chef = Beautiful food.

I have never waited so long for a pre-booked table. Our table was booked for 3pm on Mother's Day, and we finally got seated (whilst the table was being cleaned around us) at 3:45pm. We had placed our food order whilst we had been waiting, but we waited another 40 minutes for the food to arrive. On asking the landlord why the food was taking so long, he blamed it on the veggie burger that I had ordered - I fail to realise how this was possible, given that if a veggie burger had been cooked for 40 minutes, there would have been nothing left if it. My burger arrived cold and with a burnt bun, half a dozen overcooked chips and a tablespoon of chopped up cucumber and tomato. The other members of my family had roast dinners, meat was fatty and chewy, vegetables had hardly seen a boiling pan, and the yorkshire puddings burnt and stone cold. We ordered our deserts, which we waited another 25 minutes for. On attempting to cancel the order, we were told by the landlord that the delay was due to large table that had been served before us and that the delay wasn't his fault. It was just excuse after excuse with this landlord. He clearly is not experienced enough at dealing with a busy pub and does not accept any responsibility for things going wrong. The poor waiting staff were embarrassed and did their best to smooth things over. We will definitely not be customers of this establishment ever again.

Absolutely terrible food. The man who runs the pub was so rude and disrespectful to my family. We’ve been many times and had no issues the food has always been good but today on mother’s day (which we booked 1 month in advance and paid an £80 deposit for the table because of it being Mother’s Day ) the lamb was cold like it had been taken straight out of the fridge and placed onto the plate. A scolding hot plate of vegetables was placed directly in front of my 5 year old niece centimetres from her face. When we complained we were met with a rude repugnant man who offered no form of apology and he justified all of these faults on the fact they were ‘busy’. If you don’t expect Mother’s Day to be busy and prepare your staff and kitchen staff appropriately I don’t know if you should be running a busy pub and a 50 minute wait is extreme regardless. Also calling a 17 year old girl ‘darling’ in rude and patronising tone just totally sums up this man’s character. A Mother’s Day ruined.

Awful, owner was incredibly rude would not recommend. I would give no stars if I could. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation that we paid a deposit for , Another 40 minutes until our main course came. Then we had to wait for 20 mins for a dessert due to a large table before us !!! When we complained and tried to cancel our dessert the owner said it wasn’t HIS problem and that we would have to pay for the two courses anyway !!! The food was mediocre, Yorkshire’s cold other dishes boiling hot not worth £25 per person Waitresses were lovely. The owner was not ! Obviously could not handle the service and very rude to paying customers.

We had a gorgeous meal at this pub, the landlord and staff were very attentive. It had the best variety menu that we have seen in any pub post Covid. The only criticism I would have is that it was a little cold and when they opened up another room leading from the restaurant it became very cold.

Had a our annual Christmas Eve family get together this year at the White Heart. Excellent service, very friendly staff. They made us very welcome. Having children in a busy pub can sometimes test the patient, but children loved it. The pub had a lovely vibe. Will definitely book again. Thank you.

I recently had an impromptu visit to this inn, drawn by its online presence. Upon arrival, I noticed the ambiance was quite smoky due to the fireplaces, which can be charming but was a bit overwhelming for us, especially with a newborn in tow.We were initially uncertain about dining availability, despite arriving within the listed service hours. Thankfully, the staff confirmed they could accommodate us. Seeking a less smoky area for the comfort of our baby and for breastfeeding privacy, we chose a table away from the fireplaces. However, we were informed that this particular table couldn't be used as it had just been cleaned.We respectfully requested to be seated there due to our circumstances, but unfortunately, this couldn't be accommodated. Given the situation, and with no alternative seating options offered, we had to leave. It was disappointing, as we were looking forward to the experience.I am unable to comment on the food or other aspects of the inn since our visit was brief and focused on this particular service experience.

We had a lovely meal here. The staff were friendly and the pub had a warm and cosy atmosphere. The pie was amazing with a lovely puff pastry lid and the beef rib starter melted in the mouth - fantastic! There were also a good range of beers on tap and a great selection of food to choose from.

Booked as a table of 4 for my daughters birthday last week. When arrived owner/manager was very rude. No atmosphere, flys, Food came out really fast and tasted like it had been re-warmed from the day before- definitely not fresh! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY The menu is also not great an neither are the prices.

Went here for my daughters 13th birthday 🥳 booked a table online for 2:30 when we got there we were told the kitchen was closing so had to order food now , we ordered x2 hunters chicken 1 burger & 1 kids chicken nuggets & chips the hunters chicken had been pre cooked & warmed up I’m no chicken expert but it was terrible 😞 i would never eat here again keep your money and get a sandwich from the services you’re be better off !

Popped in on our journey home for a Sunday lunch and was not disappointed, it was a brilliant Sunday roast, staff were friendly, place was cosy and clean. Didn’t have room for dessert but would stop there again.

Lunch with family group of five. Haven't been to this pub for many years... don't really know why certainly won't be too long before we return. Warm welcome and exceptional attentive and helpful service. I didn't pay the bill but prices looked very reasonable and a good range of choices on the menu. Two courses were all any of us could manage comfortably on the day. Starters and mains, so cannot comment on the desserts but expect that they measure up to the very good quality of the items we chose. Hot and tasty with good portions. All our party enjoyed the occasion, food, and service. Easy to recommend as a safe choice for good food and reasonable prices.

My wife and I recently had a meal here, it was our second visit, the food is very good, served hot and decent portions, most restaurants serve food which is barely warm and on cold plates, so I'm always asking for my meal to be re-heated. The only problem we had this time was my wife's belly pork was very well done and a tad too crispy on the outside, and my Hunter's Chicken was not as moist as the first version I had, so I had to "borrow" some of my wife's Apple Gravy to moisten it, apart from that the meal was gorgeous and we will definitely go on more occasions.

Lovely old fashioned pub 1st visit and won’t be the last. Lovely pub for all the family food lovely and large portions.

Booked a table after seeing the pub while passing by. Popped to the farm shop for some overpriced cheese and drove back for our reservation then had the best Sunday roast I've had in years (don't tell my mum that though). Nice unspoilt traditional feel to the ornate beamed interior. Staff were efficient and polite and engaging and all that good stuff. Will go back again. Would recommend.

I had the vegetarian stuffed pancake (I asked for the sauce on the side), and my colleague had the hunters chicken. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and felt very welcome. 🤩

I booked a table for two at the white Hart and we were greeted by Jasmin with a warm smile. We were seated in a warm room with a open fire. I ordered the beef curry with 50/50 rice and chips, the presentation was amazing, the taste was unreal... The chef did a fantastic job. And there wasn't just a few pieces of beef, there were lots... Very very filling. My wife had the street style mexican Yucatan pork and white rice, again the flavours were spectacular and the dish was very filling.. the whole atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed and we had an amazing time. We would highly recommend a meal here and we definitely will be coming back to try something else on the menu.

Very expensive!!!! 1 pint of Thatchers and a packet of crisps....£6.45!! I went to the King's Head in Usk, asked for the same...£5.45!!

It was nice afternoon with family. Dinner was ok, good choice of meat, I didn't like cauliflower cheese with leek, not enough flavour and I don't think was good choice of ingredients to match cauliflower. The table was by the kitchen and that's not great location to sit when you eating. Staff nice and friendly. Lovely decorations.

Lovely place and real beer, first visit and won't be the last, friendly helpful staff and food was top quality. Visiting area for a week's holiday and will visit again later in week. A pub as it should be. Very satisfied customer.

Lovely little pub on the outskirts of usk. As we arrived on Saturday afternoon the church next door were practicing bell ringing which was nice. Bought a couple of beers well one cider thatchers haze and a san Miguel, both came in correct branded glasses. Friendly barmaid, they accept contactless payments took a look at the menu seems like a lovely pub grub offering available. Outside is a lovely undercover stretch tent teepee looking thing and could see a fire pit ready to be used .

The lunch I had was tasty, but, given the numerous vegetarian choices shown on the on-line Restaurant menu, I was very disappointed on arrival to find only 1 vegetarian meal on the lunch menu & nothing at all on the Specials board. Good thing I like roasted red pepper!

Judging by the majority of reviews on here, the only explanation for our experience, must be that the manager had angered his chef so much on Saturday evening, that they had walked out and left the manager to be the chef for the night. Starters were ok, deep fat fried, definitely seen the exact same food in Lidl. One starter did not show up until the other seven starters had been eaten and after we had asked for it twice. Mains, asked for three rib eye, one medium and two rare, all showed up grey and looked like they had been boiled in dishwater. The previous days chips had just been put back in the deep fat fryer, even though we had asked for sautéed potatoes. Duck and orange had been caramelised solid (can’t deep fat fry that), and the sauce was gravy with some chopped up orange peel. Gammon and egg, also rock solid, and frozen mixed veg still frozen. Burger did not even arrive. Steaks were collected and we asked for the bill for our drinks and starters as the mains were revolting and inedible. Unhelpful staff did not apologise or return to tell us this would not be possible but instead left us sat there waiting for a further 20 minutes. At which point I asked again for the bill and the girl chatting to the other waiting staff at the bar told me that the manager had said we had to pay for mains also, even though the burger hadn’t even arrived, 3 steaks had been sent back and the remaining meals were still sat on the table untouched, (still yet to see sight of any kind of bill or hear any kind of apology). I asked if it would be easier if we just left without paying at all, as they were unprepared to give us the bill for the starters and drinks, and the girl at the bar couldn't have looked less bothered if she tried and just grunted and shrugged her shoulders, whilst emphasising further that the manager wouldn't come and speak to us directly. As we walked out of the pub the manager instructed a member of staff (which we later discovered was his son), to move his car to block the carpark to prevent us from leaving. Finally, after refusing to speak to us and leave the kitchen during the time of our earlier requests to speak with him, the manager then left the kitchen to hurl abuse at us whilst we were stood outside unable to leave, called the police (still unsure as to the reason for his call), shout that he had CCTV (good - viewing the CCTV would reveal just how much of a madman he was/is), and then finally manhandle and scream at the girl that was previously behind the bar, who turned out to be his daughter, ushering her aggressively back inside - this we have on video. The result was that the entire £252 bill was paid (mainly because one member of our party could not handle the mental reaction from the landlord and two members of staff – his children), despite one meal not arriving, three being sent back, and 4 remaining on the table. At least it gives us all a story to look back on in disbelief. In contrast, the following day we visited a different pub, who were also delayed in delivering our meals (mainly as it was Mother’s Day and they were very busy), and they apologised, and offered to refund us as the food hadn't arrived and would be a lengthy wait. That is all that was needed really. If you are staying in a holiday let in the area, visit the White Hart Village Inn if you fancy a Fawlty Towers experience.

My frozen lidil food wasnt even defrosted (locals confirmed it’s all frozen lidil food…) Only half of us received our main course over an hour period of first of us receiving our Iceland/lidil mains. My medium rare ribeye came and it was just burned black stewing steak. (Cooking in fairy liquid, I can still taste the fairy) It’s basically a faulty towers run by a short Irish Fella and his fiery kids who are only as good as you’d spent being raised by the owners in question. (Not a lot up there) . The owner even pushed my wife so hard she fell over when she complained, her leg was bleeding and couldn’t even walk home, she is still recovering. Police came, loads of dramas, This is the sort of place you will be walking in to. Enjoy or avoid

The food & service was excellent. We went as a party of four. The place was lovely & clean & very welcoming. We did not have to wait to long for our food & there was a table service for drinks. We will definitely be going there again.
