So happy that Indian Diner is open again and it did nor disappoint! It looks like it’s been freshened up during the lockdown. A firm family favourite.

Yes. not the friendliest but food is good.It is a hard life running a restaurant especially now.As long as not downright rude what the hell does it matter ? How much do waiters get paid for goodness sake!!!Entitled people around not understanding the people serving them. .Got there before the last lockdown. If no good for families, then too bad. There are enough places for them and the world should not revolve around their needs ALL THE TIME. ate a good dinner on a business trip.felt fine as solo woman.relaxing and dark and very nice wine.

I’ve been making occasional visits to this restaurant for many years and can understand the other comments regarding the staff being somewhat cold (though always professional and never rude) but I visit because of the quality of the food. However, I visited last week with a friend and I think someone has sorted out the service issues because the usual excellent food was served by very friendly waiters (same staff as before). Consequently, we had a fantastic evening and I’m looking forward to returning.

Visited quite late (10.30pm) on a Wednesday with work colleagues. Lovely food, attentive staff and prices very reasonable. I had butter chicken and rice which was really tasty and was less than £13 which I thought for London was very good. The rose for the ladies at the end of the meal was a nice touch too.

We got a range of dishes to share and thought they were all delicious. The food for us was a five-star experience. The less than great aspect was the service. We arrived early in the dinner hours and found that the restaurant had only one customer. We were seated quickly and ignored often. I generally like to be left alone, but this was another level. The three waiters had two tables to serve, and they spent most of the time staring disinterestedly out of the window. A bit more engagement would have improved the experience.

Unpretentious restaurant near Victoria and Westminster. Just your fairly typical Indian restaurant with the usual menus options. Food was really good (we had a Balti and a tikka masala). Considering its in central London the price was very reasonable.

Arrived as a group of 6 without booking on a Thursday evening. We were able to get a table immediately and were quickly offered drinks and poppadoms. We may have been a little rowdy, but the staff professional and polite. Ordered mixed starters and prawn puree both were great. Everyone ordered something different tor mains, one order was bought wrong korma appeared instead of korai, which they offered to swap. I can't speak for everyone but my lamb bhuna was excellent as was my partners naga chicken. A couple of rounds of drinks, some rice, bread and vegetable sides to share, with a bill of £30pp seemed very fair. I personally would be happy to return.

Nothing was bad and they’re always busy. The tables are close together and the service is a bit clumsy but not bad. The food was ok but not great and service was a bit rushed. The special biryani was tiny, the side dishes ok and meat quality ok but the sauces were a bit disappointing. Didn’t seem like much love went into anything. Quite expensive for what you get and 5/10 at best for us three.

Visited the Indian diner many times over the years (even under its previous names). Was always a very nice Indian restaurant, solidly good food with the little touch of a Rose for women diners. Having spent a month in India in January we have gone off British Indian food. However this place is a breath of fresh air. Very aromatic, deliciously spiced and individually fresh tasting dishes; we had chicken with garlic (47) , chicken Rogan Josh, egg and potato and spinach side dishes, garlic naan and rice.

We three friends decided to go out for dinner before Christmas evening mass. This restaurant was the only one open in the area. The menu was fairly expensive to start off with but we were quite horrified when we were charged for the chutney and other sauces that came with the poppadoms! The server did not indicate that the sauces were extra, he just put them down in front of us. This after choosing from a fairly expensive and disappointing menu as well. The service wasn’t great either and the food was bland. The extra costs didn’t sit well with us. When we queried why we weren’t told about the charges (£2,30 for chutney) the proprietor pointed to the menu and said, “it’s in there”. Not good enough really!

I was looking forward to eating here having visited a few years previously. I was very disappointed in the food, the curry was very spicy, I ordered lemon rice, but the lemon was overpowering and the rice had chunks of sliced up lemon in it far to strong and I spent a lot time picking out the chunks of lemon. I love Indian food, and while staying in London near this restaurant I thought I'd give it a try, as I eat a lot of curry, so thought it'd be nice to try a different restaurant.I ordered a tikka starter & a vidaloo main course. The tikka was exactly how a tikka should be with a clever "lemon squeezer" to add some 'zest'. Nice salad with it too. Then the main course. My taste buds have been destroyed for years, but I could taste the lamb and the sauce had a nice texture to it. It made me sweat, which is a good thing. The portions were great - far more than my local restaurant, which is nice. The staff were very helpful and ettentive.Everything tasted nice, the service was great and the price was very reasonable for the amount that I received. It is not a huge restaurant, and I arrived there around 9.30pm, so it wasn't incredibly busy, but it was a nice change from my local. If you like curry (and are obviously nearby in London) give them a try!

This review is not about food but the attitude of the staff. I visited London on a Christmas trip with a great hope to have a good Indian food. However, the experience was terrible. I went there on the Christmas evening. One of the staff members asked us to check the price before giving the order. When I asked what he meant by saying so; he said that Christmas prices are different and they were charging 15% extra on the listed prices. I asked why they are doing so; then another staff member gave an explanation that the listed price is for a side dish but the main portion will cost more. They had no further explanation on why the main dish price is not listed in the menu. It was a shameless argument just to cover up there cheating tactics. I am pretty confident that restaurant is not an Indian restaurant; just run in the name of India. I would not recommend it to fellow beings there in London or a foreign traveler. Cheating in the name of an Indian restaurant. I left from there without eating anything wondering how they must be cheating to locals without their knowledge.

This place has always been my last resort curry house in SW1 Victoria area, anyway went here last week and was not impressed at all.For starters we spent over £50 on a take away for the family and when I asked how many free popadoms I get withy that they looked at me like I was mad and was like if you want some you have to pay for them, I have never in my life been to a curry house that don't chuck some in free along with some mint sauce or mango chutney when placing a larger order say £30-40+...Got food home and all the curries had these big chunky green peppers in them which just killed the taste of the curry, we had a korma and a chick tik masala with the big chopped up green peppers which trust me don't belong in them sort of curries.Anyway I cant belive how people rate this place as being good, maybe they think it's good as most people who come in are drunk so anything tastes good to them, but as an indian restaurant the food is average at best, and there are much better places close by...Places like Millbank spice and Pimlico tandoori are much much better all round than this place.

We were very pleased with the food and the portion sizes. Service was great and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for non-pub food. Also liked the rose for my wife at the end....nice touch!

This was the best Indian food I have had in a long time. The Chicken Tikki Marsla is amazing. The restaurant is small but very busy. The ladies also get a flower and chocolate at the end of your meal. It's a classy touch.

We ordered the garlic chili with chicken and butter chicken, the garlic chili was well seasoned and tasty. Dont eat the green chilis if you dont want to get burned! The butter chicken had a mild and good taste, a tad sweet for my taste buds though.

We were staying in this neighborhood for a few days, and got take away from Indian Diner twice - it was delicious. We had the tikka masala, veggie rice, basmati rice, and roti. Everything was excellent- the chicken was especially moist. For the price, I would have expected a little more chicken, but it was so good that we just ordered more the next night!! Definitely better than what we get in NY City.

We came here for a team dinner, with ex-colleagues. It wasn't that busy when we arrived, but we still had to wait some time for our drinks orders - painfully slow. The ordering of the food took even longer, despite us being fairly organised about what we wanted. The poppadoms and pickles came quickly enough, but again, we had to wait some time for the starters and given that not everyone was having them, it meant that those of us just having a main had to wait even longer. It was ages until we got our mains and to be honest, they weren't worth waiting for. Mine seemed to be of the better ones as I opted for the vegetarian thali, but the consistency of the sauces seemed too thin and the rice was greasy. The portions were acceptable, but having a lot of bland food isn't any more enjoyable than having a small amount of good food. So, it's fine for a night out, but i wouldn't go for anything really special.

My hubby and I mentioned to some locals that we met at a pub (yes, drinking beer) that we were interested in Indian food. They recommended the Indian Diner. They were so right! The food was excellent, the price was reasonable (for London, that's a treat), and the service was great.Local people always have the best advice. Enough said!

Sat down in a partially full restaurant as thought we would give the benefit of the doubt. Food looked good that was coming out and the takeaway food trade looked reasonable. We sat down and a drinks order was taken, bottle of water and a cobra arrived. The cobra tasted off, so I asked if it would be perhaps possible to have a bottle instead. To which the waiter angrily retorted that nobody else had complained (although we couldn't see anyone else with one). He exclaimed that we must pay for the off cobra. We paid for a bottle of water and stale cobra and left (£8.95), which was a shame as I would have liked to have given the food a go, but with 15 years in hospitality I will not accept very rude staff like this.I'd give it a wide berth unless staffing attitude changes.

Can't complain about anything in particular but that said there was nothing positive I could say. For the quantity you get the quality should be better. I might be spoiled by all the Indian Restraunts and take aways Oi use outside London. I previously reviewed and gave too generous a score.

On stepping into the restaurant I found it quite smokey. This usually means lots of tandoori, an authentic clay oven or that the kitchen is on fire. It transpired that there was a clay oven. Based on the taste of the food I subsequently ate I wish it had been the latter. I usually judge a restaurant by the prawn puri (poor with a distinct absence of prawns) and the nan (keema was awful). The main was terrible. So bland and chewy - beware the lamb Balti. On the upside the pint of cobra was refreshing and the after eight mint welcome Payment turned out to be a little bit of a farce too with the card machine running out of paper.

Needed a late night snack and this place had smelled great earlier in the day when I walked by. Order the King Prawn Pruni and it was very very good. Low frills, but this is a diner right? Would definitely go for a full meal if I'm in London again

Had a wonderful meal at this restaurant a few weeks ago. We were a party of 16 and we were seated together in the alcove at the back of the restaurant.. The waiters were attentive and service was quick. The food good. Portion size good and the price reasonable. The only downside to this restaurant was th toilet facilities. They were clean but small. .

The service is good, it's fairly quick. There's an ok wine and beer selection, nothing of note. Food was ok, tandoori dish was a little tough, not a great salad side. Been back once but there are better in the area - Pimlico Tandoori for one.

The food was OK but a little slow, hopefully because it was being freshly prepared. I ordered the mixed grill and for the price was a little disappointed with the quantity and the salad that came with it was basically just lettuce and cucumber. No dressing, nothing to note so again disappointing, my local take away is better. The starter was nice (chicken chat) but again nothing to note.

Despite not that appealing outside (it's a little restaurant in a quiet street with a rather old school decor), our meal turned out great. My chicken pasanda was delicious and my boyfriend's chicken jalfrezi also just right and flavourful. We also had garlic naan and pilau rice, and these were good too. Service was prompt and pleasant enough, oerall good value.

I've been to this restaurant on a number of occasions. It's usually quite busy which says a lot. The food is basic and good. It's not high end but it is a great place to go with friends for some simple tasty food. You won't pay over the odds either. It is a flashback to the 1970's - the decor hasn't changed since then (probably?) and it's the same good old staple dishes served. The only little issue I will alert you to is the beer pricing. A pint of Cobra is £4.95 but they charge £3.50 for a half pint..!!?? I can't work that one out.

A big shout out to the Ceo of Golden Shalimar alongside his staff who catered for us last night after we've been to the Derby County game. The service/food was absolutely outstanding 👏 & were even provided with complimentary drinks. The restaurant is definitely a 5* rating for a unique fine dining experience by far!! Thanks once again J

I had dinner here with a friend the other night. The food was the best Indian food I have had in ages. A real 5/5 in my opinion. Service and ambience very good, too. Prices reasonable.

Was a little perplexed to find the Couthouse Hotel afternoon tea was set in an indian restaurant. Staff were very Indian (you’re 5 minutes early sir) but did a sterling job. Champagne on arrival, tiered platter of finger sandwiches, scone cream jam, assorted desserts followed by tea/coffee. Pro’s - it was a good experience and we wanted to have a good time. Con’s - bread was poor quality (cheap), felt a little rushed, ambience was noisy but appreciate that was just the other patrons on the day.
